Catching up with late logs.We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and surrounds. We solved all the puzzles we could before we left home which was also an enjoyable part of this journey. We had a great time today doing a southerly loop picking up any caches that came up on the map finding all types of cache sizes and hides but unfortunately we have got behind in our logging and are trying to catch up now.We can no longer remember the caches individually so we apologize for the generic log, it's certainly not meant to take anything away from our experience, it's just the old minds just ain't what they used to be.We signed the logs as The Mob.Many thanks for adding this piece to the game board for our enjoyment.

Day 2 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today we did a lot of country driving, through nearby towns. The scenery was lovely with the trees turning a multitude of different colours for winter. All puzzles were solved before the trip. This is one of the caches we stopped to find along the way.A quick search and the cache was located, signed and replaced.A favourite point given. Many thanks for placing this cache, Becon4046 & Alwyn255, for us and others to find.

Cache found on our off highway tour. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.

Today we will be continuing our travels on some more of "the roads less travelled" to collect some more of the TRLT cache series, and also any other caches we come across along the way, including numerous previously solved puzzle/mystery caches. Yesterday we travelled roads to the South of Oberon, and today we will be travelling North towards O'Connell, Tarana, and Meadow Flat. This was our 7th find of the day (day 7), and 136th find of the holiday.

The puzzle was solved at home, and a nice quick find at GZ. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. Thanks Becon4046 & Alwyn255 for the puzzle & cache.

With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild.

We hit the road early and resisted the urge to stop along way. We decided to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area. We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure.
Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.

Solved a few of the puzzles in the area before deciding to come on this weekend.

Thanks for the puzzle and hide Becon4046 & Alwyn255 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.

Had a few solved puzzles around the area to collect, no issues with this one, solve or find.

Thanks for the hide becon4046 Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

We are enabling our caches as travel is now allowed. Please remember that Covid-19 lives for up to 3 days on plastic surfaces. Keep yourself and others safe by using hand sanitiser or gloves.

31-Mar-20
We are shutting down our caches while the Coronavirus lock-down is in place. We want to protect every finder as current information indicates that the virus can linger on plastic surfaces for up to 9 days. Many caches are near people's homes and we cannot encourage anyone to spread this virus.
Stay safe and heed the doctors advice to stay home if you can.

It was time for a big weekend caching, so I was joined by Fitzy_1965 and MinnieK for two days to tackle the new TRLT caches just East of Bathurst, This part of the trip went smoothly. I also managed to squeeze in a few more on the day after whilst traveling between the rain on Monday.

After Fitzy and MinnieK had to go home, I spent the afternoon getting more of the caches in this region. A collection of puzzles near Oberon was the main target.

Thanks.

13066. Found during a run up through the Bathurst/Orange region with minniek.

We had pre-solved a lot of puzzles for this region so they were the main aim for the trip. Quite a number of nice Trads and Multis thrown in as well to make up a great weekend's caching ! This was the next stop for the day on the way up. What an interesting puzzle it was - and the series was a lot of fun to solve (mostly!) and find. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and it was off to the next one.

Thanks again becon4046 ! Fav Point for this one - nice angle on a familiar theme !

After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.

Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.

Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.

Day 2 of our caching trip and we were out on the roads again. We headed to Oberon and some of the back roads around Bathurst before getting a few more caches in Bathurst. By days end we’d put a good dint in our "beyond the Great Divide" so decided to head for home. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.

The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.

Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

This is a really great series of puzzles to try and solve. Haven't finished them yet but decided to find what we had the co-ordinates for along this road. All the co-ordinates were very accurate and we were able to park very close to the hides each time. All logs were duly signed and replaced as found. Thank you to becon4046 for some challenging puzzles which we hope to be able to complete some day.

Canary had not saved the corrected coordinates for this cache so we ended up where the false coordinates were, looking around. Then I pointed out that where we were looking was where my GPS said the cache was. Since I hadn't had a chance to solve the caches in the series my query had downloaded the false coordinates for each cache. The fact that I said we should be where we were looking was a bad sign.

So Canary got on the phone and got someone at home to read him out the solution. I punched in the coordinates to my GPS and we drove back up the road to find it.

I made a quick find when we got there ahead of Canary who wandered in the opposite direction. It turned out that while he had read out the coordinates correctly as he received them over the phone, he punched them into his own GPS incorrectly. It at least ,made me feel useful.

On top of this I got to face a fairly aggressive bull only a couple of metres away across a flimsy wire fence. A few months ago I was writing about experiences with cows on a caching trip and reflected on how dangerous cows can be. People die every year from cows, many more than sharks as reported by the hysterical press. So I got the cache logging done quickly and got back to the car just as Canary was realising his mistake.

As for the puzzle. Would I have solved it? Absolutely for this one. I immediately recognised the numbers - anyone who knows me and knows my interests would never doubt this (in fact I use this kind of thing in one of my own puzzles) and I would then have followed it from then on, probably collaborating with Toriaz to help me solve the latter stages of the puzzle. Thanks

The eighth of twenty four on a Road Trip with my wife, bikerbuddy, Wayward Woman and NickoHeap.

I had time last week to solve some puzzles and today it was time to make some finds.

The puzzle gave me a little trouble as I mistaken went looking for the solution in the wrong format and missed the obvious!?!

Then I failed to save the solution on the cache listing!

Luckily I had saved the solution and it was only a phone a call away. From the right spot it was easy find under the watchful glare of the bull.

This was my first success story in solving these tricky puzzles, having successfully alighted on the correct approach. I've been a bit worried that someone might beat me to the FTF, but, no, there was the blank log sheet - quite a novel experience for me.
The views ARE stunning and I guess will be even more so, once we get some rain!
Thanks for these great puzzles becon & Alwyn and thanks for bringing us to this beautiful part of the world!
