Found at 1:01 PM GAFF1.We could see the cairn in the paddock and the plaque was back!Interesting that in 21 years only 40 students attended this school - must have been a small class each year! Thanks to Melodydove
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 48 - Katanning to Bunbury via Kojonup, Boyup Brook, Donnybrook and Bonyanup. Yet another day that was too long and I should have split in two, but due to bookings could not. It only rained while I was trying to cache in Donnybrook. There were a few roadside caches there were a few short walks and way too many machinery caches, but I did find some of them. The day got away from me and I did not do everything on my over ambitions list. I made it to Bunbury and got set up just before dark. I did not get out for the evening, so had a nice night cooking dinner and planning my next few days while I am in Bunbury for a week.It was interesting to see the stone out in the paddock, but better than being nicked. Cache found ok.Thanks for the cache Melodydove47676.5 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2024 Lackey jtcoffee A#542**Albida**
Another interesting detour along the way to Pemberton from Bremer for us today. We have found out a bit about how life was in the last century that's for sure and it all made the trip full of conversations in the car which helped pass the time. tftc
Picking up a few caches on the way home to Esperance. It's interesting how many old schools sites there are around the area. Tftc.
Today the geocaching mission for TaurusSix and I was to try and obtain the FTF that we noticed came out in Katanning yesterday. We kept an eye on the post last evening and when we still noted it had not been found first thing this morning we decided to undertake the just over two hour drive to get to gz. The drive itself was very pleasant just after sunrise. Not that there was much of a sunrise because it is quite an overcast and showery day. Pleasantly cool too which is nice for geocaching. Once in Katanning and achieving the first to find we set about to find many of the other caches in the Katanning area.
This is our twentieth cache for the day. We missed the turning initially so had to do a swift turn back towards gz. Once at gz it was very still and quiet just a few distant birds breaking the silence. Great place for a cache, which was quickly located, logged and replaced. TFTC

Lovely day for geocaching- enjoyed the scene and thanks for the cache and hide
Quick find with bigSalmon1 on way to Boyup Brook. Thanks for the history of school and trees TFTC
Just love all the old school sites and their history thanks for sharing it with us TFTC
Thank you for the history of this place, it makes it so much more interesting! Can just imagine the children climbing those trees!
Thanks for taking us here found under a beautiful big old Jarrah tree. Nice chance to break up the drive home.
I took the chance to visit my husband who was working in Wagin. This meant a new area I hadn’t had the chance to explore before. Day one after a late start due to car troubles I clocked up only 6 caches on my way to Wagin and around the town of Wagin. With that area cleared apart from the famous ‘WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia’ cache this one may require a bit more work and a few more holidays to get the feeder caches.
I was able to start early traveling southwest toward Beaufort river from Wagin finding finding Norring Lake then had to back track and head East to find tracks that were suitable for a Toyota Avalon before making my way to Queerarrup Lake and Kenmare hall. Places I will keep in mind if I need a nice camp site. Queerarrup Lake has brand new facilitys including toilets and electric barbies. The Lake today was peaceful and covered in dozens of black swans. Onwards to Beaufort River along Robinson road. I found the two caches here in good condition. The servo is now closed so I couldn’t get fuel. It wasn’t critical as I still had quarter of a tank but I had to rule out going to Lake Towernining today. I was half way between Kojonup and Arthur River since I was there yesterday Kojonup it was. After lunch and a few caches there I headed West towards home 19 found caches for the day and 7 LGAs.

Touring the Great Southern using Geocachiing as our guide.
We headed out today from Kojonup and did a massive loop of some 420km. We saw some great historic locations, old schools, old halls, so much information shared with us today through Geocaching. We often say WA doesnt have the history of other States but boy you did us proud today.

Found the 2 Kurrajong trees and a pile of rocks, not much evidence of the old school there now.
Thanks Melodydove

Apologies, DID NOT take TB from this cache, as it wants to return to the Netherlands!!
No problems finding this one this morning on my way down to Albany. Cache was in good order. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Melodydove (and relatives)
TFTH headed down to Albany for a quick weekend trip. Needed to do some maintenance on some down that way and made the most of it by finding a few along the way.
On the trip home the main aim of the game was to find the My Home series of caches. All these were found in good condition and made for some fun caching through the. Country side. A. Good range of camo containers and sizes.
Ended up with 20 finds and 9 caches checked on. Just short of 1000km on the Geocar with the weather perfect on both days.
Thanks for bringing me back down this way and as usual I'm sure it won't be long until I return again.

With a rare additional weekend off secured, plans were hatched to go out and find s bunch of caches to keep the numbers ticking over. We thought why not kill two birds with one stone, do some running repairs on our Albany caches, and finally, and I mean finally grab the My Home series, which has been on the radar for far too long.
This is my kind of geocaching, nice country driving, some different styles of container and good times with good mates, what more can you want. We're finally getting close to having the whole route from Perth to Albany along Albany highway cleaned up. It's taken five years so far, and we've nearly cached out every town along the route, and the alternative route via Cranbrook including just about every town between. Hopefully we can pickup a few more on our next run down. Thanks

Decided to get muggle to take me on a overnight georoad trip from Bunbury to Wagin via Boyup Brook, Kojonup and Woodanilling and a few little caching destinations along the way
An easy find then off to take photos of some of the wildflowers that are still showing their true colours

Gotcha, a nice walk down the road, would imagine a few farming families would have attended school here in days gone by.

Gotcha, a quick find after a stroll down the road.

Had to wait for a farmer to finish moving his sheep across the road from one paddock to another before I could approach gz. Quick find ensued. Thanks Melodydove
Saw this cache pop up in my email the other day and as I was heading home today hoped no one was going past so I could claim FTF. Pulled up for the quick find and the FTF TFTC
