31-Aug-24
In Albury for a few days for a uni residential school. Not much time for caching, just aiming for a handful, mostly close to campus. Today was my last full day down here, so decided to go for a late afternoon walk to find one more cache before I leave in the morning. I consider myself to have a somewhat mathematical brain, so enjoyed solving this puzzle and had a plausible set of coords within a couple of minutes. After watching the madness that was the end of the eels vs dragons nrl match, I found myself at the somewhat secluded GZ and soon located the cache neatly tucked away. A few roos were watching on as I signed the log. Thanks for the cache

Being a retired university mathematics lecturer, I was definitely solving this puzzle cache.A reasonably tricky cache find, but having found other "yamutha" tricky hides, I was now familiar with the sort of locations to search.

Day 2 of our Canberra (plus 3) Invasion of Albury. It was a beautiful sunny day as we set out in search of presolved caches. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches that enticed us down here. Cache found and log signed as CIA or CAI.

Albury Invasion trip Day 2. After panning and months of puzzle solving it is finally time to head to Albury Wodonga for a long weekend visit. I was with Kitty Katch, FufacesLL and Joolay for this trip, but I also spent time with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n due to space in cars. Logs for the weekend were signed CIA23 to save space. Today was a day of driving all up and down and across back and forth around Albury trying to visit as many of the Puzzle locations we have solved. Some were nice walks some just roadside finds, but there was a huge variety of hides and some were very challenging, even if they were in 'traditional' locations. We did fail to find a few, but I put that down to some really good hides that just plain beat us. There were a few puzzle highlights but matching the puzzle to the hide on the day was a little difficult, so I will just thank all the hider's for their hard work and providing the opportunity to spend a fun day. There are still more caches to be found so we have another day planned for tomorrow and will probably have to come back again one day. Thanks for the cache yamutha44834.23 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & February Believe In Caching A#513**Albida**

fitzy_1965 and I headed towards Albury/Wodonga last night. We camped at the Ettamogah Pub before joining the rest of our friends in Albury today.A great day was had with us picking up lots of trads, multi's and pre-solved puzzles with the day ending in an event in the heart of Albury and a nice hotel room thanks to a Red Balloon voucher. The logs were primarily signed as CIA (Canberra Invasion Albury) unless otherwise stated.

My brain hurt.Apologies for generic logs. Appreciate all the time and effort put in to the caches. Will definitely be back to explore some more. Its a perfect weekend to get out of town. Decided Albury was the place to go. Lots of lovely puzzles that we have spent time as a group working through now its time to venture down and pick up.Signing as CIA-Canberra Invasion of Albury. Thanks for getting me out and about yamutha

33,771. Found with Team CIA23 - Canberra Invasion of Albury 2023.Our caching group has been eyeing off the Albury/Wodonga area for quite some time. After many months of hard work we had solved nearly all the area's puzzles, so we set a date and headed on down. CIA23 comprised of minniek, Joolay, Kittykatch, isopeda, barb2e, FurfacesLL, Tankengine, dty73, Sol de lune, LuckyL10n, albida33, Aykayem, smittengranny and myself. For part of one day we were joined by local Cacher Happy Feet 1. What a great weekend of caching with such a fun group of people. An event on the Saturday night also helped make the trip memorable. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log as CIA23, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list. Thanks yamutha !! One of many of your caches we were lucky enough to find. We appreciate your contribution to Geocaching and our enjoyment.

#18874; Day 2 of the Canberra Invasion of Albury 2023 weekend, which had been preceded by much head scratching and puzzle solving to prepare. Our merry band comprised of Sol de lune, albida33, Smittengranny, Kittykatch, Joolay, FurfacesLL, Barb2e and isopeda, along with yours truly, were joined by dty, tankengine, aykayem, minniek and fitzy_65 for a day of action today. Started the day to the north of town and then worked our way south, east and west as we gathered caches. Some finds were difficult as were some of the puzzles and some were easier. Some we didn't find at all! All up 103 finds, one event at the end of the day and nine DNFs for me today. Logs were again signed CIA23. Most of the caches we found were in good order. Apologies for the generic logs, but by the end of the day, like the body, the mind was slowing down as well! Thanks to all of the cache owners for helping make a great weekend for our Canberra caching fraternity. TFTC yamutha Smile

Day 2 of the Canberra invasion weekend of Albury. Being ex an Canberran, I headed up to join in the fun of the weekend with LuckyL10n, Albida33, fitzy_1965, minniek, tankengine, dty73, Joolay, KittyKatch, Smittengranny, Isopeda, Barbe2e and FFLL. Today we started to the north of Albury and headed towards the CBD, grabbing caches on both sides of the freeway as we went. Lots of pre solved puzzles, along with a number of traditionals, were found during the day. Unfortunately we had a few DNF's as well. Thanks to all the CO's for the caches...and the fun we had over the weekend. Logs were signed CIA (Canberra Invasion Albury)...

Day 2 of our Albury Trip. For the last few weeks a group of us sat together and solved lots of puzzles for this weekend. Today, SmittenGranny, barb2e, Kittykatch, albida33, FurfacesLL, Joolay, Sol de Lune, LuckyL1On, MinnieK, Fitzy_65, Tankengine, DTY73, Aykayem and me went around Albury and found puzzles, multies, trads, ALs and a virtual etc. To save log space we are signing as CIA (aka Canberra invasion of Albury). The puzzles were all quite interesting, the hides sometimes hard. Sorry for the generic logs. Caching in the group makes logging hard. TFTC

All calculations proved correct. Cool

Back in Albury with catnap777 visiting family before the Mega, and we made time to revisit a few bugbears whilst here. Red Face
This time, with two pair of eyes at G.Z and a little more intel', we were able to negate this nasty blue DNF stain from the map and substitute a smiley.

A clever puzzle that I thought I had made a mess of, but our coords were good and this time we found the nasty micro tucked away at it's calculated GZ in good condition. [^]
WooHoo!!! Big Grin
TFTC yamutha. Big Grin This was not the only DNF of your caches that we got to turn into smileys this day. Wink

Puzzle solved, cache found and log signed with dalerious Razz, on what turned out to be a yamutha type of afternoon.

Here for Good Friday visiting our daughter and catching up with my parents, it truly was a day of days.

Some hides were as tricky as the puzzles, but they were all there, safe and sound, even though some eluded us on our last visit.
We concur all hides are in place Big Grin.

Thank you "R" for a wonderful afternoon of caching, and yes, your puzzles and my family will always entice us back to this city Big Grin.

Back in Albury with catnap777 this time and this cache pulled from my pile of "solved puzzles" helped shape what turned out to be my most unsuccessful geocaching expedition ever with 5 DNFs including this oneRed Face

A clever puzzle that I think I made a mess of. My coords looked good but we found nothing at my calculated GZ. Twisted
Back to the chalk board I go. Razz

With the wet weather finally behind us, decided to get out and about and collect some more yamutha caches in the hope of reducing our too long solved pile, so we targeted this area of town...
A yamutha MATHS puzzle, doesn't get any better than that for my Maths wired brain...
Got wet feet trekking from our previous find to GZ, but didn't take too long to find this typical style hide from the CO, TFTC yamutha

Once upon a time I revelled in math but after decades inertia is a powerful modus. Having mathematically said that, another enjoyable moment of time travelling. So ‘a quick response’ doesn’t mean a quick solve although fortunately the find WAS quicker. YAMUTHA delivers again! And in the spirit of a true fair dinkum cacher I can quickly add that the solve was not a solo effort. With a healthy hint I was able to finally respond to this puzzle challenge with some sensible numbers. A day in Albury on a few missions which of course included geocaching. Headed further north of Albury to find a clutch of caches up never before visited ‘roads’ TFTC and the fun YAMUTHA!

It’s MEGA Road Trip time!! A plan is hatched and we are good to go.
DAY NINE: More Albury & Wodonga solved puzzles.
May or may not have used an online helper with this one.
At gz, we thought we were going to finish with a dnf then RoamingHowie spotted something we’d not noticed in our search.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, yamutha

Day #9 of the MEGA road trip. Still based at Ettamogah Pub for the last night. I need to grab a handful of caches in Wodonga, as this is the last LGA in my Victorian challenge to complete. Then we are continuing the yamutha puzzle fest (and catching up with the CO at some point hopefully). The plan is always to end up back at camp early afternoon to relax in the hammocks, although I’m sure you can imagine how well that plan seems to work out.

Having studied specialist maths in high school I could remember enough to make good on these coordinates. Nature almost tricked us again at GZ but the coordinates don’t lie!

Thanks yamutha for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

One of many caches found during the week of the 2021 Wangaratta Mega. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to our recreational activity!

I picked off a healthy chunk of solved mystery caches on my way home through Albury. I gained an appreciation for yamutha's modus operandi for both his clear puzzle designs and hiding styles.

I enjoyed this mathematical puzzle. Took me a little while to locate the cache which was hiding the place I should have checked first! TFTC

Using a research site I use for both work and solving puzzles, I was able to work my way thru to a solution.

On our way home and we decided on a late stop in Albury. Great dinner at Downtown Pizzeria and brunch at The Barista, Baker & Brewer.
Had a bit of a sleep in and didn't get out and start my standard morning caching until just before 7 am.

I was starting to worry that this would be a DNF but with great coordinates I eventually found this well hidden container protected by a medium black spider and its webs

Thanks for the cache Yamutha

Suscoe had our final day in Albury today and it was a very warm to hot one.
Clear blue skies, some wind at times and bright sunshine and it felt like a solid Summer's day.
35 degrees was the hottest the car temp got to.
We enjoyed our day of caching even though it was so hot.
We visited a range of caches, some traditionals, some puzzles and a multi or two.
In preparation for this trip we had been working on solving the puzzles at home, some we were able to solve ourselves and some required a nudge or two from some other cachers.

We enjoyed the variety in the puzzles and the hides.

Thanks to yamutha for a nice puzzle and hide.

Found this one and sneaked in two states in one day for caching Very Happy Geelong to Albury today. Now for the infamous night cache “Black Ops”. Thanks for this puzzle and cache!

29-Nov-18
Today was my first full day in Albury so my plan was to jump on the bike in the morning to grab some caches and then spend the afternoon caching by car.

Prior to getting to Albury I had spent a lot of time completing many of the puzzles. I cannot believe how many there are, and also the great quality of the puzzles. The focus of the day would be finding the associated caches but still grab a trad or two along the way.

The morning session saw me clock up over 22kms after which I was definitely ready to put the 4WD through its paces. After 5 hours of driving I was ready to call it quits.

As the CO quite rightly said...Get out the calculator so that is exactly what I did. At the GZ it was a remarkably quick find. TFTC.

Find #4645

My wife is doing some study and so we caught the train up on the weekend to hang out with her in Albury. I was able to grab a bit of time on the Saturday morning to head out and try a few puzzles that I had already solved. This was my second stop for the morning after a find at the previous one. I didn’t have too much trouble solving this puzzle with most of it familiar from previous study. I wasn’t sure how close I’d be able to get the car to GZ but in the end I was able to park very close by. I missed it on the first pass but spotted it from a different angle and was able to retrieve with the help of what others had left nearby. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache yamutha.

Another early morning rise to make the most of the day caching. It was cold again but that wasn't going to stop us. We seemed to take the long way to this cache but no issues getting there. Maths was one of my better subjects at school, not an easy puzzle though Smile

**Thanks to yamutha for placing this cache for us to find and enjoy** Smile

Setting out early with DAB and Na'wal to get as much caching in as possible before Na'wal had to leave us to head back home. We picked up many presolved caches including the small "S" series before saying goodbye. Mathematically speaking needed a few basic high school maths skills revamped but luckily for Google we soon had the answers.
Thanks yamutha for taking us back to our high school days.

07-May-18
We solved this one awhile ago with confirmation from my sister that we had the right answers. She loves maths.

We finally decided to head and grab this cache. We walk past this spot every day with the dog and wonder why it has taken us this long to remember to grab the coords and the gps. On such a beautiful day we decided today would be the day. It was a quick find at GZ as the co ords we had took us right to the spot. This was handy as there is a number of hiding spots the cache could have been.

I am glad we didn't see the cache guardian the previous finders saw. TFTC and the great puzzle to get the grey matter going.

Success in finally finding the cache. We solved the puzzle some time ago but the cache had proved elusive. Not any more as Nacspaceman suddenly announced a find, followed by mild alarm as the cache guardian revealed itself. SL and replaced carefully. TFTC yamutha.

Cache 3374 on 26 Feb 2018

Today was a day off work driving my men folk to Albury for a competition- 8 hours driving there and back. A small compensation was the chance to collect a few puzzles I had solved ages ago. Eleven altogether found today - mostly puzzles and a few trads on the way home to Canberra.

Fifth cache found for the day. Tricky hide - needed a couple of circles to make the find. Maths - yuk. But managed to swallow my pride and generate some coordinates. Log is full!

Thanks yamutha for the cache!

I hated maths growing up as i have a father who used to be a professor of it at the local university. I was in town visiting him and threw him this puzzle to solve. He solved most of it but got two of them wrong. First the program he used rounded one of the numbers up and he forgot one part of another answer. Oh well not bad for a old fella. A quick message to the CO and the mistakes were corrected. I then saw the gz wasn't to far away and made my way there. Once at gz i made a quick find just before security drove by very slowly passed me. Tftc.

This was the third of 30 plus puzzle caches i was to find in the next 14 hours from Yamutha. This in turn was part of a greater list of 85 local puzzle caches i had planned to collect. But like all great plans of mice and men it went wary and my adventure was delayed by 24 hours. Being a great fan of puzzle caches i was keen to start on a new CO offering and learn his MO Thanks Yamutha for the variety of puzzles some more challenging in solving and finding than others. I apologise for the cut and paste logs due to the shear volume of finds in a short period. I truly appreciate the effort involved in creating the puzzle and cache and they bring me great enjoyment in solving and finding (especially the solving.)
END CUT PASTE
Math being a strong point back in the day. I didnt need to call on help to solve this one
Cheers

I thought i had this one solved but once a ground zero i looked and looked to no avail. A meesage to co confirmed that i had part incorrect. A quick resolve and it was back to ground zero where the find was made.

Not certain if actually solved all the equations, but got the key ones and soon had a reasonable looking location. Thought this was going to be a bike track but still parked the car to give the geohound a leg stretch. Once at GZ took a bit longer than hoped but soon remembered yamutha's tricks and poked around and had in hand- another fun puzzle solved - TFTC

Out in the local area caching with The Drovers. After working on some puzzles over the last few weeks, it was time to be rewarded. A fun day was had with many laughs and good hides.
Mrs Drover had this one solved so it was a quick find once at GZ.

After spending the last couple of months solving puzzles, it was time for a drive to Albury.
Met up with Happy Feet 1, who joined us for part of the day - it's nice to go caching with a friend.
We had a lot of laughs, and came across a good variety of hides.

Geo-wife solved this puzzle, but needed a little help with the last equation.
Once that was sorted out, the new co-ords were put together.
Another great challenge, and one more taken out of the 'too hard' basket.

Many thanks for placing this cache, yamutha, for us and others to find.

After some calculating, recalculating and even more recalculating, we had what looked like some reasonable coordinates. Then it was a matter of finding a free day to go caching (aren't public holidays great Smile ) Mrs. Lost Wanderer left the vehicle hoping for a quick find but had a case of cache blindness (it's a frequent condition that she suffers from). Mr. Lost Wanderer had the cache in hand as soon as he got out of the car. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide.

29-May-17
This was a straightforward puzzle and we soon had a set of feasible coordinates. It was an easy find today as we found the cache on the ground, out in the open. The cache and contents were in good condition. After signing the log, w placed the cache in a logical hide within a metre of where it was found. Thanks yamutha for the cache.

#2044 Mrs BGF had solved this one, neither of us excelled in maths so it was a bit of struggle. After a security guard wondered whether we were lost, we then got down to sniffing out the little blighter and after a thorough search of gz, Mr BGF found the sneaky hide. TFTC yamutha.

Down in Albury this week with klbooth, Landyman123, Legoman9494 and Pinkducks all form England. What to do? Well, solve puzzles apparently - the map around Nanny's home is just [?] question marks suddenly.Surprised Having solved a few last couple nights, today we took a wee drive in this general direction.

The teenage niece was going to contribute to this one. On English School Holidays and she has homework to do anyway, so we have her scientific calculator handy[^]. Turns out some aspects of this one are beyond her schooling so far. Good thing the Uncle had a nerdish school life, and could remember most of what's involved - Professor Google helped with a couple of bits. I soon had numbers that looked pretty good.

Drive-by today and after discounting the obvious looking spot, and the next less obvious spot I noticed a possible spot ... and a short jiggle later had a cache in hand. Happy efforts.

Thanks for placing this cache, yamutha. Found in good condition.
Cool *{Overall find #4765}* Cool

Ah maths.... well we do like maths as a family, but big brother is the most talented and with some help here and there soon had something akin to coords, and they looked good. Out today and drove this way to check it out. Looked for a little while in where we thought it would be and no luck, was just taking a step back to think again and it was spotted after a poke and a prod.

Log signed 4B's and a P' to include Landyman123, Pinkducks, Legoman9494, Pprime and myself.

All in good order, thanks for the cache!! Smile

Another long weekend....another trip away..this time 1/2 of our team headed to Albury for a weekend of caching with Rapidlywild and Coruze. Day one was spent around Mt Disappointment where we finished up fairly late and headed to the hotel for a good nights rest. Day two we headed back to Albury the long way and collected a few more and meandered our way through all the little towns, nice change after a big day on the trail on Saturday. Today we were heading back to Canberra so we collected the solved puzzles and others around Albury before hitting the highway.

Thanks to all the cache owners for the placements and giving us a reason to come and check out another area of this country of ours, apologies for the generic log.

Thanks to Rapidlywild and Coruze for another enjoyable weekend.

A long weekend, what does that mean? Well GEOCACHING of course Big Grin

Long weekend was coming to an end, lots of caches collected and today we picked up some more around Albury/Wodonga before making our way home.

Ahh another maths cache Big Grin When you have the right tools, this one is a breeze, without those tools, well you can increase that difficulty a couple stars. No issues with the cache locating.

Thanks yamutha for the placement of this cache[^]Big Grin

I was heading to Canberra for the weekend visiting a friend and to attend a couple of events.
Just before I left I had a visit from my daughter and Grandson (Ben), now Ben LOVES going caching with me, and well to cut a long story short - it was a last minute decision....and Ben was packed and in the backseat shortly after!
The first thing that came out of his mouth was "Let's go find a cache!"
Another split decision later and we were standing at GZ [:o]
We jumped out and did the warrior stomp snake clobber dance and after a brief search (could see it on approach) the log was signed. Replaced ensuring it was properly hidden for the next cacher.
As for the puzzle...I scuffled through google for an online calculator but I wasn't having much luck. Pen to paper and I did okay for half but struggled with the other half. Not having a scientific calculator didn't help so I made a call out to a friend who ran it through for me. Lesson learnt - go buy a calculator lol
Thanks yamutha for the fun and frustration of another good puzzle cache [^]

# 10557. Another beautiful Autumn day dawned so Robmc and I headed north of the border to gather a few more caches and puzzles we have completed recently. The day started and ended in Albury after a meander through the countryside. A nice day's collection of 23 smilies.

Fortunately Rob has a mathematically attuned brain so this one was all his to solve. He did well but then transcribed the results incorrectly so we ended up 1.5km from the real GZ. He looked at the solution and realised the error and soon made our way to GZ and had the cache to hand, in a hide we have seen already today.

Thanks yamutha

14-Apr-16
We had solved a few puzzles north of the border, so BettyBoo3747 and I thought a spin around the countryside would be in order.

Not sure that the prospect of muggling really applies to this hide! Smile
Took a while to get to GZ as I had made a transcription error and so was a distance away. Fortunately that GZ was so unlikely!
Thanks, Robmc.

Been a while since I have seen some of these symbols , and probably longer since I have used them.
Bit of hit and miss but eventually got something that looked good on the map and decided I had done enough with the puzzle.
One last cache for the morning, and taking time to find it I thought I still must have stuffed something up, but persistence paid off when checking more thoroughly.

TFTC , Cheers.

Had a crack at this puzzle (with an online scientific calculator) when it came out but wasn't happy with the coords. Had another look @ it again while dining @ TheClazzas & realised my error. Minor tweak to one digit & was much happier with where it placed gz. Checked it out on the way home. Quick park n grab. SL & returned as found. Thanks for another great puzzle yamutha.

Out today for an early morning Australia day geocaching! My primary goal was to complete these yamutha puzzle caches that have been popping up in the last month.

After a huge failed FTF attempt in which I bumped into trigpoint tom at the incorrect location, I fixed up my coords and was here this morning for a no so quick but eventual find. Thanks yamutha for the fantastic cache, being a Mathematics teacher this was right up my alley!!

21-Jan-16
A belated 2TF after making a mess of the figures with the first attempt at this one a couple of days ago.
When the cache was published I sorted through the equations and came up with a set of co-ords that looked ok in theory. Whether a FTF was a viable option or not was depending on whether it had not been found by the time I had to come into town to go to work, well at least I thought anyway.
I arrived at "GZ" and things just didn't seem right, and after a few minutes looking it was a "DNF" and off to put my nose to the grindstone.
Later on that night the notification came through that Team Havenez found the cache (well done guys!) so I sat down and had another look at the calculations. Uh oh!
Today I had a leisurely trip to GZ and after the GPS settling down the well-hidden container was found.
SL at 2.30pm. All ok.
A fantastic puzzle and my only advice would be...use a scientific calculator and don't trust the online versions. Or maybe just accept I just stuffed up. Enjoyed the experience and meeting Joel from Team Joelisa in the process. TFTC yamutha.

Whoop Whoop *FTF* at 8:40pm.

Maths was never a strong point of mine so wasn't looking forward to this when it first came out, however it wasn't so bad after all.

Had a look and noticed it was still unlogged & only a couple of kms from home.
Luckily we bought the Ez boys as the eldest came up with the hide where our old eyes weren't looking.

Thanks for the Puzzle & cache nice and close to home.
TNLN & signed the wrong date on the log. Oops.
