I used to fish here with my dad growing up. Because of geocaching I returned and was reminded of the beautiful location TFTC
Tasmania Trip Day 7. I only stayed in Queenstown overnight, but I got a great feel for the place and would love to spend more time here. My target today was Hobart, but although the total distance did not seem too high, the nature of some of the roads and the lack of towns made for a longer sparser trip than I had expected. There were plenty of great nature spots along the way and when I did at last reach a bigger spot, New Norfolk, I had an enjoyable time exploring the town. I had expected more in Hamilton, but alas did not even get lunch there. After getting into Hobart I checked into my motel in Battery point and headed out on foot. I visited the coastal section of the pint end finished in Salamanca place for dinner and a few virtual caches before heading back up the hill to my accommodation.I had an enjoyable explore of the weir and lake as I visited a few caches here before getting going again. Thanks for the cache Tassie Trekkers45936.5 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Ghost Jeep #3 A#45**Albida**
Headed into the park to think about walks for our return to the area. It was a glorious day at the lake. Nice quick find here exactly where the hint says not sure why there are so many logs saying the coords and hint are out. TFTC
No joy at the initial co-ordinate so widen the search area and found the cache. TFTC
Tftc. Well on wild cold windy afternoon I almost didn't try to find this one given the recent history of DNFs but thought what the heck I may as well give it a go. To my surprise I found it quite easily. I think the GPS is a bit off but it does come down to the matter of pillars and posts.
As per the hint I lifted every rock within ~10m radius of the GZ, but nothing was found.
Yeah definitely consider all of the possibilities here with the hint got it after a short search, tftc!
Located with RNZ After RNZ getting a little confused & mixing up pillars & posts we located this one in the very obvious spot. Fav point from me for cool location Day 6 of the Tassie/Sydney trip & we are in Lake St Claire. Day started off with Wombat & Wallaby cuddles, then 2 very beautiful but wet & wild short walks around Lake St Claire. Magic day, but parts of it I had to dig deep because of the weather!TFTC
Misinterpreted the hint here by confusing pillars with posts, but we got there eventually. We drove to this one after we had done our walking for the day.TFTC Tassie Trekkers.
Gave this one a really good go but no luck. Will be back again for sure as it is a cool place to visit.
Took a bit to find until Mr Shadow looked on the other side and found near a puller not a post. Great lagoon and the sound of flowing water. TFTC
Cool location.. good hint. Bridge well supported, hand rails not as important if you're stuck with hint.
I found a peaceful part of Clair and I gave her a wave.
The water is so clear and the sound it makes passing by this point, it’s all very relaxing.
Today I’m heading to The Wall to look at the amazing work of Greg Dunken. I visited The Wall 4 years ago and it was still being worked on. I can’t find the words to even start to describe how amazing these carvings are, you really have to see it for yourself.

Well the clue said the 4th pillar but that's not where I found the little dear! After a protracted search I finally located it. Log signed and cache put back in place according to the hint. TFTC
Nice find. Lovely walk across the dam. Saw a wriggle stick on the carpark side and a few small fish. Tftc
YAY - we found Weir is Clair. Find 2 of Day 6 of our Great Tassie 2023 Caching Adventure. An interesting spot to visit on a foggy morning in mid summer (only 2 deg at the time of logging) . Log signed and we were off. TFHC

Awesome spot. So pretty. Thanks so much. Would not have found this spot without the cache. Visiting from sa
Easy to find, but a favourite because I never stopped at this spot and wouldn’t have if not for the cache! Thanks
Beautiful nature all around an amazing structure. Really interesting and enjoyable to see. Thanks Tassie Trekkers
I love the industrial heritage of this area despite the fact that it is an alteration of the wilderness. The scale of endeavour is just amazing. TFTC
Nice little ride then short walk to this cache on a sunny Sunday afternoon. TFTC.
Found on my way through to the west coast. Thanks for bringing us to this dam and fo the cache.
Continuing on our way around the wild west to action our personal pandemic stimulus package. So obviously we have planned a geo-trail for the next five days. This is one of 29 on our list ...... wonder how we will go ! Day five and staying at Derwent Bridge. No one here due to the covid crisis. makes for quiet uninterrupted caching activities. Snow on the mountains and frigid winds coming down the lake. But there is no such thing as cold weather ..... just inappropriate clothing ! One of four convenient caches in the StClair area. Thanks for this one Tassie Trekkers.
Driving from Hobart to Queenstown, we thought it would be rude not to stop for a few caches along the way. Another very interesting area. The geokids loved running across the weir and finding the cache. TFTC
TFTC quick find, thanks for bringing us to see the weir. Loving Tassie, touring for 6 weeks
On a motorhome tour of Tassie and today we met up with friends Scotjohnos to do The Wall and other sightseeing around the area - and of course to find some caches along the way. Thanks for bringing us to this spot. TFTC
Our first time exploring this area of Tas and what an interesting place to visit, stunning scenery too tftc
A quick find with the good clue on this very warm afternoon. A few fisherfolk nearby but they weren't interested in us. Beautiful spot. TFTC!

Tasmania Day 6: Queenstown - Lake St Clair - Mt Field - Hobart
We made the journey from the West Coast of Tasmania back to Hobart today, which was a very long drive, but brought us some fabulous views and a diversity of trails and waterfalls. The views from Lake St Clair were awesome, along with some of the best waterfalls in Tasmania (Russell Falls is definitely an excellent waterfall). We started off at 9 am and reach Hobart at almost 9 pm, so it really was a grand finale to our Tasmania road trip.
This is the specific log for this cache:
Last cache in the Lake St Clair area. It was a nice little place for a stop, and after crossing the weir, I poked around a little, confusing the meaning of the pillar referred to in the hint. But, with some further poking, the cache was found and logged. TFTC!

A nice find in a fantastic spot. It was freezing today, so we were quick to sign the log and get back in the car. TFTC!

With a couple of weeks annual leave, we have decided to bring ourselves down to Tassie for a break. Why Tassie? We have visited once before and loved it, but didn't have sufficient time to see much, and 2nd, Tassie was the only state/territory that we had not cached in, and 3rd, the weather is cooler than we have been experiencing in Victoria.
Day 4. After a long trip through the Pieman yesterday we finally came to rest at Queenstown and found some accommodation for the night. t was a hot night and we found our room was quite stuffy, with AGAIN no airconditioning (I know, we are spoilt). Left the window open - downside - we were right next to the outdoor area where others looking for a break from the heat gathered with a few cool beverages.
The morning was much fresher, with some showers of rain. Heading inland now after a lovely breakfast at the train station.
Journeyed off our main track to visit the weir.
TFTC, SL and put snuggly back in place.

Found during a fantastic trip touring around Tasmania for the fortnight. Thanks for the cache Tassie Trekkers!
Our last one for today. After encountering a snake yesterday during a hike, I am now very nervous when searching at such places. TFTC
