Heading home from the CITO/guided walk around the lake, and stopped to collect this. At first I was drawn to one area where I thought something might hibernate, but then spotted something else that looked like a likely place. It was a good job this critter had a bison in its mouth or it might have snapped my fingers off when I disturbed it.There was no log inside the bison for me to sign, and I didn't have any paper left in the car to replace it.
Off to the big city today to catch up with my son whos up from Christchurch. Sunday was a good time to visit as all was very quiet around the GZ. After initially fearing the cache may have become victim to some nearby fence work, I reread the listing and decided to look a little further along. I handled the hibernating critter with care and extracted the cache without waking it. Thanks eyespyben#5352Logged using Cachly.
Nice quick find here today slowly heading home after attending the Covi show tftc
Heading into another weekend and another concert. Off to PINK tomorrow night and we stopped off in Ohinewai to find a couple of caches as the trip has been sooooooo long. All up 7hrs from Taranaki to Pkeno due to roadworks. Worst roadie ever!! Thank goodness for geocaching as a welcome distraction. Pulled up here and after a short search we found the biterafter opening and shaking the log out it instead shook a ton load of water out all over my hands. Ewwww. Seal is missing off the thread unfortunately so will probably keep filling up. Signed our names then made our way back into the traffic jam :/Thanks for helping me strike off streak day #272.
The end of an extended excursion in Northland, heading back to the mighty 'Tron with rattll. Still time to get off the expressway at Ohinewai for a few caches.Made use of the pull-off here to get the campervan off the road. Rattll jumped out to make a quick find. Log dry, all good. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Slowly making our way back towards Hamilton and the end of our couple of weeks 'Northland get away'.We're picking up some caches as we go (as you do).A quick stop and another 'smiley' bagged! Thanks for putting this here
I was out on a mission to drive around the lake take my travelbugs exploring. It was a great day with drive in an area Ive never been in and a successful day of caching. Thank you for bringing me here. A car was parked in the handy parking area and i thought i might have to give this one a miss, but car was empty and no one in sight. Poor voodoo troll got well and truley bitten. House of travel had other ideas and conquered the beast. Curious cows came to pay a visit.
Labour Weekend has historically been a minimum 3 day Team SEAC all out adventure so a little while ago I started planning some fun for us. After a walking day yesterday, today was a driving one and more about the numbers and clearing out an area we have had our eyes on for a while. Ended up being a massive day (left home around 8.30am and got home at 1:40am!)....it wasn't called a Mega Mysterious Weekend for nothing. Enjoyed the fun with friends...just like the 'old' times.
First one on the 24th at 12:04am
Thankfully the guardian didn't bite us and gave up the cache quite easily even though his mouth was taped! Maybe he was sleepy at the time!
Thanks for the cache

In the absence of a MEGA event this Labour Weekend, Keylev had spent some time planning a Mega Mysterious Weekend for members of Team SEAC (a group of cachers from south and east Auckland who often cache together). Today's plan was to head south and find as many caches as we could around the Huntly area. In the group today is HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-Crane, NurseDr, Keylev, UncleSamNZ, Liverkiwi. Logs were sighed SEAC or Team SEAC to save space. It ended up being a long day and a bit - leaving the start point at 9 am and returning home after 1:30 am the following day.
The cache guardian had company in the form of spiders who had spun him a web blanket. We did need to wake him form hibernation to sign the log, but tucked him back in as soon as we could. Found just after midnight

Day 2 of our Labour weekend caching mission, and also happens to be a significant day for me yearly...... Our group decided to head down Huntly way for a good variety of cache types and then head inland and back up to Auckland.....some of use a little jaded from the impromptu high elevation gain hike yesterday, we eased ourselves into search mode.....
Signed is as SEAC to save logbook space and allowing us more time to enjoy the area which surprised us as to how many scenic places are hiding in Huntly....
Thanks to all the CO's for hiding and maintaining caches here.....and to mother nature for the awesome weather we had......
On our way home collecting some adv.lab intel, we gathered a few more trads....Felt like the locals in the paddocks had their eyes on us for this one...
TFTC.

I realised today that had previously found this cache a year ago with my grandchildren. OT didn't bite but we thought the fence might.A great idea loved by the kids who now have their own account.Cheers
Haha, I thought I was going to have to touch the electric fence, hence the "bite" hint. Nice one. TFTC

Yet another quick find, counted all our fingers and toes and managed to get the cache and get away without losing any of them! TFTC

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are on a bit of a Christmas Roadtrip to Ingill & back ... we'll be doing a few geocaches on our travels ... this being the 3rd of hopefully many ... easy parking & a quick find, gets a favourite from us ... good camo, not sure how you got the multitude of spiders to build all the webs there though ... TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,737 for us.
I had been on a weekend roadtrip up to the big smoke to attend a mate's 50th party this evening, but now was the big drive back home. But it's also a great opportunity to try to grab some caches on my way.
It only took me a moment or two to find this cache. When opened, the log was in good condition so I quickly took care of the usual field etiquette before replacing the whole thing exactly as found and getting back to the car to crack on with the day.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Down from Northland for the weekend with the prime objective being to do the Hakarimata Trail. That was delayed a day because of the weather, so we ended up doing the Waikato River walkway and getting soaked in the process. After Team G0LD dried out at the pub, we then headed off for some more caches on the way back to our accommodation.
After a short detour off the main road, we stopped opposite this one, which was a nice quick find in the hint location. Interesting cache container. TFTC

Today I'm starting my road trip home from Auckland to Nelson with my newly acquired convertible cachemobile. I'm going to be finding a few caches along the way. This was the first cache I came to. Parked across the road and wandered over to GZ. Found the cache in the second place I checked. Cute. TFTC, Biggles.
Took a couple of looks between traffic and finally spied it. Didn’t get bitten just dribbled on, lol TFTC
On way home from Auckland had time to stop and collect this great cache, love the hide. Thanks
Boy, is this road busy. Thanks for the warning. There were no tears after finding the cache - just a smile at the cache container. Well placed, and another great cache eyespyben.
On the homeward journey today via a maintenance run on the 309, with a few cache finds thrown in. Haven't driven this road ever so have taken a long detour to make some cache finds. Lol took us a while to locate, after looking on the wrong side, then all around then just when we were about to give up, we spied the sneaky hiding spot. Fun cache. Last one for today and #4500. SL. TFTC.
Wrangled the cache from its guardian. All good here. With rustynz. Busy motorway ahead
Well I braved the busy road, with shark infested waters, when I paddled my Waka to the shore, a marker guided me to a ferocious beast.
Luckily he was tamed, and willingly shared his secrets. The ancient parchment signed, he was getting restless, so time to return to him to their lair, ready for the next intrepid adventurer.
Thanks eyespyben for the fun find, this was the last find for the day, off home

Found it in a SNAP!! Mr 6 said it was the SNAPPIEST cache we've found yet!! TFTC
Yes gwen-o-nator and I had to careful here. Liable to get bitten if you don't get a jump on it. TFTC
Time to start heading down the island towards home in Feilding, however I’m stopping if in Rotorua for a night at the holiday home that they have rented for a couple of days.
I set off early and I didn’t want to spend too much time caching prior to Auckland as I wasn’t sure what the traffic was going to be like through the city. However I decided to grab a few on the way. Got through Auckland in good time and now I’ve got a bit more luxury for some more caching.
A quick find here to find yet a other familiar name from my home region in the logbook. There must not me anyone left in Manawatu and Whanganui this Christmas holidays as they are all caching in Northland and south Auckland TFTC

Last one of ten located, mostly on the Tahuna-Ohinewai Road, as we headed towards SH1 on our way to Auckland. Took a while to find this one. With a car parked nearby, I needed to appear a little subtle in my searching. Spent most of the time looking in the grass at ground level. Enlisted Mrs tbird’s help and she spotted it pretty much immediately! #2137. TFTC.
Back in NZ for a few weeks, done as a drive by on the way from the airport.
A snappy find here, signed the log and replaced as found

On our way to Hamilton from Auckland after dropping Mum off at the airport, we stopped for a couple of caches. Mr nzk spotted this one first and we were able to retrieve and replace it between passing traffic. Thanks for a fun cache container!
I liked the container for this cache, and luckily it didn't bite. Found this one almost straight away. TFTC.
This was another find on my way to the Mega in Wellington with thegreatauk. We were on the road for 10 days and had a great trip. I haven't sorted out the stats for the trip yet as I'm just starting to log them but we found about 250-280 caches including about 90 puzzles, 6 earthcaches, 8 letterboxes, 4 virtuals and a few events. An interesting hide here but not quite the hide vessel that I was expecting, thanks
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. For today we managed 25 which is good. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches.
Yay!
Thanks eyespyben!
Definitely best of day so far!
Made me smile despite being soaking wet!
Favourite!

Tftf done with miss Eva who wanted to pull it out and got greeted to bugs and started screaming haha
On my way to gz a car pulls up behind mine. People get out swearing and yelling at each other. No ones bother with what I'm doing. Lol nice cache and nicely hidden. Tftc
Had to stalk this one in between cars. Spotted something out the corner and directed the kids that way. Much excitement followed! Excellent cache, TFTC!!
On my way home from Auckland and paused to grab a multi on the other side of the expressway. Unfortunately the multi was a miss for me so I ventured over here and grabbed this nearby traditional.
All in good order. Straight forward.
Cheers

Quick grab while on our way to Huntly; GPS was slightly off but noticed it in the second place I looked. Cache is in good condition. TFTC.
Today we headed south to pickup some much needed points for the Planatery Pursuits. With just under 250 points to collect, it seemed wise to head over to the Waikato and make a start on the Eyes series for maximum points.
This was our first stop and the GPS pointed in one direction but found it in the other. A good start here and a cool one to start with. TFTC!

After finishing up work this morning I decided to reward myself with an afternoon drive in the country. This was my first stop. I parked up and crossed the road to access GZ. However, my GPSr wasn't pointing to the correct spot. So after a bit of initial head scratching I stepped back and contemplated the wider area. Decided on a likely looking spot and swooped in for a closer look. This proved a good decision as I was soon signing the log sheet. Cheers for the cache placement!
