A fun day caching with the dream team. This cache was a quickish find at GZ.Thanks, scruffyblake!
The team headed south by car for a few target caches as the weather was too lousy for a long hike and/or mountain cycle. Yet another beautiful old bridge in this region to admire as it's full of rich history. Sad that it's starting to fall apart but time ages 'us' all. Quick but tricky find. TFTC scruffyblake.
Found! Never confident approaching a micro on a bridge but this one deliveredLovely bridge tftc
2nd time looking for this cache and this time it only took a minute, surely it wasnt there last time I looked . But good to come back to this great bridge, I would have travelled over it back when I was a kid. TFTC
An impromptu road trip to the snowies allowed me to stop along the way to grab a plethora of caches. This was one of many finds I made for the trip.TFTC
Found after a bit of searching but what a beautiful bridge and a beautiful spot. TFTC
Awesome place!
And what a cool hide!
I just happened to stand on the correct spot and look into the correct direction (down) so this was finally an easy find for us!

First cab off the rank on a road trip with Baristayan down to Yarrongabilly Caves.
I’d certainly never noticed this bridge before! Absolute beast of a thing. Baristayan had the little fella in hand soon enough which marked a glorious start to the day…thanks!

Couldn’t find it. Some of it seems to be crumbling away, so perhaps it needs to be checked.
Caching around Canberra and surrounds for a few days. TFTC.
Looks to be on its last supports down one end.

Spent far longer here than I should have. Could've sworn I already checked that spot
Karma is a b!tch.
I had flown down to Canberra to meet up with Dez (JezNDez) for an extended weekend expedition in the Jagungal wilderness with the sole aim of hunting a FTF on a new virtual cache at Valentine Hut. After hiking a total of around 26km on Friday we had managed to successfully claim the FTF by a mere 15 minutes, thanks in part to the second finder stopping to find another cache on the way. On a cache involving the effort that this one took, being beaten by 15 minutes is the equivalent of 15 seconds on any normal cache. We were therefore feeling pretty sheepish and fortunate in having made it by such a fine margin.
After an overnight stay at Schlinks Hilton hut on Friday night and a more comfortable stay in Jindabyne on Saturday night, we were now making our way back to Canberra this morning to continue caching around the city before my flight home. At a geocaching event the previous day we had heard rumour of a new virtual cache expected to be published today, and sure enough this cache had appeared overnight. This would involve only a small detour from our route so we set coordinates into the navigation and placed the cache on watch.
Not far from this cache, Dez picked up a tailgater sitting hot on our heels. As we drove along the main road I had pointed out the old rail bridge and Dez though this would be an ideal opportunity to shake off our companion and go for a sticky beak at the bridge. Dez though this would be a cool spot for a cache and as we approached I did a quick check of the app we sure enough confirmed that someone else though the same thing and had placed a cache here already. Mindful that the FTF was still to be found, we jumped out in search of this cache. Valuable time ticked away as I set about the search in all the wrong places before Dez joined me after some photos and managed to put her hand on it almost straight away.
With the logbook signed and the cache replaced, we continued on the drive towards Tidbinbilla. We had actually joked earlier in the morning that it would be ironic if we were beaten to the find by a small margin, and indeed this is how the caching gods decided to play out the scenario, with a notification popping up that the first find had been made while we were only 5 minutes away. TFTC

Found It!
Another impressive old bridge. Took a lot of searching to find this one, that's surprisingly well hidden!

Nice to get off the highway and visit this old rail bridge. It took some looking and spotted the cache, signed and replaced, thanks.
Day #4 [17-2] of 5 for my trip away. It’s sad leaving the beach because reality has just started calling me. I know I’m still on holidays until the 20th but it already calling. However, I’m not going to let that stop me from enjoy every moment I have left of it. I started the day by heading to the beach to see it one last time. I also went to the ‘Cranky Café’ and had a brekky wrap for breakfast. Next, it was time to head back to the motel, pack the car and head off to Canberra, which was today’s main mission. I will need to return to Merimbula, with the correct TOTT and hints to ones I DNF, so I can find the rest of them next time… yes of course, visiting the beach. I found many caches along the way, most of which were quick and easy find. A couple took a little longer to find because of either I was site seeing and/or because I couldn’t find the cache for quite some time. I arrived at my motel in Canberra at 4:30pm and just enjoyed rest in the room. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTC’s
P.S. Sorry, about the generic logs. I will endeavour to edit them at some point in the future for the extended story, FP’s and/or photos. This is when I have more time on my hands.

En route to Thredbo. We decided to walk across the creek to retrieve the cache. What a sneaky hide and a beautiful rail bridge!
Beaut little hide and view of the mountains .
Found signed and replaced .
Many thanks for the sneaky hide.

Had fun with this hunt. Pin seems wrong side of creek. Needed comments, but got there. Bridge will be remembered
DNF on today's effort after Doing Forgotten Tunnel.
Pretty certain at correct pier and looking low , but there have been other floods since last found, but we will probably err on the side we didn't try hard enough this time around!

Wowww! This took us a while. Even found a "throw down" placed on the other side of the road behind the wood panels in the bank from 1st Jan 2021!! We should never assume it's been washedaway. Fav point from us.
Cool cache. Tucked away safely in perfect condition.
Visiting the coast for events and a few caches with barb2e and Kittykatch. Weather is fabulous.
Thanks For getting me out and about scruffyblake

Found with Joolay on our way home from the coast collecting a few local caches. Tftc
in the area while grabbing some caches just a quick grab and sign and placed back where it belong TFTC Scruffyblake & The S's
Geo/muggle hubby found this one. Lovely area. Found during a day out with the family. Fav point given for location and scenery. TFTC.
A beautiful bridge. The clues are good especially that the terrain is a 2.0. Everything in good order. I’m amazed it hasn’t been swept away in a flood. TFTC.
me and my geowife searched up and down side to side no luck seem missing will be back once fix
Why? I have searched for every cache today on the opposite side, but once sorted quickly found, great spot, very glad I stopped here, HAPPY NEW YEAR
At last!!!! Out with dty73 and Tankengine. This has been a bugbear on our map for some time. One of those caches where you get cacheblindness regardless of how hard you look. Hate to admit it but dty73 had it in hand in about 30seconds after we arrived at GZ. One of those caches that once found, have you saying “.....@#$&%+ so why couldn’t we see that before?” Thanks Scruffyblake and The S’s for a year’s worth of head scratching. FP from us. Kutgw
Spent the day picking up a few caches with Youban and Tankengine. We had other plans, but they got a little skewed and we ended up still having a great day out.
This cache: Youban had mentioned this cache before and it seemed the cache just kept running away from them. Today we thought we would all give it a go. Luckily it just took a fresh pair of eyes to see what had been there in front of them the whole time.
Another nice spot and bridge and the log and container are all in good condition.
Tftc Scruffyblake & The S’s!!!

I give up! Second time here, and still couldn't find it (unless it is buried in flood debris). Bridge is *not* fire affected, that area is down the road a little bit.
Looks like fire and water has been through. Loved the location and disappointed not to find
A very tricky hide which took us some time to find. Signed and replaced. The cache is in good condition.TFTC
Turned off the highway whilst heading back to Canberra and braced ourselves for DSD's crazy driving along the dirt/gravel road to this cache.
Parked nearby and after reading the hint and heading to the GZ the cache was spotted fairly quickly. Lucky too as it was a good hide and could have taken a while, just got lucky I started searching in the correct spot!
Thanks, loving this series very much

I stopped by here after the ACT Long Distance Orienteering Champs near Jerangle. This took a while to find, but pleased to get there in the end. Nicely hidden. TFTC.

Unfortunately a great weekend is coming to its end. Getting ready to go home, but not before grabbing a last few caches along the way.

Found on the way to Queensland with aqau, doing the mystery in the museum.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
Bumbled along Bumbalong Rd, searched for 30 minutes at GZ, and even with the generous hint and extending the search radius 15m ended up with a DNF.
Thanks for highlighting this forgotten bridge - now I need to forget this DNF .

It's there alright just keep looking took a couple of minutes found on my geo tour around the area... TFTC
Could the CO please check that this cache is actually here as this is our second go. Kutgw
This was either not there anymore or to well hidden for us thanks anyway great spot
A Canberra Bushwalking Club trip with JohnnyBoyACT and 9 muggles starting from here and following the rail line to the Rothlyn Road intersection, a distance of about 23 kilometres. A few caches on the way. TFTC.
A [Canberra Bushwalking Club](https://canberrabushwalkingclub.org/) trip to recce the rail line north and south of Bredbo for the upcoming [Save Kosci](https://savekosci.org/) walk from Sydney to Mt Kosciuszko. Led by Marmaduke Rothschild. A chance to log this cache while the car shuttle happened. TFTC.
Sadly a DNF for this one. With quite a few places it could be, this was a long search. Some better guidance on where to look would be nice. After trying to search as per the clue, it was then just a general search of the whole area with nothing to be found.
Found after a small search and having the local that drove past thinking I was mad or something worst. TFTC.
I stopped off on the way home from Jindabyne to have a go at finding this cache. I clambered all over and was delighted to make the sneaky find after quite a search. Cache in good condition. Thanks for the hide SB
Found on a road trip to Mystery Bay for Christmas via Cooma. What a great construction this bridge is! Very admirable. And a sneaky hide of a cache had us hunting for a bit... being the shorter I spotted, and sent the muggle hubby in for the retrieve. TFTC and interesting placement, bringing us out here. A favourite for not only the location of the cache (sneaky), but a fab bridge and a historic insight.
Will be back to go for the 10km return walk for the further cache, but today, pushing 35C before the cool change had come, decided to retreat the comfort of the vehicle.

Search for so long and about to give up but grand daughter wanted to stay so looked a bit longer. Yes there it is.
*16/7/17, Found @ 4:01 pm, Find # 6853.*
While on my way home after the afternoon event which I had to leave a little early, I was about to drive passed this one so I decided to stop for a look for the cache and the bridge.
This one was a little off the main road but its another trestle bridge to look at so why not, the cache was a little tricky but I was helped by the fact that someone had dropped there pen and I had spotted it, as I was looking at that I then spotted the cache.
**Thanks to scruffyblake & The S's for placing this cache.**

Found with Lpud on the way home finally! Very sneaky. I spotted it and Lpud retrieved it. TFTC
Before the return leg of our trip, i had managed to get a few pointers from the CO, to the likely area this sneaky might be hide hanging out.
We increased the difficulty level by a factor of 10, by doing it at night.
Thankfully our high output headlamps, actually gave us an added advantage.
BonEm spotted something unusual and i was at the right angle to grab it.
Thanks Scruffyblake & The S's for your prompt communication and handy hints/directions.
love the location and the bridge.. gets a fav from me.

Really like these old bridges with such great architecture. When you spend some time searching for a cache, you get to appreciate the effort and toil that would have gone into constructing and maintaining this bridge.
Thanks for bringing us out this way. After a thorough search of the likely and unlikely spots with about 30mins down we just couldn't locate the sneaky hide.
Will try again if we have time on the return leg.

Spent quite a bit of time looking here in this lovely spot but despite getting a splinter came away empty handed. Reluctantly went back to the car to continue our trip. Might have to have another look on the way back
Spent a while looking here on both sides of the creek, but couldn't find it. As usual found a few good hiding spots, but obviously not the right one! Some flood debris around the poles, so maybe it was in there. Started to rain, so I continued down the road to have a look at the river. Nice location.
Stopped by with the CO to do some maintenance, found as part of 4as1 TFTC TNLNSL still a great location and tricky hide
Still on leave for another few days, so we decided to take a run to Cooma and pick up a few caches along the way. Heading home, and getting a couple of caches on this side of the road.
I spent a long time looking for this. We even assumed the GPS could be out and Mrs Big Dad found a really good spot, cleverly concealing a tricky hide. Unfortunately it didn't have a cache in it. I kept going back to where the GPS said it would be and looked around. Fortunately I looked at the right spot from the right angle. CIH soon afterwards, signed and returned safely to it's place.
teh engineering is fantastic, especially considering the volume of water that can flow down this creek. It was work=th the trouble of looking around. If I had found the cache quickly I wouldn't have spent as much time admiring the work that went into this bridge, TFTC, and worth a favourite for the place and the ingenuity (both the engineers and yours, scruffyblake!

Another magnificent old bridge on this forgotten line, and in our case another attempt after a DNF some months ago. We might have been in for another disappointment if we hadn't got some advice from a friend, causing us to look somewhere we had obviously missed last visit. A favourite point for such a beauty of a bridge, thanks scruffyblake.
TFTC. searched for 20 minutes and was about to give up when Mrs Jaybeem says, according to the satellite picture it should be there. so back across the creek we go and after a brief search, had the cache in hand. Top Cache!!
5159. I found myself a little further along this road for work, so I popped in for an unsuccessful hunt on my way in.
After the work was done, I stopped in for another look. This time the sneaky little critter was discovered.
Thanks SB for the cache and the fun.

Well no luck yesterday but asked owner for a clue and drove back from canberra today and it was so obvious that you feel like givin ya self an upper cut sometimes we look to hard and just miss it all together thanks for the cache the ewoks
Found on the Western Bulldogs' first day as premiers. After parking near the bridge, we crossed the creek and arrived at GZ where the cache was spotted after a few minutes of searching. This was a very clever hide that we really enjoyed, well hidden and very creative! Cool little bridge. TFTC scruffyblake!
nice hide, just enough exposed for me to see otherwise it would have been a DNF, TYFTC
Late in the day and not much daylight left, but we thought we had time for this one. We spent quite a while here, looking in several places but couldn't get the gps to settle to a single location. One of the few DNFs where I came away feeling some satisfaction because we enjoyed a really good combing over the structure, seeing the methods and skills used to construct this old wonder.
