I've had a funny caching day today. At this stop I found a cache, but it doesn't seem to be the right one! I suspect the right one might be the victim of soil and garden waste disposal if it has migrated from where I think it was. Instead I found a Beltfamily cache in a Sistema with a code on the lid and the last log being 2011! See pic. I'm curious to know the story behind that one if anyone knows.

I had a good lock on GZ, but this doesn't always mean it is pointing to the cache. I'll watch this one to see.

I was in Nelson today on an exploratory tour, a beautiful town.
I was again lured to great viewpoints and I was told the history of this town.

I walked almost 20 km through Nelson and could find many hidden cans.

This one was also there and I registered in the LB.
Thanks to all owners for this wonderful day.
Many greetings from Cologne.

Down from Northland, visiting the South Island on a 7 day caching and sight seeing trip. The main object was to find the last four CANZ caches, finish off my D/T grid, fill as many spaces as possible in my Jasmer grid and then concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, completed challenges and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close to any of our stopping points.

The trip started off on a good note, with our rental cache mobile being little more than a week old and only 109 kms on the clock. It certainly had a few more by the time we returned it..!

Day three today and heading northward from Kaikoura and on toward Nelson. After making it around the fire cordons and checking into our B & B accommodation, headed off to look for our primary trip target, the CANZ cache nearby. Once sorted, headed along to this one and made a quick find. Feb 29th is the only day in my calendar grid that I don't have a find on yet, mainly because there hasn't been a leap day since I started caching. TFTC

A quick and easy find today. Last time there were too many neighbours nearby. A nice info board about the Songer tree. Thanks

Having a wee break up in Nelson. Today we drove not too far away from the middle of town, had some good walks and had lovely fine weather. Those we found together were signed Ms+Mr KR.

Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

I had an opportunity to go to the South Island and take a week off work and do some caching while Mrs Yeetrees had to go to the ANZEG Conference 2018 which was being held in Nelson.

Day 4. Nelson. This was the second day of 4 that Mrs Yeetrees had to attend classes and lectures at the ANZEG Conference 2018, while she was doing this it was my aim to go around the CBD and nearby and see if I could pick up a few of the harder caches around the area. This included a few different types of caches rather than just hitting traditional drive by caches.

After finding GC37877 - Sitting In The Morning Sun (Nelson), this was the next cache that I had on my list that I wanted to find today.

Arriving near GZ, I managed to find a carpark not too far from GZ and since I had my invisibility cloak on no one paid any attention as to what I was doing. Arriving at GZ, I managed after a short search spot something that needed closer look and soon realised that it was the cache..

Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back as found. Thanks SoBad for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13608). Another great spot for a cache.

A pleasant walk after a Saturday morning at work. Couple of steep hills, but the view is worth it

12-Aug-17
Nearing the end of the day, we decided to pop up the hill for a few caches on the way to the CANZ one. This was first on the list. We waited for a couple of people to check out the tree while my GPS pointed me elsewhere, and when they left the search began. Took a stretch from the angle I was at, but quick find and all good. TFTC SoBad.
Day one of a weekend in Nelson for a spot of caching and other stuff. Got into town early, checked out the Saturday market (a little less vibrant than other times I have been there - guess it is still winter though), a little retail therapy at my favourite bookshop, then into some caches. Just 15 for the day, a few DNFs, multis half solved but not completed for various reasons, so not that successful on that front. But we visited a number of fine dining establishments throughout the day so pretty happy with things overall . Thanks to all the COs for their caches.

Our car could just about find its own way to town with how many trips we have had in this way lately. A nice quick find was made here which took care of another day in our streak. Thanks SoBad for the cache

#3425. I had a work trip to Nelson arranged at very short notice so decided I would come half a day early to give myself a chance to pick up a few geocaches around Nelson. The weather today is a very hot summers day so making it fun. Having to open and shut the car window as I stop and start around the city. The urban caches proved rather tricky to find so didn't get as many done as I planned but still got 22 which is OK. Had a read of the display board then headed off to find the cache. Soon located. Signed log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here.

TFTC. Out and about in Nelson city and thought it would be nice to have a wee leg stretch.
I went across the road and back three times before settling on the correct side.
Views spectacular from up here today.
Thanks for placing the cache.

We came here last time we were up here but I was not able to make the find as my batteries went flat. This time I was able to find the cache with ease. I covered the top with some leaf litter as it was a bit obivous from the road. Find #174

31-Aug-16
I brought an item off Trade me, so after weaving my way along Queens rd, I thought, I wonder if there's a cache up here, I'm early for my weekly course over here, so I had time to stop and look. I pulled over into a park, and what do you know, a cache less than 30 m away. It is even a very interesting and informative one, with a good view. Tftc!

27-Aug-16
With a souvenir up for grabs for finding a puzzle cache, a day on duty on Sunday preventing any potential road trips on that day and there being no local puzzles to solve, or find, on my side of the hill there was likely to be only one outcome; yet another trip over the Whangamoas for a Nelson caching raid. All this was tied up with a weather prediction of better weather in Nelson than Blenheim (for once) so a trip was planned. mrs capperz and nightowl desired some retail therapy with a double tap of Nelson C B D, followed by the now obligatory Richmond Mall visit. All that means is I get to drop them off at each location and cache around the vicinity. Nice.
Probably our last trip over this way for a couple of months with our impending trip overseas now just over 2 weeks away. Excited!
Have been here before, a few times actually for fruitless searches over the road. Much more luck here today as I arrived from another cache of yours, a few more for the total today

Another park n' grab with my fellow cachers tonight. Rebel98, rustynz and supernanny and I are having a heap of fun while caching in Nelson.

20-Aug-16
Our adventure started with a local event arranged by Rustynz and a group of us are collecting as many caches in the nelson area as possible starting with this one and ending who knows where and by whom
our group is the Gorbynator, Suppernanny and the Rustynz.

20-Aug-16
Thank you for sharing the history of the area, we have previously visited the Lyttleton time ball, and the Maritime Museum in Auckland which had information about how it was essential that the correct time was used in calculations for navigation (pre-GPS technology).

With rebel98, supernanny and gorby; log was signed by our individual names (rather than a team!) its not everyday you get to find caches in the South Island. Thanks for the hide Big Grin

I am in Nelson for the day so over lunch took the work van for a joy ride. Parked, then wandered over to read the history. I love history caches, which this sort of is... and sort of isn't. Nice easy find though. Alas I left my geokit at home, so a cache large enough for emeralds, and no emerarlds to put in it Sad

Leap Day + 1 month today, so only 47 to go until the next Leap Day! I wonder how many of the caches out today will still be active in 2020, how many current cacher will still be active themselves in 2020 and indeed what the world of geocaching will be like in 2020.

All far too philosophical for my liking, so I'll just be pleased to grab this find to fill my 6th to last gap in my calendar.

Thanks

I had to come in this morning to Tahuna to do a job. And after that I had an appointment in town.
As luck would it today was a twosie day too so I found time to gather some of the new caches here and there.
A quick find at a familiar GZ and an opportunity to have a rubber neck at the unfolding subdivision below.

I somehow didn't manage to get anywhere near this cache on Leap Day but the luck of the Irish was with me and begorrah I found this wee treasure amongst the leprechauns on this enchanted day.
Here's a St Paddy's day blessing to celebrate:
May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.
