I had a few hours spare to walk around to find a few caches and look at the sights of Rome before we had to fly home and I headed to this interesting spot. I approached from the top of the stairs so I had to calculate the location from the hint.
Cache was quickly found. I had to wait for a muggle to enter the gate before I could replace it.

Hop on - Hop Off Runde mit Zwischenstation Trevi Brunnen. Dann ein wenig von den Menschenmassen weggegangen um einige Caches zu suchen. Diesen konnte ich gemeinsam mit a.do. relativ schnell finden. Danke und liebe Grüße aus Österreich
After a whole week of hard work in Rome, I had the morning off to do some geocaching before returning to Norway. I had a 4 hours walk in some well known as well as some new places. Despite some DNFs, I found more caches than expected.
Despite coming down the stairs, I was able to find the right step and the cache as well.

A short post-Easter vacation in Rome with the entire family begun with a conflict of interests. But now after lunch and a short break at the apartment, we split up based on interests which resulted in a geo-walk. 
Since we stay near this cache, it was chosen to be the first on the walk. Nice to be a little off from the main tourist paths, both from a noisy perspective and from the perspective to avoid mugglers. Thanks to the hint the search area was minimized to where the electronics pointed out the cache to be. The log strip was found in a little un-conventional protection shell. No problem to log and put back without being disturbed by people.

First day in Rome with HerIndoorsOutdoors, visiting from Australia, and it was a short detour from our walk from the hotel to the Pantheon to hunt for this cache. We found something that didn't quite match the hint, but it had a log previously signed, so did the same and re-hid as we found it.

Looked for on a trip to Rome with Awkeye and Bloodsock. Whilst I am pretty sure that we werein the corrcect location none of us could find the container. Just hope the next visitors have better luck.

Je me suis fixé comme objectif de faire 12 nouveaux pays cette année. Après Lisbonne le mois dernier me voici à Rome et au Vatican... 2 pays d'un coup!

Après une semaine assez dure au boulot me voici en train de prendre un peu l'air dans la capitale italienne.
Comme les statistiques ne sont plus importantes pour moi, je vais en profiter surtout pour flâner un peu et faire juste quelques caches ici et là!
Donc pas de chiffre ce werk end, mais surtout faire honneur aux quelques mystères résolues depuis la France avec parfois l'aide et les encouragements de ma géocopine Anne!
Loin du froid et du gris de la Franche Comté, ça me fait plaisir de redécouvrir cette très jolie ville et de déguster de bons petits plats italiens accompagné d'un superbe brunello di montalcino!

Diky za pohodovou kesku, kterou jsem odlovil spolecnes s GeoCule, pri nasi (jiz tradicni) narozeninove mikro dovce. Rim, jako takovy, je neskutecne krasne mesto, ktere nas privitalo (oproti nasemu) krasnym slunecnym a teplym pocasim. Byla radost tady stravit 4 dny a doufam, ze jsme zde nebyli naposledy Danke very moc a posilame pozdrav z Ceske republiky

Après un passage devant la fontaine de Trevi où, a défaut de prendre un bain comme Monica, nous avons pris un bain de foule, nous pensons pouvoir retrouver un peu d'espace à la recherche de cette cache. Las, un groupe de jeunes russes est installé sur la 12ème marche.La seule solution : une initiation au géo-caching et c'est avec un renfort de 3 ou 4 d'entre eux que nous nous mettons en quête. Pas si facile la petite et la déception qui s'installe est encore plus forte chez nos néophytes. Heureusement je finis par mettre la main sur le détail qui permet d'extraire le trésor sous les applaudissements. J'ai oublié de demander à notre traductrice si elle s'appelait Nathalie. Le géo-caching c'est aussi ça le plaisir de ces rencontres inattendues.

On August 24 Geocaching HQ announced:
Geocaching HQ is thrilled to announce the release of Virtual Rewards, a project to reward some of geocaching’s great contributors, while also introducing a limited number of new Virtual Caches for the enjoyment of the entire geocaching community.
Starting today, approximately 4,000 geocachers in 63 countries around the world will receive emails with information about their Virtual Reward. This group is made up largely of the top 1% of quality cache hiders from countries with at least 100 hiders.
With this statement HQ decided to reward those who in their opinion are "the top 1% of quality cache hiders from countries with at least 100 hiders".
With this they are splitting the geocaching community which was united in three groups:
Those who get a virtual reward.
Those who do not get a virtual reward.
Community Volunteers
The algorithm used to select the top 1 percent is at least a vague one.
For example a geocacher with 5 caches (2 active, 2 archived and one disabled due needs maintenance) got selected as top 1% hider.
Some people who spend a large amount of their time and money on geocache hiding and were not selected as top 1 percent.
People who are according to the Project-GC top hiders lists are very high in the top 1% even the top cachers themselves.
And that is regardless of looking at numbers, logs received, or favorite points awarded.
Anyway people that are really great contributors to the game regardless of how you look at it.
Groundspeak has now decided that they are NOT the top one perccent....
In their mail they use literally the words "The top 1% of cache owners"
Groundspeak should not have drawn the line!

When 4000 new virtual caches are to be created it would have been way better to ask the whole geocaching community for ideas and give every cacher the opportunity to create a listing.
And let the reviewers select only the best ones to be published.
That would give some high quality virtuals. For sure better then the top one percent of a vague algorithm would create. This top one percent was rewarded for creating nice containers.... Exactly the opposite of a virtual.
No algorithm is perfect. And certainly not this one.
If no algorithm is perfect.... no algorithm should be used.
By just giving a few people with a few nice traditionals the option is in the opinion of a large group of cachers not smart.
But the worst thing that HQ did this way was dividing the community in several groups.
We feel sad that a division in groups has been created which nobody wanted.
We would like to see that everybody gets the chance to at least tell about their plans for a virtual.
All geocachers should have equal chances.
And let the best ones be published.
We are hoping HQ will clarify what makes up for a top 1 percent hider. Because we do not understand it.

Auf unserem Roadtrip von Leipzig nach Neapel machen wir 3 Tage in Rom Halt um uns Italiens Hauptstadt anzusehen. An unserem ersten Tag haben wir schon ein paar Sehenswürdigkeiten wie die Spanische Treppe und den Tivoli Brunnen besucht und dabei ein paar Dosen gesucht und gefunden. Diese war auch dabei. Danke fürs Legen!
Tag 8. unseres Sommerurlaubes mit meinem ed83483 Die große Rundreise geht über Deutschland, Schweiz, Frankreich, Monaco und weiter Richtung Italien. Da wo es uns gefällt, da bleiben wir natürlich wurden unterwegs auch ein paar Dosen gesucht und gefunden - diese hier war mit dabei
