During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we arrived in Cradle Mountain yesterday. Today we have all day to go walking in the area.During our walk we also pass Marion's View and this earth cache. We looked for the answers and took a nice photo.**Team Zawadzki**, thanks for the cache.

We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. Yesterday we drove from Strahan to Craddle Mountain. Today we took the bus to the National Park for a nice long walk. We had not planned to hike to the top but we came near and it was just such a fine day for it. A clear blue sky. So we couldn't resist and made the climb. It was hard but once there we were rewarded with a splendid view all around. Well worth effort. After this top experience we hiked on to Marion's view where we had lunch. Yet another great spot, what an amazing view.. Thank you very much for this earthcache at this spledid spot.

This is the most breathtaking view I have seen. TFTC

16-Mar-24
After making our way to the summit, we walked back along the overland track towards Marions Lookout. With views of both dove lake and cradle lake, Id say its almost a better view than at the summit. Thank you for creating this earthcache, great to stop along the walk to appreciate the geology on a beautiful sunny day.

Sent our information and answers to the cache owner for review. Thanks for an interesting geology lesson in a fun location. Sallymander was taking a stroll on the Overland track and beyond.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. From 7th March to 14th March 2024, I and J plus the little one visited Tasmania. On the trip, we found about 80 caches, including traditional cache, multi cache, mystery cache, virtual cache, Earth cache, and Adventure Lab cache. We spent six and a half days in Tasmania, and really enjoyed it.Cradle Mountain is must-visit in Tasmania. We hiked all the way to the Marion's lookout.Excellent view here!Tried this EarthCache while we were at the Marion's lookout.Answers have been sent to the cache owner. Also attached a photo with this log. Thanks for the EarthCache, Team Zawadzki. Stopped here on our way to the Summit. Had really awesome weather and the view was fantastic. Greetings from Germany

Today I climbed Cradle Mountain. I cant quite believe I made it, it was not without struggle and one melt down but I got there in the end. I needed Geohusband to haul me up on very big stretch. Anyway the rest of that story is for a different log. This morning we set off at 7.15am from Ronny car park and headed up the Overland Track, great walk. It was very misty/foggy and quite chilly. When we got to Marions Lookout we couldnt see anything but this was OK as we were pretty hopeful the weather would clear for the walk back down. And it did. Absolutely spectacular views we spent quite some time here on the way up and the way down (on the way up to check Premier League scores, my team won 3 - 2 and on the way back down to recover and soak up the views)To be honest I had completely forgotten about this EC so hoping our memories and photos will assist with the answers.TFTC its a fantastic walk and we loved it

A challenging hike to Marions Lookout- but the view was well worth it. Perfect weather. Thanks.

Found on 18/1/24 with D on a walk from Dive Lake. The weather was pretty bad so we didnt continue to Cradle Mt. the rain was sideways and very windy! Answers emailed with photo of Dove lake in the background but obscured by cloud!! What a great spot.

I am visiting Cradle Mountain, doing the walks, and collecting the caches. After an exhaustive climb, I finally got to "Marion Lookout". As always the final views made the climb worthwhile. I climbed up from the "Dove Lake" track, and decided to do the more scenic route down via the "Horse Track" back to Ronny Creek (and the shuttle). The answers to the questions were messaged to the CO.

This Earthcache was an absolute favourite of ours. I honestly cant believe it doesnt have more favourite points. Getting here wasnt easy for our team, but we persevered and pushed on, and made it.It was an amazing day out.We started by taking the shuttle to Ronny Creek, where we took the Overland Track, past Crater Falls (amazing!), past Crater Lake (amazing) and up to Marions Lookout. It was such a beautiful day and we could see everything from the lookout. We came back down past the Wombat Pool, Lake Lilla before doing some of the Dove Lake circuit, then catching the shuttle back from Dove Lake. The whole walk was incredible.Answers have been sent to the CO.TFTC and greetings from Melbourne.

Honestly one of the best treks in Tasmania. Although you can't go wrong in this beautiful state. We started our hike at Ronny's and took the Overland up to Marion's before heading down to Dove Lake. There were some challenging sections but a joy to do with the wife and kidsThanks for the cache

In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find.Teamed up with chrisant2017 and happyjoco1 and a few family muggles to do this. It was a great day, weather wise to do the climb to the summit and then via Marion's Lookout on the way back down. The views were spectacular along the way and very rewarding, after the long walk. Given a fav for the whole experience. Thanks Team Zawadzki for placing so we can find this cache.

This was our first day on the Overland track. We had just had a quick 'swim' at the Crater Lake and I was only just getting feeling back in my feet when we got to the bottom of Marion's lookout!! Scampering up definitely helped get the blood flowing. Geodaughter had taken an excellent panoramic photo, but I can't seem to upload that. So this what we saw from the bottom and from the top. Thanks for the Earthcache.

13-Nov-23
Answers have been sent!Hiked up here on day one of the overland track and it was a great test of the lungs which were slowly recovering from a viral illness. What a great view up here. Over the following few days I saw a lot of rocks!TFTC

A great place for a cache and to relax along the Cradle Mountain hike. Loved the views. Thanks for the cache.

01-Nov-23
Wow, what an awesome hike. We heard Cradle Mountain was expecting snow, so we changed plans and made our way to hopefully catch the snow while we were there. On our second day we decided to do Crater Lake and got off the shuttle bus at Ronny Creek. What a great choice. We made our way up and along and with the weather getting clearer and clearer, we decided to go up to Marion's Lookout. What a spectacular view we got. We set about gathering our answers and then climbed a little further. We made it back in just under 3 hours and absolutely will not forget this climb. We are now keen to do the Cradle Mountain summit hopefully one day soon. Thanks Team Zawadzki a favourite point coming your way Smile

15-Aug-23
A pit stop along the way on a freezing day with good company. Not another soul in sight. We were so touched by act of kindness at the end when some strangers gave us a lift back to the lodge so we didn’t have to walk 10km back to car (we missed the shuttle bus!)

Thank you

30-May-23
The kids and I did not necessarily plan to hike Marion's. We had 3 walks planned, and it was all weather dependant. Our day trip to Cradle Mountain was a perfect one with clear skies and a light wind so like most of the other tourists on the bus we headed from the Dove Lake centre along the circuit past Lake Lilla and Wombat Pool before heading up to Marion's. My heavily strapped knee was not a fan of all the stairs, and there were a few times I wanted to give up. My kids kept telling me it was ok if we turned back, but I didn't want to disappoint them or myself by missing out on the view from the top, so onward we climbed.
We were well rewarded and I'm thankful for pushing through

#5329, 2023-03-05 at 12:30,

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.

Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

What a cache to do for my 1000th find
An amazing place. Spectacular views and we were blessed with amazing weather. The climb up was hard going for me but I’m glad I did it. Thanks for the Earth Cache! F/P given for the views

30-Jan-23
We had a great time visiting at hiking at Cradle Mountain National Park. We opted to go from the Dove Lake circuit, which was steep, but at least not too long. Getting up to the lookout definitely tested our fitness but we had a great view from the top with no clouds in sight.

05-Jan-23
Found with aspitbiker and FF. My answers are in his log. A great walk however fog and mist prevented us from seeing dove lake clearly. TFTC.

05-Jan-23
Found with Firstfox and Famished Fox on an amazing day. We set off in the mist and rain and we had rainbows at Marion’s view before it eventually cleared when we hit the summit on the top of Cradle Mountain. A great day out. This is a special place. Answers sent to the CO. TFTC

Hiking around Cradle Mountain has been high on my todo list for years & today we made it! After enjoying the views & the amazing location, we set about answering the questions for this earthcache. And then soaked in the views some more over lunch before heading down to Dove Lake. Thanks for the EC, this an amazing place worthy of a FP.

29-Dec-22
What a cache found while hiking from Ronny Creek to the Cradle Mountain summit great spot for some morning tea.

29-Sep-22
Wow what a fantastic view. We hiked up from dove lake, very steep but rewarding. The weather was spectacular - perfectly clear and sunny and barely any wind but enough to dry up the sweat from the hike up the mountain.
On our way down we went through crater waterfall - wow! The moss-laden logs and rocks were gorgeous. I dipped my tired feet in the icy water and it was the best feeling in the world. Definition of refreshing. Then on the boardwalk we saw a dozen wombats just munching their way along the grass. They were so chill. Surprised so many of them around at 3 in the arvo.

Even at a rainy day worth a visit. Great views!

Tftc, found after two long days up Mt Inglis and Mt Emmet

09-Feb-22
We came here as part of the Overland Track.

After we climbed the bit using the chain, my wife said "We have to do the rest of the track as I can't go back down the chain.". That was the inspiration we needed to keep going for 6 days.

Great views from here. I will send the answers and included a photo in my log

02-Feb-22
I camped at Lake Barrington the night before. As I has arrived late to Cradle Mt yesterday I went back earlier today to hopefully reach the top. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as yesterday, strong winds and the temperature changing from hot to cold quite frequently, so I only went so far up.
This was as high as I was willing to go today. If I had come yesterday I could have gone to the top. Maybe next time.
Thanks for the cache.

13-Jan-22
Thanks for this great cache from a beautiful lookout! We were lucky with the weather and completed it on our way back from the summit of cradle mountain!!

Very windy

13-Oct-21
We visited this location a long time ago but I collected the earthcache information and forgot to answer/log it. Today I found the photos and realised my oversight.

It was a great day of hiking and only 2 of us ventured all the way up to the GZ. The earthcache was my inspiration but the view was the reward.

We were staying at the Scout Hut to celebrate my birthday, which is next week. We walked up to Marions Lookout in the morning in beautiful weather. There were nine of us - four children ranging in age from 6 months to 13 years and five adults. We had a couple of pauses on the way and a longer stop at the lookout to collect the information and take in the views. We then walked on to the creek before Kitchen Hut and stopped for lunch. After that my grandson (13), my daughter, my wife and I went on to Cradle Mountain while my son, his wife and three children (0, 4 and 6) returned to the hut to cook the roast lamb. A fantastic day with the added bonus of an Earthcache.

Started to snow while we were here so didn't stay long. Answers sent to CO.

TFTC it was a very cold windy day at this location, it was still interesting to look for the answers and it made being at this location more interesting.

07-Mar-21
Heading out on a spectacular day with some low cloud about, it was a quick March up from the lake to GZ. A few tourists had managed to make it up there before me, so I squeezed through the crowds to get a photo or two before heading out for the day. TFTC!!!

I’ve wanted to come to Tasmania for ever, it’s always just been too expensive to bring our 4wd and van over, nearly 2.5k just for the boat (return) that $ always seemed to be have been better off spent ‘up the road’ on the big island for a few weeks rather than coming over. Anyway when plans were made to do a Big Lap we knew that it must respectfully include a lap of the little Island as well.
Having sold our hobby farm and put all of our possessions into storage here you have us, on the road wild and free in Tasmania.
Cradle Mountain has always been at the top of my list personally and today it didn’t disappoint. Walking Dove lake, Wombat Pool, Crater Lake, Marions Lookout and back down the Overland track through the waterfall area and down to Ronnies I got my fill. I was lucky my family could do it, Geo son is currently missing the tops of four toes after a bad MTB fall last night and Geo Dad’s old footy injuries were feeling the onset of the colder weather.
No pink Robins to be seen but I heard one.
Glacial scratching seen in various locations, beautiful King Billy pines and an absolute plethora of indescribable beauty all around.
We did very few caches, thank you for being one of the caches we found.

Fantastic views from Marion's lookout. An absolutely stunning blue sky day . We were on our way to the summit of Cradle Mountain and stopped here to admire the views and to learn about the geology of the area.

A great lookout on my hike up Cradle Mountain. TFTC

17-Nov-20
Wow what a place. Started out at Ronny Creek and made our way up to the top of Crater Lake. We have two young geokids (8 and 6) but thought let's try to get up to the lookout. They did so well and we made it up to Marion's Lookout without any problems. Absolutely stunning views and well worth the climb. Answers sent to the CO. TFTC

Down from Brisbane on hols with IolantheK.
Another one of many on our travels through Tassie [^]
Enjoyed this cache and was suprised to find we managed to walk the Overland track from Ronny Creek to Face track then Lake Wilks Track and finally return by eastern Dove lake track Smile.
We started at 9:30 and with all the stops finished at 16:00 [^]
Had one of those bazaar moments whilst collecting answers. We had been following a group and one of the was dressed in a suit Surprised
To cut a long story short at GZ another of the group donned a wedding dress and they did a photo shot Razz

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!

Today we are taking a bit of a hike around Cradle Mountain! Yet another bucket list item ticked off Big Grin We left the bus at Ronny Creek at 9.30am, taking Overland Track past Crater Lake, headed up to Marions Lookout, then further up to Kitchen Hut where we had our lunch at 12noon. We considered attempting the summit of Cradle Mountain, but figured it would add a couple of hours and was known to have a vertical climb, so decided not to, and took Face Track along the base of Cradle Mountain and Weindorfers Tower, then took the sharp descent down Lake Wilks Track, then followed the Dove Lake Circuit Track past Honeymoon Island and Glacier Rock back to the Dove Lake bus stop, arriving at 3.50pm. Quite an adventure [^]

I was not sure whether I'd get up here, but in the end it was very doable. Love the views up here. I have sent my answers to the CO. TFTEc, Team Zawadzki.

This was day one on the overland track and the weather was reasonably good for us. Getting to Marion's View is a sign most of the day's climbing is done (with the exception of Cradle Mountain), so we took sometime to eat lunch here and gather the information for this earthcache. A fantastic spot for an Earthcache.

Thanks Team Zawadzki for the cache.

Well we encountered the most vicious weather on our visit to Marion's Lookout, in fact I can't even say there was anything to look out on to. The wind was howling and strong (some say 100km per hour), it was pelting with rain and we were getting stung by the sideways rain as it hammered our faces. We were embarking on the overland track walk as a family. Mr EMC quickly grabbed some photos whilst we were there so we could answer the questions at a better time. There is no way we could have walked around with a pen and paper writing notes. In fact the weather was so bad the next day we rescued three people who had caught hypothermia in the snow and cold winds. We were with them 2 days in Kitchen Hut with the police and 2 paramedics. Thankfully we had a Garmin Inreach SOS with us so we could set off the emergency alert. It took 2 days for the helicopter to land and safely airlift them out. Will dig out answers and send photos and answers to you shortly. Cheers. Eatmorchikin from Brisbane.

An absolutely beautiful day at Cradle Mountain so we decided to make the most of it and head towards Cradle itself and stop at Marion's on the way. I have been here a few times in the past and seen stunning views of the mountain both on clear and wet/snow days. After taking the obligatory photos I set about getting the answers for this EC. To get the most out of our day at Cradle Mountain, we walked from Ronny's Creek along Crater Lake to Marion's View and then back along Lila Lake to Dove Lake car park.
It cost us more sweat than expected, but it was worth every drop of it!!
A bit disapointing it was crowded at GZ by the time we arrived here. Too much people busy with how they appear on facebook or Instagram, but without the patience to relax and enjoy the view.

Great cache. Very windy coming up and the clouds cleared after summiting Cradle.

Had a day of awesome weather in the area today. 20 years ago (the last time I was here) I summited in a white out. Today whilst cold at the top, visibility was endless!

Today Blueiris and I arrived in Tasmania and our first thing on our Bucket List was Cradle Mountain. We did it, we climbed Cradle Mountain. We started early from Ronny Creek and followed the Overland Track up to Cradle Mountain via Marion's View by Team Zawadzki, then up to the summit. The climb was tough and very steep. We then hiked along the Face Trail and down Lake Wilks Track to Dove lake. The hike was harder than we expected but we enjoyed every minute of it. It took us 7.5 hours in total.

After dropping my bag off at nearby BP Scout Lodge, I headed up here to find this cache. On my last trip along The Overland I went along the Horse Track and did not visit this location.

Great views, despite the coll breeze. Luckily for me it was a very clear day.

Answers noted, I took some photos and headed down to Crater Lake for a swim.

Cheers

I cannot remember when I came up to the top of cradle mountain but it was some time in the past two years. I realised today that I had photos and answers to the earth cache answers. TFTC

Reperio at 0700.

Having arrived at Cradle Mountain yesterday, it was decided that today would be the only time that I would have to make the walk up to the summit of Cradle given other family priorities for our holiday. I headed off before dawn, and with the air so chilly, welcomed the uphill climb along the stairs to warm up.

Once at the lookout and GZ, I located the cache quickly enough, and then took in the views in the early morning light. Splendid! With time the essence, I didn't stay too long in favour of getting up and down Cradle before lunchtime.

Gratias Team Zawadzki.

Made the trek up to Marions in some substantial snow, which made the walk up and down a lot slower so that we didn't slip. Although there wasn't any snowfall, for the whole day Cradle Mountain wasn't visible, and conditions were quite windy up on Marions.

Ok - a few days late but that happens when we head off out of range. What a fabulous day. Fantastic to see so many people make the journey. Hope to return some day TFTC

Wow what a spectacular spot!! I loved the stretch from here to the kitchen hut. Like being on top of the world!! Very interesting flora and i spied the disappearing tail of an unknown little mountain creature as scurried off into the bushes! My mountain spirit animal i liked to think!!

With answers sent to CO - i’m finally logging this earth cache. If i’m being honest i tend to avoid logging earth caches just because i feel like i’m writing an essay & most likely failing. What i do love about earthcaches is the beautiful locations they take you to and this is definitely one of them! We took the steeper harder track up to Marions lookout as we were headed up Cradle Mountain to the summit and wanted to try to get there quicker. Haaaa! Silly idea i know!
Ended up going up to Marions, onto the kitchen hut up the mountain to the summit and back doen and around via dove lake. Totalling 8 hrs of hiking for day 1 we did the suggested waterfalls on day 2

Day 1 of our Overland track adventure was rainy, windy and therefore cold. We stayed at Waldheim cabins overnight so we could start early on the track and tackle both Cradle Mountain summit and Barn Bluff. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas. A steep start to the track getting up to Marion's with the full packs and we concur, this was the hardest day. We stopped for a photo of the cloud before heading up to Kitchen hut where we grabbed a bite in the shelter. Cradle Mountain summit was sadly shelved Sad and we instead headed straight through to Windermere for the night. Thanks for the opportunity to get at least one of our planned caches! Smile
