Back over from NZ to attend the GCLogan events over the coming week. Day zero today and after attending an event not too far away, decided to head over to Karawatha and search for the dozen or so caches here that I haven't yet found. After finding the Queens Land anniversary caches with a group from the event, I bid them farewell and continued on along the trails. This one was a nice quick find in the most logical place. Seems like quite a few people visit the off limits quarry lake nearby... TFTC
Out to find another cache for July challenge and collecting others around. Easy find and left an aeroplane . TFTC
Nice spot after coming from a J. Surprised to the water in the dam and how pretty it looked.#844______________________________Having woke up on my first day off and the sun was trying to break through.. I though I would head out to Karawatha Forest for some caches today.Total ride: 3:05:21. Completed 23 caches.Totaling 16.87km ride distance.Great day out before the sun decided to head back undercover.
Quick find after a nice stroll through the park. A bit unfortunate that the area's beauty has been somewhat spoiled by huge signs (heavily graffitied and damaged) warning people not to enter the quarry, plus all the totally ineffective but ugly barricades that have been put up. Thanks for the cache all the same. So grateful to all those who put them out there for us.
Came to the area to grab the old Queens Land cache. Went for a run up the track to grab a few more and quickly grabbed this one on the way. Cool quarry nearby Tftc.
Our last visit to Karawatha Forest on this trip, to find the few remaining caches in these beautiful parklands...Interesting old quarry nearby, enjoyed this section of the park, TFTC teamdfl
Out for the morning with nikid1 & Que Sera in search of a couple of target caches & whatever else we come across. I really enjoyed our walk through the area & the quarry water looked very inviting. The cache was found open & empty but luckily nikid1 was the girl scout & had a spare log & swaps to add to the container. Thanks for the cache teamdfl
Nikid1, KerriMG and i found this cache empty and luckily Nikid1 had a spare log book and even some swaps so all good to go here.We enjoyed a nice walk around these parts finding a few target caches. This one was on our way. We did discussed how it would be nice to ride our bikes around but of course you would not want to loose your grip. We also checked out the quarry nearby and did a bit of CITO .Thanks for all the fun
GC6E6AC FBG go bush - Get a GripOut for a lovely walk with KerriMG and Que Sera. Didnt take long to find the cache but it was empty. Luckily I had some supplies with me. So we signed a replacement log and left a few swaps. TFTC teamdfl
Not sure what has happened between the last find and today but I found what I assume is the cache open on the ground with no contents. See photo. Some muggles immediately arrived after me and were obviously going to have a swim despite the signage so I made a stealthy departure.
Apologies for the late log here (12.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Another quickie on my way to the local Virtual, but this had me zigging and zagging under the trees a bit. Signal wasn't totally happy today. I liked the location anyway TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
With my personal challenges and the current HQ challenge I set off to the Southside to grab a few caches. The only place where I knew I had a virtual was in Karawatha state forest. The funny thing is there is also an earth cache not far from it, this meant I could finish of my HQ challenge.
A parked up and jumped on the bike and raced around the trails. I was collecting any others as I went past, my targets and the important ones were the Virtual and Earth cache.
This was one of those I did as I went by.
I signed the log, replaced all as found and then continued on. Thanks for the placement of this cache.

A friend was having a surprise milestone birthday party and a trip to Brisbane was required to attend.
After accidentally (on purpose), booking my flights a few days earlier, it was time to do some pre party caching around town.
After a late night last night, today was a little more laid back exploring some targeted caches around Brisbane and beyond.
The cache was full of water but as the log bag was sealed the log was only slightly damp. Water emptied and dried as best I could.
Thanks teamdfl for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

We found the other FBG go bush cache a few years ago when I was in Karawatha with the kids. Today it’s just me and the hills and the geocaches. Thanks teamdfl for another great cache!
A free day off work so have tee’d up Peppa to do some random caching on the south side.
This was my second visit to Karawartha, the first time it was a flat walk, not the case today, we found some hills on our walk around today.
We were pretty much passing this one on our way back so stopped in and signed the log. The mine dam was a little overflowing today.

Certainly got a good grip on this one.
We had an excellent day today walking the Karawatha Forest. A 35C day was nothing for us WA peeps. Managed 8.5kms of walking and even saw the police boat and divers in the quarry lake.
The aim was for only three caches, the oldest, a letterbox wander and the highest virtual. We managed to find a few more along the way too!
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights.
teamdfl, I found FBG go bush - Get a Grip today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

LLJ would not let me go home until we found this one too, after just finding Queens-land 20th anniversary. Having been here some weeks ago on the electric wheely walker I did notice the grade of the hills when on foot. However, we quickly arrived at GZ and found the cache. No swaps here today. The water level in the quarry seems to be a bit higher than usual. Maybe there has been rain, although the catchment area is not all that big. TFTC, teamdfl.
Walking up to the nearby earth cache,we stopped to check out the quarry, couldn't leave without doing this cache.. Thanks for bringing us here . Cache was a little damp,
Found but unfortunately full of water. Cleaned up as good as we can and left plenty of treasures
Having heard plenty about the quarry here, I was happy to make this cache our target for today. After a short-ish hike from the main car park, we found a way off the main path to the southern end of the quarry. We had a quick look around, pretty amazing views, and we'd love to come back.
Another shorter hike led us to GZ. The area appears to have been recently resurfaced and mulched.
The cache was fairly quickly spotted - I appreciate the added handle to the top!

In Karawatha forest this morning taking the dog for a walk and spotted this cache on the way down the hill from the virtual cache. A lot of people out this morning taking advantage of a sunny day. Navigated my way through the trails and across the ditch and followed the track along the quarry fence. Came across a newly cleared area and headed off track to find the cache. Container was found quickly and log book was signed. All is good with this cache. Replaced everything and carried on. Thanks very much for the cache placement team dfl. Cheers.
Coming down from the nearby Virtual, this was last Traditional cache in Karawatha so it was a must find…
I hadn’t read previous logs, but had seen the signs so was surprised when approaching the quarry to hear raised voices… and then to spot multiple groups enjoying the water… quite the secret…
Found cache with no issue once I stopped looking at the phone… tftc…

After traipsing around the bush all morning this was a very welcome surprise. Pity the fence is there, but it hasn't stopped the area from becoming a popular swimming spot.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
My 4th trip to Karawatha Forest to collect caches. Only 1 more to go after this visit to find a solitary cache that is a bit separated from all the others. Hopefully it is not too long until I have a smiley for it too. TFTC
Today, the plan was mountain biking around Karawatha Forest in Logan, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of geocache *Queens Land* with a scheduled community celebration event. After attending the morning photograph and cake session, I headed out west following the Ironbark Circuit. I then proceeded in a general anti-clockwise direction visiting lat&long junkie's favourite spot / virtual cache, and then riding south on Casuarina Trail, passing the quarry lake along the way. I then rode along the Maculata Trail, completing the Holden series (HS) trail. It was well past lunchtime by the time I finished riding approximately 30 km in distance, and after making a stop in the Kuraby Bushlands, I then found a few oldie geocaches in Karawatha Forest West. I closed out the day with a late lunch stop and a couple of geocaches in nearby Jack Pyle Park.
I was really surprised to see the very scenic and tantalising quarry lake nearby! There were a few small groups taking the opportunity to swim also, so locals must obviously ignore the signs (with some even jumping from the cliffs). It's a shame that they don't make it more friendlier and then make it safe / condone swimming, but I guess that just places too much liability with the council.
Anyway, back to this cache, I followed a nice little trail that followed the fence line, and then after stashing my bike, I took the short walk to GZ where the cache was a quick find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks teamdfl for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

With nice blue skies today I decided to venture out to grab a few caches with the geopup in tow. After a lovely walk around the quarry we set off to GZ. A quick find was made here, the container has seen better days with a hole in the lid and a few cracks however the log and contents were nice and dry. Tftc teamdfl
Mega day chasing 12 types day. From the Gold Coast to Dayboro and in between.

Second find today. Shoes are a lite wet from my previous log. Seems like I have to change them for dinner tonight.
I took a Mountain Bike ride through this area a couple of months back, first time I’d ridden here. My MTB mates don’t cache so stopping to pick up little boxes and sign logs is not an option as catching up is just not on. Looking back at old logs it seems the last time I cached here was for the Queensland 10 years Event. Wow, now another 10 years has passed.
Today after a FB post on my intended ride I was joined by Triple Turmoil as my victim for the day. I do like making people suffer while they are out on a bike ride. Tripe T showed she was up to the challenge and we had a fun day out exploring the trails in the area. Mind there were some we ventured along that even I will not ride back there again.
After following the CO's track logs back across from the Earthcache and then a little diversion down from the MailBox cache ( well above my skills set) it was great to be back on some well forms trails ( at least for now). What a great location.

Met with Ruzzelz for the first time for a ride around this forest, collecting caches. I didn't really think I was in for a ride as hard as it was. So many hills, big hills...up and down!! But I made it and we found plenty of caches along the way. Caching is all about getting out of your comfort zone, with some fun and laughs along the way.
Easy to spot. Once the cache was retrieved from its resting spot, the name of the cache made perfect sense.

First time over the Southside since the bug was out. Enjoying these walks. Passed 3 teenagers. Wonder where they have been. Then I saw the hole in the gate to the quarry. They had been swimming in the water. Headed on to the cache which was a quick find. Reminded me of the CO. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks teamdfl. All good with this cache.
exploring the new neighbourhood area. this one got away on first visit so thought i’d grab this one while exploring
I had several target caches that I was after and most of those were caches to finish off the JULY Challenge. As of today I still needed a J, U and and Y and since I'm running out of caches where I am, I decided to head over to the dark side of town to an area that had all those letters that I needed.
The day consisted of 6 different cache types (Wherigo, Traditional, Earthcache, Letterbox, Virtual and Mystery) with plenty of time spent driving around and around and around Slacks Creek, then off to Karawatha Forest to weave in and out of the many different trails this place has to offer, but be careful, if you're not paying attention to where you're going you could easily get lost, plus it was my first time here, so I didn't know what to expect. While on my travels between caches I also picked up a few traditionals and even an Earthcache that I pass every Wednesday for work, so it was nice to finally grab that one while I could.
Thank you for bringing me to all these locations, many of them I've never visited before, so thanks. All in all it was a stunning, but rather warm day here on the southside of Brisbane.
Quick find while I'm heading up to do Junkies. What an interesting spot this is. Even though the quarry is fenced off I still saw people inside the fenced off area.

I didn’t expect to come across such a fantastic location out here.
Came at this one the long way so I got a great view of the water. A fast find once at GZ! Can’t believe this cache has no favourite points. I’m glad to give it one!

Grabbed this one with the geokid and a few others, while we were out and about in Karawatha forest. Great company and great little cache. Really enjoyed the views from GZ of the pale blue lake - how amazing! Thanks for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Quick TB visit.
Quick easy find with 7 other cachers plus the CO on the way to a virtual, multi (final) letterbox and Earthcache.
The blue water in the distance looked very inviting!
TFTC teamdfl. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

I spent the last two afternoons in the Karawatha Forest to visit the geocaches hidden here around. First time beeing here I was fully concentrated to get the 2k geocache only. Now it was time for the remaining stashes. Few of them seem to be muggles (dnf was logged there). All the rest could be located and the logbooks signed.
Many thanks to all the owners for hiding and maintenance on their caches!

I wasn't too sure about getting to this one. Further along the track, I saw a sign that said the quarry lake and surrounding area is out of bounds, with trespassers risking prosecution! So how close to the lake exactly is "surrounding area"? The sign seemed very ambiguous, so I cautiously walked to GZ from the virtual cache. I saw the lake had a fence around it, which put me at ease a bit. Some youths were enjoying the water on this 34°C day! Can't say I blame 'em really, I was quite jealous.
At GZ I saw a lace monitor dragging a dead flying fox through the bush! How fascinating!! I haven't seen a lacie yet. I edged my way closer and closer - closer than any sensible Australian would go. Eventually I got to within a metre of the animal, and took some amazing photos and videos. I was completely in awe, and the lacie didn't seem to give a care in the world that I was right next to it.
Anyway, the cache. The lid was off, and the cammo was only partially covering the cache. Contents was thankfully dry. Signed my name and put everything back to how it should be. TFTC.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a long walk around Karawatha Park, starting at Woodridge Station and ending up many hours and kms later at Fruitgrove station, just in the nick of time to catch the half hourly train back to the CBD.
We accessed this cache via the Swamp Box track, despite signs saying no entry. We thought that there was no danger tangling with trucks, machinery etc on a Sunday, and we were right as we didn't see anyone in the vicinity. I overshot GZ, then looked in the wrong place despite the hiding place being rather obvious. Luckily SW was on the ball. TFTC.

#17281. Luckily it was a Sunday and there was no sign of any workers or heavy machinery, so we scuttled quickly across the large open area, and emerged from it less than 100m from GZ. Cache was easily spotted on approach. TFTC.

Loaded the bike and set course for Karawatha forest this morning.
Enjoyed the ride around and picking up a few caches along the way.
A few walkers and mountain bikers but mostly just me and the bush.
Doing a loop, this became a bit of a dent in the loop-
Disappointed that the quarry was fenced off
Thanks for this cache

As we approached GZ we came across a lovely long carpet python slowly making its way past the cache. We waited till it had passed and then checked out the spor. The cache had a bit of water in it but the logbook was nice and dry.
Lovely blue colour of the lake today even though it’s very overcast.
Thanks for this cache Teamdfl.

Getting close to GZ my son commented on the colour of the reeds growing below. I had no idea what he was talking about. Being colour blind means that you can’t see some things like colour (obviously), people green with envy, people going red in the face, and your credit card statements after your wife has gone out on the turps. Cocktails aren’t free apparently!
I did get down low and spied a suspicious couple of rocks. I directed my son to the spot but it must not have looked obvious because he was standing on the cache and still couldn’t see it. What’s the point of seeing colours if you can’t even notice the colour of plastic?
The cache was full of water but the log was OK in its baggy. I tipped the water out and ran through the post-ritual checklist of trying to determine the vintage of the water. It was definitely mid-skank with voluptuous tannins with the odd hint of day old fart. One of the best wet caches I’ve encountered in a while to tell the truth. tftc

Well it wasn’t quiet in the park today, lots of people walking dogs, running and swimming at the quarry. The water did look inviting and was a beautiful blue, obviously too tempting for many who clearly ignored plethora of keep out signs! We enjoyed our walk & picked up a few smiles too- winning! I’m introducing my niece to caching today. She likes walking in the bush and I had some target caches in the area, so we headed down to the ‘dark side’. It was a perfect day for walking and we soon found ourselves at GZ. I had no idea there was a quarry and lake here, I’m wondering whether the water is such a turquoise colour because of high levels of calcium in the water - it’s a bit like water I’ve seen in the Gorges du Verdon area in France. But I digress.... My niece had no trouble spotting the cache’s hiding spot and soon had a container in her hands. TFTC teamdfl

What an amazing place quite a beautiful lake here which could be well served as a place of public interest. Obviously never going to happen because some believe that state forests should be left natural. Humans not allowed especially if you look at the police signage on the way in

Wednesday. Mr SP was over at no1scotty's place today and talked him into getting some caches. We found our way to this cache by way of the Casuarine Track, and then the Swamp Box Track. As scotty alluded to, there is some bizarrely-placed police signage on Swamp Box Track suggesting our presence was verboten. We assumed they must be referring to illegal swimming in the quarry and trail bike riding, so on we pressed. Tell yo uone other thing, Junior, we weren't going back and finding another way! Not being this close! [xx(]
We found our way to GZ and after a bit of a search, I contunued scotty's caching education with a tactful "what looks out of place here?" question. The penny dropped. Nice new replacement logbook which now has two names in it. Got confused when logging this via GSAK as I was looking for the name which didn't exist, but the CG Code satisfied that, and the CO's mainteance log explained it away!
This was the 2nd of 4 caches found on today's trip. Saw no Fat Bottomed Girls on this trip, or any girls, for that matter. Saw a couple of guys puffing away on the bikes and I thought "I bet you're glad this isn't January...".
Thanks ***teamdfl***, for showing us this place.

Today we decided to visit Karawatha and find the new Virtual which finishes my "Spell JULY in July" Challenge nicely. Then continued on to find this cache which has been taunting me every time I look at my map.
Only about 1klm from the other cache and after a search around the area, found this cache now under some rocks.
Cache and log is very wet.
Removed plastic bags, dried out the cache and contents. Replaced the logbook and covered the cache well in same location as found approx 6m from GZ.
Will send CO a message with photos.

Thnks for the cache!! Found it stashed under some rocks, looks like the zip ties have been cut, and the log is very wet, this cache needs maintenence
With a free day, a plan was hatched to ride my new Merida around Karawatha, followed by a few hours touring around the suburbs of Logan.
Heading tp GZ there were several dump trucks piling up lots of mulch and a water truck wetting down the road. I was undeterred and pressed on. At GZ, the container wasn't where I expected, it seems the zipties have let go and it had come to rest in an awkward place partway down the slope. I returned it to a likely spot with some rocks for cover.
Thanks for the hunt **teamdfl**, this find makes #4154. Discover our TB

Out and about with the Bromanceketeers (and the Bromance was tagging along too) on our way to discover IT. Was passing near by so we made a quick detour to look for this one.
Found in good order. Thanks for the cache TeamDFL!

Group wander around here this morning. SeffnJarah found this one, whilst the rest of us wandered aimlessly.

We wandered around aimlessly getting to this one. Don't you love it when one person in the party decides NOT to tell everyone he has found it! Anyway, we ended up with a cache in hand!
At least one of us didn't have our eyes painted on this morning purely for decoration. After spotting the cache in its hiding spot I quietly retrieved the container while the rest of The Bromance and Bromanceketeers continued to scrabbled around in the bush looking. TFTC
