Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we were parked up in Tuatapere & were visiting a couple of nearby locations that meant something to us in our younger days, like 45 years, or so, ago … the Orepuki area is the location of the old ‘family’ house … this was an easy find, log completed & successfully returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,010 for us.

When we pulled up to this place I said "I have been here before with Tuolei" and sure enough after finding the cache noticed we had signed it back in 2019 but obviously forgot to log it. Signed again and logging it this time, TFTC.

We are slowly heading back home after finishing the hump ridge track , picking up few caches on the way. It was an incredible three days of pure magic. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
A very straight away find here with help of hint. TFTC

Sunday afternoon drive with grandchildren of which one of them found it. Weather turned nasty but still had to visit Gemstone beach
A quick find and then we got muggled by the local dog! He was keen for pats and is very well behaved - he sits on command!! TFTC
Impressive gates for such a small town. Also found it interesting to see how the old school has been converted into a home. Thanks for bringing us here. Found with Spoonz2
Spectacular gates, and a bit of history. Loved the dog on the lawn behind, endlessly chasing a ball on what must have once been the school grounds and is now a private dwelling. Thanks for this one. Found with Debsnz.
Thanks for bringing us to these gates, a few muggles around this afternoon, but parking to block their view did the trick and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks.
I've visited a few memorial gates on my geocaching quests - they are all special in their own way. Nice quick park and grab here thanks rentdi29. No the first visitor here today. TFTC # 16,778
I have a weeks work in Invercargill. But what to do in the evenings? Today it was a drive west grabbing caches. Got as far as Clifden then turned back. A quick grab here. Thanks for the cache.
Passing today on a big loop scoring geotour caches and selected others of interest. I found myself very close to here, so paused for a quick find. Signed log, TFTC.
#9055. Today I am driving past on the way to Te Anau picking up PWGT caches and then need to be back at Invercargill airport by 5pm. The weather has cleared now so its some stunning views along these roads. Quick stop here. Had a look at the memorial wall then checked for the the cache. It was soon located in a logical spot. Signed the logbook and rehid the cache where found. Thanks rentdi29 for hiding it here.
Out on my first big Geo Cache day with AnnieLin, DownSouthInv, AbbyKitt showing me the ropes. Enjoying the experience.
A quick park and grab

23 January 2021 15:23. Number 9112. As we were passing, It would have been remiss not to stop and pay our respects by signing the cache. All in good condition, TFTC
I like the patterns of the bricks. Having a short trip from Invercargill to Christchurch with Infoferret finding lots of caches, in particular the TMGT caches for me.
The cache may be signed with our individual names or ‘IE’.
Many TFTC.

Boxing Day cache with vz1pp. Thanks for the hide. We could see it as soon as we pulled into the car park so I re-hid a bit better.

A quiet little street with a wee kid riding his mini-quad bike. Very cute. A quick find and then off we went. TFTC.
What great gates must of been a massive building behind in its day. Found with VDH56.
Tftc nice park an grab was hard to write on paper see other people had trouble too
Was greeted by a spider buddy on the bottom of the cache haha but very much off the beaten path. TFTC
On a geocaching trip with Bennett24 - it's now day three and we are travelling between Tuatapere and Tokanui via a few places of interest. This is our chance to get interesting southern caches and for both of us it was a chance to have a look around the Deep South. I am quite interested in these historical spots so asked for a detour to take a look - this is especially interesting as it was placed at the gate of the now closed school.
Quick find here and managed it just before the showers came in. Easy find. Had enough time to take a bit of time to reflect on the memorial. There was about 50 names on the memorial on more which is shocking really for what even then must have been a very small community.
Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Travelling around the South Island and finding many interesting caches along the way. Thanks to all the COs for placing the caches we visited. Cheers from OZ!
Traveling from Te Anau to Invercargill today and letting caches guide our way. Thank you to all the COs who have placed caches to enhance our enjoyment of geocaching. Greetings from Australia.
It started pouring down ten minutes ago. Jude_E grabbed the cache and signed it in the car. Jude-E and I are on a geocaching trip to the deep south. Instead of driving down from Christchurch we decided to get a cheap flight down. Thanks rentdi29 for placing this geocache 7983 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Out with Wombat1234 exploring the western districts. Replaced saturated logbook and container.
Found cache, the lid was off container and log drenched, replaced container and added new log sheet tftc
Ten days off in a row for the price of two leave days, how fabulous! Packed up the whanau for an adventure and headed south. Our original plans were slightly thwarted by water, but we made the trip into an adventure tikitour with a few caches along the way. Signing the logs as Team Polak or TP for brevity. Great fun, thanks to all the CO’s for the entertainment!!
A quick and easy find. Cheers
Easter holidays, and a road trip to Milford Sound. Today we drove from Invercargill to Te Anau with a magic sunny and calm autumns day
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

On holiday in motorhome with our cat Coco and stopped here on route. Love how our new hobbie takes us to interesting and different places you wouldn't know about. Thanks for the cache rentdi29.
Almost forgot to stop on westward cache top off before I realised there was a new cache here. My grandies had deep links with this wee settlement. The house was further up the road.
Footprints in the new garden not quite ready for planting ahead of Anzac day .
Found the cache and found a space to sign my initials on the log after picking this one up. Covered hide with object. Thanks for the new cache.

Quick find. It is nice they kept the memorial after the land behind it was sold off. I assume it use to be in front of the school. The town must have been quite large during the First World War as there are lots of names listed.
We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
After a pretty sleepless night with the foul weather we decided to head back towards Invercargill.
The cache was a quick find, signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

[#4465] After a windy night at Orepuki we continued our trip through New Zealand. We first visited Gemstone Beach and Monkey Island. Because of the hard wind and almost high tide the sea and foam flurries came very close. Our next stop was in Riverton to have some coffee and fuel up and shortly visit the geology museum. Next we headed for Bluff and after a steep climb arrived on top of Bluff Hill where we almost got blown away but had amazing views here. At Land's End we were out of the wind and spent some time looking around. Before staying overnight at Fortrose we went to see the Waipapa lighthouse where we again had to fight against the heavy wind. We did not see any sea lions there. Thanks to all cache owners for making our visit even more fun and interesting.

Found it this time. Two years ago it wasn’t here. Happy to get the smiley this time. Tftc
Strange memorial but very moving to think of the number of people who gave their lives all the way from New Zealand during the wars. Tftc
