.Quick snag and tag here. Luckily no vehicles today. Roads very quiet. Cheers.
Its Wednesday 24 April and we are off exploring Milburn, Lawrence and Lake Mahinarangi today. Awesome!!
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

Lots of great info at GZ, spent quite a bit of time reading. Don't take me to a museum - takes me hours to get out! Cache page is a bit confusing. Is there a sentence missing? It seems to contradict itself, saying that Malta was the only source of limestone, when it can be found all over, including ancient Egypt.
Edit - oops! wrong site - it was the earthcache with all the info.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

Heading off on a geocaching road trip to Lawrence today - and this letterbox tempted me down a side road.
What a dusty place ! A truck turned into the Limeworks and I was left shaking off the log book...
Quick find, accurate hint. Thanks for this cache, Natalie247.

On our way to Dunedin we like to do some caches. We had a close look on the letterboxes. This one was quite easy to find. My son really enjoyed it. Thanks for the cache!
On the way the Catlins to Dunedin we enjoyed this cache. Box is in a very good condition
Geez the road is busy today but managed to locate and sign the log inbetween trucks coming and going.
Day 7 of our tour of the South of the South Island
today Dunedin to Invercargill
stopping at a few uniques along the way
a Letterbox was enough to lure us in off the highway
[:o)] made harder work on this find than I needed to ...
got it in the end
signed and replaced as found
now may as well go have a look at the nearby lookout

Today we drove along the scenic southern coastal road. We visited a lot of highlights like the lighthouse at Nugget Point, the Purakaunui Falls and Slope Point. Some of them we would have missed without the caches there. Thanks for hiding and maintaining. We ended up in Bluff and tried to find the old cache on Bkuff hill - but unfortunately we failed. Nevertheless a really great day. Though the hint seemed to be clear we had to search for a while.

Heute folgt mit Heckenstürmer der zweite Transfertag von Dunedin nach Te Anau. Eine Recht grosse Strecke, bei der wir uns beim abwechselten. Aber dennoch konnten ein paar Dosen eingesammelt werden...
We found this geocaches while travelling in New Zealand. Today we drove from Dunedin to The Catlins. We took this one because it’s a letterbox. It was a quick find. Thanks for this one!
An easy quick find here which was welcome as it was raining. First letterbox during our trip to New Zealand! Tftc
After arriving in Dunedin this morning, I picked up a rental car from the airport and drove down to Invercargill. Didn't do much caching along the way, but did take a detour up to the Whale Fossil Lookout and took a look for the caches around there. Parked right beside GZ and made a quick find here. TFTC!
Took longer to find that what others had said. Was about to go and then looked in a normal spot and there it was. Damn it. Tftc
At last, a free weekend before the onset of chaos. An early morning phone call...'are you able to take xyz up north to a customer?''
There was no excuse not to, quickly chucked clothes on dragged her outta bed raced into work, got parts, and on the road before 8am.
As we drove, the voice from the passenger seat, piped up and said ' look at all these, aren't we going near here?'
Oooh Goody!! Now it's a fun work trip, might be a long day!!!
A quick park and grab on the way home.

WhTs not to love about a caching trip combined with downsouthinv having to deliver parts for work.
Any excuse is a good one, and time to head off the main road into the wilderness to find us some caches.

I've started my beautiful trip of the South Island in Christchurch, I've visited many beautiful locations. I've travelled via Lake Tapeko, from Dunedin to the most southern part of Bluff. I've then continued with a cruise in Milford Sound and then back to Queenstown.
From there on I've visited Wanaka and the Haast pass to the Franz Josef glacier. I went all the way up to the Abel Tasman NP. Richmond und Nelson as the sonnierst cities were on my list as well.
I've soon reached the east coast in Picton and Blenheim.
After a couple of days, I've then travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura.
I've spent a couple of days in Christchurch and it's surroundings.
I've visited many geological sites and have found many caches along the way.
I've travelled 3500km and have experienced so much.
Thank you to all the owners

smileys found! on our way to Dunedin short stop....next stop will be the Cadbury chocolate factory
Is it supposed to be that easy to find? It was practically screaming out to be found. A cheerful cache. Thanks
This one was easy to find in its correct place. The camo on the container sure made us smile. All was done properly and put back in the same place as it had been found. Just picking up a few caches around the area to represent this part of the country. Duties were completed before the cache was replaced where it had been found. Thanks go to Natalie247 for placing this cache, which was found by a couple of Aussies who are on a very wet tour of New Zealand.
Catching up with the logging for a 3 day adventure caching around Dunedin and beyond with rustynz and gorby. Thanks for the hide
We 3 (rusty and Rebel and myself) are down from Auckland for 3 days of caching, We regularly go away together for 3-4 day caching trips. And today this is our 2nd day of our adventures.
It's still raining when we get to this cache, we've just done the earth cache nearby and obviously wanted to pick this one up too. rusty has her stamp with her but reckoned there is supposed to be a separate book just for that. But anyway we move on, glad to get out of the rain. Thanks for the cache Natalie.

Made the detour off the main drag to find our first Letterbox cache during this Dunedin adventure with rebel98 and gorby
I bought specially my stamp (kiwi) from home just for this cache, so it was good to make use of it, when I found the cache. The rain has eased off a little, only a light drizzle, 5 minutes ago it was pouring down!
Thanks for the hide, again lovely to meet the CO at the Dunedin event today.

On way back to Chch after spending the night in Moeraki.
Spotted this letterbox and couldn't not make the small detour.
Found on the very end of the row, replaced as found as who would stop here but cachers?
Tempted by the whaler fossil, but that'll have to wait another day or I'll never get home!
Thanks for the smilie Natalie247.

We were heading back from an adventure along the Milford Sound Road, and needed to break the journey a few times! Great to find a letterbox! TFTC!!
#219 we were surprised by a little rabbit at the GZ who refused to lead us to the cache. However, having dug through the prickles, we had the cache in hand, first letterbox for me. TFTC
Quick detour on the way out of the quarry. This one was most swiftly found upon arrival owing to its bright colour and large size. Thanks for the special cache type out here. TFTC!
I have often seen from a distance, good to have a reason to deviate today.

Day three of my long, long weekend in Otago and Southland and I’m loving every moment of it. Woke this morning in my Airbnb in Winton to the sound of rain so I was a little downcast thinking I was back to wet shoes and socks for the day. However, my fears were misjudged as the day was crisp and clear. Left Winton with a good impression and more than I arrived (pre-arrival all I knew that the only woman hanged in New Zealand, Minnie Dean, came from here).
Making good progress heading towards Dunedin. Although the Police thought I was making too good a progress and have issued me with a fine to slow me down. Oh well, these things happen. A quick find here so I could get on my way towards Dunedin.
Headed off the highway for a couple of caches up this road. Disturbed a rabbit hiding in the long grass here and it is a toss up as to who was freaked out the most. Quick find and I could head on my way up to the whale. TFTC

After an early start this morning and then a flight from Auckland we were really looking forward to a weekend of caching in our old stomping ground.
By coincidence we caught up with some caching friends at a cache in Mosgiel so we continue our adventures in convoy.
Nice quick find with no trucks in sight on a Saturday night TFTC.

#14658. We were well into the afternoon, and the todo list was still lengthy, but we still had time for interesting detours. Easy find here. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on day 5 of our road trip to the Oamaru Geofest, taking the scenic route, of course. Today we are travelling from Invercargill to Dunedin, via the Catlins.
This was a most interesting detour to the limestone lookout. A truck rumbled past while we were doing the paperwork but the driver seemed unsurprised to see us lurking there. TFTC.

New Zealand ... a dream for every traveling [8)]
A little more than 20 years ago I've been here, but since then much has changed and that's also good! Now I'm back here ... 1 week North Island and 2 weeks South Island ... cool [^] Of course, I want to visit a few caches. Especially dissolved puzzle caches, which I find particularly attractive Best thanks to all the owners !! Greetings from the Swiss "Kiwi"
Bald ging's weiter nach Dunedin, ab is Hotel [^]
Besten Dank für die Letterbox.

I believe this cache is ok following heavy rainfall over last 48 hrs, however roads in the area have been affected. A state of Emergency is still in place - for upto date info on roads go to www.dunedin.govt.nz/road-conditions
A large portion of my caches have been in affected area and I am currently through work/voluenteering have to focus on other post flooding activities.
As I expect it will be at least 1 week until I can do effective maintenance runs to check and replace caches I apologise now if you were hoping to claim this for a dot day/Mary Hyde gold and it is not in its expected state.
I would be grateful for any comments on what needs to be done and help empty water and provide dry logs.

On my way from Kaka Point to Dunedin. Took a little detour to stretch my legs and take a break from driving. How difficult can it be to find a cache? This one took me a little while, but just couldn't stay hidden from me. Thanks for hiding!
Soon found this one with the good hint, pleased to find another hybrid on our travels reminding us of our many years of letterboxingupdate on Dartmoor at home in Devon UK . Many thanks

We are heading up to the old Quarry Lookout this morning, so stopped along the way at the entrance to the new quarry. Plenty of Limestone here but the cache was found in the first place we looked. Thanks for the Letterbox hybrid.
I had a free transfer-a-car booked from Queenstown to Christchurch, so obviously I decided to head back to Christchurch via Invercargil to get a few "must have" caches. Teamed up with mrdan01 for this trip.
It was dark by the time we made it here, but we had come prepared with torches so it didn't take long to locate this cache. A nice clear night, so the stars were shining bright. Thanks for the cache.

Day one of a weekend road trip with 2wombles. He had booked a free rental car between Queenstown and Christchurch, and was nice enough to invite me along for the ride! Naturally we decided to take the scenic route - via Invercargill and Dunedin, but unfortunately, we had to cut out the Catlins due to a flight delay at the start of the trip. I really enjoyed getting out to this part of our country that I don’t get to see very often, and there were plenty of laughs along the way too! TFTC (3511)
Nice big box on a busy corner. Luckily it wasn't raining or the wagon would've been covered in yellow mud. Don't remember seeing a stamp in the bunch of swag so a quick motif was doodled in. TFTC
Hurrah another letterbox cache! Must have swapped out a stamp I picked up somewhere and after SL drew our motifs in as well. Poorly done in our haste. Cache was procured after reading the logs and hints, yep there was some drift not that it matters, hide was covered well and cache was full of swag, has some respect if a little dusty with the limeflour. Noice camo. Grabbed the goods in a big tough baggy and rehid cache before realising I hadn't popped the big log book back. Away I go again and reset the hide once finished. TFTC Nat.
Cache # 3,689 - Yay! The only letterbox grabbed by Pufura and me on this trip. Signed and stamped appropriately. Noticed many other cachers didn't quite get the concept, but very nice to have this here. Made for a 5 type day, although the earthcache will need work later. TN. TFTC!
Found with Stairman1, GreencGecko's and Seffnjarah.
Having just completed a five day tramp over "Five Passes" in Fiordland National Park to claim first to find on a long unloved remote alpine earth cache, our reserve "bad weather days" are now free for us to go caching. So, we hired a car for a road trip looping around southern parts of the South Island.
We love grabbing unusual caches, and this interesting letterbox was worth the stop - a quick park and grab. Thanks for placing this cache, Natalie247

A group of 5 of us were visiting NZ from Australia in search of a five year old FTF cache on the 5 Passes trail. We had given ourselves a few spare days at the end in case bad weather held us up along the way, but Mother Nature chose to be kind and after successfully completing our mission, now had time to kill on our hands. What better way to spend it than travel the country side in search of some more caches. After overnighting in Invercargill we were now making our way to Dunedin. Crookedpete's skillful driving got the car almost close enough to reach out the window for the cache, but not quite, so it was a quick park and grab before heading off again to continue the journey, while The Green Geckos remained oblivious in the back, catching up on some well deserved zzzzzz's. TFTC
quick find as was logging catche a large mob of sheep came down to fence line to see what I was doing
Once we worked out which end we needed to be at, it was a pretty quick find. Picked up the TB. TFTC
It was a long caching day. Together with Lady Murazor we reached the southernmost point of our New Zealand trip finding quite a few geocaches along our way and admiring excellent views. Fortunately the weather was better than yesterday. So it was a very good start of the next year! Well, tomorrow there's a time to head back north, our stay here is not as long as we would like it to be.
Yeah, our southernmost find! It will stay as one for long, maybe some day we will make a trip to either Patagonia or Antarktica to beat it.

First cache for the day. Driving from Dunedin to Fox today.
A large letterbox ticks two boxes for me. Did not continue to the lookout as we had seen some fossils at the geology department yesterday.
Thanks for the cache Natalie247

Heading south for a wee family holiday. After spending the night in Dunedin....time to hit the road again and continue the journey down to The Catlins and our campsite! Initially didn't spot this letterbox on the gps so continued down the state highway....but then Mrs TG saw it and we performed a u-turn and headed back & down the side road to make the find and sign. Didn't know about the whale fossil further on - no time today, but will be back to investigate those!
Last cache to find up here before heading to Dunedin. No problems with muggles as it is so late in the day. TFTC
Cache was 1.5m from where it was originally placed. It was all in good condition and not too tricky to find. So I decided to leave it in the new spot and updated hint but in event of future cache creep recommend taking a minute looking around the area.

En direction de Dunedin et comme on passait par là pour voir les fosilles de baleine
Pas moyen de mettre la main sur la cache
Natalie247, thanks for the geocache

Went to the place and it was quiet obvious where the cache used to be (rectangular spot of dead grass at the hint side).
Please have a look. Thanks
