Logs
Hi nickhbnzThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no cache maintenance logged. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Following the advice of the title, I gave this a good search using my torch to help me. I think I understood the hint; in which case I found a couple of likely niches, but they were empty. I think it's about time that this one had a check...
After seeing off my partner for her half marathon, this was too convenient on a beautiful morning. TFTC
Great hide, and a nice walk from local accomodation while in the area for work. Can imagine it would be tricky during the peak of summer when there are more muggles about. Tftc
When I saw this cache was back up I had to find it! So on the way home from a walk I went to the cache and then found it as soon as walked to where the coordinates pointed me! Very good cache and simple. Nice view so a favourite point from me
I think I am in the right place but will need to come back. Today not my day for this spot
On a little road trip so had to check out some of the local sights....oh the caches of course!Whilst I was looking in completely the wrong spot (foliage of sorts), cragger made the find! Very nicely done here. Thanks for the cache.
My gps is way off so this took a while but genius grand-daughter found it! Great hide.
Apparently a kind fellow geocacher has replaced this for me. It is not the original hide, so will possibly not be worthy of the previous favourite points, but at least it is there, until I get it fixed properly one day.
Up from palmy for Easter. This was our first find for the weekend. When we arrived in Napier the weather was perfect. When we found the cache the weather was quite chilly and windy. We remember finding one similar to this awhile back but we just saw a blank hole and by the logs it must of been washed away in the cyclone. made sense why the cache was disabled but replacement cache was soon spotted and signed! Hopefully original cache will be replaced. I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found. TFTC. Thanks nickhbnz for placing this Traditional cache! nickhbnz , ! 31 March 2024 at 5:21PM#926th Find
We were docked in Napier New Zealand for the day on our ship - Holland America's Volendam. We took the Shuttle into the city to do two Adventure Labs and a few caches. We found 4 caches while walking to do the Lab Stops.Thank you to the Lab creators and to the cache COs for their efforts and for their Labs and caches.#####################This Cache: Quick Find of where the cache use to be. It would be a shame for this one to be Archived. So, we replaced it, just where the Hint suggested.
This Cache was destroyed by Cyclone Gabrielle. I realise it has been 6 months, but the Cache owner lost their business due to flooding in the cyclone, and has been busy trying to get life sorted. I do intent to repair and replace this cache as it was a good one, and I have some of the parts ready to go, however it is just taking longer than expected.
Couldn’t find it after two attempts, located the likely spot but it wasn’t there. Suspect it might have been muggled
Had planned on finding a few traditionals along the way as we did the Adventure Lab. It wasn't to be as they were either disabled or elusive. Searched high and low but then decided to move on. DNF
Today we are in the area and surrounding area of Napier. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

This cache was brilliantly done, we had been looking for 20mins, found where we thought it would be, but no luck, after looking like two crazys we sat down where we first thought, had a wee explore after two dirty hands BINGO
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my ?? The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find. With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signedWe puzzled a lot in advance and the tours ?? were well prepared So this box was also well found.now I have another on my personal cache card.many thanks to [^] **nickhbnz** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 TFTF**Geistercacher**#34061
Again introducing friends to the joys. This is my mates find.
Looked here three times before the penny dropped. Was very much a team effort!!

Having a great bike ride and enjoying the vibes. Two cruise liners in so it's all go. Great cache earns a fave from us. Cache is all good. TFTC
I've always thought about a geocache being hidden here but I have never actually seen one until now. I can finally rest.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved [:X] Middle-Earth.
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today was dedicated to collect some smileys in order to complete two challenges :
1. **'NZ 400 minutes longitude challenge'** (https://coord.info/GC7YQZ8)
2. **'"Don't Leave Home" NZ Counties Challenge'** (https://coord.info/GC9C4M0)
This geo-treasure contributed to the mission and to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
It was fun [:o)] to find this creatively hidden container! Kudos [^] !
A big thanks to the owner nickhbnz [:X] for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

After a search, we found this one. Heading back to the cruse ship before the rain. Thanks
A quick find late in the afternoon soon after arriving in Napier from Wellington.
The precise co-ordinates led us straight to the clever hide - Favourite Point awarded.
Signed the log and carefully replaced the cache as found.

On a lil getaway in the hawkes bay with my lil family and thought we would get afew caches while here. This one was a clever one had to double back to the original place i suspected.
From reading prior logs, we had a pretty good idea of what we were looking for, but it still took a while to find the cache. The coordinates are very good, and the hide is a clever one. Glad the rain showers today kept muggle passersby to a minimum! TFTC!
Our North Island Roadtrip from Whangarei to complete Tahi & Rua of the NZ Geotour - Day Ten.
Our first stop in Napier in the wind was this cache. Found the cache easily but a nice hide. TFGC

Funny. I had the right spot immediately, looked and thought: no, this can't be it.... Searched a while in the area, read the notes of previous geocachers and realised it was that first spot after all! TFTC!
After finding another of this CO’s hides in Ahuriri, and I thought we had better give this one a go. It is pretty windy on the beachfront today, so I’m glad we didn’t have to search too long. While I doubt this hide would be approved now, it is still a super cool and well constructed hide, which we found very quickly once we chose to trust the GPS over our eyes. TFTC. KTG
Out for a wander with KiwiKatieG along the beachfront while we are on holiday. We both went up to where we thought the hiding spot would be and started to search... nothing... we then relooked at the GPS and saw we were a wee bit off... at the same time we both went....aha.... we got where it would be. Such a cool idea for a hide. TFTC
I attempted to find this on the 29th, and came back on the 30th with a bit more knowledge and made the find properly. Fantastic camo and a fun spot. Tftc!
Very clever hide! The 12yo spotted it first but we didn’t believe her… then had another think. Tftc!!
Found while walking the lab caches. Took photo. Wasnt planning on finding a physical cache

A well constructed hide, although now illegal. Fav point for you!

In Napier, I make an attempt for a few geocaches and adventure labs, not very successful though.
Although the walk along the shore was a nice one, the beach is special with the pebbles.
This cache was tricky, but I get to log it.
The coordinates were spot on, I took a look first but decided it was not that, than after some reflection decided it HAD to be that, and indeed …. It was that.
Back at home I found some similar and even had one like this myself .
Greetings from chitza from Belgium

Thank you to the CO for verifying that we indeed found the cache. It was a beautiful evening stroll in Napier.

This is a really fantastic cache. One of the best I've ever found, easily. Thanks for the journey.
Great hide. Had us all very apprehensive., especially with the council there. Thanks
Came for an evening stroll and couldn't find it. Then re-read the logs and tried again in the morning. Going for the most unusual place in plane sight was eventually successful. I was excited about my success that I told my work colleagues about it at breakfast and they were keen to get a geocaching experience as well, so I took them to a nearby easy magnetic cache which they handled with ease. Then we took a stroll to this cache - it took them a bit longer and I had to give them a hint, but eventually they found it. I think, at least one of them will try the exciting game of geocaching. Thanks for the cache and for a clever hide!
Spotted the site the day before but too many people around so came back early this morning and had the area to myself. Even though still dark no need for torch. In and out with no problems. Clever cache in a busy area. Tftc
I thought we were plumb crazy but the GPS was spot on. Cool cache. Signed log and replaced where found.
Staying across the road for school holidays so thought we’d whip out for a quick grab with torches after dinner. After looking in the wrong place for awhile and my phone battery getting low I started to read the previous logs - got there in the end. Thanks for the cache!
Two nights in the area, just across the road, unsuccessful on my first evening while picking up the lab. Too tired on my second evening after quite a long day. Had to have another go before checking out, so did some reading, tried another approach to gps coordinates and went straight to it. Very clever hide, thanks for the effort that went into this one, and for making it 3 successful caching days in a row in HB.
Wandering in Wairarapa between Easter and Anzac day. Today I was caching in Napier with a great company of alunb.
This spot cannot be missed while caching in Napier! We started at wrong objects, obviously but GPS show us exact location. Brilliant!

Out caching with my good caching buddy Tramyard today, and after getting distracted by more obvious locations, we followed the GPS to the actual spot, literally hidden in plain sight, very cool, cheers
Wow this one was cool in Napier for work so thought I would try get a couple my uniform definitely helped me blend in a little bit THTC!
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
I used the hint and worked on it.
Also earnest a favorite from me
Cheers, Cympull.

Back for another visit to Napier. After a did not find last visit we decided to try again.
We soon had the cache in hand & were kicking ourselves that we didn't go with our gut first time round. To be fair there were less muggles this visit.

Well, well, well ! Thank goodness for an almost empty Napier waterfront as I rummaged around for 20 mins, frustrated not to find what must be a very special cache to have gained it's 168 fav. pts. GZ on my GPS one last time .... and a lightbulb moment. TFTC nickhbnz, another from me.
wow definitely need to be sneaky with this one.
A fake shoe lace tie and some kid destractors and the cache was signed and back in its spot.
Smiley face indeed.

I'm on a trip with my Mum and two youngest children. We're doing a quick tour of the North Island. We walked around the rim of the Waihi gold mine and stayed in Tauranga the first night. Stayed at Lottin Point then yesterday we headed to Gisborne. Today we're off to Napier then Turangi tomorrow before heading to our old stomping ground Palmerston North. We're then off to Whanganui, New Plymouth, then Taumaranui via the Forgotten Highway. A quick dash down to the Raurumu spiral before going up to Waitomo Caves. Back to Auckland for a few days with family, the long awaited 2020/2022 Mega then home to Whangarei.
I was hoping to get enough of the first TMGT caches to complete the Tauranga, Gisborne and Taranaki areas. In the end I failed on all counts. A great disappointment to get all the way out to the East Cape lighthouse to find the track closed yesterday too.
We stayed just across the road last night. I wandered along the waterfront last night collecting some of the AdLabs. This morning I did some caches before the others got up and then a few more while they visited the aquarium. I searched for a while before discovering this hide. Nicely hidden, thanks

Had to think about the clue for a bit. And once figured out had to wait for muggles to pass but found it in the end. Cheers
After getting some ice cream not too far away, I needed to walk a bit more, so I went for this cache. On approach to the gz the clue didn't make a lot of sense (I had something in mind, but was somewhat off). After looking around (and initially ignoring the correct spot) I had a though. I returned to an early hunch and sure enough.... nicely played with this one. Though if it weren't a drizzly evening I doubt I would have had the privacy to get this one. Kudos to anyone who grabs this when it's busy! Favourite point definitely!
An afternoon stroll from us in Napier today and we really enjoyed this cache along the seafront walkway.Took me a while to get the hint but once I’d made sense of it it didn’t take the other half much longer before he found it.Luckily it wasn’t anything else. Thanks for this one.It blends in very nicely.
Out and about this morning, making the best of being on holiday on a glorious day in the Hawkes Bay. With me was my old mate Yeetrees, formerly from Wellington, now living up here.
On such a day, we deemed that Ice Creams were definitely in order, and a long meander along the seafront. So this was more of a late morning stroll than an evening one, but it didn't take me long to locate the cache thanks to accurate co-ordinates.
No problems with cache or contents, so I was able to sign the log and then return it all as found. FP given for the innovative hide
