#14718 13:26A long day of geocaching on the West side of the Blue Mountains, from Mount Victoria to Bathurst. In the company of Brewmaker it was an enjoyable day.TFTC Becon4046 & Alwyn255
Some solving was done last night and this morning in anticipation of doing this loop on a particularly rainy Sunday before mothers day. Thankyou for placing and maintaining the cache and allowing me to discover a new area and some beautiful countryside.TFTCGeneric overly-detailed summation of the day:Weather report: cool, overcast and a fair amount of rain for all of our caching today.Caching conditions: minimal muggle activity, GPS satellites talking nicely to my phoneSnack situation: optimal: a piece of carrot cake from O'Connell cafe to get me by until dinner. Also a good street library here, picked up Pompeii by Thomas Harris to have a read of.Public toilet status: bush loo today.Munzee distractions: none today, kinda forgot about them.Weirdos encountered: just the caching company.Out Caching with: Irondale and Malfromthefarm
Catching up with late logs.We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and surrounds. We solved all the puzzles we could before we left home which was also an enjoyable part of this journey. We had a great time today doing a southerly loop picking up any caches that came up on the map finding all types of cache sizes and hides but unfortunately we have got behind in our logging and are trying to catch up now.We can no longer remember the caches individually so we apologize for the generic log, it's certainly not meant to take anything away from our experience, it's just the old minds just ain't what they used to be.We signed the logs as The Mob.Many thanks for adding this piece to the game board for our enjoyment.
Day 2 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today we did a lot of country driving, through nearby towns. The scenery was lovely with the trees turning a multitude of different colours for winter. All puzzles were solved before the trip. This is one of the caches we stopped to find along the way.A quick search and the cache was located, signed and replaced.A favourite point from us.Many thanks for placing this cache, Becon4046 & Alwyn255, for us and others to find.
A quick find here, cache is all goodHeaded over to the Capital GeoBash in Canberra, ACT with Freddo over 5 days, travelling through the central part of NSW before caching around the hinterlands. A nice few days over with great weather. Thanks for the cache
No trouble finding the cache hide. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Reperio 15:47Today I headed out towards Oberon, and with that came the chance to pick up a few caches, especially some of the TRLT series. Heading back towards Bathurst, I stopped by a few puzzles caches here, and this one was a nice drive by find. We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.
Today we will be continuing our travels on some more of "the roads less travelled" to collect some more of the TRLT cache series, and also any other caches we come across along the way, including numerous previously solved puzzle/mystery caches. Yesterday we travelled roads to the South of Oberon, and today we will be travelling North towards O'Connell, Tarana, and Meadow Flat. This was our 6th find of the day (day 7), and 135th find of the holiday.
The puzzle was solved at home, and a nice quick find at GZ. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. Thanks Becon4046 & Alwyn255 for the puzzle & cache.

With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild.
We hit the road early and resisted the urge to stop along way. We decided to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area. We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure.
Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Solved a few of the puzzles in the area before deciding to come on this weekend.
Thanks for the puzzle and hide Becon4046 & Alwyn255 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
Had a few solved puzzles around the area to collect, no issues with this one, solve or find.
Thanks for the hide becon4046 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

We are enabling our caches as travel is now allowed. Please remember that Covid-19 lives for up to 3 days on plastic surfaces. Keep yourself and others safe by using hand sanitiser or gloves.
We are shutting down our caches while the Coronavirus lock-down is in place. We want to protect every finder as current information indicates that the virus can linger on plastic surfaces for up to 9 days. Many caches are near people's homes and we cannot encourage anyone to spread this virus.
Stay safe and heed the doctors advice to stay home if you can.

O319 and I have headed off for 3 days of caching. Mainly targeting TRLT and "history of" caches.
Found with sjg66 on a three day TRLT and "History of" blitz. 220 caches over 1100kms. Lots of great scenery, but also lots of dust as it is all so dry out here at the moment. Thanks to all the CO's for hiding and maintaining these caches.
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Staying in Bathurst for two nights and our main day is made of two drives outside of Bathurst. Thanks to all the COs for placing the caches and showing us around your region.
Visiting the area after attending the Mega Event at Queanbeyan, we decided to do a day of caching. Doing a generic log de to the number found, however to all catchers, thank you for placing the caches . TFTC

It was time for a big weekend caching, so I was joined by Fitzy_1965 and MinnieK for two days to tackle the new TRLT caches just East of Bathurst, This part of the trip went smoothly. I also managed to squeeze in a few more on the day after whilst traveling between the rain on Monday.
After Fitzy and MinnieK had to go home, I spent the afternoon getting more of the caches in this region. A collection of puzzles near Oberon was the main target.
Thanks.

For these caches we teamed up with our NZ caching mates, mr & mrs chosen and granville86a who are the puzzle solvers and we are the go getters. The gps is nearly out of juice so getting interesting. Tftc
Headed up with nissan 65 for another dew days caching. Bit cooler today. Thanks for the cache

13064. Found during a run up through the Bathurst/Orange region with minniek.
We had pre-solved a lot of puzzles for this region so they were the main aim for the trip. Quite a number of nice Trads and Multis thrown in as well to make up a great weekend's caching ! This was the next stop for the day on the way up. What an interesting puzzle it was - and the series was a lot of fun to solve (mostly!) and find. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and it was off to the next one.
Thanks again becon4046 !

After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.
Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.
Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.
Day 2 of our caching trip and we were out on the roads again. We headed to Oberon and some of the back roads around Bathurst before getting a few more caches in Bathurst. By days end we’d put a good dint in our "beyond the Great Divide" so decided to head for home. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.
The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.
Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

This is a really great series of puzzles to try and solve. Haven't finished them yet but decided to find what we had the co-ordinates for along this road. All the co-ordinates were very accurate and we were able to park very close to the hides each time. All logs were duly signed and replaced as found. Thank you to becon4046 for some challenging puzzles which we hope to be able to complete some day.
This cache was actually found just lying out on the open, but before we left it was put back using some local camo for cover.

Wilbert67 and us have been planning an over night trip to Bathurst and pre solved many puzzles in preparation, we also picked up quite a few others along the way. We left early in the morning and we were hoping for better weather in light of all the rain we been having and good weather we had. We had an enjoyable day with only 4 DNF out of approximately 43. A big thanks to all the CO for making our trip enjoyable. TFTC.
On A weekender with J+J.AU, Goulburn, Oberon, Bathurst, Lithgow and back is our goal. Solved lots of puzzles as a preparation for this trip and happy to collect in on a lot of them. More eyes makes easier caching. Started with some fog and cold on Saturday morning, but the weather got better and better. Thanks for putting out all the caches!

#3567- Our son, NickoHeap is learning to drive, which requires that he get hours up on different types of roads in different conditions. He started driving here today, getting a variety of sealed and unsealed roads under his belt. And we grabbed this cache to start his drive. Thanks
We came out to this region to cache with Canary today. He had solved the caches beforehand which led me to wonder whether I would have been able to solve the puzzles myself if I had known earlier. Some I definitely could, others were a maybe and some I'm sure I would not. As for this one, this was so easy I could even do it. I used something like this on one of my own caches as a simple field puzzle.
An easy find like most caches in this series. From this point we put our youngest son, NickoHeap, into the driver's seat. He'd finished reading a chapter of a book for school and he was now ready to get some country driving under his belt in pursuit of his P plate licence next January. Thanks

This one looked easy but evince said no! Thankfully the owner fixed up some problems and the right solution was obtained.

I've just realised that my log for this was a bit confused. It was actually quite an easy find after working out the co-ords. Thanks becon & Alwyn
I've been working solidly on these caches since they were published ( with not much success, might I add), so, having solved a couple, I decided to venture out and try my luck.
This cache was one that I thought looked straightforward, but on checking the co-ords on the Evince Checker, I got the "Sorry" message. However, I decided that I thought I was right, so decided to head out anyway.
The spot that the GPS took me to didn't look too hopeful, but after doing a bit of scrambling, I soon had the cache in hand, and a bleeding leg from the blackberry bush.
Thanks so much for these great puzzles becon & Alwyn, you've certainly helped to get the cobwebs out of my brain!
