After four days of driving, today was my first chance to explore NOLA on foot. This was my first stop in the morning, starting here and working my way into the French Quarter. One of our other family obsessions is smashed pennies, so this was a two-fer stop that I had to get to. Looks like all of the construction is finished in the brick area, but since the temporary requirements are still the only posted ones, I took the required picture while I was visiting. My grandfather fought in WWII and my wedding anniversary is D-Day, so it felt appropriate to be here.

TFTVC!

Found it when visiting NOLA as a family vacation and decided to see if any caches were near by. Convinced my muggle fam to come out and take the pic for me. TFTF.

We'd planned to visit the aquarium not realizing everything was closed on Mondays. Oh well, off we went on a driving, walking and buggy tour of the downtown area instead. We enjoyed our visit despite a little rain. Thanks for keeping this virtual going! I'll upload our photo when I get transferred off the phone.

This is my second time to visit this amazing museum. The new areas completed since my last visit were incredible. I saw this museum ranks third in the nation behind The Smithsonian and The MET. That tells you something about how amazing this place is.

Visiting the area from Phoenix. We're planning on spending the entire day tomorrow at the museum but we walked over from our hotel near the Convention Center just to get this virtual.

This virtual is special to us not just because both our fathers served in WW II, but also because it is our first find in Louisiana. And with this find we can now claim finds in all fifty states and DC. So it's a big day for us. It only took us fourteen years of geocaching. Big Grin

We haven't even seen the inside of the museum yet, but we'll give this virtual a fav just the same. We'll be back tomorrow. Thanks for the virtual.

After a long final year of school, my family and I decided to take a trip to the USA to cap off a big year. This is one of the caches found on the trip, travelling between New Orleans, Miami, Washington D.C. and New York City.

Today was our third and final full day in NOLA. We mostly visited a few of the places that we were interested in that we hadn't had the chance to visit yet. Later on in the day I also managed to find some spare time to make sure I found all caches closest to our hotel. This was the 1st cache find of today and boy, is American caching sure different to Australian caching!

We came down here today to go to the amazing looking WWII Museum but sadly it was closed until 12:30, at which point we had other plans. Very disappointing! Still managed to claim this smiley, though. Pic attached.

Thanks Breaktrack

Found on a walk from our nearby hotel. As I walked up to the GZ, I noticed a class of school kids more or less camped on the spot, so I went for a short walk and came back a short while later only to find a woman siting at the GZ with her foot on the required information. Fortunately, after short while she moved off and I was able to gather the required information.
Thanks Breaktrack - Email sent - Greetings from Australia.

#136 for the juc_cacher crew and my last New Orleans cache, after a week of caching, sightseeing and enjoying the cajun food around New Orleans...oh yeah..there was a little conference thing too .... SC10 Wink

This was a perfect way to finish off the trip and to fill in that big dead gap between checking out of the hotel in the morning and heading off to the airport late afternoon. After quickly grabbing the required information, we spent a good few hours checking out the excellent museum.

So, g'day from Down-Under and thanks for all the interesting caches in New Orleans !
