As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

3236 Not sure what is going on here. I see that cache has been replace albeit in a different place. The coordinates had me 10-12 metres away so ignoring my GPS I searched according to the hint. I soon had the cache in hand. Noted that there was a blank log book there. Returned to its hide. I had just started my return along the track when a muggle and her dog came along. Talk about timing. Thanks for the placement.
oops I signed the log as 30th. I am a day behind.

Hi munkis

It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me within Three Weeks, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Regards,
TheCur8or

suggest this has gone, we checked out the area and their is no cache near the hint item, infact the closest hint items are some 12m from GZ. 30 min search and we had had enough. would suggest this is checked sooner rather than later

We had planned a trip a few weeks ago to Jet Boat down the Whanganui River, something that had been on my to do list for a few years now, and the time had now come to head down to Taumarunui and jump on the water. However while discussing this with C&D we decided to throw in a side mission and try and locate a few caches along the Northern end of the "Forgotten Highway" including Mt. Damper Falls and finishing with a clean out of Taumarunui the night before because as C&D constantly reminds us "sleep is for the weak!".

So we set off at 5.30pm Friday night, with Iammrwalker and Kyb3r in tow heading to the first cache of the trip. This side mission turned out to be very successful with us completing everything we wanted with a few hours of darkness left to grab an hour or two of sleep before making our way to the Jet Boat. We signed the logbooks with HOAC a group caching name we use from time to time. A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found on this side mission.

Had a good look and no luck here. Even expanded the search and nothing found.

Took the kids fishing yesterday and did the Te Maire bushwalk as well to pick up a couple of geocaches there. Thought that this cache would be a quick find, but instead found that vegetation and tree clearing works have been carried out right where the GPS told us the cache is. Please check to see if the cache is still there.

Once we figured out where the actual walkway was (a bit obscured by the long grass), this was a fairly easy find. SL TFTC

I took a stroll down here from towne this arvo Smile
Still trying to overcome the shock of finding meself back in civilization after a day of cruising The Forgotten World Highway Big Grin
I didn't know how big or small,
urban or rural,
Taumarunui was going to be !!

As soon as I saw the 'golden arches' me heart sank Sad
Not a nice quiet, rural towne then ??
Cor !! Culture shock !! [:o]

Down by the river I did find a peaceful spot away from the madness.
A spot where somebody had been living,
but for some reason left a while ago.
And left all their belongings behind,
which are now covered in mud and sand [:o]

As for the cache,
I couldn't find it after 15 minutes of looking around Sad
The clue doesn't help, as I couldn't find any of them either Red Face

DNF - nice little walkway, but seems to be a squatters area too

Another quick stop in Taumaranui on our way home, to grab a treat from the bakehouse & this cache. An easy find this time with the hint & P&PS comment.
Cool little spot by the river; interesting to watch the raft of pumice move. TFTC!

A quick find on a nice little walkway. TFTC

Cool little walkway & spot!! Not sure if it my phone playing up or coords out but it had me within the tideline, so not sure & a DNF for now. Picked up a couple awesome souvenirs though, so Thanks for the cache! Hope to still find it on another trip soon.
edit to fix date & doh! should have read P&P's log & looked harder?! Very Happy

After our visit to Tawhai Falls we decided to take the long way home via Taumarunui to pick up this cache. It was a beautiful morning with thick fog low down in the valleys. We soon found the little walkway and wandered along beside the river. We spotted a likely place although our GPS wanted to lead us towards the water. Our search began but we started to doubt whether we had found the correct clue item, then after a short while we both realized we had actually placed our hands on the hiding spot several times. There it was, safely hidden away. And surprise, another blank logbook! We had thought that we might be following in Size13 footprints. Another FTF. A nice little hidden walkway. TFTC. We've had an enjoyable morning.Big GrinBig Grin
