Logs
Checked on the cache while passing by today. Was a bit wet inside, but the waterproof log paper is doing its job. Otherwise all OK.
Holy Mackerel we found it. Thanks for bringing us here. Quick park and grab. TFGC
Thanks Vistra!
Enjoyed my "catch of the day " here!
I see this is part of Te Araroa Trail!
Lots of gorse....glad I didn't need to go near it!

1339. 10:33 am. First find of the day. I was headed to the other Mackerel forest geocache afterward but after walking the wet slippery old forest track I lost the trail and backtracked to leave it for another day. TFT(fishy)C.
Out and about with Lis’s Crew signing off a few neat wee hides while heading to Toot.
First stop up here along this unsealed route. An aptly named and camo'd cache was soon located and tipped out the water and added my name on the new log. Thanks vistra.
It's our turn to look after Kaiah today as her parents are heading off to the North with visits to Waitangi, Kerikeri and other places on their list of places to visit. They were out for most of the day, so caching opportunities were likely to be at a premium but amnaged to get out for some fuel and a few caches on the way back from town (via the ford road).
Heading north for Christmas, we're off to Ngunguru for 6 days along the Tutukaka coast and accompanied by our youngest daughter, middle daughter and family, and will meet up with one of our sons and his family too, so a busy time. Had a great time away and ate well, watered well and a bit of fishing and kayaking, awesome weather mostly too in Northland.

Up north for the weekend with the very lovely Vistra. Checking out the geocaches in the area. This one was very cool and fun. TFTC
Checked on the cache today and the attachment has broken. Replaced with a new stronger attachment and replaced the log sheet.
I was down the road collecting 'The end of the Ford' cache for a challenge that required a cache that hadn't been found for 1000 days. That one was my priority but having found it I had time to pick this one up on the way out. A neat hide, thanks
I knew there was something fishy about this one, definitely should have brought the fishing rod. Definitely the cache of the day.
#6437. I am staying in Auckland with the extended family. I need to find just two more caches to complete the NZ Jasmer challenge. Both of them are near Whangarei so a day trip was planned to drive north and pick up the target caches plus grab a few other old ones and any nearby caches while I still had enough time before driving back to Auckland in the evening. It was a stinking hot and fine summer's day in the north. With my two jasmer caches under the belt (Piroa Falls and Hugh Crawford) it was time to grab a few more local caches.
This cache: Carried on down this side road. Plenty of off-road parking nearby. Wasn't sure if the cache was on public land with the various signs here but through a gap in the trees I saw a sign that looked of interest. So wandered up and found an access path to the sign. Could see where the cache was placed but took a few moments before I realised the best way to access it. Soon had the rather unusual cache in hand. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Collected the code. Thanks vistra for hiding the cache here.

Our third visit to this beautiful country and this time for a family wedding in Tutukaka. After that we will travel south exploring and finding some caches along the way.
Signed and replaced all of them as we found them.
Thanks to the CO's for placing these caches and keeping the game alive.

Found with Riser5 while trying to get him 100 caches for the hidden creatures challenge.
So this is where the Mackerel Forest entrance is! I was wondering now I wonder no more...Finding the cache took a while due to a bouncy GPS. Nice container. Thanks for the great cache.
Paula didn't know what a mackerel was so she was surprised when she pulled out the cache. haha

Did the original a couple of years ago, so good to have a chance to do the new one . TFTC, snaw
Started at the far end of N Ford Rd tonight to try and pick up all the Holy caches. 3 muggle kids riding their bikes around at the car parking spot, so wasn't sure on doing this one.
However, pretended to get my hiking gear on and headed off up the track. Once they had ridden away a bit, I quickly detoured to check out the Mackerel Trail sign and cast my line out for a fish. Perfect size mackerel for live bait was soon hauled in. 5th coordinate noted. for real this time....!!!

Whangarei Day2.
We spent a delightful day in the outer region of Whangarei, driving through the rolling country side then onto the sea side where many surfers were enjoying the waves.
A great variety of locations & hides were found. Favourite point for this one.
Thanks for placing this cache vistra

Made the approach harder than it needed to be, but an easy exit once I spotted the obvious way. A cool cache!

Catching up with a few caches on our way out to the beach, having a picnic at the Nikau eco camp at the estuary so finishing off these caches along this road. nice camo here....Thanks for the cache
Parked near the start of the Mackerel Forest Track and walked to GZ. Had a look and said "Holy Mackerel, there's the cache." Thanks.
(1778) Out mountain biking in the area, so this was a great chance for me to grab this new cache. A little fishing around required before I had the cache in hand. Great container. TFTC
Have you ever made up a fishy story, for an excuse to go Geocaching???? no story needed today.... saw this one online & thought I'd grab it on my way past (& thought it was on my last PQ, but No!) Still managed to catch V2 after a little fishing around, since I remembered it must be near V1's old location.... and Holy Mackerel! Whaddya know?... I even managed to land a FTF . Nice hide TFTC!
