Today Im starting out early from Smithton to do a lap along the coast, then head into The Tarkine and back to some tall timber where Im staying. Its gonna be a huge day exploring, driving and caching On my walk to the archway I was half expecting to see a fairy , a sprite or even perhaps a goblin pop out on the path. It truly was a magical, peaceful and relaxing place to wander through . And then the archway, what can I say, Mother Nature is amazing.TFTC Tassie TrekkersKeep smiling

Find Number 2633 found at 14:24. Today we found 5 caches. We had 3 DNFs. This was the 5th find of the day

Day 6 of our tour round Tasmania. Today we drove from Stanley to Arthur River via the Tarkine Drive, in gale force winds and sudden heavy showers of rain. We did, however, manage to attempt some caches between showers.

A most impressive sight. Someone told me that this was the Do Not Miss sight in the Tarkine and I can't say that they were wrong.

Answers have been sent to the CO

Thanks Tassie Trekkers for the cache.

Staying in the area and decided to visit this beautiful spot after seeing many friends make visits recently. I wasn't disappointed - a true spectacle of nature delighted us after a short rainforest walk. Not many people about so we were able to take it all in and enjoy. TFTC Tassie Trekkers.

Having just disembarked the previous day this was my first day exploring Tasmania. I decided to head West on the Tarkine Drive.
When I arrived in the car-park I thought I saw a sign with 'karst' on it. I grew excited as I have a great interest in cave exploration. a bit of a bummer that this one has collapsed and flooded.
Anyway thanks for bringing me to this interesting spot.

3 days off from work, and Geo Kid O joined me on a journey to Stanley and then down along the western explorer road towards Corinna. We have a great time finding a number of caches and driving a road I had not travelled on before.

The Western Explorer road was closed for a while and recently had been reopened with a new bridge near Balfour. Some very interesting sights along the way, with part of the road feeling more like a forest track, and other parts felt like a place where no one else has gone in the past, other than on the road. The open button grass plains were amazing along with the mountain views.

We stayed in Stanely, and the caches in and around Stanely were very good, including one walk to the top of the Nut. Gee that is a steep 400 metre walk.

Thank you for the cache which was part of our journey

Trowutta arch has been on my to do list for quite some time and today was the day! Starting at 6am we left Launceston prepared for our big day out. We planned to go to the edge of the world first them do the tarkine drive to trowutta arch and then a stop in Smithton for some pub grub. When we got here there were already 7 cars in the parking spots. Quite a popular little place and we could definitely see why!
We waited for some people to leave before getting 10mins of solidarity time at the arch. It was so worth it! Thankyou for this earthcache it is very deserving of the favourite point.

A wonderful location A fav point from us
I’ve wanted to come to Tasmania for ever, it’s always just been too expensive to bring our 4wd and van over, nearly 2.5k just for the boat (return) that $ always seemed to be have been better off spent ‘up the road’ on the big island for a few weeks rather than coming over. Anyway when plans were made to do a Big Lap we knew that it must respectfully include a lap of the little Island as well.
Having sold our hobby farm and put all of our possessions into storage here you have us, on the road wild and free in Tasmania.

Sorry for the generic log, but time, data and reception (gosh Tassy has spasmodic reception) are all factors in the decision to use a copy and paste log, we will always endeavour to leave a photo or two with each log and always leave a favourite point and unique comment(S) where applicable for the truly outstanding caches.
Earth, Virtual, Letterbox, Handmade and Gadget caches are always at the top of the list for us to find.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.

Out for a day trip with friends around the Tarkine area.
This is our first stop.
Enjoyed the walk through the forest and came to this amazing structure! The sinkhole was quite a bit fuller than in the cache notes picture and covered in a green layer of algae/weed?. Made it quite picturesque.
Gets a fav point.

What a fantastic hidden gem this place is. I'd seen some photos of the arch before but none have done it justice. The changing light on the rock and water kept making the area look different. It was truly mesmerizing!
The pool was covered in duck weed (??) and I said to a lady there 'I so want to throw a stone in'. She laughed and said she had wanted to as well but didn't want to ruin my experience. So I did, but the little hole I made was covered up quickly again. It was satisfying but uneventful. I'm not sure what I was expecting, perhaps some mythical creature rising from the depths complaining at my antics?

Thanks Tassie Trekkers for bringing me here, a favourite point for this magical place.

This was one of those caches I have been meaning to do for a long time, I got close once before but never made it to GZ that day, today we parked up and didn't see too many cars so that was a good sign that it wouldn't be busy and we were correct upon getting to GZ after the wow moment we found that there were only four people at the arch today.

We investigated this side of the arch, taking a few pictures, waiting for a woman to move out of the way took a bit of time mind you, I walked up the right behind some rocks and found a way to a spot where you can look down on the pool, with the sunlight the water almost glowed due to the green algae??? or whatever it was, I started taking some more pictures of the perfectly flat surface when some joker started throwing rocks in the water [:(!] I got the shots I wanted in the end and really enjoyed my visit here today.

DaryVafder had mentioned this location to me not to long ago, so it was a must today, it really did rip off the tarkine drive, made the short walk down to this arch and not a another person insight, could sit and relax here for ages. Fav point added

Today I set off to do the tarkine drive and find the caches within in the area. Set off from home at 5am and covered just over 800km for 38finds plus 5 labs. An amazing area that a lot of people need to visit.

Thanks for the cache

Today, it's the 6th day of my trip in Australia and in Tasmania.

It's long road trip today. I leave from Launceston this morning, I visit the nord coast until the east and come back to Somerset.
On my road, I visit Penguin, Harbour Neach, Stantley, The nut, The edge of the world, Trowutta Arch and finish by Burnie.

I was a little bit exhausted when I arrived here after the long road.
Wow an amazing discovered here Very Happy. I didn't regret to take a detour from coming here.
It worst the case. One of the biggest surprise for me in Tasmania.

An amazing location and it was great to finish off the Tarkine Drive with a highlight like this! As others have said, it's that 'wow' factor of seeing it when it comes into vision that sticks in your memory. It reminded us of the similar experience when you first see the natural arch in springbrook.
Enjoyed reading about the geology and answers have been sent. TFTEC!

With a bit of time off and a chance to get away from Sydney was what I needed TeamMerlin was also free at the time. So Tasmania seemed to be a good place to spend about a week. It has been a while since I last went when I was there for photography and before I knew about Geocaching. We found a lot of nice caches including one of the oldest caches which was a Hide month I was missing. A lot of puzzles had been solved either before we went down or the night before between us. While here we also visited a lot of EarthCache and learnt a lot more about what makes up Tasmania. Stopped nearby so headed a bit further to this EarthCache got the required information and teamMerlin sent it in and now logging with permission. Nice spot may not have stopped here without the prod

Thanks for bringing me to the area and giving us something different to learn Tassie Trekkers

A lovely spot to stop during our exploration of the area.
A nice Earthcache on an exploratory walk around the Tarkine Tourist route in some typical rainforest weather.
A pleasant spot to stop for a lunch break too. And by the way this place is really worthy of a visit as it appears that not many people realize that it has been opened up again after the fires of 2016.

Staying at Port Sorrell, we headed off with our picnic hoping to find some EC’s in the Tarkine. We really weren’t expecting such spectacular walking tracks and beautiful forests after driving thru farmland and nearby plantations. The walk in to the Arch was an easy walk and then suddenly we were there. Wow. Just so stunningly beautiful. We are so glad we committed to the almost 3 hour drive. It was well worth it! Thanks so much for highlighting this area with an EC. A favourite point from us.

Tassie Trip Day 33 - Today was a great day for the Tarkine dirve so we started at the final location as the weather was good and the first half being in the forset and at hieight. So the trip started with a cache close to town and then on our way to the main drive area.

This was a lovely walk however it was not what I would have called an easy walk as the more disabled member could not access this wonderful place to see the sights for herself but alas those steps. However there was a nice algie covered water pool at the base of this wonderful what I would presume as a natural arch.

Thanks Tassie Trekkers for showing us this wonerful formation.

We came to take photos, and then thought, there is bound to be an earthcache here. So we thought about the questions we would ask if we were preparing the cache, took careful note of the features, and managed to get them right! What a special place and absolutely ideal for an earthcache. We loved this spot.

Day Two of our holiday in Tassie. Bettyboo3747 and I are staying in Stanley.
Today we drove to the West coast and admired the views (and blew away a few cobwebs!), and did a few caches. We then had a bit of a look at the Tarkine.
Hmm..sinkholes! Where is my dive gear?
The first hole looked quite clear, but the second was full of duck-weed.
Are you allowed to dive here?
We really enjoyed the walk in through the forest (took lots of photos), and the arch was well worth the walk.
BB will forward the answers to your questions soon.
Thanks, Robmc.

#14274. Day 2 of our 3 week Tasmanian trip and we are staying at Stanley. Today it was time for Robmc and me to head westwards for some sight-seeing and picking up of random caches along the way. Once again we are noticing cache maintenance is not something that seems to happen too often in this part of the State.

A favourite point for bringing us here. We most certainly enjoyed the walk in to GZ and we both took a lot of photos. A gorgeous place. We will forward our answers as soon as possible. Answers have been sent and approval to log given.

Thanks Tassie Trekkers

I was wondering why,
as I drove through the forest,
why there was an arch out here ?? Razz

It's on the tourist trail,
which not too many tourists seem to follow Smile
So it must be worth seeing ??

An Earthcache at the site meant it was definitely worth seeing Smile
So off I strolled from the carpark.
Ooooh !! So green, so shady Smile

The stroll took a decidedly downhill twist as I approached GZ.
Well there's something you don't see every day Smile
An arch in the middle of a forest !! Big Grin

Well this spot went straight into me top ten Earthcache sites,
for pure amazement value.
This is indeed a rare place [^]

As the oohing and ahhing subsided,
I got down to the nitty gritty of trying to answer the questions.
Hmmm !! Thinking hat time Big Grin

Dem rocks are mighty unusual lookin' !!
And after a goodly 15 minutes of feeling like the sky could fall on me head,
I trundled back up to safer ground Big Grin

Answers thought out,
answers sent,
and back off up the path I went Smile

TFTEC,
a big fave dance for this one !!

An interesting place for sure. This time I learnt something of the area.
Thanks for the earthcache!

Hi there Tassie Trekkers.

We found your cache **"What an Arch"** at 2:53:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 18451).

Today we cached around North West Tasmania and found 13 caches in a variety of container types and sizes (& DNF'd 1). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

The Trowutta Arch is a magical place and one of our top three locations in Tasmania. We love to visit because of its beauty and the variability in what we find. Although it has taken a while to get back after this cache was published, we have been really looking forward to the visit. Answers to the questions were forwarded to the COs and approval to log has been received. A photo of Mrs y'stassie at the Trowutta Arch has been appended to this log. Thanks Tassie Trekkers for a great Earthcache - it earns a favourite from us because it is a natural wonder.

Thoroughly enjoyed another visit to this delightful rain-forest walk through to the amazing Arch, discovered courtesy of a GCA cache some years ago. It was quite a hidden secret then but is now well signposted and a better track in, although very tricky in parts as it was very wet underfoot.
Answers sent to the CO, hopefully ok.
Many thanks for the Earthcache Tassie Trekkers.
