#69 The kids wanted to push on even though the light was fading quickly. Didnt take long to find the well camouflaged cache. TFTC
Oooh this one nearly had me beaten but as usual spotted at the last moment. Blends in well.
I was spending a few days in Geelong after attending the Capital City Geobash in Canberra and I decided to do a day trip to Castlemaine grabbing caches along the way. Thank you AussieTrainDriver for placing and maintaining this cache..
After doing the nearby virtual we made our way along this road to collect the couple of caches on offer. Thanks for placing.
Out and about today in the Maldon area with Glanville Girls converting a few caches to smiles. Thanks for placing for our enjoyment.
Another find with LittleBoss2 and Geo the puppy. Thanks again Team Ninja, nice hide. I overlooked it, but LB2 was more thorough thankfully
Visiting the Maldon area today with Bogonghazy. Quick find. Thanks for placing the geocache
A short trip up to Maldon and Heathcote this weekend grabbing a few caches on the way.Rode the rail trails this morning, firstly towards Castlemaine, and then Maldon going north west. All the cache were there, but most need some TLC. Mostly wet logs and damaged containers. No sign of the overpass that I could see. It is the spot as I found the track on an old map. Thanks, Robmc.
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Out and about in Maldon again and it was time to finish this series. Good quick find here and was back on the road. Hard to imagine the overpass...
Thanks for the cache Team Ninja....cache all good.

After a kick start to the day at at the "Lose the Blues Morning Tea" we had a great day of caching around the Maldon area. We actually logged a DNF here about 15 months back, we had a win today Blues all gone!
Thanks to AussieTrainDriver for placing caches in interesting locations.

Another week of the school holidays means more fun, adventure and geocaching of course with both kids while camping at Maldon in the caravan. JK found in 3secs flat. Nice to learn the history of the old timers how they transported goods back in the old days.
Found one like this yesterday so today was a quick & easy “2nd thing I touched” grab, TFTC
Nice little cache in a well camo'd position. There is no need to pull rocks out of the structure as it looks like some have done recently!
Found it. Very sneaky. Luckily we found it quickly because there is something dead in the area. Pew
Thanks

We looked high, we looked low, we looked in, we looked out,
but today there was no way we could work this one out!
Even put out a PAF shout! Still no luck - too good for us today.
Thanks for the hunt anyway AussieTrainDriver.

Easy find once I stopped following the distance and followed the coordinates. Tftc.
A day trip to Maldon with the oldest geokid today to nab a few caches with friends from school, JollyWanderers (newbie cachers). An easy find here. Always nice to revenge a DNF! Many thanks for the cache.
Caching in the area we were able to finish off the SL series after running out of time on our last visit here. Starting backwards we worked our way down to Floodway, enjoying the remnants of the old abandoned railway that each cache had to show us.
Found the underpass(the cache) while admiring the overpass.
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for highlighting this historic railway line.

The day dawned a bit cooler today in Saint Arnaud.
We started out doing some of the StArs geo art, but then headed of to Bendigo for a baby sitting day tomorrow.
On the way we deviated to get Forte's Ground, and then some very enjoyable caches nearer Bendigo,
This one was a little tricky, but we found it.
This was the last one we had time for. We'll have to come back to this area when we have more time.

A detour along a nuggety track,
took me to a familiar spot
It was time to turn a frown upside down
So where is the cache,
oh where oh where ?
I looked here,
I looked there !! [:o]
Ten minutes of looking did not reveal the cache
So nothing for it but to look again
And this time around in the most likely spot,
I spied the merest hint of what ??
Yep !!
Of course that is what I expected to find,
and finally spied it,
so this one's found

Our last cache for the day as the rain is coming down quite heavily now. A quick dash across the road by Mr Harrowang and a quick retrieval and back to the dry Cruiser. SL at 4.24pm and then another quick dash across the road to replace the cache. #6183 TFTC and the series AussieTrainDriver - back to the Motel to get dry and warm
Maryborough to Maldon staying at Butts Reserve
After setting up camp we decided to begin the SL trail starting from the end.
We glimpsed many sections of the abandoned railway line. Enjoyed our day travelling the country side.

I needed a calendar day filled today (my 2019 goal) but with work all day followed by karate for the youngest kid and the closest cache half an hour away it wasn't going to be easy.
We multi-tasked on the way with the kids (boo09 & neisha07) reading aloud to me as I drove and we soon found ourselves here just on dusk. We were thankful for a nice quick find after a DNF here on a previous visit. TFTC Team_Ninja

A quick grab and we were on our way on this interesting run of caches thanks Team_ninja.
Nice one, well hidden, and an easy find, if you know what you are looking for.
Could have been in lots of places!
We love the underpass, it's a lovely rock cutting, a real feature.

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
You could make out where the cutting was so there must have been an overpass.
Look in a few spots then soon spotted something that I have seen before.
Thanks Team_Ninja TFTC TFTS.

TFTC and for sharing the history of this particular Rail Line. Er had completed some of the SL series caches from the Maldon end a week or so ago. Being a nice day for a drive we decide to complete the series , starting form this end . We could then circle from Maryborough to Maldon and then back to Maryborough without having to do any back tracking.=For the most part we found the caches without too much drama. One of the multis gave us a bit of trouble, more of that in the log for that particular cache. A great series and worthy of a favorite from us.
So I hunted for over an hour. Got my son & hubby to come & help me. We could see a lot of previous activity but sadly we had to walk away from this cache with it being unfound.

Unfortunately we have to add our names to the list of DNFs. We had 7 pairs of eyes searching and the scouts turned over lots of rocks as branches etc but couldn’t find it . Thanks anyway
I claimed a DNF on this tricky cache a year or two ago !!
Today I was determined to find it
I read the clues,
previous logs,
etc ...
Then spent 20 minutes combing the area for another hard earned ...
... you guessed it
DNF !!
I'll be back !!

Tricky little hide here. Frustrated me for a while, didn't see it, more found it when I accidentally touched it and thought 'that feels different'
Again another great spot. Many thanks

Find No. 1874. Found at 2.15pm
A trip to Maldon, in our geoute, to attend the Annual Swap Meet, have a look in the shops and do some caching. Even attended the monthly market that was on today. FUF009 came with us for the day.
We done the three caches in town we had to do, then done the trail. Now we only have two more to do on our way home to complete the caches in Maldon. This was one of them.
Well this one took quite a while to find. Determined not to go away with a DNF we looked everywhere. FUF009 was with us and he had found it when it was in another spot so he helped us look for it. To find it you need to read the hint and go from there. Guess it should have been easy to find, but it was so well camoflaged that it wasn't until we were on our second time of looking that Mrs Tyred n Cranky came up with the goods. Even had FUF009 puzzled on locating this in its new spot.

No luck for Team Clarmensma today after a 20 minute search. We'll be in town for a bit longer if CO sees this and would like to send a hint. TFTH

Visited this one today and it was indeed missing. There are some roadworks happening here and the tree which it was hidden on has taken a bit of a beating. I suspect the bison tube is in the grass somewhere at the base of the tree but I couldn't find it.
I put a new bison tube in a new location a few metres away from the road, so it should be safe from the works going on.

Sounds like this one may be missing...will check it out next time I'm in the area.
And this one was too challenging
The cutting is interesting though
Even if the cache eluded me

I thought I'd make the most of my one day off and this beautiful weather to go out and find the SL Series, starting from The End and working my way back. I loved the history and the amount of work gone into creating this series.
My final cache for the day and I couldn't find it. Maybe it was cache blindness. Perhaps starvation was starting to kick in as it was way past lunch time by this stage. Whatever my excuse (haha) this one got the better of me. This time! I'll be back

Suscoe headed north very early this morning for a day of caching around the Maldon and Newstead area.
We left home in steady drizzle but by the time we crossed the divide the sky eased up a bit. For the remainder of the day we had sunny skies with the occasional cloud and a generous southerly wind blowing which kept temperatures in the high teens and low twenties.
The country is pretty dry around here but we were pleased to report that grass seeds are not as bad here compared to the North East and even Castlemaine.
We enjoyed this Maldon - Shelbourne railway trail and had a terrific morning making our way from The End to The Beginning.
A big thank you to Team Ninja for a very well researched set of Cache notes and for sharing this knowledge with us.
This one had us going for quiet a while, not being sure what it might be we looked and looked and looked and looked again.
We figure that if you look often enough the cache finally gives up hiding and sure enough it did.
What a sneaky hide here.
That cutting is narrow!!!!!

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) , mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on , realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got too close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]
Thanks to Team_Ninja and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!
We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.
One of many fun finds on along the way on the "SAW STUFF" road trip to central Victoria with Shonki, Astro, Waldron, Southern cross, Twdg, Uni & Freddo [^]

Bendigo Cup Day and the Sisterhood of the Cargo Pants were off on a day out. We had lots of fun except for the damn mosquitoes everywhere.
Because we all live in Bendigo we started from The End and worked our way towards Maldon. Nice bit of cammo and the Geogetters were straight on to it.

Find #1086 for me. The GPS signal was jumping a little here and initially had me looking on both sides of the road. The hint put me on the right track though and I found the very sneaky hide after about 6 minutes. Thanks for the cache Team_Ninja!
A biteicky, as the coordinates put you in the middle of the road. Other than that, a good little cache. TFTC
