Enjoyed a bike ride of a few kilometres along this trail this morning, picking up a total of 12 caches. Had 2 DNFs, although I suspect one of those was actually missing. Yes, there was the option of two hint items at this point. Took a moment or two to spot the hide. Really not that difficult! #8121. TFTC.

After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. Good find with Cympull. Great hide on a great trail. Out on our bikes for the day. TFC
Thanks for your amazing cache G-2. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Found with Fisha1288 Cheers, Cympull.
Accio 10:33:39Staying in Pauanui for the middle week of our New Zealand holiday - with T4mmmy - today it was time to walk this trail. An easy 5kms (each way) amble which took just on 3 hours car back to car. Nice area, calm, quiet beautiful. Scared a hare (scared us just as much). No not that stump. Hmmm, no not that stump either. Oh THIS stump you mean? Thanks G-2 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11709}*
How difficult can it be finding a cache at a stump. Made it way more difficult than it needed to be. We got there in the end. Tftc
Was initially stumped, but checked nearby and found quickly. Cache in good condition. Tftc
Found with goldielover today. Checked a spot she hadn't.

Must be an Aussie thing. I see the previous searchers could not find it either. How hard could a tree stump be? Went round and round but nothing. My strike rate out here is not very goodTFTH
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 2 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula and we woke up to a glorious sun rise. We are ready for the day ahead and exploring this lovely little town. After a very leisurely breakfast we headed to the beach and river mouth area where we undertook a local Adventure Lab, followed by an interesting multi before taking a beautiful scenic river walk with a trail of caches along the way . Part of the walk was a boardwalk through the mangroves which was quite impressive. We are actually very relieved that there are no snakes in New Zealand , we would not be attempting some of these spots at this time of year in Australia

We're staying in Tairua for a few days break and today we traveled over to Pauanui to ride the cycleway and pick up caches. Took a while to find this one but we got there, TFTC
Always search the wrong spot first. I got there in the end. Interesting track. Tftc.
I ended up circling a couple of similar hint items before spotting the correct one.
A nice quiet muggle free spot here.
Thanks for setting this up

I had made a call out to team SEAC to see if anyone wanted to wonder to Pauanui for day outing to grab some caches. Ended up with a swamp of us wanted to go! So on the day itself, we packed up the bikes, picnic food and embarked on this great journey! All logs were signed as "SEAC" to save space.
These finds were so quick, it's starting to get into a blur. TFTC

We planned a Team SEAC outing to the Tangitarori Wetlands Walk and the surrounding area to cache and spend a day enjoying the Pauanui area. We joined Uncle Sam, Keylev, Hemaludy, Stick-a-crane, NurseDr and B4Dawn for the day and completed the bike ride in about 3 hours. After a lunch break we then completed a few more caches around the Pauanui and Tairua. A great day with great friends.
Another satisfying find for MrsNZT, searching the stump less visited! TFTC!

A plan was hatched amongst a few of the Team SEAC crew from south and east Auckland to spend the day in Pauanui and surrounding areas to find some caches. This trail was the first target. Mr and Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to walk the trail while the others biked, so they dropped us off at one end for us to get started and then they went to the other end to get started with their bikes.
Happy to make another find here

As luck would have it NZTravellers, B4Dawn and I realised that all our other work and social commitments aligned to give us some free time this week so what better way to put this to use then some afternoon / evening / night caching the WHOLE week!!! After 4 weekdays of very long days (work in the morning, then caching all evening) we took a break on friday to get ready for a bigger Saturday to finish the week off. We had many more Team SEAC keen to join this one which we haven't done in a little while with all the lockdowns etc so it was a great day!
Whilst some of the crew went one way Mrs NZT and I noticed another of the hint items and thought aha....its going to be in this hidden one rather than the obvious one and what do you know...we were right and she had it in hand pretty soon.
Thanks for the cache.

B4Dawn posted in our group chat of a trip down this way, a beautiful part of the country, to locate some of the local caches....some of us had found some but the majority were unfound by the group....
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches, with the majority in good condition and dry...
On our bikes for this stretch of caches, with 2 of the group walking...

We saw a little skink in the stump ! It was in the other stump though. Good find!
We found this one as we cycled from Pauanui towards the end of the trail and back again. Not too many muggles on the trail today. A quick find here and we continued on along the trail to the next one. This one did not have us stumped for long. TFTC
Good hide, took a few minutes and had a large rabbit/hare helping us here! Enjoying the day out - thanks for the variety
I was heading to Pauanui for a few days and I was a little bit early to book into my accommodation so decided to make the most of the break in the rain and do a few on this trail. I parked near this one and after being distracted by one hint item and finding nothing I looked around and spied another and bingo, there was the cache
Anniversary weekend for Vamber and we decided to stay in a Yurt in Pauanui with the geopup. Lovely early morning walk. TFTC.
Boys couldn’t find it so Bird read previous logs for clues. Once these were passed on Phil made the find at the less obvious stump! SL TFTC
Nearly fell for the decoy stump, refocused and quickly had the cache in hand. Our 1500th find. Found with PhilBirdBoys. Tftc.
This one didnt quite have us stumped. Left our calling card. Cheers.
Day 10 - Sunday 27 December - Tairua - up to Whenuakite and back and Pauanui power trail today. What will we find today?.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Here yet another cache that talks about this new track. New? It seems old to me. Ah this cache was published (showing off my clever math abilities here!) four years ago (yep, I am a gun at this math stuff!). Funny how new becomes old so quickly.
Found the designated decoy, had to check it twice before we found the cache!
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Four of my road trip. I started my travels in Coromandel Town and ended my day in Tairua. One of the objectives of my trip today was to try to find as many caches along this trail as I could. It would have been nice to have my bike with me but I had to make do with walking the trail on foot which was just fine by me. Apologies for the cut and paste logs. I'll note anything that stood out for me. Tricky - found the cache in the second place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
Great day for a bike ride. Thanks for getting me out and about. That's what I love about caching. Taking me to places I have never been.
Didn't need a hint on this one...just used my geocaching skills and found it very quickly

Gz wasn’t as obvious as we initially thought but after looking around more carefully, the cache was soon in hand. SL. TFTC.
Feel a bit foolish for missing this a couple of days ago, but thats what happens when you are pushed for time.
TFTC
TFTC
Nah!, but we were pushed for time so 5 minutes was it, would normally give it much more than this but in 30 degree plus heat and wanting to cover the whole bike trail, that was it.
Not quite where we were expecting it to be so we initially were searching in slightly the wrong place but then thought, "Oh..it could be there", and sure enough it was.
A couple rode past on bikes and one was riding the exact bike Mrs Coblet had been thinking of buying herself, must be a sign.

We came to Pauanui for a great cycle and geocaching session and we had a really great time. The trail was SO busy with many families out on their bikes too. Loved it! Cache is all good. TFTC
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

Easter Weekend and time to dust the bikes off and get riding. Spotted this trail a while ago and decided to have a go. One half of the team is much more confident on the bike than the other. However we spent a very pleasant several hours on the trail riding and finding caches. Probably timed it right as the trail seemed to get busier on our return trip. Can see it is a very popular activity for walkers and bikers. It was a very pretty trail and certainly the hillier aspects add some interest for the more confident rider lol. Nice hide here. SL. TFTC.
I went straight for the obvious and, of course, came up with nothing. Stand and think and it’s an easy find.
I decided to start this trail from Tangitarori Ln, me and rustynz have done the caches frm there north, the sth end of this trail isn't very good for parking so that's why I started here and went south.
First cache along this trail on me trusty e-bike! Stumped I was too until I had the right one, took me ages here! Not off to a quick start....

Had me stumped briefly. Good condition.

This was a last minute planned trip for just the morning to try and get a few numbers for the latest bl**dy souviner challange by Groundspeak. So as it had been a while since I had been over here I thought that starting along this area and working my way south was an option (also would tidy up the map).
I arrived earlier than anticipated so collected the five at the end of the trail were collected as the light was changing. Quickly grabbed this one then went for a bike ride to collect the resbefore heading South.
Thank you for placing these along here and giving me a reason to stop on by. Next time I come over it will be to shoot up the hill
Another nice little collection by the master "G-2", feels good to be back collecting a few of this CO's, THanks for all your work Glynn.

Day 2 of our Whangamata holiday and on the quest for more caches and some fun winter beach time. Decided today we would head to Pauanui to tackle the cycle trail and a few others.
This was the first of the trail for us and after Sharkboy had a bit of a tanty before we even left the carpark I was a little worried on how far we would make it. Once he spotted some lovely big puddles to cycle through we were off, a lot more happily than before. Soon had the cache in hand and time to move onto the next.

Time to revisit Pauanui. Last time I was here was in the 70's. Also wanted to give my new e-bike another run.
Pick the correct stump.
Cheers for the cache.

We decided we would head up to Coromandel for a couple of days to do some Geocaching and walks, in spite of the heavy rain at home. Once we crossed the hills the weather soon improved and by the time we reached our destination it was fine and sunny. After staying at Thames overnight we decided to do the four or five unfound caches on the Tapu road and carry on to Pauanui. After overnighting down by the beach we spent this morning caching around Pauanui before heading back home. We thought we would do some of the easier ones on this new cycleway and bring the bikes another time. We finally found this one after finding correct hint item and something nearby smells. Suspect it might be oxidation ponds and the way the wind was blowing today.
Thanks G-2. We will be back for the rest.

After a walk up the hill I thought I might give this one a go and see how I feel. This is a lovely area with lots of work being done on it. TFTC
Having walked up Mt Pauanui this morning and wanting to stay local to Pauanui today I decided on this trail which I’d been eyeing since arriving on Saturday.
Started looking at wrong host then was spotted by a couple of more mature cyclists. I could see they were bemused as to what I was doing, I told them and they had a couple of friends who were cachers. Agreed that we’d probably meet again on the path (we did) further along. I then found the cache, did the admin and replaced before moving on to the next one.

At first we were stumped because we were looking around the bigger version of the GZ then #SuperDad put us right.
Lovely walkway with many peaceful resting spots like this. Cache was easy enough to find and is in good condition. Here I chose to turn back and return later.
Quick easy find, while on holiday for a few days thought May as well do a few caches. Weather is holding off at the moment since its been raining most of.our trip from tauranga. Tftc
1.25pm. Family visiting so a good excuse to go for a walk and pick up a number of caches. Our first on this section of the trail. This is a great track which will be fantastic when it is finally complete. Found all the active hides today. This one took a while as there are a number of options but Noeline picked the right one. A favourite point here for the trail.
Thank you. David & Noeline with Andrea & Natalia.

Cache number 3206. How the mighty have fallen!! This week The mighty Sir Colin Meads (known as Pinetree) one of New Zealands greatest All Blacks died. How appropriate I find this cache today. It took me some time to find mainly because I was looking in the wrong place. But once at right GZ I soon spotted the hide and had the cache in hand. Cache all good. Thanks for the placement.
