Hi MacPacFamily
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Out for the day to Akaroa with Geo Cache friends. Stopped here to enjoy the view and look for the cache. Four of us looked for quite a while and friends had previously found it. But alas no where to be found, only realised after that so many before us not found it either. Pitty as awesome place to stop.
Came back on a colder windier day with the tourists inside. No obvious cache anywhere around GZ that I could find including places I didnt look last time Maintenance required?
Had a couple of decent searches on two occasions between fleets of tourists but no luck for me.
Double decker bus bought us here, but too many muggle for us to have decent look. Disappointed.

Thanks for creating this geocache. I decided it was gone and came with a replacement.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

Stopped here on a fine clear morning leaving Akaroa after being there all week. Had hoped that it would be my farewell cache for this part of the country but could not find it. Had another look after a bus load of tourists came and went. I note it has not been seen for a while.
Found it on the way to drop NZ Gecko back at work (YMCA Wainui). 7.15pm on a Sunday in winter isn't the best time for a view, other than a few lights across the harbour. It *is* a good time to have the carpark to yourself though - a closed pub, darkness, and light rain to keep the muggles away!
This was a surprisingly easy find for such a busy spot.

To keep up with my personal challenge of achieving a minimum of 10 caches finds per day I needed to find 8 caches today. After perusing a map of my unfounds it seemed that utilising the cachemobile for a trip to Akaroa would be the best bet to get the necessary caches. Chance also to have a Fish and Chip lunch too. [^]
Yea! I had the car park to myself this morning (10:30am), Even so it took me a while to home in on the cache - my gps was insisting it was somewhere else![xx(] TFTC MacPacFamily. That makes 3 caches in the bag, 5 to go.

Found it on a honeymoon trip with the hubby on our way out of Akaroa... what a view! Tftc
Was lying on the ground. Gosh the temperature has dropped this afternoon! Great view, a little hazy. TFTC
Found after a search not quite where expected but the Penny did finally drop. TFTC. Found on our tour of South island from UK.
Now this was an interesting excercise! Only a mere 4 cars all sightseeing and looking at us feeling all the "furniture". I said to Jude "View" and we found it quickly. Signed sealed and shoelaced up. TFTH and a Beautiful day it was too.
Parked up at gz with a bunch of tourists. Penny dropped when Penny said "view!". A sudden need to the shoelaces worked well. Tftc.
CO needs to log a maintenance performed log to remove the disabled status of the cache.
This cache does not need to be marked as unavailable.
As GH6710 noted, the log book has been replaced.
I found the cache in a location that matched the hint.
The owner may want to check that everything here is as he desires, but there is a cache with a good log to find here.

The owner may want to check that everything here is as he desires, but there is a cache with a good log to find here.
It didn't take too long to find this, although we wondered if it was in the correct place, as the hint wasn't helpful, and the camouflage was inconsistent with the hiding place. TFTC
The second disabled cache I've found today... all good here, albeit a bit obvious... great view ... Late in the day so not many people... getting a bit too blustery though. GLB1721 TFTC (4126)
We stopped by the Tavern for dinner on the way to Le Bons Bay, and I was a little disappointed to see that the cache was disabled. However, I noticed there were recent finds, and I read the logs. Noted that all is well here, and promptly found the cache. Lovely views indeed, TFTC!
I've had a couple of looks for this one in the past. Finally got it today. Removed the temporary red phone cache by the hilltop sign that is mentioned by a cacher with one find. Replaced the log and plastic bag. All good to go. TFTC
Visiting from Brisbane with Slow Puncture for the Oamaru Geofest, and we're seeing all the wonderful sights the South Island has to offer as we travel along. Day 6: An early start as we ventured out of Christchurch towards the mesmerisingly beautiful l hills lakes and coastline of the Banks Peninsula before heading back to the airport to catch our flight home. It's fair to say I've never taken so many photos in a single area in ny life than I took around here, the scenery is breathtaking!
Stunning views here, deserving of an FP.

Wednesday. Slow Puncture has teamed up with Orange Crew to make a Moreton Bay assault on the Oamaru Geofest. Day Six saw us travel from Christchurch out to the East for some sightseeing (absolutely stunning scenery) and caching before returning to the Airport and heading home for Brisbane. Stunning, STUNNING views! I imagine they would be even better in the afternoon with the sun behind you.
This was the 8th of 18 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***MacPacFamily***, for showing us this place.

TFTC SL Easy find. However the log book needs replacing. All ripped into small pieces, as people would have trouble getting it out of the container. It is also very damp. Sorry but this is how I found it. Didn't have a replacement log to add to it. fantastic view as always.
Couldn't find original Geo created a new one at main Hilltop sign. HINT : Its red and protected by a plant...
Couldn't find where it was thought someone might have taken it created new one at Hilltop sign
There was a car with muggles parked nearby but they weren't didn't look our way so we could happily make the find. Found with debsnz

#14297. Muggles a few metres away made searching tricky, but I soon spotted the cache, and retrieving it unobserved was straightforward. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on a weekend trip to Akaroa, our first visit in over 7 years.
While I was getting wet knees looking for the cache, SW remained dry and found it . Pretty sure we have found a cache here before, but pleased there is a reason to stop and admire the view. TFTC.

Walking from Diamond Harbour to the Hilltop via along the Te Ara Pataka. Stopped here for pizza, very nice! TFTC!
On the way over to Wainui for four days of possum control and this was a good place to stop and let the cars go past (she's a slow grind up the hill with a quad on the trailer). Lovely views down the bay, cheers.
Had a job to do over the peninsula and decided to take the rest of the day off and do some caching. This was the third find of the day and was a quick easy find despite the activity. Not yet lunch time so left the pizza for another day.
After driving down the bottom, or up the top of the hills of the Peninsula, we were in dire need of food and drink. We hoped that the name of this cache was going to give us what we needed. Thank the stars. What an amazing place, even in the dark. The cache was found and returned super quick before we headed in out of the rain for sustenance. TFTC
Thank you so much for bring us to this wonderful location.

Got a txt from TG,
"What are you up to, now"
"Reading a book, but that can wait!"
"See you in 5"
And so we started our nighttime mission to the Akaroa Heads lighthouse and beyond. A fun night of walking caching and having a great time.
We were surprised when the sign lit up so we could read it at night. Searched first where TG found it with no luck. Then we sread out a bit for a straightforward find. 11pm is a nice time to grab this one. I've been passed a few times but theere have always been too many tourists about! Cheers.
Thanks to all of the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Home for the Easter holidays. Quick one after lunch and farewell to family before heading home.
We decided to head over to the Peninsula with daughter for a bit of caching for the day. It was really windy!! In some spots, it felt like we are going to be blown away. Luckily, we were only blown away by the fun we were having!! Great day, and a big thank you to all the CO for placing and maintaining the caches along our route!!!

I hadn't had a propper big geocaching day since probably before the baby was born - somehow Bethany doesn't seem to enjoy geocaching as much as I do! It's always slower with nowhere near as many finds!! So a plan was hatched to get my fix - mum and I would go out caching, and baby would have some daddy bonding time!! Haha! However even though this plan was hatched at the beginning of the year, it's taken us till April to execute as mum is always busy!
So finally today was the day. A bit of a late start, and we had to be home before dinner, but still managed to get 46 caches! A few DNF, but heaps of kms travelled! Nice to make some steps towards clearing a little more of my closest 80km to home PQ out!
Second last one for the day - it was getting quite late and dark and we needed to get back home!!
TFTC!!

On the way back to ChCh from Pigeon Bay. Stopped only for the hilltop cache but after finding that I realized that this is in a very walkable distance, so we took a little stroll to find this one as well.
No pizza for us today and no view either, only the picture of it. Fog all around.
Thanks for the cache!

We pulled in for a view of some pizza, but couldn't see any. Probably hidden by all the muggles who were stopped here. Views of Akaroa were awesome though.
Took a while to wait for an opportunity to grab the cache, then went to the car to sign the log. Surprisingly there was a good gap between muggles for the return.
Thanks for putting this here MacPacfamily

Yes and what a view! Our first visit to Akaroa and we have had a great day. Soon found this one. Greetings from the UK. TFTC #7119
Our New Zealand vacancy started at Christchurch. On our arrivalday we reached our hotel at 6 pm and after an journey of ca. 33 hours (incl. the time to travel to the airport etc.) we were to tired to do anything. Nevertheless we go in direction of the nearby park in town to walk a little after only sitting and standing all the time. But because three tries to find a cache were'nt successfull we went back and go sleeping.
Today we had booked a whalewatching-tour so we had to drive up to Kaikoura. But because of the earthquake damages our whalewatching should take place at 6 pm. So we had much time to go south to Akaroa.
On our way we watched for easy to reach and easy to find caches. This one is the first we stopped and find.
Thank you for the nice view and the cache.
greetings from now in queenstown resting

We went to NZ for six weeks and did some geocaching on the way
We started exploring in Christchurch. What an exciting city, we loved it! The ReStart Market, the food trucks, the people, awesome city! After CHCH we went south. Dunedin and the pinguins were great! We went to Stewart Island and even Ulva Island to see some birds and find a geocache down south. From there we went to the North. Doubtfulsound was beautiful and sunny, Lake Wanaka wonderful! Abel Tasmantrack is an awesome hike, i can recommend it to all geocachers. The North Island was also a succes. Rotorua and the Vulcano's, wow! Napier, Tongariro Crossing, Ohopi Beach, White Island, big Kauri trees, Cape Reinga, the Bay of Islands... it was all fantastic.
We did love travelling and camping in NZ.
Wow. What a view! Fantastic. Nice hidden, found easily,

Begins our holiday in NZ in Christchurch, we came from Italy to find our son who lives there for two years.
Long trip, but surprisingly we arrived there very tired, almost two days and two nights without sleep, but it took just 24 hours we got used to the new day.
We begin to visit a very famous place Akaroa, we will do the road of the hill to admire the scenery.
This is our first cache of this holiday, together with us, also a friend of our son, let him look for the cache.
Parking very close to a viewpoint, a few tens of meters and find our first treasure.

We have found this cache totally by chance. We didn't search for it, we didn't have it downloaded, we didn't even know it was there. We just stopped for the view and when we read the information about what we see, the youngest teammemer just got it.
And because there was a nice penguin for trade and we didn't have anything to trade it for, we had to buy a little souvenir in Akaroa and stop at the cache again on our way back.
The cache found, the penguin acquired, the view beautiful, everything OK. Thanks for the cache.

Great view! A few muggles around but easy when they are distracted by food and the view.
Team JeJeBuK - Injeanious, jess.daphne, the Burnsy, and our muggle friend Kurt - decided to go on a New Years excursion to Akaroa. We had a great trip and managed to pick up a few caches on the way. There sure was a good view from here. I was convinced it was hidden in one hint like place, but alas it was not. JD found it elsewhere. Tftc.

Ok stop. Great views here. TFTC. Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 3: Akaroa to Akaroa.
I never been to Akaroa before, and today the dragon and I have a full day's exploring. A quick stop here on the way into town. Found the cache exactly where we expected it would be. The log needs replacing. Odd this is that we didn't replace it ourselves - the dragon must have done over 50 cache maintenance on this trip, with at least 30 log replacements/upgrades.

Glad it wasn't too far from Hilltop Cafe as I was very full after a delicious pizza.
Out with Team Bisley eating pizza and caching in this area. First cache of the day here and what a great spot!
Was waiting here for about an hour for Mr Sharpe to finish his big 50km run. Phone wasn't working properly so after a bit of lunch and play at the Hill Top Tavern, and after speaking to Spark to get the phone working, which they did, we were then able to load all the geocaches. And there was a cache right there!! Beside the car even!! So a quick find, signed the log book and set off to Okains Bay for the night. Stunning view today!
