Had a really good look yesterday, as the last non-finder says the hollow branch it was in has crashed to the ground and container was unfindable.

A big day walk from the trout farm up north-west spur and across stoney tops. Have been up, down and around most tracks in this area dozens of times but this was my first trip across the ‘tops’.
There was a large tree trunk that had fallen at 0metres and it had squashed a lot of vegetation making it hard to search at ground level but the biggest issues was the ants. They were horrendous in this area and despite 10minutes of looking - got tired of the ant bites. One for another day.

Found this one while on our way up walking to Feather top.
A bit of a smokey day from the fires down south but a great day all the same.
A nice size container in a wonderful part of our area.
I’ll be back up this way again on a clearer day.
Thankyou for getting me out & about again.

Splendidly fabulous view of the mountains and a happy find despite ant nests, the drive and bike ride in but I was on a mission! Definitely not my idea of the easy way to Feathertop so can only assume that claim is tongue in cheek. And to think I nearly headed this way a few days ago - a dark exit would have caught me out big time. Today was a commitment! I’m in the hunt for “UNLOVED” caches and this fits the bill poifectly given its 2016 since Skullracing penned a FTF. You could say it was a reach for lil old me but there weren’t many options so it was a quick enough find. Thanks to Bingley for the challenge and the vision to place here. No buddies or muggles to take a pic for me so it’s kind of a pose

Tempted to delete the below on grounds of verbal diarrhea, also plagiarism...... Smile

Dear CO, if you'd have told me that skullracing was going to be in your group, I'd have considered driving back to Vic just to plant a surprise up that there hill Wink

So there I was lounging around the skull cave when the jungle drums went off...turns out the grumpy trip leader was planning an assault on the north face of Feathertop with the Murray Valley Bushwalkers.
Well, he had me at "hello" so I chiselled out an acceptance on a spare stone tablet and sticky taped it to the nearest carrier pigeon with directions to the Bingley castle in the south.
I met the troops in a very bright meeting place, and we soft roaded our way to the kick off point....with a touch of flora relocating along the way, but it was nothing that a few rugged outdoorsy blokes and gals couldn't deal with.
So after all that internal combustion fun, it was time for the good old fashioned walking part to begin and we all wandered off up the trail at the speed of chatter.
The walking and the chatting thing went along very well with a bit of huff and puff and Ooohh and Aaah at some random views along the way but soon enough the pointing boxes counted down to about 200m to go and everything turned serious.
I was walking along in front and I could hear my caching competition trying to plot some dastardly tactics behind me with our walking companions to try and either stop me or slow me down......
Two can play at that game so I was going to send a quick text to Jan at the rear to feign an injury cause he couldn't resist helping a damsel in distress......
Bwahahaha......
But a quick glance backwards and I discovered he didn't have his GPS in his hands, only his walking poles, so even though I only had my stoopid sorry excuse for a GPS, I am pretty sure it was picking up more satellites than his poles and will be slightly more useful in finding the cache......that and I had a 10m and a few years head start.....
It's on like donkey kong.
So as we got closer to the prize, my stoopid doesn't feel like being a GPS, pointing box start to swing around like Keith Richards at a booze convention, so I started to wonder out loud as to which side of the track the cache will be on in the hope that the CO, who was right beside me, might let out a couple of sly winks in a certain direction.....but the cunning begger gave nothing away and was as vague as the steering on 1964 LandCruiser.
With no time to waste on trying to drag info out of the CO and directions out of my waste of space Garmin, and with the competition closing in at the speed of sound, I launched myself over into the abyss and down towards where I hoped the hell it would be. After checking a few spots on the way, you can't be too careful, the dumb assed pointing box counted down to zero and it became apparent that I am going to have to use the force instead, but then the sound of a stampeding cacher started to get closer so I had to stop fluffing about and get it on.....
It's "red mist" time.....
Luckily for me, the red mist worked a treat and there the cache was, right in front of my face....Woo-Hoo!
So with a casual "found it", I calmly made my way back up to the group with a smug look on my face and to much applause and fanfare from everyone........well, sort of......more like, "is that it?"
So the log book was held aloft in triumph and the blank page scribbled on with my name, with a nice spot left underneath for my competition who had now joined in on the fun.
I then rehid the container, and with all the frivolity over and done with, the serious business of assaulting the mountain began again in ernest, and we all wandered off chatting and oooohing and aaahhing down the trail.....and up the trail, and down the trail, and up the trail....etc, etc.

So in summary.....

Thanks for an awesome effort.
