Travelling around NSW and Victoria on a 5 day trip with my son who is practicing driving a camper trailer on his P's. I decided to give him some rest breaks by stopping to do a few Earthcaches along the way. This Earthcache was pleasure to visit, and a good lesson learnt. Thanks for the Earthcache

This was a lovely spot that we have been to before, but it was great to visit it again. We believe we found the desired features without too much trouble and made our observations.Another great Team Thommo Earthcache.Answers sent.We had an enjoyable time at Narooma with a few days of lovely weather, but it was once again time to move on as we head slowly for home. It was only a short trip again as we traveled to Pambula Beach, but chose to take the more scenic route along the coast through Bermagui and Tathra. We have traveled his way before, but still enjoyed the scenery on a warm sunny day with little wind.Traveling this way also gave us the opportunity to stop along the way and check out the scenery as well as collecting some caches, a few we have had DNFs on previously.A leisurely traveling day through some lovely country.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache TeamThommo.**SKI Pair****

Find # 8,557 for me on 24 Mar 2024 at 3:47pm. This cache was found on our Canberra Mega adventure. After leaving Melbourne with PamJ in our little caravan, the plan is to stay a couple of nights at Bemm River, then a few more at Pambula before cruising into Canberra. This cache was found as part of this journey. Another great location around here, and some more interesting information, thanks. Photo covers this log and PamJ's log. Thanks TeamThommo, for giving back to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*

Found by The Empire + HSetting out on a sun-kissed day, our journey took us from the coastal charm of Merimbula to the laid-back allure of Tathra, weaving through the undulating landscapes of New South Wales. The summer sun cast a warm glow on the open road, promising a scenic drive along the Sapphire Coast. As we approached the town, the sight of Tathra Wharf emergeda historic structure that stood proudly against the backdrop of the ocean. The wharf, extending into the sea, invited us to stroll along its weathered planks and absorb panoramic views of the coastline.Arriving in Tathra, the laid-back atmosphere of this seaside town embraced us. The summer vibes were palpable, with surfers catching waves, families picnicking on the beach, and the inviting aroma of fish and chips wafting through the air. The coastal esplanade beckoned us to explore, revealing hidden coves and vantage points that offered uninterrupted views of the South Coast's natural beauty. Exploring the enchanting shores of Kianinny Bay in Tathra not only revealed the coastal beauty but also offered a glimpse into the geological tapestry that shapes this idyllic setting. The rocks that line the bay's shoreline narrate a story of ancient forces, geological processes, and the ever-changing dance between land and sea. Thanks for the earthcache TeamThommo.-MEarthcache #420

Annual fishing trip to Bermagui and with the weather being pretty ordinary, I decided to go for a drive to Tathra to do a bit of caching. I ran out of time to complete this EC last trip. I have visited this bay before. Such interesting geology along this coast line.Wind was blowing heavy here, but I was able to quickly get the info I needed and send off my answers. TFTEC!

We are heading to Canberra to catch up with friends for a couple of days caching and we decided to leave early and take the more scenic route and grab a few caches along the way.

We are mainly concentrating on Ad Labs, virtual's and earth caches as they don't give us muggle problems.

We were doiung the adventure lab in town but we weren't going to go passed an earth cache that was so close so we headed to gz where we were met by a couple of fishermen tying up their boat both looking at me very suspiciously as I was studying the rocks. Perhaps they thought that I might be going to steal their boat. As the CO knows we are still basic geologists but enjoy learning somethin new with each earth cache and this one was no exception.

We have sent our information off to the CO and fingers crossed we passed.
Many thanks Team Thommo for another interesting earth cache in a very scenic part of the world, a favourite point from us.

Day 12 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives before continuing south for a loop around the Snowy Mountains. From there we headed towards Eden for the run towards home along the coastline.

After spending the night in Tathra, I headed out early to pick up a couple of local caches before we recommenced the journey north. A busy spot here this morning with a number of boaties launching their boats for a day of fishing. My eyes were not on the water but the rocks around GZ. A nice spot to enjoy in the early morning light. TFTC

Finally catching up on my back-logging*

The third day of our trip to Merimbula to visit my families and hometowns from Brisbane.
Off we left from Forbes, Boorowa, Canberra and now finally Merimbula! After exploring Merimbula a little bit, my Aunty and two cousins brought me across to this beautiful town named Eden and now over here to Tathra.
I absolutely loved this place. It was absolutely magical! I honestly believe this is one of my favourites places I've visited in all of Australia <3
There were wild stingrays that were so inquisitive. The fisherman was feeding them their left over fish. My cousin and I walked up to the top of the lookout too. Remarkable!
Answers sent to CO and a favourite point from me! TFTC!

We are travelling back down south to tidy a few affairs at home before heading off around Australia for the next few years. We were nearly at our campsite, and we stopped off to do an Adventure Lab and a couple of other caches. This is a gorgeous spot to stop. The water was so clear, and plenty of people enjoyed swimming on a warm afternoon. We had a great time getting the information and letting the geodogs out for a run. Thank you, TeamThommo, for the time and effort you have put into creating and maintaining this Earthcache.

Continuing our Victorian trip with the family after some time at the Wang mega. Arriving back in NSW we made our way up the coast to Tathra. This place holds alot of teenage memories for me and it was great to be back.
Arriving at GZ it was good to be out of the howling winds, but the high tides and wave chop made this EC a little difficult.

Between rain showers on a gloomy day the water here was still looking amazing, just a little too cold for swimming. We collected our answers and enjoyed watching the local Birdlife.

Another great earthcache for us today - being relatively infrequent visitors to the South Coast it’s unlikely we would have found this beautiful spot had this cache not been there.

The eldest GeoTeen (pictured near GZ) quickly found the answers and educated us in the process before they were sent to the CO for checking.

Thanks, TeamThommo - awesome!

#5814.
We decided to head off to Tathra for the last day of our holiday. We enjoyed finding the couple of caches in the area after having an ice cream at Kianinny bay that we bought from a local store. It was a bit cool today, otherwise we would have jumped into the water.

Thanks for creating this very informative EC.

We'd opted to spend the afternoon down at Kianinny Bay after we had found out that the Mumbulla Falls were closed to the public. There are other places to have a picnic, and this area was a very good candidate.

After a delicious picnic lunch we ventured closer to the water to cool down and splash a bit in the clear water. What a magnificent bay. The Eagle rays and Stingrays were a highlight: so majestic and so placid. I'm just sad that I didn't bring along snorkeling equipment to get a better view.

While we were out on the jetty I had a closer look at the rock formations and tried to collect the necessary information for the EarthCache. I took a few photos to help remind me of what I had seen and so that I could check again at my leisure when back at home. Interesting geology lesson.

The answers that I worked out were sent to the CO, and permission to log this as a find was granted.

I'm an Aussie living in Japan. Today I"m back visiting and staying with family in the area, My Granny used to live in Kalaru and I always enjoyed bushwalking around the area. Today I went bushwalking in the area for the first time in about 30 years so it was very enjoyable to do it. This time with the extra joys of geocaching. I went for a 9 hour walk and this was my 11th cache of the day I was a bit tired after walking 20kms already today, so it was good to have a cache where I could sit down and think for a moment. I used to love catching crabs in this area when I was a kid. TFTC.

We stayed at the beautiful Tathra Beach Caravan Park for the night, and on our way out of town visited this amazing location. I am sure that I have not previously visited here despite several visits to Tathra. We would have loved to follow the walking trail from the playground area, but that will be for another visit. When we arrived the pelicans had just received a good feed from a local fisherman, but they were keen to avoid my camera when they realised I had no fish. The water was clear and inviting, although there were warnings regarding the safety of swimming. While visiting Tathra the fire damage around the town was evident, and there were a lot of barricades and roadworks even at the the main lookout near the hotel. This was like a little oasis, thank you for highlighting the area with your Earthcache. We are giving a favourite for the lovely location and the added geology lesson.

Day 4 of our “mum and kids adventure” holiday saw us grab a few caches and visit some beaches. We enjoyed this spot and there were not only cool rocks but a nice fisherman who gave the kids and quick boat ride. We also got to look at all the flathead he’d caught. Answers have been sent and adding a selfie here. Many thanks for the cache.

The long weekend had arrived and off I go as part of the Canberra geocachers invasion for the SST series and any others along the way! A great weekend of camping, caching and socialising with a great bunch of people! Cool

After working out where I needed to be for this one I wandered over to check things out but, unfortunately, GZ was occupied by people fishing and heaps of kids splashing about! Certainly not conducive to examining rocks and taking photos! Never mind, I examined similar rocks just nearby and have submitted my answers to the CO.

Thanks for the Earthcache, TeamThommo Cool

Yay, long weekend in Canberra means a trip to the coast. We love Tathra and stumbled across Chamberlain lookout. We had to investigate and were thrilled to see several rays and a Port Jackson shark. Didn’t work out there was an Earthcache until this morning and with 6 mins to low tides headed back. Pelicans watched me examining the many colours, grains and crystals. Hubby and I went out on some walks in Merimbula and I saw the now familiar geological sights. Thanks for the education. Logged with permission and FP given.

While the boat was started and putted over to the jetty,

The back wheels of the small car disappeared completely Big Grin

Still snickering,
I headed over to the rocks of interest to find some answers to questions Smile
Lovely looking rocks [:X]
I put me ear closer so I could listen to their secrets [:o)]

Heading north-east with PacGirl on a Easter roadtrip, we had no real target other than walking up Mt Kosciusko on the way to wherever we were going. I love these unplanned roadtrips where there isn't much of an agenda!
By this stage we had hiked around the top of Mt Kosciusko, made an impromptu visit to the Queanbeyan Mega, and were making our way back home south along the NSW coastline and then west along the Victorian coast.

We spend a pleasant lunchtime wandering around the bay. I had to dodge a few muggles at GZ as they were enjoying the sunny day as much as I was. Fortunately the tide was out but unfortunately my observation skills were out too! Some interesting colours in these rocks.
Answers emailed and confirmed by the CO.
Thanks for the earthcache, TeamThommo.

We undertook this very interesting Earthcache today, where from Ground Zero we also enjoyed watching a good number of Smooth Stingrays patrolling the harbour! We have yet to send our answers to the CO and so until we do we are logging this Write Note only to keep our cache finds in order. In the meantime thanks so much for the Earthcache and greetings from Zimbabwe

We made a detour down to this very picturesque little bay. It was fairly crowded with swimmers, dogs and boats so we did our best to find the location and not look too conspicuous! Thanks Team Thommo for an educational visit to a lovely location - we might have to come back with our swimmers and towels when it is not so busy, if that ever happens!

14-Jan-19
On the way home from Merimbula we pulled in to Tathra to have brunch at the wharf and to give the town financial support in the aftermath of the fires. We love Kianinny Bay, it's views, it's water, and an old multi cache here that used to be one of our all time favourite caches - alas, no longer here! There were many muggles with towels all over the rocks, however I managed to observe what I could. TFTC TeamThommo!

**This was 1 of 4 caches that was found by me on the 11th of 16 caching days here in Australia. Which also was the 48th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**

Once upon a time I did visit an earthcache twice. And that was this one.
We where namely here in the morning. But then it was an high tide which meant that the entire pier was under water. Taking off shoes and socks and wade out would have been an option. But as the rocks was submerge it would probably have been impossible to gather the answers. So we looked for stag 1 of the multi and then drove off.

Some hours later, which would have been at least 6 hours to let the low tide to occur, we did return. And now the pier was 1,5 meters above the oceans surface. This phenomenal is very fascination for me since there are no tidal changes at all where I live.

As Ingabo writes there where a few fishers in the pier. So we tolled them a little about our interest in the rocks. And they tolled us a little about fishing squids.

*Together with Ingabo, jsson and Sivun I would spend 16 days in Australia. Our journey started in Melbourne and ended in Sydney. After that I continued to New Zealand while the others headed back towards Melbourne.*
*All in all I did manage to find 263 caches, 9 types, 3 new months and many more statistical fillers.*

We, (jsson, peter-tvm, Sivun and myself) went for this cache while the tide was out in the afternoon. A bunch of fishermen at site wondering why we were examining the rocks so closely only. Water level had changed around 1,5m since this morning.
Peter-tvm will send the answers for all of us to CO.
Thanks for placing a cache for me to enjoy and find.

As we continued north today we visited Kianinny Bay. This is a very picturesque sheltered bay f course, the pelicans were lining up for morning tea as fish were cleaned. We enjoyed looking at the geology of the area. Answers to the questions have been forwarded to the CO and a ;photo has been included with this log. Thanks TeamThommo for another very enjoyable earthcache.

Arrived at this cache in the mid afternoon in time to see the local fishermen returning with their catches. As they cut the fish the hungry pelicans waited for their free feed. Overnight trip around the SST with Seemyshell and Brewmaker. I was really impressed with the wide range of unique styles and sizes. Another huge selling point on these were the interesting names for the caches (instead of numbered), which makes it easier to remember each location and find. Thanks to all the Cache Owners of the Sapphire Coast (namely dghoffy and elysium_au) for injecting the greater area with good quality caches. Thanks For The Cache!

The last day out of my long weekend caching adventure. A big thank you to Boeing737 and JetFusalage for the invite and hospitality for what was a brilliant weekend and my caching buddy StangTrousers for all the driving and great company.

The days fun started in Kalaru, Tathra, Nimmitable and Bredbo. The day started out sunny, warm and full of promise of warm summer days ahead for those wanting to put a toe in the ocean or one of the beautiful swimming spots we saw on the weekend away. We were so lucky to have the change come though in the afternoon on the last day. So many different cache types I had not seen before and beautiful views look out on. Looks like I will be back some time soon to collect a few more caches.

This was one of the highlights of the weekend visiting this bay and doing the earth cache.

#3417 16 of 17 today.

Day 3 of our trip out to the coast. CBRChic, myself joined Boeing737 and JetFusalage for some caching around the Bega/Merimbula area. Today it was just CC & me collecting a bunch of caches around Kalaru and Tathra. Much cooler but still very pleasant conditions today with some stunning view. We did not manage to spot any whales. After lunch we headed back to Canberra with a quick stop at Nimmitable and Bredbo. It was interesting to watch the temperature plummet as we climbed Brown mountain. It was mid-20's at the bottom, but only about 11C at Nimmitable with a cold breeze blowing.

Thanks to my caching colleague and great company for this trip: CBRChic and also Boeing737 & Jetfusalge for being such excellent hosts.

We loved this little bay. Answers submitted to CO.

On another family holiday, this time further south. While the family hung out at the local caravan park I went off to find a few caches. What a great hidden little bay. I can just see the smugglers sailing there way in under a moonless night to bring in all their contraband, what adventures to be had here. Is it possible I've read one to many Enid Blyton books?
An interesting rock lesson, now I know about all this salmon coloured rock.
A bigs thanks for bringing me out.

F(H)ound It! #1656 - @4:22:00 PM

Needed some time out from the festivities at our block so the Ridgeo-pup and I went out to do a bit of caching.

What a lovely little bay. There were a lot of folks about enjoying the sunshine during the holidays. Because of these I had to abandon searching for a nearby multi but I did not raise any suspicions while doing this earth cache. I am never totally convinced I am studying the right thing when I am doing earth caches on my own. It would be great if I could have a geologist with me. Hopefully the more I do, and the more I learn, they will slowly make more sense to me Red Face. However I thank you for the lesson and for bringing me to another beautiful spot Cool, TeamThommo.

Our apologies for the delay in posting our log. Things have got a little out of hand recently & the backlog has become rather more of a "log jam".

Our thanks to TeamThommo for placing this cache for us to find (or occasionally not) on 08/11/2016. Further details (for earthcaches & the like) will be supplied to the CO once the jam has cleared.

Down near Tathra for a wedding this weekend as well as lots of geocaching. We couldn't miss the opportunity to visit this amazing location and find this earthcache as well as the popular nearby multi-cache.

What a stunning and busy location. It was a Saturday morning and the place was full of people fishing. The table was literally lined up with people gutting their recent caughts. I dont think I have ever witnessed people gutting fish on a table like this before! It was really quite a unique experience.

Thanks for bringing us here, and teaching us about the Rhyolite. Can I just say that the water is crystal clear, it looks amazing to swim in.

Favourite point for sure! Thanks!

Enjoyed the coastal walk from the wharf to get here. Plenty of pelican friends and we even saw a large stingray which was cool. Tftc, do enjoy earth caches, makes you look a bit harder at the landscape.

Wonderful to have an excuse to spend some time in one of the best locations in the shire, not that we really need any excuse. Have to say though its the first time weve paid close attention to the geology, normally its more the marine biology that has our attention. Answers have been emailed and have attached a photo of some feathered muggles intent on watching us. Tftc

Found at 5:08:00 PM

Popped down near sunset and had to wait out some muggles taking pictures right at GZ. Then moved in to make my observations. There was some people hauling up some huge man-sized tuna when I left.

Thanks TeamThommo
