I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

This cache is suffering from a bit of creep as it has been found 'in the open' twice now, and when I went to look for it last it wasn't where it should be. Once we are back to more normal circumstances I shall have another good look for it and return to its home. Thanks everyone, and keep safe!

Easy find....somewhat odd place for cache, mostly out in open? Did not touch, or open it, so did not sign log. Will come back after level4 lockdown lifted.

Time to head home now the bridge is open but first morning stoll to stretch the legs...kids not to happy about it but no choice ..

This took a while of up and down and around on circles, not sure what the hint means it doesn't match the location of where I found the cache ...had to read logs for help and the "path between bushes" was the clincher....saying that I only found it when I stood on it in the long grass...not sure if it is in the right place as there is a better place a few metres up the hill that probably matches the hint , but I left it where I stumbled upon it
Glad to tick it off tftc

Yes despite no trees GPS bouncing all over the place, also helped by other log descriptions, still a bit soggy, but better for being given wait time in the sun.

Nice easy find once I had read other people's notes. Cache was quite soggy (tried to drain out excess water and dry it in the arvo sun for 10 minutes but not completely dry) tftc

.TFTC, ties this in with another on these tracks, magnificent day and away from the city!

Out for a hillside hike with the teens. This cache was a surprisingly quick find. Reading previous logs about a small track between two bushes helped us a great deal! TFTC.

#16834. Between events, we went for a walk in the hills. I accompanied Troodles to a nearby cache I found some years ago. Then on the way back we looked for this one. The GPS map showed a side track from the valley track that would take us to the cache. I think the map was wrong (and the side track turn off was further up the valley. From the valley track, I spotted a track marker on he hillside above, and climbed up to it through the long grass. Once I got on the track I told to Troodles to come on up. Some time later we set off for GZ. Once there it took some time to find the cache. Initially I went too far off track, up the hill into rocky area. After reading past logs, I realised the rockyarea was the wrong place to be, and headed back down to the track. I spotted a bit of a side track between two bushes, and when I got to the gap between the bushes found the cache under a bush (5m or so from the main track). Whew! TFTC.

Found with StreetWalker between events today Smile.
We made this into a high terrain cache, first by taking a short cut from the lower track, not far from Post a cache, to the upper one. The long grass made it tricky - and slippery - and it took me a while as I am not good with heights, or steep climbs.
It was good to get on a proper track to GZ. Took a while to find the cache, as both our GPSrs were pointing uphill, over 20m from the track. SW took the direct route while I waited on the track, waiting for him to find the cache Wink. When it was apparent this was going to take a while, I looked for another, less steep way up. By the time I was close to where my GPSr was pointing, SW, who had read some logs, had headed downhill and found the cache much closer to the track. Phew. TFTC.

I'm almost embarrassed to say how long this took me. In the end I read logs and found others having the same gps issues. Pleased to find this. Tje log and cache are a bit damp. Thanks for this challenge! #3823

In long grass up around my waist this was harder than normal. Took Valley track only to discover I was on the wrong trail so some cross country was in order.

18-Nov-18
After turning in circles among the rocks and bushes for a long time, one of us stepped on the cache. This one would have been a quick find if we had come down the track rather than up! We picked up the muggle geocoin and left some desiccant as the log was pretty damp. TFTC

Found the cache by accident - suddenly it did not feel like a rock under one foot. The cache survived as it was not the full weight - placed it a bit closer to a bush so that this would not happen again. TFTC

I decided to come back to the car via this cache rather than the Rapaki Track highway. Much nicer, and the other walkers friendlier too.

Got to GZ and stuggled to put my hand on the prize so a quick PAF who has an excellent memory, and sent me pretty much straight to the cache. Yippee, another blue smiley turned yellow!

Dropped off the Muggles geocoin from 2006.

Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

Found on a dog walk.
After a really lazy day of video games and doing nothing, flatmate and I finally managed to get ourselves out of the house and went on a wee walk with Luna the dog. After one DNF already, and some fruitless efforts spent here as well, I was ready to give up when I managed to stumble upon the cache, just lying on the ground there, in-between two bushes.
Should have concentrated more on bushes than rocks from the start.

Wet cache - poured out water. Log still signable but could do with some CO love probably.

#3,116: Stealthful Smiley!
What a great day out! I decided to take advantage of nice weather, and the family being away, to have a great day out walking in the Port Hills, and of course, caching. All in all, 17 finds, from lots of COs, only one DNF, and some spectacular views. I walked about 16km (24,000 steps) in all, with lots of elevation change, sheep, sun, and fun.
I came up the "wrong" track to get to this one, but got to GZ and started in with the looking. Lots of growth in the area, and lots of stuff to get stuck mu clothes, socks, etc. After looking for a long time, and thinking it must be near rocks, I decided to phone an FTF friend. He set me straight, and I was able to lay my hands on the prize. Pretty tired at this point, so was happy to head down hill.
SL/TFTC!!

Had to PAF here as I was feeling a bit defeated. Glad to finally have it ticked off. Almost literally stumbled upon it! Blustery and the sun had set behind the hill... getting cold. GLB1721 TFTC (3978)

Woohoo- have had this one on my radar for a while and finally I've managed to find the correct track up here and claim it. Fortunately I dragged my muggle hubbie up here with me as I really couldn't find it and yet again he found it for me. I like to walk up Rapaki Track or the Bridle Path etc when I come down to Christchurch to visit my elderly parents so it's always an extra bonus if I can claim a smiley as well Smile

Over a year since last found and I go looking after the spring growth has kicked off! Phone said 5m so I hunted. Nothing, but now phone says 8m over there. I move nothing. Phone now says 5m the way I came. Try the other side, no luck. Expand search. 11m South. Take one step- 5m to go. Head back to first place I looked 2m. Still nothing, move around slightly to get 4m. Decide that's close enough and put phone away. Give the long grass, bidibid, and spittle bugs hell. Spot the Cache and adjust angle of attack. Log book signed on a gorgeous sunny day. One of my closest to home caches finally done!
TFTC Cool

Well I'm up here right now in the fog (at least it's not raining) and it's definitely still here. For a simple box in a bush it does seem to be causing trouble for some seekers. It is camo taped but I didn't think it was *that* effective. Today my phone was 5m out from GZ but I can't even see as far as Rapaki let alone a satellite in orbit.

26-Mar-17
I checked this out after the first DNF and it was still there. I shall go check again when it stops raining.

Add me to the list.
Someone else has had a pretty good look here recently as well.
cheers and thanks,

A lot more than one set of elephant tracks today. Some of them even went to believable cache hiding spots. Sadly none of them led me to the cache. Sad

I managed to find the right track that got be nice and close to GZ, however after about 30 minutes of scratching around I gave up...

Not nearly as hard as I thought it was last time!! TCTF and Bri going me back up here:-)

No luck today! Had a few hours to myselft this morning and decided to head up the hills after school drop off. I parked up the end of Albert Terrace and headed upwards. I did a lovely loop up the Gorge Track, did a bit of a shortcut up to the Mt Vernon Farm Track, along the summit road, down Rapaki, cross over to Mt Vernon Valley Track and then up and over to the truck. Took just over 2 hours netting a few and missing one. It was really clear, cold and WINDY. Glad for my jacket. Lovely morning out and good for the old cobwebs.
I dropped down from Rapaki and spent a bit of time here. I must be blind today.

Took longer than I hoped to find, nearly gave up. Perseverance pays!

TFTC. Out for a wander with the puppy this afternoon. I was thrilled to see this cache pop up very close to the track we were on. So decided to walk up and then cut back towards the cache. Lovely day to be up on the hills.
Thanks Clurbee for placing the cache.

Quick find thanks for this - no TB - again Sad

I zeroed well below the fence, hunted for a good 15 minutes before it decided to change GZ to above. Then I spotted the trail that others had mentioned. TFTC.

31-May-16
Thanks for this cache. I had a quick walk up the hillside on the first decent sunny day after a week or so of rain. The log is dry and in good condition.

Cool morning before SWester arrives. Nice to have new cache close to home on my running route. Tftc

07-May-16
Mmm, phone GPS zeroed a couple of times in different places! And I scoured the surrounding area with no luck today:-( maybe tomorrow!! Thanks for get me out here!!

06-May-16
I needed some exercise and so I thought I'd investigate some Mt Vernon tracks and find a couple of caches. Wandered up the Valley Track until abeam GZ then made a direct approach uphill. Once I spotted the elephant tracks I knew that I must be close, but it still took me a few minutes to track the cache down. TFTC.

A nice little walk for a nice size cache. TFTC

Thank you for bringing me to this place and placing this cache Clurbee from Mr Cuddly Brick , cache 1330 on this mighty day the 30 April 2016

Saw the new cache listing at 1020pm...hum'd and haa'd then thought 'why not'. Love these tracks and all the more fun at night. Have been up here many a time with the boys since they were in a front pack!
Parked up and wandered in with headtorch ablaze - just like daylight really!
Contemplated Valley yrack then straight lining it but thought better of it and followed the proper track. Lovely evening; plenty of stars and the lovely city lights to look back on. Quick find and sign...and now to wander out and home. Cheers ears.
