I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
The walk up to the summit is fine, with a good waymarked path, though I expect it's messy when wet. The view at the top is superb. The description of where to find the cache is totally explicit, yet nothing can be found. Such a shame, as this place deserves a cache. Sadly the CO hasn't been active for ages, so expecting a maintenance visit seems futile. If this were archived it would clear the map for an active cacher to place a cache in a brilliant place.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
What a lovely spot. Took a bit of effort to get here, great view. Followed clue and pretty sure we had the right tree but no cache. It also has not been found for some time so might do with a visit from the owner of the cache. Thanks for bringing me here though.
The track to this cache was a bit of a challenge - couldn't even find the start before I read the description. Made some GPS track recordings and will update Open Street Map if anyone else is struggling. At GZ, the GPS was wondering around quite a bit, but the description made the find fairly straight forward. Nice little adventure - TFTC.
Quite a search. Description good but hint misleading as no flax or leaves. Has this been moved?
Found with team BOP what a long but awesome weekend we had with lots of walking up and down hills but the views were worth it such a spectacular place we live in.

Day 2 -We had planned a big weekend with 6 of us travelling the Coromandel area and logging caches as team BOP. Found many great spots, several caches we replaced wet log sheets and others missing for some time. Lots of km's travelled on tarseal, gravel and some not so good roads. Lots of rained showers seemed to plague us on the first day. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, NZFlossy, TNXPro, and Philip.Perry… This is the first time we have cached overnight together. What an adventure… We group signed as Team BOP for efficiency and expediency.
We visited so many beautiful and remote locations on the Coromandel Peninsula. Many of these areas deserved to be hosts to caches. However, we encountered several that needed owner maintenance. Wet logbooks seemed to be far too common (We’ve had a lot of rain). Oftentimes, a sodden logbook was stuffed back into the container with a new, bagged logbook alongside (What's up with that?). And then there were some caches that were quite obviously missing (and have been for a while)… Nevertheless, a huge thank you to all of the COs for bringing us to these amazing places… We are determined to return and explore some more.
Not the easiest of cache finds... Got there with a lot of perseverance (and some bush bashing)... TFTC.

We took probably the worst way up to this cache, but the way down the track was even worser-er!
Did the cache below this one first then we looked and found a way up. We found cords out by quite a bit but used the hint and cache description. This is a beautiful are but the track is very very muddy and a change of clothes was required for some of out team members. On a road trip with Team BOP and signed the log as one . TFTC
Team BOP have joined forces again this time to tackle the Coromandel. The real work begins here as we hit Opera Point. We followed the track until that ran out to grab the cache on the peninsular but then tried to find the track to head up. The GPS indicated there would be a loop track but we were unsuccessful finding it so we made our own track to the top.
What an adventure! Blazing our own trail was fun until we hit a huge wall of black berry haha. We reconnected with an existing track up the top and made our way to gz. The cache took a little while to find but thanks to the hint we finally spotted it. Coords seemed to be roughly 16meters out so the hint is a must.
Now on the way down things started getting hairy again. The track was shocking although well marked. Wet, boggy, slippery and narrow. Nearly at the end and then it happened.... a full change of clothes will be required A favourite here - the views were amazing. Cheers Mhiddle, TFTC.

The walkway is a bit tricky to this cache, but the cache description tell all. Follow the small steep steps and muddy but the view on top is worth. The bottle jar with yellow lit is exactly located on the 3rd tree but my mobile phone coordinate took me to the 4th tree and I can't see any flax actually. Anyhow on the 3rd tree the cache just there. Greetings from Indonesia. TFTC
Found it after around 15 min searching. Great views! Log book very wet, replacement log used. Path up to lookout very muddy, as expected at this time of year.
Didn't read the cache page carefully enough so walked passed the turn-off. We retraced our steps and decided "What the hay. we have come this far, lets finish the job." Lovely walk to the top, the views were fantastic. Mr P made quick work of finding the cache whilst I distracted the rather surprised teenager we found up there trying to get some peace and quiet. A sunny Xmas Day with MUEZ at the beaches of Whangapoua: Following the directions in the listing we easily found the small track up the hill and were rewarded with an amazing view after finding the well hidden cache. / TFTC!
Still working through the state of affairs that is the DGSc Challenge and the needing of specific caches to meet this requirement. So setting off from home at 4am and managed to get here just after 6am to start looking for a few caches. So between rain showers and a seemingly endless succession of road works I eventually made it to Coromandel. So one ward and over the hill we go.
THis being the second one that I targeted and I straightlined it up the hill to locate the track, the track was slippery when eventually located but moving steadily and slowly eventually made it to the top to be greated by some great views.
the cache was exposed and so positioned it back in such a location that hopefully it will not roll out once again.
Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

Missed the turn off and ended up walking all the way out to the point but it was worth it and then back to get the cache which was out in the open and was replaced tftc
I'm so glad to be able to claim joint FTF on this claim with my friend imcuzz. It's a long story... We decided to race up to Whangapoua overnight to claim a few smileys including 3 FTFs) and had a great time. A few tips for this cache 1) Do not attempt this in the darkness 2) Best done in warmer weather when the track isn't so muddy 3) Do not walk up this track with glasses on your head. Apart from these problems we had a lot of fun and enjoyed eventually finding the cache. Looked for ages in the wrong place, but finally - success. If anyone finds a pair of glasses on this track (we searched high and low) please contact imcuzz - she'd love to hear from you,TFTC
After receiving a call from my mad caching friend Pinocchio59 saying there were some FTF's to be had, we headed off after work up to the Coromandel. We arrived at our first FTF cache just on dusk which was close by and after finding that thought we would attempt this one too. We debated whether to proceed with it getting rapidly darker but common sense did not prevail. We both had torches so off we went. DUMB move. Do not attempt this in the dark or in wet months as the track is very slippery in parts (I have the bruises to prove it). Half way up I realised that my prescription reading glasses had come off my head somewhere on the track (I suspect near where I had earlier slipped over) oh well onward and upward we went. Beautiful view from here even at night but after searching for quite some time in the dark we decided we would come back first thing in the morning in daylight (much better idea) to search for my glasses and the cache. We managed to be FTF to find the cache but unfortunately we were not able to find my glasses. This cache gets a favourite from me as it is a lovely walk with great views. TFTC
NOTE: If anyone finds my reading glasses on their travels please message me as I would love to have them back.
