What can I say about this cache? When I came to Sydney this time I was around 70 caches off my 8000th, and I have thought to what might be the suitable milestone cache. I figured it would be a multi because Id never had a multi as a milestone before.I began this cache yesterday, doing the first five waypoints in the rain. I had to get back for dinner, so figured Id do the rest at stone point over the weekend. After coming into Sydney to go to the Filipino Christmas Market this morning, I figured Id combine completing the Botanical Gardens virtual with some of this. No problem there, finished off that virtual and carried on doing this one afterwards. It took me to a few highlights of this and my last trip, and then somewhere totally new for a final beyond comprehension. It was also nice to see Gazingas name in the logbook on the previous page - she lived in my native London until recently and weve missed each other on the otherwise of the world by a matter of days. I dropped four trackables who just want general travel. Would give you all my favourite points if I could. One of the top two or three geocachers Ive ever done and my 8000th find. 15. november 2024 11.42# 4916Does this magnificent multi deserve a favorite? Indeed YES! First time 'down under' and obviously we should try to find some caches. This one in on top of the Wilson list and was therefore selected as must-find geocache in Sydney - we do not regret our decisionWe are now officially free people - and this is good as we head for New Zealand tomorrowGeogreetings from Denmark Viridis / Peter and Charlotte TFTC

Found with Gazania Rigens as per her log and with even more admiration than usual for her solving skills. It is very hard to write a fully appreciative log for this great cache without giving away unwanted hints for the puzzle. Suffice it to say, however that we enjoyed it very much indeed.I am most grateful for the Governors manumission and a favourite point is the very least I can give for this magnificent cache!

I've been looking forward to finding this cache ever since a friend asked me to double check her numbers and calculations, as she couldn't get a sensible result. As Zouave and I live on the other side of the world, I had to do my research online, and visit the waypoints on streetview. But they gave me a good idea of what we can visit in Sydney over the next few days. The printable worksheet is very well laid out and super useful. I have now given this to my friend so that she can compare her numbers with mine. At the solved coordinates we made a quick find of what was required, and with the help of an online tool we soon knew where we had to go next.I can't go into much detail, but the final container is amazing and not at all what I had expected. Wow! Loved the location too. Thank you for this most excellent cache. FP!

What can I say so much. But Ill keep it simple MARVELLOUS!!A couple of speed bumps along the way but when I reached out to the CO, response was almost immediate and always delightful, helpful and facilitating!! (Especially as I was over for the weekend from SA and wanted to complete it)I wish I could give more than one FP (Id give it 10) The mind boggles at the research and effort that has gone into this. My head aches just thinking about it!!Well done, well done , WELL DONE!!!TFTC

In the city for a bit of work and caching. What can I say about this cache that hasnt been mentioned before or doesnt give too much away for future finders. This has been a WIP for some time now. Whenever I was in the city and with a bit of free time we chiseled away.Today I was able to put the final pieces together. I shared the find with hundreds of others but we never spoke a word. Thanks Calypso. Favourite point for meTFTC

This extensive multi has had me going since version 12 of the worksheet so, with a few changes on the latest version 16, needed to rework (thankfully only a few) numbers before I could finally tick it off my map. While my energy was fading fast (clocked up 16km of walking today!), the hype surrounding the final hide was worth it. WOW! Left a couple of TBs including one that says I hate nanos. Favourite point for a bold and large hide.

Found a large collection of caches during this overdue trip into the city.I had completed all of the ground work two years ago but was unable to make the find due to GZ being inaccessible at the time. While planning my day in the city, I made it a priority to complete this cache after noting that GZ was accessible during my time of visit. I had quite a memorable experience during my attempt to locate the cache! A Ticket-Of-Leave was eventually and thankfully obtained.**'At The Governor's Pleasure' is superlative - It is of the highest quality and surpassed nearly all other geocache experiences.**An absolute must-do for anyone that finds themselves in the Sydney CBD area.A Favourite Point Awarded. Thanks For The Cache, Calypso62!

Found with fitzy_1965 whilst in Sydney for a work awards night overnight. This morning, we decided to do some caching whilst we put a bit of charge back in the car. It was nice to wander around the City (even in the sporadic drizzle) and visiting places I hadn't been for a good number of years.Well, what can you say about a cache when someone puts in so much time and effort. Weirdly, sometimes there just aren't words to describe it. All I can say is that this cache is amazing from start to finish! Thanks Calypso62. Big fav point from me.

Found with minniek during a weekend visit to Sydney.minniek and I are attending a Non-Geocaching Event (a what??) in Sydney this weekend, and we of course grabbed a few caches along the way for International Geocaching Day. After checking out of our hotel this morning and plugging in the car, we wandered around for a few hours cherry picking a few caches. Now this cache we have been working on for quite some time - knocking off a few WPs every trip to Sydney when we had the time. Knowing we were close to the prize we decided to try to finish it off this trip. Once we had sorted GZ came the real fun. Hmm - we wandered around a bit trying to look inconspicuous - and then there the Brits were ! Awesome ! With a bit of stealthyness we recovered the log book which we - finally - stamped !! Replaced everything as found, then got out of dodge and breathed a sigh of relief ! Completed !As many other people have said, one Favourite point isn't enough for this cache. After 35k+ caches found, this one is certainly Top 10 material. Thank you so much Calypso62. Favourite Point.

Straight off the bat I need to say this cache deserves a FP with 5+ stars .At a recent event the CO encouraged me to do this cache which I must admit I have stayed away from because it appeared to be a difficult task well at least for me!The CO offered that he would take the journey with me and be my checker at each WP.So, at the planned meeting point at WP1 the CO immediately suggested I would be William Horatio Brown (b 1783) for the journey we are about to undertake. William Horatio Brown his recorded occupation was comedian. In May 1807 at the Old Bailey, he was convicted of bigamy. Indicted for feloniously intermarrying with Rebecca Willmot, spinster, his former wife being then alive. His sentence was 7 years in the colony. It was real bonus having the CO with me as I progressed from WP to WP. Not only did he check my calculations- yes, I did manage make some errors! But at each WP I received a memorable history concerning the actual site. COs knowledge about Sydney s colonial history just made this cache so special for me. As we made the long journey around Sydney from WP to WP the early history of Sydney kept flowing, I had my own tourist guide, pointing out features I was not fully aware of such as the homeless statute on the bench at St James church a place I walked past many times but never noticed! To assist in completing the task in hand, the printable worksheet was a must a further 5+ stars for this very worthwhile tool. The walk around took well over 5 hours to complete, from Botanical gardens, Opera House, The Rocks, and other areas within the city. I can understand some previous finders did it in stages but I enjoyed what I managed to do in the time spent. GZ was the wow point of the cache. No spoilers here but lots of thought and planning went into what awaits the finder at the end of the journey. Even with plenty of muggles at GZ no one appeared to be interested what I was doing very tempted to yell out- Im free as I retrieved my ticket of leave but that would not be allowed here. So, if you are reading this log and your wondering should I do it just do it I thoroughly enjoyed the experience best cache I have done to date Thank you for the cache Calypso62 it was fun! You did Good !

I have found a few geocaches over the years, some great. But this has to be the most comprehensive, well thought out, entertaining and informative cache I have ever seen. I was extremely lucky to have the cache owner and developer give me a personal tour of it to boot! He walked me through its many stops and pointed out many other caches as well. He gave me a day long caching tour of this amazing city and even bought me lunch for crying out loud! Truly this has been a high point of my visit and a magical moment for my caching experience. I highly recommend this to everyone and give it a favorite point. If I could give it a hundred favorite points, I would. Thanks for a fantastic cache and day!!!

We were visiting the Sydney CBD and reminiscing about favourite geocaches including this one we found and logged in November 2016. As we approached GZ a familiar shimmery wrinkle descended and, just like back then, we were thrown into the CTT (Caribbean Time Teleporter). Former convict Garry was looking decidely staid after eight years as a free man and access to regular haircuts. He had set up his print shop and had returned here to make a few sketches of this memorable place. We revisited the special document place and marvelled once again. We concluded our visit and passed back out through the shimmery curtain headed down to C Quay for a ride back home. You wouldnt believe who we met there. TFTC!!! Cheers Gaztek

Wow, what can I say! Thank you for all the effort you put into this Cache! I learnt quite a lot and a few early mistakes really taught mw how to enter the coordinates correctly! Took about 5.5 hours with one 40 minute detour, but totally worth itThe end was incredible and totally worth the adventure! Thank you again!

Took 4 visits to complete this epic adventure. Great tour around the CBD with bdp (see her log for details) There are too many distractions to do this multi in one day. Too bad I can only award one fav point.

Wow. What can I say about this one? This was one of the first caches that was highly recommended to when chatting at my first local event after moving back.I've had my eye on it and have been in the vicinity multiple times with our steady stream of muggle visitors. Finally a cacher visited. Day 1 We started by taking a bus from home which just happens to end in Hyde Park.We got waylaid by many a cache and adventure labs along the way as well as some sight seeing and lunch, more other caches, exhausted feet and grabbed a ferry home.Day 2 vowing to be more focused, ha ha ha, we drove to the next wp area only to be thwarted by a race in progress. Tried several times and finally changed course for the time being. Managed to nab a few Ferry McFerry rides though. Now thanks to the time change it's dark but we persevered and at least progressed a few more wps before heading home exhausted. Day 3 yet another drive into the area. Hit a few more wps which we thought were heading us in a direction but again we got sidetracked by other caches with fav points. Our visitor now only has 2 more days in Australia so we need to focus. Gathered more info, caches, lunch, a schooner, then the car. Not necessarily in that order. The Rocks markets was the shiny object today. Finally wp15. Someone is living there. Hmm. Luckily they weren't home.By then it was late and dark.Day 4 laser focus this time. Took a few rounds to find parking but we did.Followed the hint and found our release papers! Woohoo! Can I give this a FP for each stage.Just amazing!Tftc

Day 21 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're still in Sydney, so no road tripping, instead a lot of walking. There's so much to see here! And what we love so far, a lot of the caches have very precise hints, very tourist friendly. Today's plan is the Sydney Tower and the zoo, of course again with some caches in the mix. Wow, we loved this multicache - although we feared the tasks with the words are error prone, in fact they are not - all words were absolutely easy to find and to identify. We had a handy tool to ensure the word values were correct. Did the first 5 stages on day 1, stages 6 to 14 on day 2 and this morning 15 and the final. We had already assumed such a huding place, but the final cache is really special. Cool! Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo

What can I say??This has been an amazing journey back in time through modern Sydney.I have lived in Sydney for 42 years and this multi has taken me to some spots I havent been before: a perfect combination of sightseeing, history lesson and caching. And who took me on this excursion: the man himself - Calypso62. His wealth of knowledge about Sydney and its colonial history is remarkable. Thanks for a great day out!I believe this is a must for any tourist.Calypso62 and I met at 9 am at the published coordinates and walked a total of 12km. On the way I picked up another 11 traditional caches as well! We stopped for morning tea in a lovely caf on the way as well as for lunch at another nice spot and finished the day at 2:30 pm at GZ.I was blown away by the final cache container I can now confirm the other comments: this is the best one I have seen!I was granted my Ticket-Of-Leave and can happily report that I can now enjoy my Geocaching activities within the boundaries and borders of the colony. Also a massive FP from me would give more if I could! TFTC, TFTtime and TFThelp!

Our second day in Sydney. Today we will walk or move around the city by train or bus. We hope to find some previously solved mysteries, old caches, and you could say every cache that comes to our way. Greetings from Finland Thank you for the quick response from the co. Everything went well. This cache was amazing. I would give it five favourite points if I could.

13-Mar-24
Today raija485 and I did a lot of sight-seeing and at the same time, of course, we did geocaching. And getting useful information. We almost get the wp15 but there were some constructions going on and critical area was fenced. Many thanks to CO who helped us to the next step. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland! Definitely earns favoritepoint.

Wow, what an amazing multi cache, very deserving of all the favourite points. I completed this multi cache over 3-4 trips to the city and loved seeing all the stages this cache took me. Having now collected my ticket of leave, I guess now it's time to start another multi with many many stages. The cache container and hint for the final stage were amazing. It's such a shame I forgot to bring some trackables to put into this cache, only realising when I got to the cache.

Staying in Sydney for a few days. We set out bright and early once again this morning. Today we primarily focused on the CBD area, the weather held up brilliantly and made the perfect day for caching.WOW what a cache. We had completed most of the adventure from previous visits up until the last and physical waypoint. With the codeword found and instructions deciphered, we headed to GZ which was insanely busy. The container is incredibly well crafted, one of the best we've ever found, if not the best. Signed the journal and grabbed our ticket of leave which we opened and signed once we got back to our accommodation tonight. An incredible journey, definite FP worthy. Thanks for the cache

A shame you can only award 1 favourite point! Started my journey for this one more then 2 years ago. On several caching visits to Sydney I was able to make slowly progress and visiting all waypoint sucking in all the history lessons. A very well themed multi this is. Needed some help along the way, manly because of my dodgy math skill, or was I just rushing things?Yesterday only WP 15 and the final left. Again a little struggle at a very obvious wp15, but it goes with the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed going to GZ and finally logging the cache, great place to visit with the warm and humid temperatures! Seemingly nobody was interested in what I was doing and i took my time inspecting the container, almost a work of art itself. If caching was always like this, I would be even more hooked then I am already.A massive thanks to the CO for putting this together!TFTC Wilbert67

Finally found it!FP AwardedOCW GeoLorikeet Our favourite geocache The adventure first started on Sunday the 17th December 2023Mission IWe were in the city today so I decided it would be a good idea to get a start on this cache.Mission IIWe forgot about this for a while until Sunday the 14th of January, 2024 so after successfully finding FerryMcFerrycache, we decided to come here and do this cache.Mission III - Waypoint 2-5At waypoint 2, the coords were off by a lot but we ended up getting itAt waypoint 3, a nice plaqueAt waypoint 4, interesting locationAt waypoint 5, it was behind the fence but we still got itAfter working out waypoint six, we realised it was a bit further away but ok anything for a geocache.Mission IV - Waypoint 6-9At waypoint 6, info quickly gatheredAt waypoint 7, info was found after a Looooooooooooooooooong hikeAt waypoint 8, great viewsAt waypoint 9, GeoLorikeet got tiredAfter GeoLorikeet got tired of walking around, we got lunch and had a break.Mission V - Waypoint 10-13At waypoint 10, interesting displayAt waypoint 11, we couldnt have counted the bars if that bird was not thereAt waypoint 12, info quickly foundAt waypoint 13, cool structureMission VI - Waypoint 14Now waypoint 14 deserves a favourite point alone. It was EPIC! I wont mention more about it as it could be a potential spoiler but Ill tell ya it was EPIC!Mission VII - Waypoint 15 Part 1Arrived at waypoint 15 but couldnt find anything. So sad to log a DNF. GeoLorikeets Fitbit said we walked 23,000 steps or 23 kms and it was all for nothing. A quick message to the CO confirmed it was missing so then it got disabled SadMission VIII - Waypoint 15 Part 2After the Waypoint 15 container had been replaced we once again set out to Waypoint 15 after the BOC event in Newtown. We entered the code word we found (which is actually 3 words merged into one) into certitude but it said no. A quick message from the CO said the certitude had an issue and that it was now fixed. This morning, I entered the code words into certitude and finally got the final.Mission IXThis afternoon we got to GZ for a 10 minute search and what do you know, WE FOUND IT!! Creative container that must have taken ages to build.Mission XFinally after finding the cache, we signed the beautiful convict logbook which I heard came from the United Kingdom. Logbooks should not be this nice. Mission XII found it and my log is in the convict logbook. Once again, amazing cache here and I will remember this for years to come!TFTC, TFThelp, TFcheckingwp15, TFchecking certitude, Massive FP proudly awarded.PS: I heard this took a YEAR to make

An update to this cache has been completed. There's now a Final Code Word at Wp15 for you to discover and enter into the Certitude checker in the description. If you have the correct code word, Certitude will give you the GZ coordinates and a coded message that will tell you how to find and access the cache. Good luck.

Got to waypoint fifteen but couldntt find anything. I did find a cable tie with no bison so maybe muggled? Probably worth a check

Following correspondence with GeoMonkeyAU, Wp15 has gone AWOL. I will be updating the method used to locate this cache. In the interim, geocachers can continue to gather the information at Waypoints 1 to 14 using Worksheet v15 or v16.

Wow. It is very interesting to know about his history's. We enjoyed wandering Sydney. Took us to complete the 15 waypoints - 5 days. Included caches and adventure lab, of course. FP from me x10

15-Nov-23
phew.what an adventure this multi cache is.i started out a good few days back and sorted out the first few waypoints.then it led me somewhere that i was not anywhere near, so left it for another time.then another adventure saw me solving more waypoints and learning more about governor macquirie an' his lady.a missing waypoint had me in circles for ages in paradise which the reclining muggles found most amusing. a paf to the cache owner helped immensely and put me back on track. (thankyou!)then another day saw me solving a bit, then it fell apart a little and had me scouring where i needn't be. sigh.another paf saw the error of my ways (i blame the heat ) back i went to somewhere i know well now for the correct info.then a couple more stages... phew. saw me fiiinally decoding nonsense.which took me to a place packed with muggles, that luckily were busy absorbed in their own activities which left me free to find, marvel at and sign the log. i was even able to collect my shore leave and declare myself a free citizen of this fair colony.phew.i almost broke at some point. soo happy to be able to put this one to rest.thank you so much Calypso62 for raising the bar on what a geocache can accomplish. *tips hat**throws a favourite in the air*

13-Nov-23
I've been alerted to an issue with Wp7 that prevents people from progressing with this cache hunt. In the interim, please check the **Wp7 Spoiler Photo** in the gallery for the information you need.

Found it, it was awesome! Great cache, loved every step of it, what a finale!

Woohoo! Finally nabbed my ticket of leave. The governor is a very hard task master, but I got there after 3 attempts. I did the majority on day one, but ran outta time, as I was trying to do AL'S multis and trad, as well as this one, all at the same time. Came back day 2 and managed to find an old waypoint 15, as I cannot add up, so paf a finder from years ago. But things have changed since then. Finally did wp15 today, then the final, which was the most nerve wracking cache I have ever done. Full I say, the place was packed, and with the CO's words ringing in my ears " don't worry bout them none" I did what was required which turned quite difficult, but I was not leaving till I had it in my hands. Thanks for your help, patience and of course this incredible cache. 160 fans, and probably 160 finds. As others have said, if I could give it 10, I would. Nuff said.

Well, well, well… what’s there to be said about this one? I am a sucker for strongly thematic caches, and one that really tells a strong and coherent story from start to end. It’s a shame that long Multicaches like this one turn many a visiting cacher off because it sometimes is quantity over quality. But, I say, “¿por que no los dos?” - or “why not both?”. It does take quite a lot of pre-planning and planning to pull off such a caper, and I do love the challenge of pulling something like this off.

Anyway, it took many hours and quite a bit of footwork, both back home and in situ, to clear the waypoints one by one. And, it all came to a head on Monday when I passed by WP15 and got the message from the man himself about what needs to be done. So, I sent the partner back to the hotel, and cracked the code in comfort, and saw where it led me. Coincidentally, an acquaintance from his own event in Singapore was in town, and he messaged me about an unrelated matter. I asked if he’d like to join me in the final heist, and he happily agreed.

So we met at GZ, and headed in to claim our prize. It was his “lock-picking”^ skills that got us into the cache and we got our tickets to freedom. Hurrah! We can now gallivant all across New South Wales with impunity after sneaking around all these days! We left the GZ with our new found freedom and proceeded to have a caching spree down in Hyde Park.

Thank you so much for the cache and the design. Again, I only wish a cache of such magnitude can be possible back home. It was fun retracing the history of a young colony, and I do feel I appreciate this city a lot more now. Thanks for the cache, this undeniably deserves all the FPs it can get, but it’s a shame I can only give you one. TFTC!

^we did not actually pick the lock. The tumblers were a wee bit stubborn, and it took some effort to get the thing to open despite having the right combination. Maybe it’s time for some WD40?

Greetings from Ireland - this is a generic log for now until I return home / have WiFi - I want to log all finds now so I don't forget them.

FPs will be awarded at the time of this log (where applicable) so I don't forget.

What a great multi-cache! Have been wanting to find this for a very long time, and having time today, we decided to finally accomplish the mission of finding a 16 stage multi.

Enjoyed walking through all the stages, collecting the needed values and soon we were at the 14th stage, after finding 2 other caches and a lunch break. Sat down, gathered all the numbers together and the location seemed to fit. Off we went to the 15th stage, where luckily it was a quick find. Worked out the secret message and it was onto GZ.

What a container! A perfect end to this great cache! A lot of people at GZ today but nevertheless a quick find with the clear instructions. Would have had a longer look at the container and it’s interior but had to quickly sign and replace to avoid any suspicious eyes.

A super cache, and an even better final. TFTC, calypso62, one of the best caches we have done. Needless to say, FP.

This one was so much fun!! It was a great way to learn the early history of the city. Well worth the back and forth traversals which we resolved to complete on our last day here. We came pretty close to the 5hour estimate… but would not recommend doing it that quickly.

Now we will use our tickets of leave to head home to NYC (tomorrow, after the WWC game today!)

The sign at waypoint 7 appears to be missing, but perhaps it’ll be back after the WWC festivities die down. Otherwise everything was in perfect shape and we didn’t even struggle to find the encoded message (which… we really expected to struggle.) At GZ a very friendly security guard chatted with us about the people that go by. And the box is SO cool, first one like this we’ve ever seen!

Gave this a good crack today. But a few other dnf took too long, and a missing?? sign at Wp7 slowed me down. Got the coords for wp9, but it was getting late. Needed lunch and long train trip home. I will be back. It's been a pleasure so far.

Everything about this cache was amazing and it was a great way to explore the city as a visitor.

I completed the cache over the course of three days. WP 7 was my personal favorite.

I did have trouble finding the last WP and contacted the CO for help. He was quick to answer and really helpful, and I was promptly set back on track.

I’m still fairly new to geocaching but this one is definitely one of my favorites of so far.

Thanks for a great cache.

A maintenance visit to top up the supply of Tickets-Of-Leave. I spent a few minutes reading the logs people have written in the Convict Logbook. It makes for great reading.

We have been working on this huge multi for the last couple of days, fitting it in with other caches, ad labs etc. Wish I had seen the link to the worksheet earlier, instead we relied on a scruffy note book to record our answers.
The multi took us to some interesting locations, some of which we had already visited during the past few days through geocaching.
Final cache was a quick find in a great location, but getting into it took a wee bit longer than we would have liked. Brilliant idea for a multi and what a treat the final was! Left two TBs. TFTC.

#22795. For most of the time we spent working on this cache, (interspersed with lots of other caching) I wasn't at all sure we'd get to the final on this trip. Somehow we got round all of the WPs and our recording keeping was good enough to get us to the final. Brilliant cache container in an amazing space. TFTC.

So excited to have gotten to the end of this adventure today, and it didn't disappoint. Took me a month or two spread across a few city walks. Thankfully got all my numbers right, and proceeded to GZ to find an excellent cache setup. This is the second great series I've finished from the CO now - TFTC and another well deserved FP.

This cache was amazing, definitely recommend it if you have enough spare time.

Today with just being on call decided to do this multi that I had put off for sometime, started out and made the walk collecting the info along the way to places I had mostly been before but still a lovely walk. Finally I got to waypoint 15 after 3hours and solely focusing on this multi. I soon cracked the code and off to GZ, I was glad I completed it at the correct time of day. In I went and what an amazing final, I wouldn’t ha e come here otherwise and the cache blends in so well. Was happy to be able to find it and add my name to the log book. I would say this is one of the best caches I have done across 30,000 finds

Thank you for a great journey fab added

#298 Easily the best geocache I've ever found. Period. The final cache far exceeded everything I expected both in location and craftsmanship. Bravo. I wish I could give more than one favourite point because this cache certainly deserves it!

If the 15 waypoints puts you off, don't let that stop you from doing this cache as the final is totally worth it!

Thank you so much for the placement and a great afternoon of exploring Sydney!

Dropped of TBN1Q5, picked up TBA68F0 and TB97XW1

So daughter has been working down in Sydney for a while and she hasn't gotten a bit lonely. So what do we do..head to Sydney for a week, and definitely some caching.

Did most of the hard work last trip, but it seems we have something wrong. After some help from the CO, we found out what was wrong.

Calculations completed and off to GZ. Final was an easy find.

i am sorry i can only give one favourite point ... this cache deserves one for each wp at least

visited all the wp's and collected our info on the last trip
but we knew we had something wrong
pm to the co and we have three mistakes Sad
1 ... zoom in on word and realise i have a letter wrong
2 ... counted the wrong items, went back next day and two more attempts and oh that one Big Grin
3 ... wrong word ... we are home now and have photos from the same spot for another reason but three photos and none are clear enough ... doh

now to calculate the info ready for next trip ...
nope
now what have i done
has to be in the adding ... or the spelling ... that 3 is going to be the end of me

this trip ...
revisit 3 as i need to see what i did wrong and have the photo of the info for my folder

onto the message

well this is a nice spot to sit and do some working out

YES !!!

off to the final ...
oh i wish i could share the photos and the adventure more but that would spoil it

multi's are our favourite type of cache and this one is a multi to remember

picked up mathew flinders tb and queen of the sky

took hand keyring
left green ribbon

We spent a great day reading about early Sydney history and following the clues all around the city!

Unfortunately Wp14 wasn't accessible at the time but we messaged the CO who helped us out very promptly and we could go back for the final clue and cache the next morning Smile

The cache itself was amazing and great end to the journey. TFTC Smile

On this day ten years ago, a not-so-young muggle named Jeff came across a strange object hiding in plain sight. It wasn't that spectacular, just a film pot under a rock at the base of a light pole, but inside was a scroll of paper, bearing the mysterious code GC45MJE, upon which I carefully wrote, for the first time, "barefootjeff".

Those ten years have passed in the blink of an eye and along the way I've found many wondrous caches and some not-so-wondrous. I've been challenged physically and mentally, pushed outside my comfort zone, somtimes succeeding and sometimes found wanting. Now, a decade on, I decided this would be a fitting cache to mark the occasion.

With an eye on the weather forecast and not wanting to be caught out by any arithmetic embarrassments, I began a day early, visiting each of the locations, finding the clue words and doing the sums. At WP12 I almost came unstuck when a security person told me I couldn't enter the grounds on account of it being a construction site, even though the only construction was a pile of materials stacked along one side, but I was able to convince her to photograph the two signs I could see, hoping the word I needed would be on one of them, and so it was.

WP14 was amazing and worthy of an FP just for that, then after doing all the sums it was off to find the coded message. After photographing it, I returned home on the train, decoding it along the way. With everything ready, I made an early start this morning to try to beat the heat, the plan being to make a quick find then go somewhere on the harbour for lunch. But like all good plans, it came unstuck in the most unexpected way.

Upon reaching GZ and following the instructions to make my way inside, I was immediately approached by the imperialist security guard and told I couldn't be on the premises without footwear. Retreating outside, I headed down to Pitt Street and George Street to try to buy a cheap pair of thongs, but all I could find were designer ones with $100+ price tags. In the end I went down to the quay and took the ferry across to Manly, where I bought lunch and some $9.95 thongs. The things we do for a smiley.

Returning to GZ with the dreaded footwear attached, I was now deemed to be a fit and proper person to enter the sacred domain, where I immediately spotted something fitting the hint. Trying not to make too much noise opening it, I made my entry in the logbook and extracted my Ticket-of-Leave. Yay! I also noted the name of the person of some importance who gave permission for the cache placement, as he and I were good mates at university back in the late 1970s. Ironic that he was barefoot a fair bit back then. Oh well.

In the end, in spite of all my trials and tribulations, this was a fantastic cache and I'm glad I picked it for my milestone. Many thanks to the CO for all the effort that went into its creation.

After my walk around completing this cache with moss2s from Spain, I have made a slight adjustment to one of the waypoint coordinates. As a result, make sure you are using Worksheet (v14) for your calculations.

Thank you so much for your generosity of time, laughs and stories.

Wow!!! What a piece of work this was by the creator and most incredible teacher oh and Cache Owner!!!
If you have a day to spare, please make this a priority when in Sydney, you won't be disappointed.
We learned so much and had the most glorious weather to accompany us on our pre-Christmas journey with Calypso62.

Sydney ROCKS!!!

Wow, I absolutely understand the love that surrounds this cache!

I completed it over several work lunch breaks, and reached the wonderful GZ today. The cache itself is so worth the journey, and I felt a strange elation as I spotted it - hidden in plain sight.

This is one I'll talk about for a long time to come. Big thanks to the CO for providing such a happy experience. Definitely a favourite point from me to add to the collection.

I've left a travel bug that was sent on its way a couple of years ago by a kid in New Zealand who wants it to reach Grandma in England! I'm hoping that it can be collected by someone who can nudge it further in the right direction.

This cache has got a bit of a legendary reputation - I had a crack at it a few years ago, but between some WPs moving etc thought it'd be good to start fresh. My interest was recatalysed after a chat with the CO at an event.

Had a rare week off so made it my mission to knock this one off - last Friday met a friend for lunch, and managed to gather all WPs by foot between about 2pm and 5pm. For various reasons had to head off and was unable to get to the final.

Today was another beautiful day, and grabbed the final and some other caches. I have to admit at GZ the cache was right under my nose but still took time to spot.

Won't spoil too much about the journey but this is truly the quintessential cache for any tourist. Make a day of it, is well worth it (as a Sydney local there were a few WPs that I had never visited).

All in order with the cache... what fun - an obvious favourite here!

Find 13 of 13 for the day. The big event of the weekend was in the evening, Colin Hay in concert at the Recital Hall, but before that we made At The Governor's Pleasure our focus for the day.

This was the big one in all senses. We were very lucky to be able to call on a previous finder at short notice, when the info at WP7 appeared to be missing. We would have worked out WP8 anyway but then our value for G might have been slightly out. We got back on track anyway. We've probably been to most of these WPs before but this time we looked properly where previously we probably did not. Having read The Australians by Vivian Stuart, which weaves some historical fact and dramatic license around those early days, these locations were all very poignant. Added to a bit of a puzzle at WP15 and an outstanding final cache, there's no doubt why this is almost always favourited. Have another with our thanks!

TFTC Calypso62!

Oh my word, what a geocache.

I started this when I arrived in Sydney a couple of weeks ago and steadily worked my way through it, enjoying each waypoint for what it is. I made a horlicks of one waypoint, the CO putting right my dodgy arithmetic. Back in Sydney after a short break in Cairns t finish things off. Sat in the shade to do the workings from the bison contents and then everything fell perfectly into place. Magnificent final location and what can you say about the final container. One of the easiest fave points I've ever awarded. Great also to get a 'large' container here in Oz.

Bravo to the CO for this stonker of a cache

What a journey - which started on 18 September following an Insects and Reptile show at the Australian Museum with the grandchildren. One calculation seemed to suggest I would need to swim to the wp, but helpful advice from the CO put me back on track on dry land. I was delighted to complete the challenge and sign the log this morning and in keeping with the theme, I include a photo of myself in period costume from 2016, when I was administering justice at a historical re-enactment activity at the Scout Jamboree. Well done Calypso62!

Wow!! What an epic cache and an amazing finale'. So worthy of a Geocache of the month, year, decade, century and millennia!
I commenced tracking down the clues nearly two years ago with various lunch time walking excursions, which often required return trips on Public transport to get back to meetings on time. There also a couple of quick motorbike stopovers on the way home to steal another clue. The CO was always very willing to confirm my discoveries and calculations as well as offering ongoing encouragement. When I was half way through this marathon and was about to hit the wall after discovering there were still 20 million waypoints to collect, C62 was unflappable in his cheeriness and support.
Unlike many other recent city cache adventures, I was not accosted by any undesirables, involuntarily inhale illicit substances or encounter strange coconut smelling women or had to put myself in dangerous situations except at GZ, where I was terrified of making too much noise.
A fabulous cache and caching adventure!!
Gets a favorite point of course

Thanks, we had a marvelous tour through the heart of Sydney, learning about the history along the way. Thanks also for helping out at wp14 where we arrived after hours. We could complete the cache this morning, collect our ticket in time and fly home. Great finale! We had crossed here before but hadn't guessed what was inside.

Wow! Such an amazing experience and cache. I had a good idea where the cache was at GZ but with so many people around I was not tempted to grab at first. I admit I did talk to security before grabbing but no one around seemed the wiser to what I was doing. I completed this over four seperate attempts to collect the information, over a few months when I was around the city. The first day I started, I only had about 50% battery and no powerbank on me. I didn't have a pen on me either so went to a convenience store to buy one so I could work out the numbers easier on paper. I conserved my battery as much as I could until it died fully. Then headed for the bus excited to come back another day. Day 2 I started the next stages before work to finally compete all but the final stage to get the message. Today Day 3, I headed out before work to get the message, decoded that and then finally after work went in search of the final cache location. What an adventure and I have to admit I had a huge smile on my face holding that final ticket to leave and felt a huge accomplishment finishing this off. Thanks so much Calypso62, so much work and effort (and convincing Wink ) must have gone into this cache.

We have had a brilliant day walking around, searching for all the locations and numbers to find the cache. We were very lucky to meet the CO by his cache near the art gallery when we first arrived in Sydney; he told us about this special multi cache and offered to accompany us while we completed it. All the waypoints were interesting and it was extremely helpful having the CO there to confirm our calculations were correct. We also found some other caches on the way. It was a lovely, sunny day and a fantastic walk, which included some well known tourist spots as well as more secret locations. We completed the cache in about 4 1/2 hours with coffee and lunch stops en route. The final cache was absolutely amazing; the best cache we have ever seen and in a great location. All in all a wonderful caching experience. Hopefully we will see the CO in the UK soon and be able to show him round some of our caches!
Obviously a favourite point. Dropped off a geocoin and picked up a travel bug which we will help on its way back home to Belgium.
Many thanks to Calypso62 for his help and all the effort that has gone into the creation of this cache.

Well that was an excellent cache!!

I think it’s taken me the better part of a year to slowly tick off each waypoint. I took a few goes to find the final cache at the GZ - some times of year have more muggles than others and I wasn’t feeling very stealthy at the time.

Once I made the find and signed the gorgeous logbook I took a few minutes to enjoy this place that I never otherwise would have come to. Thanks for an amazing cache Calypso62!

Wow! What a day. We did not expect to finish all the waypoints in one day, but here we are. What a beautiful walk around Sydney - and a long one too. We’ve clocked 17.5k steps today, as of right now sitting here making this log. We collected our waypoint numbers by 2:30 and we thought one of our numbers looked a bit…funny as (the coordinates were taking us into the ocean). We sat down, recalculating the maths, as Leanne got into contact with the CO and we found one wrong number and we were quickly off to the final WP. with the final clue soon in our hands, Leanne did the final puzzle and we were on our way to GZ. What a fabulous location and I have never found such a cache before. It was simply beautiful. Definitely my favourite cache so far!

What a fantastic multi! My daughter and I spent the day walking the streets of Sydney following the clues ( and picking up some other caches along the way). After a small mathematical error was corrected ( after a wonderful phone call to the CO) we eventually had log book in hand. We have so far clocked up 17500 steps and now have to head home with our ticket of leave! Thank you Calypso62 for putting this together.

What a fantastic adventure we went on to find this cache. It was a great history lesson and took us to beautiful locations. Had a great day. We were lucky enough to be accompanied by the CO who gave us extra historical information along the way. Absolutely loved the final cache and the location of it

Found at 2:48 pm.
Off on our next day for the quest for a golden dragon with Fleabag and a beautiful sunrise greeted us as we headed off. A bit chilly and windy to start but at least the rain had stopped.
Well this cache has taken 1 work trip and now this my second holiday to complete.
What an absolutely awesome cache at the end. I am very impressed. I wish I was that creative. A favourite from me.
Thanks Calypso62 for the cache, the ad
venture, the hunt and the fun.

Find number 6199

After gathering the information over several weeks we teamed up and took advantage of the free travel weekend and walked around to the GZ to find the cache. We looked for a bench that has now been removed and confirmed with security that the area was where we should be.

What a fabulous cache and a much loved and respected location.

Thanks Calypso62 for placing this cache.

This is find number: 6022
Streak Day: 2312

Found today with Snoopy1976, The Booos, Booo Booo and Booos2. After working on this multi for the last couple of years, walking all over the city to gather the information required. We decided to make a trip into the city today, and why not with free travel at the moment. after arriving at GZ, we were searching high and low until one of the team said is that it over there, and yes it was. A wonderfully created cache container, after getting the lock to open we signed the log book and retrieved our tickets of leave.

Thanks to Calypso62 for placing and maintaining this cache. A favourite point from me

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.

It has taken me 3 visits to Sydney to visit all the waypoints and obtain the keywords. I would easily have walked a half marathon in distance. A couple did change between visits so I had to retrace my steps a few times.

As a history buff I enjoyed learning all the stories about the convict colony at each waypoint. There was an even a waypoint with close ties to Norfolk Island. And the final location and cache size were amazing.

This is the the best multicache cache that I have ever done. A well deserved favourite point from me

Macquarie's Secret Message at Wp15 has now been replaced at a slightly new location. The information and hint to locate the new coordinates has been updated both on the cache page and the worksheet. The latest worksheet you should be using is v13 (Version 13).

Please Note:

I've received information that GZ for this cache is current inaccessible and will remain so until early February.

I've decided to leave At The Governor's Pleasure in play so that cachers can still do the legwork required to discover the location of the cache. Once GZ can be accessed again, I'll post an Owner Maintenance log indicating such.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Wow! I came across the first point last year while I was in the city doing jury duty and looked through the description making a note that I would need a print out for the whole thing. That was about a year and a half ago. In that time I have been persevering through the Australians series by Vivian Stuart which tells of the early settlement in Sydney so it was good to actually visit some of these places. Today was my last day off before returning to work and I woke up thinking this cache had todays name on it. Parked in the domain and took advantage of the $12 parking I set about my way. GZ is absolutely amazing and I had been there about 20 years ago with my dad once. Chasing this cache through the city I really did feel like Indiana Jones (in leggings with a camelbak) and between the last two waypoints I actually ran most of the way so I would have enough time to look if I had to. I had help from CO at WP5 and 14 - thanks Calypso62 for helping out quickly. All hints, clues and instructions straight forward. I can see why this one has so many FP- add another from me. TFTC

#12379 - 1:37:00 PM; In Sydney for a few days with the geohoney. Left her in the CBD for some retail therapy while I headed out for a spot of caching. Today's mission was to finally log this big multi I started some four years ago, pick up some Adventure Labs and any other caches in the areas I found myself in. Well, this was a bit like the final of The Amazing Race. After X visits over 4 years, I finally reached GZ, grabbed a couple of TB's, dropped a couple, grabbed my ticket of leave and added my name to the log book. Shame I can only add one favourite point for this one. Started off some 4 years ago, then hit a snag when I used my original listing, only to contact the CO and find the listing had changed. Resumed the hunt next visit and 'solved' the final clue over a beer at The Rocks. COVID intervened and delayed the return visit for the grand finale until today! Not sure what the student muggles seated behind me close to GZ thought as I undertook the last part of the ritual, but who cares, I made it! What a terrific cache and a definite 'MUST DO' when in Sydney, even if it takes some time Wink. TFTC Calypso62 Smile

Now that the NSW Government is beginning to ease lockdown restrictions, it’s time to bring my caches back into play.

Just a reminder, a fundamental rule of geocaching is that, in order to be able to log a cache find online, you must retrieve the cache container and sign the physical log located in that container. Failure to comply may result in your online log being removed.

I know the Covid virus is still about so please take precautions to keep yourself and those around you from harm by doing things such as wearing gloves to handle geocaches as well as using hand sanitiser regularly.

Keep safe everyone and enjoy your geocaching activities.

Cheers,
Calypso62

The Covid situation in Greater Sydney is still critical. As a result, this cache remains disabled for the time being. I'm monitoring the situation and will bring the cache back online when appropriate to do so.

11-Jul-21
To help stop the spread of Covid-19, the NSW Government has ordered everybody to stay at home unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education.

While some people would regard going geocaching as a form of exercise, it is my personal opinion that this activity is a non-essential one, perhaps involving unnecessary travel and therefore should not be undertaken during this time of crisis.

Who knows how long this current lockdown will last! Right now, every one of us has an important part to play in helping to keep our families, friends and the wider community safe in the fight against the spread of Covid-19, by staying home.

As a result of the health authority’s directive, I have decided to disable this cache and respectfully request that no person seek out and claim a find whilst this cache is disabled.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to bringing my caches back into play as soon as the health crisis abates.

Regards,
Calypso62

So i had been eyeing this cache off for years. It was always on a to do list but i never found the time. Well....my mate joegleeson_25 and an RDO and we hadn’t caught up for a while so i suggested we head into the city and give this one a crack.

Well it didn’t disappoint! Some great locations, the history i learnt about my own city, fantastic worksheet and everything just so well planned and thought out! It’s what caching is meant to be!

We went on the journey and enjoyed the spots and the opportunity to explore and chat. The final.....wow....just wow! how even?!?

This is a must do cache for every boast. TFTC and add yet another fav point!
