Based on the comments, I think it's safe to say this one wasn't exactly safe from the flood... And although there was a find in November, I'm pretty sure I found the spot and that it is gone
Thank you for bringing us to this very special place for our 900th cache find. Sl. Tftc
I tried this one about 2 years ago, absolutely no way, vertically challenged. Today, there is this wonderful structure and how easy is that now! Really enjoyed the sculptures and designs, just wish the keepers would look after the banks a bit more.A very pleasant experience and thanks for taking me there.
I'm in Christchurch with my wife who is undergoing surgery in Christchurch Hospital and what better way to take my mind on what's happening to her than to go geocaching. On Sunday I ended up doing 100 caches in a day with the help of the Thompsons Track and a few others. So the next few days the numbers are somewhat less. After scaring the bejeebers out of myself on an unsuccessful FTF hunt in the Red Zone the other night, today it is my intention to scope out the area in daylight. Already noting that there were certain areas of the Red Zone with disabled caches or ones with lots of recent DNFs, I selected this area which indicated a better hit rate.
This was a quick find despite not fully understanding the hint, (even after finding it), maybe because it was a bit exposed for all to see when viewed from the right place. I covered it with a bit of natural camouflage when I replaced it. I'm guessing if this one gets washed away in the floods, the city is going to have a lot to worry about.

Last time we were here we had no luck but a quick find today. Easy to write on log which is a little damp but nowhere near saturated.
Great spot down by the river, I enjoyed finding this cache. Thank you. Visited with my dog and a trackable. TFTC.
Safe from floods for sure, but not from falling water . The container is in good condition, but was filled with water. Hopefully the paper is waterproof. Still changed the zipbag for a smaller one with no holes. Hope this helps for a while as the place is really nice. We spent quite a time around, looking at all the installations that were made, and at the landscape to find were land had sunk. Thanks for the informations and the maintenance of the cache !
We are currently visiting Christchurch awaiting the birth of our 5th grand child and decided to head out while the sun was shining to find a few caches. The cache was found easily enough during our walk. With our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you TwoSharpe for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Beautiful spot, cashe container was sitting in water and filled with water, quick find. Tftc.
Found with buttchugger and caitcvlt, Took a few minutes but it was in the most obvious spot. Cheers!
Ha brand new feature here certainly makes the find easier. Popped new paper in, all dry now
I have tried to find this one before with no luck but today it was an easy find thanks to the addition in the nearby area. It helped this short person.
With the added addition of a seating platform those of us previously vertically challenged now have no excuse. As noted before old log sodden.
Just as well we had a rare companion, M5 Junior who had the height to reach this one. TFTC

On my morning jog picking up a few caches, not too much hassle with this one thanks
On my morning jog picking up a few caches, not too much hassle with this one thanks
All quiet here today so I was able to quickly duck under the rope barrier without disturbing the new plantings. While it should certainly be safe from the highest flood waters up there, somehow the log has become so waterlogged it's just a sodden ball of pulp. It seems some cachers haven't quite grasped how to securely close a zip lock bag when replacing the cache! Dried the bag inside & out as best I could but the old log is still a total loss. Signed the new waterproof log sheet that a recent kind cacher has added. TFTC
Seems to be a bit of planting work going on around cache, fenced off so couldn’t get to it without muggle seeing
Bit tall for me, Mr TS, so I came with the youngest member of Team B and lifted him lineout style to grab the cache. Log sheet a sodden mess (must have been rain since it's "safe from flood") so I put in a couple of sheets of waterproof paper as replacement log. Cheers for the memorable fun. Tom loved it. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent aka TB (prev known as BJ25). Find # 1765
School holidays so I took the afternoon to do some city caching with Miss 5 while her sister was on a play date. Quick easy find. Thanks for the effort that goes into placing and maintaining a cache series.
Thanks for this find. Found, but very soggy, couldn't sign log - didn't have anything to replace it with sorry!
I examined a number of possible trees but being quite a bit less than 6ft, it was a bit of a cursory search. Finally I narrowed it down to one possible and was going to leave it because it was too high. I actually started walking away when I was inspired to drag my bicycle over and use it as a climbing frame/scaffolding. Voila! Thanks for placing the cache.
Lovely walk on Easter Sunday. Ambling along the loop of the river we wondered what would happen to this beautiful part of the city. Hopefully it will not be covered in a new subdivision or sterile sports fields, but become parkland with maybe a pleasant café…

I have been visiting my family in Christchurch this Easter, and we went on a lovely walk along the Avon on a Sunday afternoon. It was really fascinating to see the suburban landscape returning to wilderness - or at least, a peculiar kind of wilderness of lawns outlined by trees like so many little park squares! All but one of the caches along this route were found, with enough challenge to make them fun but not so much as to frustrate.
Thank you very much for the caches!
Thank you very much for the caches!
Finally, I have now managed to sign this one off. Had been here on a previous visit but was unable to reach the cache. Today I managed to find something to climb up on so went away feeling very happy Tftc
We'll that's just weird. Last time I was here my GZ was at a different tree - even after I went and got the truck so I could stand on it and look. This time it took me straight to the correct spot for an easy find. First to sign the new log paper; sadly it's already showing signs of damp. I suspect the container isn't as water tight as you'd hope.

Gotcha!! Needs some jumping. Easy hide so far! Thanks for the hint. But the logbook is wet. Owner pls check. Needs a new one.
Initially I parked at the road closed sign and walked to GZ. Felt around in the obvious spots given I'm also 6' tall but no luck. Tried harder. Nope. Went and got the car and backed up so I could stand on the spare wheel for a proper look. It's seems I couldn't find the cache as it wasn't there. There *was* a good size leopard slug though.
We had a nice walk in town next to the river. The cache was found quickly and we could sign the logbook.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

An easy find. Log too wet to sign, but managed to put my initials AS on damp bag with marker pen. TFTC!

More after work cache finding. Making the most of the fact that I've had to be starting work a little earlier since I can no longer run to work in the mornings & need to be dropped off instead, but daughters daycare still finishes at the same time, so noone even notices that mum & I actually have about half an hour each day to 'detour' on the way home lol!
A very speedy find here - no idea how mum missed it last time she was here! - And she was actually tall enough to reach unlike me!

Took all I had to reach. As previously callers mentioned cannot sign as waterlogged
Fast found at a little Avon-River-tour, but it was really hard for me to reach the box and helped myself with “longer arms“ (1,69m)
TFTC
The box and the logbook is completly wet.

Too short to grab this one. Luckily had my trusty (taller by an inch) sidekick along with me. Log was too wet to sign. Tried anyway.
With whitebaiters directly across the river it wasn't possible to check the obvious spot so will revisit when next in Chch.

Well, after reading the hint, the hiding place was very obvious. There was only one place where the cache could be and, yest, it was there!
Ironically, there was a lot of water inside, and the logbook was completely drenched. I poured the water out but the log was unsignable so I took a real poor quality photolog picture with my 1mpix cameraphone.
Not so safe from the floods after all, aye?

I absolutely could not make this one work! The GPS put me right between two potential hint objects, with the other detail close for both, so I checked both of them, with no luck. They I investigated the patch of vegetation close by, still nothing, except wet feet as I was looking up and not where I was stepping I will be back!
Luckily have a tall helper who found it straight away. Log is soaking wet though. Tftc
It might be safe from floods, but the rain has done a number on it. A bit damp underfoot still, the ducks are loving it. Cheers
5 July 2017 19:53. Started by scaring all the ducks away with my torch, taking one step up and two steps back then going for my height adjuster from the boot of the Geomobile before finally getting the cache! TFTC TwoSharpe. Caches found #3007
Took a couple of goes to retrieve. Now I've really got wet feet from all the wet grass tftc
