After spending most of the day in the hot sun at a sporting event up north, I thought I should make use of the long evening to pick up a few caches in the Puketi area before heading home.

Initially this was going to be a dnf, but after I realised all the other caches in the area were exactly where they should be and the previous log was a dnf, I was certain that the two headlight caches were missing, although not sure why they would get muggled or removed.

I had a couple of spare containers in the cache mobile, and was heading back past these on my way back to Whg, so hope I was being helpful by placing a replacement in the hint location. TFTC

NZ is back at level 2 so we can go geocaching again. Please wash your hands and stay safe. Happy caching!

IMPORTANT: Due to New Zealand's recent State of Emergency declaration and a nationwide lockdown due to commence at 11.59pm Wednesday 25 March, this geocache is disabled until further notice. Logs from now until the lockdown is officially lifted will be deleted. While geocaching is a fantastic was to get physical exercise and support good mental health, there is risk of spreading the virus by many people handling a geocache. Not worth the risk. Stay home and solve a puzzle instead! Kia kaha. Be kind. Stay home. Wash your hands.

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!
TFTC

*Was not too many geocaches around but this area offered a reasonable number, although a lot of dusty roads as well!*

Found this one on my way back from the Kauris. Quick find. Thanks for hiding!

16-Jan-19
I'm not quite sure, but this one looks to me like a wesp starting to buildt a nest right above the cache... Maybe the cache has to be moved before it's getting wild down there...

I spotted sign of Puketi on the road at last night. A book guide helped us decide to visit this original forest. So far we are heading for a small Kauri circuit.

Thanks for the cache.

Včera večer jsem zahlédl na silnici směrovku na Puketi. Letmý pohled do knižního průvodce nás navnadil. Zatím míříme k malému Kauri okruhu.

Díky za keš.

Out for a bit of a drive this morning to collect a few caches. Stopped for this one on our way back. Thanks.

I am having a drive around near Kerikeri today picking up the odd cache. I found this one floating in a lake at the base of the post. Luckily there was an abundance of rocks here and I placed some of them in the lake so the cache would always be high and dry.

Cheers for the cache.

TFTC. It is a lovely drive through this location although it was a very misty and wet evening.

I was up in Whangarei for the long weekend and today joined up with tikitour and PageHeart for an all day road trip around Russell, Waitangi, Kerikeri and the outskirts of Puketi Forest. It was a great day out with great company, lots of caches found and pleasingly not a single DNF! We mostly signed the logs with some variation of TPV for our caching names.

Towards the end of the day we drove around the back roads by Puketi Forest, finding all the caches around here. All caches were nice quick park and grabs. TFTC!

Out for a days geocaching road trip with mr tikitour, Vistra and Pageheart. travelling around the mid north and into Puketi forest. What a great day, weather was good, great company , lunch on a deck overlooking the beautiful Tapeka point and not a DNF today.....we signed the log in variations of TPV to save space and time.

After visiting the forest we toured around to pick up all the new caches. Thanks for placing.

31-Jan-16
So today saw a geocaching adventure with Vistra, Tikitour and myself. Our adventurer started early in the morning and saw us heading for a bunch of caches both new and old in Russel and Puketi Forest and surrounding back-roads. In total we spent over 14 hours on the road and out caching visiting places that we would never have gone without caching,
Logs were signed with initials VTP or a variation of the letters to save time and space.

Thanks for the quick park and grab!

No kiwis out this early. Just a couple of caching friends on a FTF mission. I had the cutest Kiwi Travel Bug at one stage that I took to the Puketi caches further along the road from here. Wished I had him here tonight. My brother lives at Rangitane and he says they see kiwi at night around his place. I've never seen a kiwi in the wild - only in the Whangarei Kiwi House. Hopefully one day I will. Thanks for leading cachers down this road. I hope they enjoy the forest as much as I did Smile
