#14700 10:12A long day of geocaching on the West side of the Blue Mountains, from Mount Victoria to Bathurst. In the company of Brewmaker it was an enjoyable day.TFTC *JOSHWA27*
Some solving was done last night and this morning in anticipation of doing this loop on a particularly rainy Sunday before mothers day. Avenging a DNF from when this site was under construction when I was passing through last. Today I bumped my head on the tree while finding the cache.Thankyou for placing and maintaining the cache and allowing me to discover a new area and some beautiful countryside.TFTCGeneric overly-detailed summation of the day:Weather report: cool, overcast and a fair amount of rain for all of our caching today.Caching conditions: minimal muggle activity, GPS satellites talking nicely to my phoneSnack situation: optimal: a piece of carrot cake from O'Connell cafe to get me by until dinner. Also a good street library here, picked up Pompeii by Thomas Harris to have a read of.Public toilet status: bush loo today.Munzee distractions: none today, kinda forgot about them.Weirdos encountered: just the caching company.Out Caching with: Irondale and Malfromthefarm
We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and are picking up a few caches along the way.Knowing that we were coming up here we worked on these History of puzzles and we have to say that it took us awhile to come up with co-ords.On the other hand we did enjoy learning some history of towns that we had no idea about. It was nice to get close to some of the places we had researched. This was another quick find for us todayTo save room we signed as The Mob.Thanks for the cache
Day 2 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today we did a lot of country driving, through nearby towns. The scenery was lovely with the trees turning a multitude of different colours for winter. All puzzles were solved before the trip. This is one of the caches we stopped to find along the way.A quick search and the cache was located, signed and replaced.A favourite point given. Many thanks for placing this cache, Joshwa27, for us and others to find.
A quick find here, cache is all goodHeaded over to the Capital GeoBash in Canberra, ACT with Freddo over 5 days, travelling through the central part of NSW before caching around the hinterlands. A nice few days over with great weather. Thanks for the cache
Interesting history here. Thanks for the cache hide. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Reperio 15:40Today I headed out towards Oberon, and with that came the chance to pick up a few caches, especially some of the TRLT series. As I arrived to GZ, I had that sinking feeling that the roadworks here had either swallowed up the cache or that it had been removed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that neither had occured. Quick find after solving the puzzle a few weeks ago, thanks joshwa27 for all the history and jigsaw caches you have placed for our enjoyment.TFTC
There was another car parked near GZ but thankfully it took off before we started our search. Found by YGAT after I walked right past it.
I took the TB.
Thanks Joshwa27.

Day 3
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Another History of ticked off.
Thanks for the hide JOSHWA27 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
No issues solving another "History Of..." puzzle and cache located, signed and replaced nice and quickly too.
Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

Had a really good look around, read lots of old logs and then another good look around. Found nothing...
Out with RoddyC while house sitting in Bathurst.
Caching to day will take us to Oberon area.
We needed to come back to this one as we had not completely solved it. We got the green tick so included it in our trip today. After spending more than half an hour here and a PAF we have decided to move on.

Hatzofff and I are in Bathurst for a few weeks house sitting, and of course have time for lots of caching.
Today we journey around TRLT caches from Taralga south, picking up others on the way.
We solved last night and were hoping for a bit of unloved inn this cache, but we just could not find anything around the bases of any of the trees. After 35 minutes of searching and scratching (every tree looks like it's been re-gardened), a PAF confirmed our worst fears: the cache is gone.

Mudgee trip for The Road Less Traveled series. Day 2. Bumeroo Ford to Sofala via lots of back roads and Kelso. Last time I looked for tis I spent ages amongst trees, this time I spied it before I got bogged down.

We have had a wonderful time caching around Bathurst and on the back roads, love the rural scenery. This was one of the caches we targetted and found. Thanks to Joshwa27 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Headed up with nissan 65 for another dew days caching. Bit cooler today. Thanks for the cache. Cache replaced. Hope thats ok
Tried yesterday to find this one, went looking for 1/2 hour, but the wind was blowing fiercely and was just getting to cold.. so called it quits. came back today on a very calm day and still spent 20mins looking and no find. Beautiful area and views.
Thanks Joshwa27

Taking advantage of the long weekend, Fitzy_1965 and I decided to head up to the Lithgow area caching along the way. Our main aim was the Jenolan Caves MPT with a few extras here and there. We appreciated the wide variety of caches found and thank the CO's for their caches.
Took a bit of searching but we soon made the find. Don't think the cache is where it is supposed to be but left it where we found it.

14256. Found during a run through the Oberon to Lithgow region this long weekend Monday.
Minniek and I decided that a day trip up to Lithgow was in order to grab the Jenolan Caves MPT and any others along the way. This was the next and last find for the day. Another Pre-Solved Puzzle. Took a bit of scratching around but finally came up with the cache. Log signed, cache replaced, and we headed off home.
Thanks to all the COs for their caches - it was a great run up through this area.

A day of mystery caches that we had worked out earlier and as this was nearby we added it in. TFTC
After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.
Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.
Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.
Day 2 of our caching trip and we were out on the roads again. We headed to Oberon and some of the back roads around Bathurst before getting a few more caches in Bathurst. By days end we’d put a good dint in our "beyond the Great Divide" so decided to head for home. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.
The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.
Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

A quick and easy find as we worked our way, north and away from the frigid zone to be able to get home after being stuck in Oberon for the night due to road closures.
With a fistful of solved puzzles it was off on a History trail with rogerw3 ...
An easy park, but the find took a few minutes with it not being in the bleeding obvious (gee, Joshwa!). A few metres out with the coords and rather exposed the cache still was an easy find, and in good condition. Replaced, with some light camo. A story of the locale and a cache, thanks JOSHWA27*

Thanks for the cache.
We had decided that we would pick up some more *JOSHWA27* caches from our list of completed puzzles. We still have a lot to work out but it is fun researching the answers. We also have some traditional caches on the list for the day. Thank you for your contribution to the caching world.
#3578- This one had all of us scratching our heads for a few minutes until we widened our search and Canary found it. Thanks
When we got out of the car we were confident of where we were going to find the cache, but quickly realised this was not going to be a simple park and grab. We circled around and around, but the three of us were flummoxed. I sat down next to the fence, hot and thirsty, while the WaywardWoman and Canary continued to poke at nature.
“What’s up, buddy?” a little voice buzzed in my ear. I looked about. Was I hearing things? Then I looked down. Next to me was a bee, its belly bloated, its compound eyes doing this dizzying spiral dance that recalled the spinning stars that revolve about the heads of cartoon characters.
“What’s up yourself?” I asked, accepting that when I’m caching nature becomes garrulous.
“It’s that Alnic fellow,” the bee said in a startling non sequitur. “Thinks he can come in here, looking for his first to find, big guy from the mountains, sporting his GPS, thinks he owns the friggin world. And does he care about the little fellow? NO!” He slumped even further upon his wings against the wire fence, and the light of his many eyes dulled just a little.
Well, I was stunned. Was this the Alnic I knew: philanthropist, saint, caching god and general nice guy? Surely not!
“And then he pushes us aside,” the bee continued. “’That first to find is mine,’ he says to me and my buddies – and its stomp here and stomp there, and soon there’s only me left of our caching group.”
“Bees are into caching, too?” I asked a little startled.
“Oh, it’s all the same with you humans,” the bee buzzed, his wings bristling under the weight of his body. I sensed I was about to be drawn into a bar side colloquium. “You invent a little bit of technology and you think you’re just it.”
“I just think you’re wrong about Alnic,” I said defensively. “He’s a really nice guy.”
But the bee was in full flight (so to speak): “You step outside your suburbs with your big cars and your big houses where you think you’re big people but the truth is you’re little. You couldn’t home in on a flower to save yourself and you steal our honey. Then you come up with geocaching like it’s never been done before and you all think you’re so bloody clever, but us bees, we’ve been doing this for millennia. ‘Hey, bud, there’s a new flower just bloomed fifty metres away. Race you to it?’ That kind of thing. And then you guys come along and we think, okay we’ll check out that action, too. But then it’s ‘Oh! I didn’t get the first to find, I’ve been stung by a bee!’ Like it’s my fault when my whole pollen platoon has been knocked out by that oaf. A bee sting’s what’s gonna happen. And he blames us!”
“You mean you guys really did sting Alnic? It wasn’t just a metaphor for tortured loss and the destruction of dreams?”
“No, not really,” he said.
I decided to squish the bee. He really was horrible. How could he say those things about humans? About Alnic?
I got up and searched about a bit more.
“You found anything?” WaywardWoman asked.
And it was just at that moment, Canary found the cache beeside me. It was just beehind the tree. Can you beelieve it?
Thanks

The puzzle was an interesting distraction but the hide proved difficulty till we expanded our search area and I found it some 11m from our agreed GZ.

The bee doesn't though! The poor bugger DIES! Think about THAT Alnic when you whinge about first world problems like missing a FTF! The bee is dead, you heartless @#$@!
