Time to retire this one. It's had a few replacements along the way and run its course. Thank you to everyone who found it and gave it a favourite point ??
We arrived at GZ keen to work on this field cache. A padlock and contents were missing. We tried lots of combinations on the combination padlock but were unable to move the dial and didn’t want to force it. Great looking cache but we weren’t able to sign the log.
Probably needs maintenance, the lock was missing and the trapdoor was open when we got here. No sign of any decoding tool
With an RDO today and a leave pass from the Minister of War and Finance, I had an invite from a caching friend in the East to come over for the weekend and do some caching together, an offer to good to refuse as living in Ballarat I don't often get over to this part of the world. So I had pretty much all day to myself today so I planned to sign all the challenge caches in this park and pick up whatever else I happened to go past.
What a great cache to kick of the weekend! After a couple of false starts mixing up my left and right, from rushing, I finally had the combination worked out and the log book in my hands. Loved the uniqueness of this cache. Def a FP from me. Thx PaultheBall for a great cache.

What a great cache! Never seen on of these before, so it took a while to get used to and work out the best ways of working!
Thank for the cache!

After an isolated 2020 in Melbourne mostly restricted to a few blocks around home we decided to make up for it this year getting out even more than previously. None of this "Now we appreciate going out to the outdoors even more now!" as we've always appreciated it - just ensuring there are no wasted opportunities.
So today the map showed that somehow we had never been in the Churchill National Park, and as a bonus there are many caches around these hills. Despite the summer heat and big hills we enjoyed the 8km walk to Lysterfield Park and back, although disappointingly the caching tally ended up with more DNFs than finds. Just like walking fitness I've lost some of my finding skills (although my DNF stats over the years would indicate I probably never had them in the first place )...
Finishing up a great walk with a disappointingly large number of DNFs. Actually this was the only physical find of the day. I had never seen this tool put to use like this - it worked like clockwork and I was able to decipher the code needed. It was so good I had to call Pacgirl and Snoopy in from the main track to have a look as well.
Thanks, paultheball - a FP from me.
(PS. This is a late log posted on 13/11/2021, and it is sad to see this cache has subsequently been archived due to vandalism. It is very unlikely a muggle would have just stumbled onto this GZ .)

Out and about with Muzza for his 15Kth find. This cache was an enjoyable stroll through the woods. Easily located and after some time, logged. FP from me. TFTC paultheball
Maintenance run today. Cache is infested with ants. Will need to come back and clean it up before re-enabling.
Once we had evicted the ants, we set to work. This was certainly a bit of fun. Must say, with the amount of time it takes, a higher D/T felt like it was deserved, lol. Thanks for the clever cache.
As previously stated, these caches are better done on a day when the sun isn't so hot but well worth the walk. This one surprised us that the D/T was as it is as we are sure we have more grey hairs. Serious concentration needed. Thanks for another great cache. Another favourite point coming your way.
We were very impressed by Churchill Park and the local residents And then we found our first ever gadget cache. Wow! What a fantastic experience. The kids absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for this. Hands down our best and favourite cache in Melbourne. TFTC
For this gadget cache it was definitely useful to have more than one person -- someone to read out the instructions, while someone else managed the device. It all made sense after a minute or so, and we successfully decoded. (I had never used one of these things before, despite being a child of the 80s.) Awesome fun on our first post-lockdown caching adventure. Found with team milljrh and abthings. TFTC!
Found this cache pretty quickly whilst out night caching last Saturday. It was a great cache to find whilst introducing some newbies into the world of geocaching. Thanks for the cache, we thoroughly enjoyed finding this one
#999. Almost there! This was a fun cache taking us back to childhood memories. Initial process through resulted in some confusing results so a clean slate and 2nd time through was super clear and the cache was in hand shortly after!
This was super fun!! My first foray with this tool and I feel like playing all day (big favourite point) however we have Roaming Howies 1000th cache to find next!
Ps should I mention one of us is better at listening than the other?! thus, this cache took two attempts

Awesome!! Love it. Glad we had two people otherwise there would have been lots of mistakes and re-tries. Thank you so much!
Wow that was a fun one! Didn't think paultheball could top the previous one, but there it is! I'm burning through my favourite points today!
Thanks again to paultheball for creating an awesome cache. Tftc!

I think I left the best of the caches for last. What an amazing experience. I had one of these as a kid and soon enough I worked out the final code. I had a fantastic time today. Many thanks. TFTC TAD
We were out and about enjoying the discover Victoria Adventure Lab that bought us to this great littler park and while here we thought that we would take advantage of a cooler day and do a small loop walk picking up some caches along the way.
Without giving anything away after opening part one we were taken back to our when our kids were very young and these things were all the rage. Our direction following ability proved to be a little rusty and we wound up having two false starts before it all came together and we had what we needed. Not long after we were adding our name to the log and then returning everything as it was.
Many thanks paultheball for another excellent gadget cache, another favourite point added to the cache page.

After an initial total stuff up. Mrs squiggle got her act together and we were able to access the cache.
We had the pleasure and privilege of staying with WV Tim a few years ago and having a guided tour to many of his caches which were amazing.

Love love loved this one!! Last of the day, and knocked out this whole series (minus the archived ones )
Found with JelenaGreenleaf, used team work to solve, even if we had to do it twice cause one of the instructions I gave wasn't right/was missed ahahaha. Great place for a cache and was hidden from the track so we could take our time. Well worth a fav! Tftc

Found with georocks101. Working out this cache as a team was so much fun, definitely reminded me of my childhood. The thought and effort that's gone into all these caches is amazing! I was so nice seeing this park I never even knew existed and the caches have been top class. Once again, thanks so much paultheball for creating and maintaining them all
Another amazing cache, great condition too! Thanks for all the effort, geo kids loved it!
Love puzzle caches! With the five geokids and Bowenz we headed to this one after a few others on the way. The kids loved solving the puzzle! Fav from me TFTC

Got caught in the rain as soon as we reached the cache. Oh boy! The skies opened up on us and we had no wet weather gear on. We should have drawn the line when we saw the huge black cloud threateningly loom over us! But a cache was nearby and it had to be found!
In the rain we did the teamwork to open up this cache! Cool idea!
Thank you paultheball, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.

A trip to town and a chance to catch up with ADI again so after taking care of some other duties we headed to find some caches we both had not found.
Seeing all the favourite points we headed into the park to see what we could find. The clouds looked back as just as we made the last steps of find the rain bucketed down. No good trying to hide under the trees as we still got drenched. This stopped us from finding some more and of course as we walked back to the car the rain stopped but we were way too wet to double back.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Out caching for the day, MontsII and myself decided to finally do the much talked about Gadget caches in Churchill. We had a great afternoon walking around and making the finds! Thanks for placing the cache paultheball
Found with Earle1. Very clever cache. Havent used one of these for a few years! Tftc
Gave the lock some WD40 love. One number stuck but cache is still good for gadgeting
25 Aug 2019: Streak Day #178/366 (1 March 2019 - 29 February 2020).
Caching day at Churchill National Park. Beautiful day and place! Saw kangaroos. Thank you paultheball for placing the cache and fun. I was so happy to try this tool as I always wanted when I were kid but never get it. A fav from me.

Found your cache today. When I was little girl I always love to play with it. We tried to work out and got it. fav from me. paultheball, thank you so much for placing it.
Awesome fun to solve this one!! Geokids haven't used this tool before and had a great time following directions!
Lock was very stuck, a couple of them on the right number and had to turn with pliers to get the others to move, so some WD40 would be good.
Great cache and really fun to solve. Nearby echidna was a bonus too

The lock for this is struggling with 2 numbers stuck and the others very difficult to turn, we used pliers for one. Some WD40 is probably all that is needed. We didn't read the logs before we went or would have done this for you. This was the case for most of the caches in the park. We had a wonderful time finding them today and loved all the amazing puzzles!! Thanks!
Well that was a bit of a problem to open but solved the problem and cache signed.
One of the locks was frozen.
A bit of WD40 would have helped.

**Find #3471**
**Traditional Cache Find #2345**
I headed out this afternoon in search of caches with lots of favourite points to assist me to complete the "Cache Carnivale." The combination to this lock required the use of a toy that I don't think was invented when I was a boy. Nonetheless, I quickly came to grips with it and by carefully following the instructions, soon had the combination. I saw no sign of the trackables that the inventory shows ought to be in this cache.

Find #5 in the gadget series and they seem to be getting better and better!!
Another great idea that didn't take too long to reach the desired result
Could easily have spent more time playing and drawing but once the log was signed it was time to move on
Accolades again to paultheball

Well this was a team effort - I read the instructions and my husband did the decoding. FP for your ingenuity paultheball. We had such fun and relived memories of our past!
Coming to the end of our lovely walk here, been lucky enough to have seen loads of kangaroos and no snakes.
This took us back, we both had one as kids.
Another favorite point for the idea.

Another excellent cache. But as I am useless at can't tell left from right it took me a few goes. In the end I had to logic guess the last number as I totally fluffed it.
With a new cache challenge upon us we were looking for an area which had caches with a high number of favourite points. We initially selected an area down the Peninsula but then came across this series. We had never done gadget caches before so thought we would go and have a look. Must admit I was a bit worried about being able to work them out and how long they would take however all was good.
Taking our time we obtained the tool to work out the code. Geo husband with the tool and I reading the instructions. We got what we were after on the third attempt. A favourite point for the effort and idea for this cache. TFTC

Thanks paultheball. A definite favourite.

Neither of us had played with this gadget when we were kids and so it took us two attempts before we got it right - but another truly brilliant cache and what great use of a kids toy! We signed the log book signed and then returned everything as found. Thanks so much for another inventive cache and another favourite point awarded. Greetings from Zimbabwe
We pretty quickly found what we were looking for. We acquired the necessary tool but had to have several goes at getting the answer. Eventually we got something that looked plausible and fortunately it worked. The log was signed and off to the next one.

Travelled here today with geofamily for gadget cache fun. We were not disappointed. We really enjoyed the hands on fun. Introduced geokid to the reset button technique.
Thank you. Never used the decoding tool before. Great idea and cache. Thank you
After a couple of false starts we finally managed to coordinate a weekend with Betty Boo and Robmc for some caching. Yesterday we tackled the handbags, today it was the balls. We had heard that this was a terrific series and in danger of disappearing so we headed out to the other side of town.
It is indeed a terrific series and I hope they do stick around - more fun than mint tins in trees, that's for sure. Mr Morris was able to manipulate the device under Robmcs watchful eye.
Thanks for the fun paultheball

Out for the day with BettyBoo3747and all of The Morris.
We spent the day at Lysterfield/Churchill parks, fairly smoky, but no fires in this area.
A nice mild day for a stroll in the parks.
A very cute decoding too! Been a while since I have seen one of these. Mr Morris had no problems using it and as Lady Morris read out the instructions, the code slowly appeared. A great idea for a cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

#15258. Out with Robmc and The Morris on a smoky Saturday morning. What a fantastic group of caches and worth the long hike around the park gathering up the smilies. A favourite point for each one in the series.
We weren't sure what we were going to find at these caches - A nice little puzzle to work through slowly, so that we had success at first try. It is amazing how something like this suddenly makes you query which is L and which is R etc.
Dropped a motorbike TB to continue its travels from here and retrieved the Globe TB to move along.
Thanks paultheball

I had one of these as a child. It is a fun toy, even now. I worked with a girl who always wanted one, but Santa never obliged. She bought one as an adult and played with it in her lunch break. Echidna is left with no doubt that Boab does not know clockwise from anticlockwise and left from right. But we got there in the end.
Out with BoabTree, we planned the day to start with the gadget series in Lysterfield Park.
Deprived childhoods meant we had a couple of trial runs before obtaining the required numbers. Great fun. Thanks paultheball.

Well that was fun . What an incredible cache . Deserves a favourite . Dropped in a TB. Thanks Paul.
Grub62 had seen this group of gadget caches so we are on a mission to complete them. Steep hill tracks plus some bush bashing are not easy for older overweight unfit geocachers like myself but I love a gadget cache so I struggled to keep up with Grub62. Making it eventially to GZ we found a well construced and thought out cache. Well done paultheball. Together we worked on this cache and worked out how to unlock the container. You get a well deserved favourite point for this one. TFTC paultheball.
Having heard that Hotline was soon to be decommissioned Bunadoorian and I ventured out to find the gadget caches today. Absolutely loved this one - HOW clever to think about the cache and the device instructions.. Log signed and returned. TFTC paultheball. Find 7 of 8 today.
Yet another very interesting and well thought out cache. All in good condition. Fave point from me. TFTC and the series
We were in the area with the primary goal of grabbing a cache that is about to be archived and was something a little bit special. So of course while here we thought we would try and make a dent in the area and add a few smileys to our map.
I really loved this one. I never had one as a child but did manage to use one on the odd occasion. Here Neville_devil took control as I read out the instructions.
An easy favourite point to give here. As they all have been today.
Thank you paultheball

We parked at the picnic grounds in Churchill Park and rode around up and down hills, Heading back to the car we stopped for a breather and noticed a cache about a 100 metres away and went back for a look. So glad I did as this was a fun cache to crack open.
Took: Joy in solving
Left: Geocoin and Fav Point.
My thanks to Paultheball for placing and maintaining this excellent cache

Needing a reasonable easy day because of a knee injury, a walk around Churchhill park with Simsfamily and Neville devil seemed like a good idea, but with many more ups and downs than expected I spent the day in pain, but It was well worth it with a variety of Great caches around the area.
This is the first time I've seen one of these used in a productive way, greatly deserving of a favorite point.
Log signed and replaced as found.

This was another awesome cache of the series!! Thank you for the cache! It was still in good condition on the day!
You beauty! We are never too old to play, and this one brought back memories from waaay back. Teamwork worked well: One read out the instructions, one drove the gadget - and the secret revealed itself. S particularly liked this one, so here's another FP!
Found at 2:49 PM GAFF1.
We have done a cache like this one in Maitlaand, but it had about 30 sets of instructions and we got hopelessly lost after about 10 everytime - we also had a massive hangover from the night before [B)]
This one turned out to be nice and straight forward and not too taxing and the numbers were drawn first go [^]

Oh boy - the legends are true!
Having experienced my first gadget caches at the Parkville Event I was feeling inspired to make the effort to get down to paltheball’s gadget playground in the beautiful Churchill National Park.
This was my second after a DNF at Hotline. What a joy - such a nostalgic device and what a clever twist on it’s use. Loved, loved loved it!

The geo husband loves anything to do with gadgets, so he was in his element today. We both had this device as kids, although it’s been awhile since we have played with one of them. Took us a couple of tries, apparently I must of read one of the instructions incorrectly:) but got it on the second attempt.
Great fun and very impressive paultheball. Cheers

I’m glad I brought my creative daughter with me she had fun working this one out.
A very clever way of discovering the code. Took me back to my childhood too. I barked out the instructions an ilukaperi got to play with the device and just like magic, the code appeared in front of us. Nicely done. I can see I am going to use up some FAV points doing these caches...
Caching with day1976, Nice fun cache, brought me back to childhood a little as I had to work out how to use the device again.
Found by Mary & David at 1530. Had fun with this one. Lost our place during the first attempt, and so our answer didn't work. Started again with more care, and this time we could open the larger lock and sign the log. Yes, another FP. Our thanks to paultheball.

*All in all I did manage to find 263 caches, 9 types, 3 new months and many more statistical fillers.*
