After 3027 days or 8 years, 3 months, 13 days I'm archiving Velocipede as I just can't find a suitable replacement cache that made this a special and creative hide. I'd had my eye on GZ for a few years before hiding my cache here. It took ages to get clean averaged co-ordinates and it was a location I spent a fair amount of time passing through or having my lunch while watching the world go by. Back in March 2012 I was with hundreds of others watching a yacht on a fire and it was at that moment that I noticed where I was standing could hide a cache with a little bit of tweaking of a particular type of container I had. Thanks to the 123 finders, their great logs and the 64 of them that left a favourite point. special mention goes to the thousands of people who have had a look at the cache page as I imagine that most of them would have liked to visit Melbourne and maybe find this.

01-Aug-24
Ordered another cache container from overseas and plan to replace/enable by end of August

06-Jun-24
New part arrived from overseas but it ain't right. I'll try again to find something better. More to come in a month.

28-Apr-24
Found the yellow reflector but no container SadThere was a oil spill on the lake, the smell was pretty bad while we were looking Sad

28-Apr-24
Been shopping for replacement cache but nothing local so will buy from overseas. Offline for 2 months.

25-Apr-24
Having been here before, key is missing

21-Apr-24
We found the container but the host is very rusty and might need to be repaired.

19-Apr-24
been there 2 times now and even messages rhe owner who told me that i was in the right spot, pretty sure that this one is missing.

Having cycled to this one before, just trundled past- looks to be all good- havent opened it, but cache is definitely here Trust your velocopedic senses you must

07-Apr-24
Found the yellow reflector but nothing else.

29-Mar-24
Pretty sure I was at the right spot but didn't have time for a long enough search as I have to meet some people arriving at Southern Cross soon, will be back!

We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. Yesterday we drove from Lakes Entrance to Melbourne. Tonight we will take the ferry to Tasmania from Geelong. Since Geelong is not far from here we can spent great part of the day in Melbourne. We had a lunch break here so we thought we might also try this multi. Found the needed information, found the reflector but unfortunately we were not able to find the cache.

28-Mar-24
We spent some time on this multi, but the cache remained hidden from us.

16-Feb-24
We also played this multi during our sightseeing tour - it was quite a challengeThanks for the fun Team sissifalke

16-Feb-24
When my daughter was last in Melbourne she did all the hard work on this one but couldn't get to the logbook. As we were over for Tay Tay I decided we should try to finish this one off.It was all sorted very quickly and the logbook signed.TFTC

On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. SmileDay 10/74, Wednesday. After work I decided to take a LONG walk. I wandered around the Docklands area and logged a lot of geocaches and lab caches. I had such a lovely evening in a beautiful, sunny weather. I loved this one! It is clever. Smile The coordinates are a bit off but with the cache description, it is easy to find. I will give a favourite point for the nice idea. Thank you for the cache and greeting from Vaasa, Finland! SmileLogged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).

Wow! This was an amazing cache and puzzle, the coordinates werent difficult to obtain, but i was initially in the wrong spot and then i found the correct spot and the container mentioned in the description, but opened up, i thought i was mistaken. I kept reading all the logs and description over and over again until i tried my initial thought, and of course it was correct, i felt silly but was happy i managed to work it out Smile TFTC, never had a cache this complex!

That was nice! Thanks!

13 January 2024 1:35pmDay in the city, caching with Brain before he heads up to ACT for the next 5 years... sounds good to me. Packed with many odds and ends to pick up some choice caches within the Royal Park, Docklands and Port Melbourne area, we were keen to get some fun numbers and do some research for our next caching challenge. What a fun little multi, finding it whilst working toward the docklands letterbox I was happy to tick off another city cache. Something Brain is rather keen on me working towards. After quickly realising what the cache wanted from me, the log was in hand and sign away! Tha ks for the cache and the little adventure.

An unplanned visit to this finger of land led to a fun little cache. Thanks for bringing me out, although I was much more of a Catwoman fan than the caped crusaders.

29-Nov-23
In Docklands for a rare visit and decided to try this one even in the rain and wind. Coords are well out but I used the description and after puzzling for a little while found the first bit. Then it literally clicked and found the well hidden cache. Thanks for the challenge here and a part of the city I don't know very well

Such an original multi cache! It deserves a favorite point !!Greetings from Belgium

Wow that took more brain power than I have available today!!After six days on the overland track and a 4am wake up for a 6:30am flight into Melbourne I was pleasantly surprised when my hotel let me check in early. After a two hour nap I needed to get out and stretch my legs. Ive managed a cheeky 15k steps for the day now Have a FP here.TFTC

Similar to others, my GPSr indicated that I am rather far away from GZ. However, its not really an issue as the cache description allowed to located the cache anyway. Cool multi.

11-Oct-23
A very nice multi, straightforward and accurate. Made the trip to GZ and were initially confused until we realised how well hidden it was. A very good cache. Onya abl973

Enjoying the sun. Exploring some more places in Melbourne.TFTCNice hide

And also like previous cachers, the final GZ was about 20m from where the coordinates were telling me to look

29-Aug-23
Another early morning cache before conference. Found the required information quickly but the given co-ords took me at least 10m to 12m away from where the description said I should be looking (would have helped if I read the description first). Once there figured out what to do, but as per previous cachers, definitely needs a little TLC or Q20.. Thanks for a pretty unique cache. Still gets a FP.

Wow! not what I expected with this micro! After a couple of daytime attempts on the geo bike where the office workers & muggle walkers thwarted any real attempt to explore... decided to go the night option, seeing that there are reflective markers to help.
Previous posts had me reading and re-reading the description. This was far more helpful & found the markers after the initial stage was discovered. Wandered around looking, looking where the GZ coordinates took me. Only when hope of a smiley was gone & decided to log a note that stage 1 was found did I stumble across it! Doh!!3
Was glad also that I came armed with a tin of WD-40 spray, knowing previous cachers had encountered some issues. Not only did it help access the log, but ensured it could be safely tucked back in.
Thanks abl973 for this clever & creative cache, a favourite for sure!

Visiting from Port Macquarie.
Collected the required numbers and headed for shelter to calculate gz. To our pleasant surprise we had taken shelter mere metres from the cache. Understood what we had to do but the rusty mechanism made it a touch more difficult. Perhaps a wd-40 run is needed.
Thanks for the cache

A bit of time to kill before the Ice Hockey today, a short wander around Docklands to grab a couple of highly favourited caches! This one as great, adding another favourite point too! Thanks for the cache abl973.

Found at 15:50
Stopping for a few caches on the way home this afternoon and I found myself nearby here. I collected the required information and calculated gz quickly then followed my wandering phone GPS (eventually) to the hide.
I quickly worked out the clever twist but as reported before, the mechanism was a little rusty and required a bit of force to access the log. I managed to loosen it up a little but it would definitely benefit from some TLC.
Thanks abl973 for the cache. A fav for me.

30-Mar-23
TFC have searched for this a few times on my lunch break but always so many muggles sitting in the seats. Today I waited them out. Great cache! The mechanism is getting a bit rusty and found it hard to close. Got it in the end and all is safe and ready for the next cachet

21-Mar-23
I have had the coordinates for this for a while but I was here on a lunch break from work and it seems like it's a popular lunch spot so I had to leave it.
Today I am back not at lunch time and it is nice and deserted so the find this time was pretty quick and I was soon opening and signing the log.
For the other finders that are mentioning there is no log, you must have only found the first part of the cache ... keep looking.
Awesome concept though, a favourite from me.
Thanks abl973 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

After some previously booked travel was cancelled due to Covid, we were now having to use up our flight credits before they expired so my wife and I decided to fly down to Melbourne from Brisbane for an extended weekend break. This morning we were headed out to find somewhere for breakfast. I suggested we head towards Docklands as I had a few caches on my to do list over that way. As we neared it became apparent that we were unlikely to find anywhere to eat around here and a quick Google Map search confirmed our suspicions. My wife took her leave and we arranged to meet up later in a more café rich environment once I had found my other caches.

Arriving at the listed coordinates I quickly found the required information and sat for a spell to calculate my final destination. These seemed to show an improbable location next to the building so I reread the cache page. There was enough information there to help me locate the final location without reference to my coordinates. I was initially flummoxed at what I found there but all quickly made sense and I was able to sign my name in the logbook. TFTC

09-Mar-23
The closest sign to the coordinates doesn't have a phone number any more.
Next closest sign, the phone number didn't work.

I suppose it could be me.

25-Feb-23
Finished a bike tour, then headed to this cache. Found the sign and phone number then did the math. Found after a short search. The hint in the description helped. There was no log but I picked up the TB there.

Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. Today we headed to the CBD to clean a few caches up.

This is one of the caches found today. This was a fun Multi, we found the first part, but not according to the hint and for a minute doubted it was actually the cache. The cache container could do with a good application of WD40 rust is making it hard to open.

Thanks abl973 for the cache.

19-Feb-23
In the area with Rebel Acts for some fun in the sun, and to put some smiles on the map.
This was one of the caches we had some success with, cheers for the cache.

05-Jan-23
No luck for me today. Searched for 10 minutes and then searched a little more. I have as confident I had the right sign but couldn’t spot the goodies even with the help of a little tech. Even did a PAF to check I had worked out the correct co-ords as I couldn’t follow the check sum provided. Thanks for bringing us here regardless.

13-Nov-22
In the city today. The clues were easy and the next part was too. But finding the cache... wow 15 minutes then thought hmmmm.. and bingo. A little stiff to open but all good.

Thanks to abl973 for the fun and the adventure.

A perfect day to head out with SimsFamily and journey to the East side of the bay to grab a variety of caches with amazing weather.
There’s always time for just one more before calling it after a long day caching.
An awesome cache hide for such a busy location.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the Cache abl973

The second day of my non-caching trip to Melbourne. This is one of the caches I managed to squeeze in.

Cache of the Day here I reckon. Saved here by a conversation I had at a breakfast event in Adelaide earlier this year where it was explained to me the difference between checksums in South Australia and Victoria. I wasn’t sure I was on the right track here, but I persevered and got there in the end. I liked the way you have to think laterally a little to get to the logbook, which i have signed.

Something a bit different from your standard multi, thanks so much abl973.

Great little hide. Wish a had a bit of something to help keep it in good condition, if only only I had my maintenance kit.

Favourite point for sure!

Heading to Marvel Stadium to watch the mighty Freo Dockers take on the Dogs. With a little time up my sleeve it was decided to hit up a few close by caches and Adlabs.

This is a great little multi that had Memorychip and I smiling. It goes need a little lubricant but apart form that, all good here.

Thank you Smile

Today was another big day of walking we did 17.5km and focused on labs and virtuals and of course eating and drinking. Lucky again with the weather still no rain. Not sure why I haven’t done this one before luckily Geohusband was here as I couldn’t open it myself with my damaged wrist. Needs some WD40. TFTC clever!!

22-May-22
That was great fun and had me scratching my head more than once but that’s probably more due to a phone GPS that thought it was in the Yarra.

Really well put together puzzle, Docklands was dead on a sunday arvo so perfect time to acting suspicious.

fav from me.

15-Apr-22
Very clever....thanks so much...we really enjoyed this definitely could do with some TLC (aka WD40) to help with the rust! The GPS is all over the place so best to ignore it and follow the instructions!

08-Apr-22
Tftc. Was our first multi cache. Nice fun puzzle

17-Mar-22
Wirh the GPS bouncing around everywhere, the description was useful to finding this.
The 2nd part was a bit stiff to open but no problems.
Also very easy to put back together for Mr TiedyeSmileys except that he then realised he was still holding it on his lap, Doh!!!
This time it was much more difficult to own but it was eventually done and the cache returned
TFTC and hello from Tassie

The GPS was initially a little buggy here due to the tall buildings nearby. I made it to the correct sign and soon set about calculating the GZ coordinates. On arrival at GZ I found one element of the cache and soon set about working on the second element. The second element has been sitting for a while and was covered in webs. It is also well rusted and therefore wouldn’t open in the normal way. I spent about ten minutes and was about to give up when I happened to put my finger in the opposite end and it was enough to give the second element some help to open and reveal the cache.

A great cache but it’s likely to get harder to open with time. Perhaps some WD40 would help it along for a bit?

Thanks abl973 for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

This was so fun! Such a great idea!! The cache info says it all Wink

Absolutely awesome! Very clever! It didn't take us long to find but this deserves a favourite point for creativity!

28-Mar-21
Now this is a great cache! Pretty cool.
Managed to solve it relatively easily!
Loved the design!

06-Feb-21
This multi took more time than it absolutely should've.
WP1 had me in between two signs without any prevalent eight-digit numbers, so I tried substituting what I knew and... hey, that might be a phone number.
Of course it's a phone number, me, because the description says it is.
With this newly acquired wisdom, I headed over to the more appropriate of the two signs and soon had WP2's coordinates in hand.
As others have mentioned, they are a fair way out, but the CBD GPS signal will be the CBD GPS signal and so I was left to aimlessly wander around the art installation looking for some glimmer of hope.
And, fifteen or so minutes later, that glimmer came straight from the mentioned yellow reflector (I'd actually gone and read the description by this point) and the TOTT was in my hand soon after.
Now, as for WP3, I had a fair idea of what I may be looking for, but not precisely where it was located.
If the past two waypoints have indicated anything, I'm not particularly observant when it counts, so I led myself on another lovely lap of the area with a slight drizzle starting to come in overhead when, upon my arrival back at WP2, I spotted exactly what I needed and honestly wondered whether geocaching was the right hobby for me at all.
Finally, one embarrassing experience later - salvaged only by the fact that there weren't too many muggles around and I'm the only one to bear witness to the entirety of this terrible tale - and the logbook was in my hand.
Thanks to abl973 for this wonderfully made multi, even if my own flaws prolonged the journey! A well-deserved fave point has been added.

TFTC, Brainiac03 Smile

Oh my goodness I get it now! This took a while as I first read 60m as 60km so didn't even attempt the final. Then I looked in two wrong places before I finally listened to the CO and read the instructions. Easy peasy after that! Read the instructions raindoctor. Stop being a millennial. Come on!

29-Dec-20
After a great meal in the city a sunset walk in the docklands was the perfect way to cap off the evening. Oh, and grab a cache or two. We had the place to ourselves and could spend some time admiring the installation before moving onto WP2. Initially we were searching in the wrong spot but the hint set us straight and we noticed something that fit with the theme. Loved the concept of this hide and that it has stood the test of time since 2016. Great work, a fav from us. TFTC

#1853 - 7.05pm
On a rare urban foray with heymissjo as we took advantage of low muggle numbers due to winter, the weekend, and legacy Covid restrictions. Consequently, the Docklands region was largely deserted.
Heymissjo wanted me to try this particular cache as it was one of her early favourites.
And I can see why!
The first part was done easily.
The second less so.
And the third part... well, another would be excused for thinking it was my first geocaching adventure, lol!
But I got there in the end.
A great cache, and great fun.

Thanks so much for this sweet hide, abl973.

07-Jun-20
Really cool hide. Took us a while to find it but hint was very helpful. Best not to be worried about spiders!

08-Mar-20
This cache took me to an area I would not have otherwise known existed. A few people waiting for boat rides didn't give me a second glance while I wrote down the phone number. Waited for a father and daughter to leave the area near GZ and then thought I had found a cache without a logbook. But wait. What's this in my hand? Silly me. I think this deserves a favourite. tftc

25-Feb-20
I cycled here today after spending a few hours at the nearby (fabulous!) Library at The Dock. Getting the coords at stage 1 was pretty straight forward, but the fun actually only started there.

I don't want to spoil too much on this one as solving this cache really put a big smile not only on my Geocaching map but also on my face! Let's just say getting there by bike is definitely worth it!

Thanks for this fun cache! A fav point coming all the way from Austria!

08-Feb-20
Good one! WP1 was no issue, but both the phone and the proper GPSr were jumping all over the place at the final GZ. The generous hint was enough to get to a bit closer, then a lively twist to this one, it took a "stop and think" divert me from leaving a note. Signed the log and returned as found. I managed to leave one of my mini calling cards because this hide deserves one. I don't expect it to last, but that is OK.

27-Jan-20
Phone GPS was two parts of useless here so we had to resort to the clue. Loved it and a fave point added.

11-Jan-20
Worked out and found with tassie expat. Enjoyed doing this one, haven't seen a cammo of this kind before. Luckily we did it on a quiet Sat morning, I reckon it'd be difficult with pedestrians around. Tftc

11-Jan-20
Frmen1 and I went out early to grab this one. Our not so smart smartphones were bouncing around terribly so resorted to satellite map. Found 1st clue after a bit of circling and then up to the next stop. Interesting art installation. Circled around again and then saw a tell. Quick grab between muggles and then ??? Our neurons are firing quickly today (rare occurrence) and we had the amazingly hidden cache in no time. A fav pt for construction. TFTC

As myself and K_T_B were doing a bit of light wandering around the city waiting for the sausage stand at the queen vic markets to open, we passed through docklands where I was reminded of this multi cache. Having previously lived in this neck of the woods and having the pleasure of knowing the charming CO of this multi, I was privy to its creation, and happened to have found this cache prior to publication. Well I guess enough time has passed (definetely) that I can now log my find. Re-tracing the steps today K_T_B's eyes glazed over as I described the logic of getting to the second part but brightened as usual when there was finding to do, having never seen a cache hidden quite like this before. I must doff my hat to the creator, for this cache is exceedingly fun and is set in a scenic area well worth visiting. K_T_B said this one deserves a favourite point, and I cannot argue... by the looks many fellow cachers agree. Cheers abl973, love yur work brother, kia ora!

...and that batman gif still makes me giggle years later.

Clever clever. I’d worked out the cords for this one on a prior journey and now down from Sydney for Xmas and working nearby I decided to make a go of this. Made the initial find but a little surprised and no log, humm. Went for lunch, penny dropped, returned, looking from a distance, yep that could have potential but needs a gap in traffic. Anyway this morning all connected and I soon had the log in hand. That was fun. TFTMC abl973 #882

I was out for an easy ride on my bike when I decided to stop for this cache. It took a while to get access to WP1 as there was a group of muggles waiting to board a nearby hire boat but eventually they were gone. Then I wandered over to the area where the GPS indicated and had to wait for the muggle smokers to finish off. The next step was a little puzzling and I sat there for a while wondering if this was part of the puzzle or if I'd found something unrelated. Then the penny dropped!
An awesome cache which I thoroughly enjoyed! A favorite point from me!

Thanks for find #1522

Left a direct message. Pretty sure we were on point but found nothing. The hint made sense for our end location. It may have been muggled.

If you are looking for this cache, it is in Australia. Stumbled across this one while climbing a mountain, not on my map at all. Did pocket the trackable to take to a new location. Should this cache be in Australia? TFTC anyway.

I came here before the event near by and managed to find the key, but with the GZ in hand from the phone number I was a long was from anything that looked like a key was needed. Off I went to the event and a helping hand was given.
I must have had the wrong number as I was 30m from where it said. Oh well, this was a clever hide at the end of the day.

Today was a big day out, well it felt like it anyway. With the rain coming out of the clouds early I was unsure if my plan would be put to action. After hosting an event in the morning the skies seemed to clear so off I went in search of some Mount Disappointment caches. After finding just over 100 of them I decided to pull the pin and head back to Melbourne to do some more interesting caches. Some multis were on the cards and some finals were located but due to the amount of high muggles frequency due to this so called thing of “school holidays”, I had to leave the caches.  Finished off the day with an event near Marvel stadium and on the Spirit to Tasmania.

A great day out with 118 finds. A good few days in vic finished off.

Thanks for the cache

14-Sep-19
On a fresh Saturday morning this cache was attempted.

The correct digits was retrieved quickly. However gotten the right coordinates took a little more effort. Reading the details of the cache again the cache was eventually found, a little off coordinates, but worth it over and over again, as the end target was amazing. A FP worthy indeed.

Thx

Geodad solo'd this one relatively close to work. I'd mostly figured this out quite a while back but was only able to make the grab today while the area was relatively muggle-free. A quick search confirmed my theories about what this cache consisted of. Well constructed! Quickly signed and replaced before the lunchtime crowd came stomping through. TFTC

Very clever - I too got to a point of questioning what I had found. The GPS bounce made things very confusing but got it on third approach.

We had looked at this cache before leaving Hobart so we knew where we were going, we collected the needed information from the 1st waypoint and were soon at GZ, well i'd love to say more but dont want to post a spoiler.

Puzzled for a moment we were but we were soon adding our names to the log, a very smart cache.

We wandered the area and picked up a few GCA caches but our main focus was this GC multi. Both stainless steel rat and I had studied the area on google maps so we felt we knew it. We found the details easily and WP1 and soon calculated GZ. We found the container but for a brief moment thought we were wrong until the penny dropped Surprised Yeah this is clever! All three of us commented how much we liked it. This is favourite point worthy for sure.
Thanks and well done abl973

A half day of work today, and so not to waste a beautiful day, I jumped on the deadly treadlie and did a few caches around the Botanical Gardens.
I rode in via Footscray Road, so this was my first cache. Just after lunchtime so not too many muggles around.
The hardest part was getting the first numbers - the GPSr was bouncing all over the place!
Thanks for the format clue.
I do have one of the final containers, but never thought to use it like that!
Thanks, Robmc.

Great Cache! We were here in the morning by tram, that was a problem. But after reading the description three times, we know what to do. And we found the box! Good work! We give a favourite point.

Thanks for the great combo of proper clues and a very creative hide. It wasn’t dark but I certainly had to flex my reflexes Smile. That was a lot of fun - fav point coming your way!

I returned today on my way to the Queen Vic markets before leaving Melbourne. Luckily parking is not an issue on Sundays and I got a park 200m away. I saw the error I made yesterday, not having really seen something like this before. My name is now in the logbook and it is indeed blank.
I actually really did like this multi/puzzle. A clever cache.

It took me 3 visits to complete this cache. Luckily, I work close by so it wasn’t a biggie.

During my first visit I got solved the coordinates WP1. Those led me to the building and because the area was full of muggles I though I’ll come back again some other time. The some other time took me at least a months, during which I have misplaced the WP1 coordinates so my second visit was to get those again and make a second attempt to recover the cache. I re-read the cache description on the way to GZ and something stuck in my head. I got the phone number and because the area was muggled again (I made the same mistake and came here during lunch time), I went back to the office where I solved the coordinates to WP1 again and punched them into my phone (I use the Geocaching and Commander Compass apps) for later.

Today I went for my third attempt. Not at lunchtime like last time, but a bit later. The area was quite. As I was approaching GZ I spotted the thing that stuck in my head. After a quick grab I had a little treasure in my hand. But it wasn’t to be that easy, was it.. The search continued and I looked in places where I probably shouldn’t have looked. Eventually, I sat down to do some thinking and then struck me. I signed the log, put everything where it needed to go and went back to the office a very happy man with one smiley on the face and another one on the map

This is a fantastic hide and I give it a favourite.

This was fun.

Took me way too long to find.

I found the info fine at WP1.

Then my issues began.

The gps was jumping round and round.

I thought I had a good lock on a likely spot.

Seemed like a reasonable place for a hide but no joy.

So I checked the hint.

This confused me little further.

Then I just kept checking likely spots till the aha moment.

Bingo I was soon signing the log.

Owner may want to check the cache as I think people are taking short cuts.

Fav from me.

In Melbourne for the annual work gathering. I left the hotel early to walk to the evening function, so I could pick up a few caches on the way. After collecting the information and calculating the co-ords, then reading the hint, the cacahe was soon found. A lovely spot to visit. TFTC.

Searched for a while but no luck

Well hot damn, this cache was pretty awesome! For some reason I was expecting it to be harder than it was but I needn’t have worried. After unnecessarily going out on the boat ramp I realised my mistake and solved some coordinates. After following my gps around in a circle I had a read of the cache description and found what I needed to find. The last cacher who found this cache appears to have only found the first part of it as there’s a signed piece of paper in there. Funnily enough after initially sitting on the ground and getting the strong scent of urine I noticed the second part of this cache as I was heading for a better spot to sit! Soon enough it became clear that that was actually an important observation and the cache was in hand and signed. Thanks for bringing me to an art installation that I had no idea was here, I really enjoyed this cache Smile
