We came, we found, we picked up rubbish and made Tahuna that bit cleaner.
Thanks
Thanks
I think all attendees have now logged, but will leave this event active until the end of the week just in case.
Would have been happy with plans A or B but C was just as good. Was happy not to find much in the way of rubbish around the playground but soon started to fill the bag in the dunes, I can't get over how lazy some people are about rubbish disposal, lots of cans and bottles, some clothing and what looked to be a good book on art before being left to the elements. The best thing about plan was the cafe for a catchup afterwards. Nice to see everyone and as always not enough time to talk to everyone, thanks for organising all 3 CITOs. I will look forward to the rescheduled plans A or B

We had great time meeting with up with new and old cachers. We were all armed with rubbish bags and gloves set off to pick up rubbish for the cito then back to the cafe for coffee.Thank you for organizing the cito
Happy all the plans A,B but C was just as good too. Was surprised to find not as much rubbish around the playground so had to go farther afield to fill the bag and back to the cafe for a catchup afterwards. Nice to see everyone plus a few new ones, thanks for organising all 3 CITOs.
Nice one! We were quite keen on Plan A and even keener on Plan B. However, the vagaries of weather forecasts meant that those plans were shelved. Plan C sounded pretty good to us though so Flying Phoenix and I managed to make it to the appointed meeting place in time to collect rubbish bags and then go off in search of trash. Arrived back at the cafe with plenty of time for coffee, brunch and a catch up. A good turn out here this morning too. Thanks for arranging this and we look forward to the postponed tasks some time in the future. TFTE, Biggles.
Dad (Biggles) told me that this even was going to be at the Beach Cafe. I was working there this morning so that was all good for me. After we found enough trash it was time to eat, drink and make merry! Thanks for the event!
Plan A sounded good. Plan B sounded really fun. But Plan C was just fine. A good amount of rubbish picked up and then nice coffee and chat. A pleasant way to start the weekend. Thanks Streetgamer and family for organising the event.
Plan A, B and C - sounds like a normal caching outing for Mrs Sobad. Funny how the vagaries of weather meant all three were possible in the end. B was possibly our favourite, but it sounds like that is possible in future anyway. C was absolutely fine - and possibly more convivial. Cleaned the area, had coffee and chatted - all as you should for a plan C. Three cheers and thanks for the triple organisation.
Thanks Streetgamer and family. Great organisation and amazing flexibility.
I wasn't that keen on Plan A, but you do what you gotta do with friendly like minded people.
Then along came Plan B and I was rapt. A lot closer to home and a task that I would enjoy a whole lot more. Alas that was not to be. I do hope I'm around town for the postponed version.
Onto Plan C and I had an enjoyable walk among the dunes with KE as we commented on the people who drink and then discard RTD's in this area.
We then caught up with Hazadarus and Holymu and had a great chat about recent caching adventures and then we wandered back to base for a good cuppa and more chat.
Again, thanks very much team for the organisation. An enjoyable Saturday morning catch up.

All's well that ends well. It was nice to see such a good turn out for the hastily re-re-arranged event and with the number of rubbish bags by the bin we can all feel satisfied with some time well spent. Thanks for your efforts.
As there seems to be some popular support still for Plan B, we shall get something lined up for around a month's time and we'll set up another CITO event in due course.

We had enjoyable morning keeping Tahuna clean and catching up with everyone.
Thank you Streetgamer for organising this wonderful event.

After being off the grid for a few days we knew about plan A but not of the developments. We weren't sure about attending when, while emptying an overflowing inbox the message popped up about plan C. We planned to have a major logging session after some full on caching days with over 380 finds. Fresh air at the beach and catching up on the local caching gos won though. A full rubbish bag was collected in a short time. We left a full set of clothing just in case.... After that a stroll back to base with KE and Marchwood. Then coffee and sharing stories about caches found and not found with all who attended.
Was hoping to be down south at time of event but change of plans at work stopped that. Was keen on A B & C. Good turnout with short notice
Plans A, B and C all sounded good to me. Plan C worked out really well and was perhaps the most sociable of the three. Compared to some places I've been lately the area seemed to be rubbish free but once you have a proper look it's amazing just what you find. We debated whether mussel shells were rubbish and then decided yes they were when piled up right beside a BBQ. - - - If everyone did that, the place would soon be an unsightly mess.
After walking along through the grassed area and through the bushes we had a pleasant stroll back along the beach and marvelled at the irresponsibility of people who built structures without the proper consents (yeah, right ).
Thanks sooo much for organising this event. Yaayyyy. My first Nelson CITO .

Our first ever CITO, definately had to turn up considering the effort that went in to organising plan C. We were somewhat surprised at how litter free the children's playground area was - not so litter free when we headed towards the back beach. We were happy to see someone had removed the safety fence around the hut on the beach so we had to have a wee play , before it is dismantled. GK (a builder) was suitably impressed at the strength of the structure given what it is made from. Enjoyed the social chat afterwards, met some people we haven't met before - so that is always nice. Thanks for organising the event today and we look forward to plan B in the future
Dad and I were quite surprised at the amount of rubbish we found as we soon had our bag filled.
Thanks everyone to coming along to my first event and thanks to MSEBN for helping with all the arrangements.
Thank you, thank you and then thank you again for all the effort that went into organising 3 events. Hats off to you guys for not giving up. This plan was probably the one that suited me the most in the end but I would've been happy to contribute to both the others. After all the kerfuffle with what the weather was supposed to be doing it was very pleasant sitting in the hot sun catching up with several others. Thanks again Streetgamer and your family - you'll be now a pro at organising events!
Yay it's the weekend, ad a long weekend at that. Parade on Monday for Anzac observance and need to think about packing up the house for our forthcoming move into Blenheim 'city'. But first, a trip over the hill for mrs capperz and nightowl19 to get some shopping and me and Tally the geodog to get some caches. A day that had threatened rain and unsettled weather failed to deliver thankfully so it was t-shirt weather again.
After a late and disturbed nights sleep with no19 ill (but not too ill to go shopping!) we were late departees from home and I feared all would be over by the time I got to town. Dropped off the girls in Nelson and came here promptly to see if anyone remained. In true Nelson style the tables were still (mostly) full of cachers with caching chat and good to see some familiar friends and faces. A good chance to have a quick chat with the CO's dad and definitely interested in Option 2 when it gets rescheduled, sounds really cool. Thanks for setting up this special C I T O event Streetgamer I will grab some trash whilst caching later

A last minute discovery that this CITO was at the beach and a very quick change of plans had us heading that way, albeit a bit later than most. It didn't take long to fill a bag of rubbish. It seems no problem to carry full 'containers' in but too much effort to take them away again.
It was great to catch up with everyone today too.
Thank you for your efforts to ensure we earned our souvenir today.

# Plan C #
Due partly to the level of support, but largely to Sidewaze's suggestion, we have decided that we shall not let the opportunity pass and will make the best of an unfortunate series of situations.
Instead, we shall meet at **The Beach Cafe** at **Tahuna** at around **09:30am** and perform some CITO activities around there for a reasonable period of time before returning to the cafe for morning tea.
We hope you will still be willing and able to attend.
We will obtain some plastic sacks for the event, but if you wish, please bring along your own too. **Suitable gloves might be in order too**.
Should it be raining tomorrow, or some other unfortunate meteorological event occur which renders Tahuna inaccessible, then I think we'll call the event off as someone, somewhere *really* doesn't want this to go ahead.
----------
## An update on the Brook Sanctuary event##
We will reschedule this as our help will still be much appreciated. I am thinking of a Saturday in late May or early June, but will schedule the event in due course once things are lined up.
So now might be a good time to check your Geocaching email alerts (if you haven't already done so) as CITO event notifications are separate to ordinary event notifications.

You are sure having to work for the "honour" of organising a CITO . I'll be there wet or fine with the appropriate get-up for the weather. I figure I can CITO in anything less than torrential rain .
Heading over the hill to Nelson tomorrow so will CITO as I cache and catch up with someone at the Tahuna café? Won't be there until about 1030 I reckon if that's OK?
Plan C - great to meet up with you all and many thanks for arranging and re-arranging. Glad we took our rubber gloves as some of the trash was somewhat unsavoury! The area will be a lot cleaner for our combined efforts.
I'd love to attend. You have all done a fantastic job of organising not only one but two interesting and very appropriate events - that can't have been easy so thanks so much for all the thought and effort that has gone into this. From one that has walked to the 3 caches mentioned I would highly recommend anyone taking the advantage of a ride! I also look forward to another CITO event in the future for the original intent.
The weather on the west coast is packing in so we are thinking that we might cut short our holiday so we can attend your event
# The Curious Case of the CITO Curse #
>Sighs...
Well, it seems like the CITO Curse may have struck again.
The Brook Sanctuary Operations Manager, having studied the weather for tomorrow and seen the prospect of rain, has expressed the preference for us to **postpone** our event for another day, citing access to the proposed tracks being tricky after even the smallest amount of rain.
Ironic really, seeing as Plan A was cancelled due to lack of rain, and now Plan B due to its likelihood.
I have asked him whether there might be a short-notice Plan C, seeing as so many of you fine folks have said you would come along. We are awaiting a final answer and will give a final announcement at lunchtime today. It's frustrating, but understandable.
But, our help *is* still very much sought after, so come-what-may, we will reschedule for another date in the not to distant future as CITO events can be held all year round and their is another GC.com CITO week later in the year

Missed plan A hopefully plane B is still active not sure about plan C.
should be a bit of fun!
should be a bit of fun!
Hope to attend - but Saturdays are training days with Coastguard so can't promise to be there.
We have read the changed plans and confirm that it is still a definite for one of the team and a possible for two.
Sorry guys - change of plan.
The planting at Paremata Flats Reserve is definitely OFF, but we have worked to secure an alternative option that we hope will suit.
The cache page has been fully updated to show the new details.
We hope it will still appeal and being closer to town might allow you to spend a little longer, or indeed attend where you might not have previously been able to.
We have asked our lovely status quo to update the coords, but we are now meeting at The Brook Sanctuary visitor centre (S41 18.712 E173 17.545), same date, same time.

One of the team was definite - weather permitting. The second person was a possible - other commitments permitting. We have this on a watch list.
Whoa. Lucky to spot this as I was trolling. Better get my notifications sorted.
Count two of us in.
Count two of us in.
At the moment i might be heading down south but that is a maybe. Will be there if i do not go
## A quick heads up on this event ##
The Paremata Reserve project team have advised there is the possibility that this event might need to be postponed due to the lack of rain in recent weeks.
At this time, the event is still on, and will update you later next week.
We are still keen to know how well supported a CITO event/events might be in Nelson, so if nothing else, please use this event to note your interest.
Thanks
