Logs
TFTC. Logbook is full otherwise everythings fine at GZ bit of a bush bash to get this one but well worth it once here.
Today I did the Kate Reed Parkrun which I really enjoyed quite different to all the other PR I have done. After a coffee, snack and a rest in the car (after being chucked out of the park) I walked back in around the barrier (why on earth they dont let people park in here on the weekend I have no idea) and headed off to find a few caches. I had been really looking forward to caching here and having some time on my own. Sadly I found the park to be hard to navigate (trails mainly suited to biking rather than walking), so many fallen trees and loads of bastard prickle bushes and pollen. I decided to quit whilst I was ahead and found 12 of the 15 caches I had intended to look for. Got back to the car hours later tired, battered with hay fever and ripped pants. Oh well . It was a good caching day out .Fun find TFTC
My daughter loved this! Took a pick but can't share. Paths in KR are slightly frustrating due to being for MB so lots of zig zagging for smaller legs. TFTC.
K is for Kenny Koala I reckon. Bit of bush bashing but I got there! Log needs replacing. All full so nowhere to write.
With a day planned on foot to grab hides in the Kate Reed Nature Recreation Area [lets call it the KRNRA for short, lol even that is kinda long ha ha] i made this one 8th for my day {hoping like crazy i don't get rained out later as it was forecast for after lunch }
With a bit of a back track and search about i eventually gravitated to the more obvious object and the cache was quickly in hand. A nicely themed cache with a dry log inside. Signed that at 11:14 on Thursday 22 June 2023.
replaced cache as found with a bit more natural camo as it was a wee bit exposed on discovery.

Still in Launceston we decided to head to Kate Reed reserve which is very close to the caravan park where we were staying. There are so many caches that are in here, so today instead of driving past we headed in. We attempted 13 today and can report we found all 13 attempted. It is great area so close to the city but such a shame about the gorse. Mr W bush bashed to this one. No longer up the tree. TFTC
Found it. Way off the trail we were on between two trails. Bush bashing required.
Out and about collecting caches around Kate Reed that I hadn't got yet. Saw this cache from a way away.
Great cache, I would give it a fav point if I new how to. Took a while to extract the cache out of his nose . Tftc! Love this one

Okay. The koala was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

We're currently spending a week or so in Launceston for a little bit of an end-of-year getaway. Today we had plans to head north up the Tamar, but figured we'd start our morning with a light walk through Kate Reed reserve to pick up a few caches we missed last time we were there.
This was the first one we picked up, a short walk after arriving at the reserve. Definitely a great way to start our day - quite the unusual container! Well constructed! And the reserve is always a great place to explore, no matter what you find.
All in all, definitely an enjoyable cache, so a big TFTC from us!

Visiting Tassie from the Blue Mountains and for my last afternoon in town wanted to go gather some caches and the nature reserve here seemed a great place to spend some time. Thanks Tassie because you didn’t disappoint! Had a very enjoyable afternoon caching here and enjoying the walk. All finds were straight forward. To those that hid the cache, thanks. #4 of 11 this afternoon.
Took a little but if bush bashing but soon had this awesome cache in hand. Thanks for a very unique cache
K is for kaught this one hiding in the bush. Nice cutout.
Also saw near GZ his mate, B is for Blue tongue lizard
All good with it.

We have often looks at Kate’s series of caches in her reserve but for some reason have never quite got there so this time we plotted to get a number of them.
Some nice field puzzles and a bit of wildlife as we worked our way around and also picked up the higher rated traditionals.
No real problems with the hides after we let the GPSr settle. A maze of tracks at some points and a few mountain bikers to dodge at one stage. We completed the various signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

A little bit of off track work, he was not quite where we expected to find him, but find him we did. TFTC
Just a little bush bash to get to GZ from the track but luckily no one around today so I was able to leave the bike near the track before heading up to GZ. I was originally looking for a slumbering animal amongst the trees but soon found him hiding elsewhere. TNLN TFTC!
Out for an early morning walk today and made the most of a cooler start and set off grabbing a few caches out this way. Had to detour off the track for a little bit and after a minute or so soon located the fitting cache, not so much in it's natural environment though l think. A nice hide all the same, thanks Revhead24-7 and activehunters for the hide.
Tassie Trip Day 190 - Well with a day at the van for cleaning the junior member decided to go for a walk in the bush as the day was suppose to be a little on the damp side so it was somewhere close and a few cache to collect.
K is for Koala and it was a very easy to cache Koala and to be honest it looks like it has a missing nose but that is just my opinion and it was a nice quick find to get the log signed and all returned to the resting place.
thanks Revhead24-7 and activehunters for this wonderful cache container.

Camped at Launceston, out around town today for a few caches. Quick find, good coordinates. Cache all good. TFTC
Did some cross country walking here. Too busy watching for snakes to really appreciate the bush though. Cute container.
this was one of my favourites found it with my mum DaryVafder last year and was excited! i had a picture with this cute Koala TFTC
out and about with Pear in Launceston to gather some smiley faces, TFTC TNLN log dry nice scenery and locals, only cache my GPS downloaded so I had this one no worries.
Thanks for the cache Revhead24-7 and activehunters. Found with RLD4963 on a visit to Launceston. A cool, clear sunny day for the last day of Autumn - perfect for a stroll around Kate Reed Reserve looking for caches. Cute cache container, cheers!
OK, so it is now 2 from 2 for Reperio on this outing (in the only competition that matters - no, there is no rivalry between us!) Hid a little better before we left, K was a bit exposed to the weather, and we didn't want him catching cold. TFTC
Easy find with Gyrosweeper, and geopup Mollie. Easy find but log wet and nearly full. Love the hide, lots of effort put in. TFTC
What's this !!??
A Koala in Tasmania [:o]
There have never been koalas in Tasmania !! [:o]
Not even giant sabre toothed koalas in the fossil record
So why is this introduced past here ??
To hide a geocache of course
Hey !!
The koala isn't real !!

Out and about on the mountain bike today. Ditched the bike for a small scramble and an easy find. Thank you
We did a circuit of Kate Reed Reserve today and picked up a few caches along the way. Dodged a few mountain bikes but thankfully they thinned out as we neared GZ. I think we walked twice as far as we had to get this cache, but eventually we found the right track, and accurate co-ordinates led to a quick find. Such a creative and cute cache container too. Well done and thanks Revheads24-7 for organising this cache.
What a cutie - lots of effort here. We replaced the log with a very narrow sheet of waterproof paper (due to the size of the log holder) so it's not going to last long if there are many geocachers visiting. The old wet log is still in there too. TFTC!
Back home after being in Tassie for a holiday, now the daunting task of logging all our finds, sorting through the scraps of paper with notes on them.
Had a few days of sunshine, a lot of days of rain, ended up with just over 105 finds all up on this trip, and visited many tourist spots in the north of Tassie.
found this cache after spending the night here in Launceston
dodging mountain bikers and dog walkers all through this area.
loved the cache container
thanks to the CO's for this cache

Hello Revhead24-7 thank you for the cache.
Junior EeePees was in Launceston doing some refereeing at some soccer games over the weekend so EeePees asked me if I wanted to join him for the weekend and see if we could find some caches while J.E.P. was refereeing. Of course I jumped at the chance to spend the weekend with such a great mate and find caches in and around Launceston.
This was my 9th for the day and the 39th for the weekend.
We once again bush bashed our way to this cache leaving the track when the GPS showed us the shortest distance to the cache. I was looking a lot higher than needed to find the cache when EeePees said he dad found it. The log was wet so it was hard to sign the log. I suggested we hide it in slightly different so it wasn't out in the weather and might dry out a bit.
I ended up with 25 caches today and 55 caches found over the weekend and one DNF.

Hi Revhead24-7 and activehunters, we found this cute little guy in the damp. Log is wet, but managed some initials with a good quality pen. Lesser pens or pencils will wreck the logsheet.
As comments about a wet log over the last 3 months appear to have not resulted in any action, we decided to move him slightly within his hide, to a spot that seemed drier.
It’d be nice if the logsheet was replaced though.
TFTC
Out and about caching with AlbyDangles. We'd travelled up from Hobart Friday night, found a bunch of nice WestTamar caches yesterday. We dropped off geoTeenRef for his duties at the junior soccer tournament at ChurchillPark at 8am again today, and decided to enjoy the Kate Reed Reserve this morning.

drop bears are easy to find when you look to where they may land! Log is soaked and unusable, needs replacing
Up North to gather as many caches possible in a short period. We had determined some caches that we really wanted to get and this one was on that list because we had heard how great this area was for some caches. What a cute container. This was the last cache for the day. The log was damp and starting to fall apart but we were still able to sign it.

Sadly I couldn't find Kevin today did a lot of walking aimlessly through the bush got a bit lost on the way out but down the track again will be back another day
Apologies for the delay in posting our log. We've just had a great 16 day holiday in Tassie. Now back home on the mainland it's time to log our 108 finds of the trip.
The log is wet but we still thought this one worthy of a Fav from us.

The main reason for this trip to Launceston was to get Mr Beetle's e-bike fixed. Picked it up this afternoon and decided we wanted to give it a good test before heading home tomorrow so had a look at the caches in Reed Park and decided that finding them would be a good test.
This one was found first but unfortunately I forgot a pen so had to make a second trip through the scrub to it to sign it. Did contemplate contacting the CO and describing the unique container but as I'm always sceptical of 'No pen - couldn't sign it' logs I decided to do the right thing instead!!
Also found A for ant today and that was an impressive cache as well!!
Thanks, a favourite point from us!!!

Was actually looking up high in a tree lol nope! Love these types of caches very creative fav point for me. Makes me think of blinky bill tftc
Log is soggy and needs replacing could not sign but took photo for proof of find
With Angus88. Great cache. Found well away from GZ and in full view on the ground. Have returned it to what was my GZ. Clue is large tree trunk in case my GZ was incorrect. Lost K's nose in transit. Searched for ages for nose, found and replaced. TFTC. MAGGIE2 AND ANGUS88
Definitely didn't take the correct path to this one. Kev would've been laughing at us if he hadn't have face planted from the tree. Gave him a dust off and cuddle before setting him off again.
Many thanks Revhead24-7 from the Wacky one

Tftc found it more easily than I thought I would. Lucky I took the correct path, not often I do that in this reserve. Will get back in time for school pickup
A bit of bush bashing required but e found him.

Poor old Kev was back on the ground, but cache & contents all good. Nice idea, TFTC! Now where was that track...??
Poor old koala had fallen on the ground so we popped him back up. His eyes have come off though TFTC.
Given the weather forecast for later today and the next few days, we decided to come to look for this cache late this morning. After parking our car we headed off into the Kate Reed Reserve. Having been in the area before helped us to pick the right tracks (and to avoid the mountain bikers) and we were able to get within about 70m of the cache. Then it was walking through very light scrub and bush for a short distance until we saw Kev up in a tree, asleep of course. We were glad that Kev didn't have a heavy cold as we retrieved the logbook, although he must have the sniffles as the logbook was slightly damp. Otherwise the very creative and imaginative cache was in good condition. Thanks Revhead24-7 and activehunters for a great cache - it earns a favourite from us for the creativity. This cache enabled us to extend our streak to 91 days.
We thought we were familiar with the tracks in this area, having been caching here on several occasions. So (coming from the underpass) we cannily un-zigged when they zagged, took the odd shortcut & then thought "aha!" when we spotted the line of pink tape heading in the right direction & the track didn't. Well that pink tape was a line but definitely not a track, & though it did get us within 100m or so - eventually, we found the real track on our return would have been a whole lot easier. So "Rock Drop" beats "Pink Tape" beats "Berm" I guess. Or was that scissors? Once at GZ, poor Kevin had once again been unceremoniously dumped out of his perch by the evil wind of the west & was found to be trying to sustain himself on that yukky grass, so after registering our visit we relocated him back in his favorite tree. Thanks for a fun hide & the exercise Revhead.
Hi Revhead24-7
Had been tied up in the Huon too long; so into the cache mobile and head for Launceston to look for gnomes and a few other caches.
Gets to Trevallyn only to find most of the moveables I want to collect had already been found and not put back out yet.
So I looks on the GPS and the Geocaching Australia site, there are two moveables still in the vicinity, so off I go to look for them.
Having made those finds, it was now time to look for others. My other finds so far are: "Out on a Tangent," "Path Reach," Bark Reach," "Ingamells Reserve."Those found this cache was the next.
Hate it when the Silverdome gates aren't open - I've got to bend down and go under 'cos I'm to old and short to go over. Took a fire trail for as long as I could before having to "bash" my way to GZ.
Having arrived, a quick search found Kev out of his tree trying to eat grass.
Found and Sainted this cache at 1425hrs.
That done he scampered back up to his roost until the next finder decides to go get him. Took a similar route out to that I used to walk in.
Now off to "Junior Chamber Punchbowl."
TFTC and cheers

Found Kevin strolling through the undergrowth so put him back in his tree, he seems much happier now. TFTC.
Tried to just send in the Mr for this one but as usual couldn't help myself and we both bush bashed our separate ways to the cache. What a cute cache!! The mission proved to be getting the log out, but fortunately we had plenty of tools to choose from. Thanks so much for another great cache!
I get a little lost most times when I go for a walk through this reserve and on getting ever closer found that I was on the wrong track. Nothing for it but to do a bit of bashing through the scrub. Easily located this well constructed cache, nice work. Probably the first koala that I have seen in Tasmania. 5 of 26.. in anticipation.. thanks..!!
