3rd DNF on the trot, sense of humour failures imminent. Found a good protected area on our GZ which looked plausible but couldn't uncover anything.
After previous people had a DNF, we were determined to find it. Great spot, not subject to sand cover as we feared.
We awoke to another beautiful day in Geraldton, fantastic after the two windy, wet days when we first arrived. so what better thing to do than to head out geocaching again.
Yesterday we worked in the central art of town and down round the port so today we decided to head out a bit to the south, along the top of the rise first then returning along the coast.
It was a mixed day with a number of well crafted caches, a number in need of maintenance and some great hides. With the outstanding views it was a great day.
With all the shifting sand along this part of the coast caches in this area have been a challenge, but not this one. Well protected and good coordinates put us on to a likely possibility to make the find.

A 6 hour bike ride on this beautiful day had us tackle a wide range of caches around Geraldton. Rode the path to this one and then along the beach and up to GZ.
This was found exactly where Mr Beetle said it would be, even after I had dismissed the area as being too far from my coordinates to start the search.
Thanks.

In the area again and time to do a few caches too. An easy find today! tftc Miss-Placed.
Sand had blown over the container so I was lucky to uncover it. Thanks for the hide.
Out on IGD in Geraldton for the 3rd year in a row with Barnzy12.
We started the morning a little late compared to a usual geocaching weekend however we did only get into town at midnight so a 8.30 start was early enough!!
The morning started with a extremely poor Find rate at around 40% found. We then headed to the Event and enjoyed a pub lunch and a pint of beer and that would see the luck turn there after.
After the event we headed off with Team Ruphace Matthew and Cathy finding around 20 caches with them.
The highlight was following the lead of reticbob and getting the caches in Moresby Range, going through private land that offered sensational views.
Overall a great day out in Gero, looking forward to seeing some of you again soon at WA Goes Big in Rockingham on the 9th September

Found on our first full day of our caching trip to Geraldton for the annual International Geocaching Day Event.
We arrived late Friday night, getting in just before midnight due to one of us finishing work about an hour later than planned! Stopping for a couple of simple Park and grabs along the way to keep our caching streak alive and enjoyed a quick feed for a late dinner in Jurien Bay.
We started the day with a bit of a later start after a small caching foray to find the new letterbox hybrid cache in town so we got up around 830 to start the caching day.
We curled up locally and headed around the suburb of Tarcoola, and had a large number of DNFs there, sitting around 40% find rate through the area, which was quite frustrating. We cached around the area attempting every cache on the Tarcoola Map before heading out to Bluff Point for the IGD event at the wintersun hotel, which we knew quite well having stayed there on our last trip whilst heading to the northwest.
We had a great pub lunch and enjoyed a cold beer whilst chatting to local cachers squash2 and reticbob regaling stories of some of the infamous caches around town that they either own of have had the pleasure of finding. Reticbob told us of his and others caches on the Moresby Range, which had only just been re enabled after the property changed hands.
We had to make tracks after the event to get the find rate up so teamed up with Team Ruphace who are from Melbourne but are staying in dongara and cached out bluff point with a significant amount of success before thinking we weren't that far from the Moresby Range so made the call to the land manager (this is a must - please respect this great spot so others can continue to enjoy it) and got the all OK to head to the northern side of the property, with the south off limits.
This would be my favourite part of our caching day, the Moresby Range is simply amazing, a MUST do if you come to Geraldton. Views forever. I won't say too much, you can get here and see it for yourself. Just please ring ahead (read the cache listings)
After the Moresby Range caches we headed back towards the centre of Geraldton where we kept finding cache after cache except for a few which need some serious CO attention. We managed to tick off a few nemesis caches including bluff point lighthouse, out and about erosion, tanked at the RSL and a few others, which was most satisfying.
We bid farewell to our companions after finding twenty odd caches together, which was most enjoyable and made finding it a bit easier with four sets of eyes at most caches.
We had a nice noodle dinner and got prepared to find a few more caches by torchlight around central Geraldton. The highlight of the evenings caching was another trip to the HMAS sydney memorial which is my favourite spot to visit in Geraldton. We followed the map around collecting the answers some of which I knew off the top of my head given my love of history and "the Sydney" we collected the puzzle cache for Cravo10 who somehow hadn't found it.
Overall a big day attempting around 60 caches with 40 finds, in around 12hours. Looking forward to finding some caches along the Chapman river tomorow on our final day of our short Geraldton getaway. Thanks to the local COs for their caches.

TFTH Miss-Placed. Out and about with geo family riding our bicycles along the pathway and unexpectedly picking up a few caches along the way. Such a lovely day.

Out doing a maintenance run on a few caches today. Was surprised to find that both the gazebo and the bench that the cache was hiding with, were both gone from this location. Must admit to breaking into laughter when looking down and finding the cache still sitting in it's original location in plain sight! Not to tempt muggles, I have slightly altered the coordinates and rehidden the cache! Happy hunting

Stopped at this cache whilst on a roadtrip with Eliktrisiti. We didn't find as many caches in the Geraldton area as we had hoped for, and after being home for a week or so, I have decided that the motto I would adopt for these logs would be this: It isn't the destination that is important, it is the journey!
In a nutshell, we had fun and that is what it is all about. Great company, lots of interesting locations, good variety of caches, even got to meet one of the local geocachers while out and about, and of course, we came home with a whole swag of smileys.
Having a very bad run along this beautiful stretch of coastline. All we found here was a druggy stash (which has been disposed of), but no cache, and no smileys. Another time maybe...

We are heading out of Geraldton today but couldn't resist grabbing a few more caches before we hit the highway south. Bit overgrown and uncared for at gz but made a quick find with iluvtrekking non-the-less. Thanks Miss-Placed
The last day in Geraldon and just time for a last few cache find. Thanks Miss-Placed.
We were traveling down the WA coast, having left Adelaide and up to Darwin, when we stopped a few days in Geraldton.
Today as Di rested I found and signed a few caches along the beautiful coast.

Hi there Miss-Placed.
We found your cache **"Get to the Point"** at 11:29:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 14304.
We have travellied from Darwin to Geraldton via the inland route - Newman, Meekatharra, Mount Magnet, etc. Now ew are here we plan to cache the area for a week or so.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the area today, even if we did have a few DNF's. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places.
We DNF'd this one earlier in the day, but after finding a few othes by this CO we decided to have another look. Gues what - it was in the first place we looked the second time around.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around two metres from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Checked on this cache today and was pleased to find that it is still in it's original location and waiting to be found. Happy hunting
Searched for a while, but as it was a pretty cold morning I soon gave up.
Will have to come back for this one.
Will have to come back for this one.
Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about with some of those friends and we targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!
Thanks Miss-Placed (F=291 H=25) for placing this cache.

Found with micaparamedic. A good place for a cache I thought and one that was quickly found too, thanks Miss-placed. Found with micaparamedic.
Our indicated GZ seemed to fit with comments in previous logs, but we couldn't find the cache. Our thanks anyway to Miss-Placed.
I was worried upon reading the logs for this one, but the caching God was with me today and I found it quickly. I think the old lady who was walking along as I jumped out of the car thought I was going to mug her. Lucky for her (and me I think, she looked like a tough old bird) that was not my intention, but her right did help to speed her up so I could get my cache hunting underway! TFTC Miss-Placed
Idling along ...
... beachside ...
this morning on the pushbike,
I was enjoying the fresh sea air,
the beautiful sunny weather,
the sounds of the sea
OK !! I'm getting to the point !!
Stop interrupting ...
Right where was I,
yes the pushbike was not performing as well as it should be this morning
All the sandy riding I have been doing around WA in recent months has taken its toll on the drive chain and gears [:o]
I'm getting there !!
Stop interrupting ...
And along me ride I hopped off the bike to take a stroll through more sand
Where I looked around for a while to find me a cache.
Did I mention the sound of the surf,
the fresh sea air
Or that the bike was malfunctioning ??
OK !! I'll get to the point ....

Awsome little hide this one, had us all hunting for quite sometime. Came up with the goods in the end though. I would have loved to have seen this area in it's hay day. Took a seat and pondered that for a while then had to move on Must get more caches thanks for bringing us to this great spot.
Hoping for a quick grab before heading home after work. Never goes to plan. Round and round and then just about to give up and there it is. TFTC Miss-Placed
Apart from one guy kite surfing the place was very quiet which is a lot different to when the caravan park was opposite. A quick find by the better half and away again. SL TFTC Miss-Placed.
We decided to cycle over to Separation Point to see if we could spot our son on his SUP, the wind was no good for paddle boarding - he wasn't there but there was a few intrepid fishermen who had walked out onto the reefs to fish. After watching their pursuits for a while we hopped back onto our bikes and head down to find the cache which is hidden within metres of where we used to have our first waypoint for Shine On Me which was retired a few years back. Wow how this little park has changed, well and truely returned to nature since our hide, there used to be a lovely green grassed area and a wonderful little lighthouse which served as a shower. Ah memories..... It surely wasn't that long ago!
Back to the cache, yes we found it! We signed to log and replaced it then back onto our bikes to continue our ride.
Thanks Miss-Placed
