Despite it being temporarily disabled I had a good poke around, there are a few hint objects around a little away from GZ so the possibility was there, but not to be. didn't have much time to keep looking so off to the next one.
I had made a call out to team SEAC to see if anyone wanted to wonder to Pauanui for day outing to grab some caches. Ended up with a swamp of us wanted to go! So on the day itself, we packed up the bikes, picnic food and embarked on this great journey!
With about 12 set of eyes looking for this, we still couldn't find this. thanks for putting this out, though.

As per previous finder note, Our group looked for quite a while and couldn't find the cache. new gravel and earthworks here, so maybe it has moved?
As luck would have it NZTravellers, B4Dawn and I realised that all our other work and social commitments aligned to give us some free time this week so what better way to put this to use then some afternoon / evening / night caching the WHOLE week!!! After 4 weekdays of very long days (work in the morning, then caching all evening) we took a break on friday to get ready for a bigger Saturday to finish the week off. We had many more Team SEAC keen to join this one which we haven't done in a little while with all the lockdowns etc so it was a great day!
As we arrived at GZ we spotted the HeMaLuDy's who were walking the trail instead of biking. They had been looking for a while but we didn't let that stop us. We searched high and low, into the bushes we went as it looked like some of the area had recently been cleared but still no luck.

Would appear has if a machine has been pushing stuff around and possibly buried the prize.
We found this one as we cycled from Pauanui towards the end of the trail and back again. Not too many muggles on the trail today. A quick find here and we continued on along the trail to the next one. TFTC
I was certainly stumped with this one as after arriving at gz I spied a well hidden hint item so spent some time searching that but came up empty. So I then looked in the obvious place I should have started with and sure enough, there it was.
Anniversary weekend for Vamber and we decided to stay in a Yurt in Pauanui with the geopup. Lovely early morning walk. TFTC.
We were stumped for a minute but soon managed to log it with PhilBirdBoys, 6th of the day. Tftc.
Another hunt here before finally tracking this elusive one down. Cheers.
Day 10 - Sunday 27 December - Tairua - up to Whenuakite and back and Pauanui power trail today. What will we find today?.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Funny how you put in a cache to celebrate a new feature, as this cache does, only for a year later people are going "What start of finish? This cache is just part way along!" It doesn't take long before "new" becomes ordinary.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

I would like to be the first to donate $1.00 towards the cost of a dictionary for the CO. TFTC.
Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Four of my road trip. I started my travels in Coromandel Town and ended my day in Tairua. One of the objectives of my trip today was to try to find as many caches along this trail as I could. It would have been nice to have my bike with me but I had to make do with walking the trail on foot which was just fine by me. Apologies for the cut and paste logs. I'll note anything that stood out for me. Like others I wasn't stumped by the hint. TFTC, Biggles.
Great day for a bike ride. Thanks for getting me out and about. That's what I love about caching. Taking me to places I have never been.
Enjoying this bike trail. Like others it was soon found behind a stump! Thanks G-2.
Searched behind a lot of logs, then in one desperate attempt tried behind a stump!

As with the previous finder we found this behind a stump rather than a log but it seemed happy where it was so we left it alone. It's probably safer there anyway as it seems most of the logs around here are being progressively made into seats.

We came to Pauanui for a great cycle and geocaching session and we had a really great time. The trail was SO busy with many families out on their bikes too. Spent a bit of time here and found the cache neatly stashed beside a stump. Well there were lots of logs around too, so didn't move it (cache creep) but replaced as found. Otherwise cache is all good. TFTC
Nearly a year since my dnf. Lots of logs to pick from but persistence paid off. Tftc
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

Easter Weekend and time to dust the bikes off and get riding. Spotted this trail a while ago and decided to have a go. One half of the team is much more confident on the bike than the other. However we spent a very pleasant several hours on the trail riding and finding caches. Probably timed it right as the trail seemed to get busier on our return trip. Can see it is a very popular activity for walkers and bikers. It was a very pretty trail and certainly the hillier aspects add some interest for the more confident rider lol. Nice hide here. SL. TFTC.
Getting towards the end of the trail now. My phone played up here big time for some reason, there were logs everywhere you looked! But eventually I looked at one spot and there was the cache!
Was up this way for the Leadfoot Festival of Speed and noticed I had a couple more caches this way to clear the area again.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Today biked to the current end of the track over the new bridge. Needed a breather on the way back and stopped here. Thanks very much G-2
This was a last minute planned trip for just the morning to try and get a few numbers for the latest bl**dy souviner challange by Groundspeak. So as it had been a while since I had been over here I thought that starting along this area and working my way south was an option (also would tidy up the map).
I arrived earlier than anticipated so collected the five at the end of the trail were collected as the light was changing and then went and got the opposing end before heading South.
Thank you for placing these along here and giving me a reason to stop on by. Next time I come over it will be to shoot up the hill
Another nice little collection by the master "G-2", feels good to be back collecting a few of this CO's, THanks for all your work Glynn.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Day 2 of our Whangamata holiday and on the quest for more caches and some fun winter beach time. Decided today we would head to Pauanui to tackle the cycle trail and a few others.
I was a bit worried when I arrived to 2 huge piles of logs. Groan. Wandered around a bit before gleaming a hint from the logs. This narrowed down the search area and the cache was soon in hand.

Time to revisit Pauanui. Last time I was here was in the 70's. Also wanted to give my new e-bike another run.
Depends upon your point of view, whether you are facing the trail or the trail is behind you.
Cheers for the cache.

A lot of work happening here with lots of logs. Trusted the GPS and soon made the find - I agree with previous finder regarding the stump TFTC
Having walked up Mt Pauanui this morning and wanting to stay local to Pauanui today I decided on this trail which I’d been eyeing since arriving on Saturday.
Having followed the GPS and the hint and not having much luck, I read the last log and yes, stump rather than log was the way to go.
Thanks for placing and greetings from the .

A sunny spot on a beautiful day. Despite initial concerns cache was quickly found.
Quick easy find, while on holiday for a few days thought May as well do a few caches. Weather is holding off at the moment since its been raining most of.our trip from tauranga. Tftc
2.20pm. Another easy find on a great walk.
Thank you. David & Noeline with Andrea & Natalia.

Cache number 3303. Over clearing out some caches in the area. On foot and by the time I got here a shower of rain had set in. Thankfully I had a raincoat on. I checked the hint to help and search all round with no luck. I was stumped. Got under a punga for a bit of shelter as I re-read the cache page. Then I spotted a similar hint item and on checking around that I soon had my hands on the cache. Decided to turn around and head back then go into town to give this shower a chance to go away. So for now it was both the start and the finish. Thanks for the placement.
There has been a truck load of money spent on this great asset ...very chilly in the shade this morning but a fab sunny day great for caching found it all good signed and replaced thanks G-2 another great placement
There is a plethora of seats along here. Someone has been busy. Great when in the sun but fresh wind blowing. Thanks for the cache placement G-2.
Hint seemed a little misleading but the cache was still quickly found here. Not far from reaching the finish of the trail, TFTC!
#247. 4pm. Nice easy one for a change - read stump for log, and all is sweet! GB Leader found it, and we both signed and moved off to get the next one. Tftc G--2. My 8th for the day.
Continued this nice walk today, some great finds and did not try the caches not found 2 days ago. Some are quite challenging and would question the terrain rating. TFTC
On a geocaching trip around the area, enjoying the good caches on the way.
Nice fairly quick find here - looked everywhere behind hint item before checking the cache logs and then soon had it.
Thanks for the fun! SL

As we wandered the track we grabbed a few of these on the way to show our friends how geocaching works. Took a while as it is a stump not a log! Tftc.
11.20am - Large amounts of caching have been on the back burner since the Squirrel had his eye surgery. Cleared to go we have been looking at the Pauanui area for some time now and noted a lot of new caches have been added in the area recently.
Plan made and off we went. Day turned out to be very hot and with lots of water on board we will be okay. Decided to start on the new trail first then look at the others afterwards.
Caches didn't pose to many problems with some easier than others, scrambled up banks, read previous cachers comments to help us find. Then the good camoes etc. We seemed to be the only walkers on track apart from a few cyclist. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) on a hot, Auckland Anniversary holiday... I am recovering from eye surgery, and haven't been out caching in a while... Today's efforts are going to be testing...
We arrived at the roadside and could already see a group of cyclists. This set the scene for the entire length of track. We were never really alone for any great periods of time; and to make it more challenging, groups would pass us twice travelling in either direction. The most positive aspect really, were the views along the waterway... just beautiful on a sunny, blue sky day. We liked this track and look forward to exploring its extension in the near future.
The hint threw us off a bit, and we vhecked several of the possibilities. Eventually, a previous log gave us a handy clue, and we found this one almost immediately thereafter. TFTC.

The final day of our mini break to the Coromandels. We were quite surprised at just how many people were out enjoying this new trail on their bikes - great to see the family groups. We felt a bit out of place being the only walkers until much further along the trail. This cache took more searching than it should have. Checked out all the hint items we could see (and there were a few), and then turned around and spied the container next to a 'fghzc'.
Fun in the sun, walking towards Pauanui, the GPS had me going one way, then I stepped over a log, then crossed, back, rested in a spot, and spied the something suspicious, which turned out to be the cache.
Lovely trail, hot in the sun

Maybe the clue should replace "log" with "stump" as we were about to give up when my wife realised that she had put her drink bottle down almost on top of the cache - a very fortunate find.
This is a favourite walk while we are in Pauanui and I am considering placing my first cache along the trail.

Yip - saw a piece of bark that hadn't fallen naturally. Sure enough the cache was underneath, but no sign of a log... Cheers G-2, TFTC.
Mr P and I greatly enjoyed our walk along this trail. Beautiful views, nice terrain and hardily anyone around - magic! T4tc
The first sunny day after the rain so went to Pauanui for lunch and check on some caches that we had not found. I love this walk we have been walking it since it was first put in. Great to see all the new seats along the way.TFTC
I dragged daughter bellbox out for a caching fix straight after school. This was our first stop, a nice one for the pups to have a bit of a run.
There were a few places that matched the hint so I looked in all the wrong places before the obvious. Tftc

Woo hoo nice surprise to get the {FTF}!
An early start for us and a muggle family to take our friend's new-to-him boat on its first outing. Long story short, things didn't go to plan, back on land with almost a full day ahead of us & our friends now have the opportunity to spend more $$$ on their new toy!! We agreed we'd detour into pauanui, so thought I'd have a look at what caches I could grab while everyone else in the group opted for the beach, only to spot these new placements. The rest were keen to explore this new trail with me, so off we went.
Parked at the out-of-town end of the trail & set off towards GZ here. The trail quickly opens out to great views of the estuary and, with the tide in today, our teens were kept well entertained by the efforts of a group trying to learn to wake board. Bet they're sore tonight! Not long to this 1st cache and, with good co-ords & a helpful hint, it was a nice quick find by one of our teens who'd dashed ahead & a lovely surprise to see a blank log. Thanks for the placement and the incentive to explore a new spot!
