Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

In the area for a wedding and what a better way to start our lovely weekend than with finding a geocache. TFTC
Stopped off for a drink at the chateau whilst we crunched the numvers. Lovely walk to gz. The grass and mountains look beautiful from here.
Day 12 of our NZ trip. What a fabulous day we had exploring the trails and seeing the sights. What a magnificent hotel. Thank you for bringing us here. Enjoyed doing this easy multi cache. Greetings from
Saw this series of caches when they were published and really haven't had the opportunity to ever look at coming up here to attempt them. When the opportunity arose that this series was up for adoption, I decided to contact the CO and sent yorkshirekiwi83 an email saying that we were happy to adopt them as we didnt want to see them being archived. Yorkshirekiwi83 was happy and willing to let me adopt them, decided that we should go and find the caches before adopting this series of caches .
A plan was to come out here and spend the weekend near the start of the track, so a plan was hatched on Christmas Day 2018, we checked out the accommodation and Mrs Yeetrees said that she had always wanted to stay at the Chateau Tongariro, as her family was a legacy visitor, but that is another story.
After the accommodation was all booked it was just a matter of planning the trip, and saving the funds [xx(], well a plan was set in motion..... and the start of the journey from there and back again.
We meet up with bkj97 and The Little Blue Hen while we out and about and had mentioned that we were going to go up the mountain attempt this series, they said that they were happy to come along as well if we didn’t mind the company, well twos company more are cachers, why not as two eyes are better than mine as I am know to be blind, so the plan was amended for a team effort [^].
Today was the day one of our two day visit on this lovely mountain and we decided that we would attempt the LOTR series, having made our way up here last night with bkj97 being our most gracious chauffeur who go us to our accommodation safely last night [^].
After finding GC6K71F - LOTR33 - Mount Doom, this was the last cache for the day that we needed to find today. As we were making our way towards GZ, Mrs Yeetrees managed to find a parking spot not too far from the final GZ, we decided to check the hint, and as we neared GZ, it only took bkj97 a few seconds to spot the hiding spot of the cache, and we soon found the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks yorkshirekiwi83 for placing this cache series here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (14354).
A great cache to finish the day with, after dropping off bkj97 and The Little Blue Hen off we headed to our accommodation at the Chateau Tongariro, to get into my penguin suit for dinner[^][xx(]. Really worked up a real appetite now so dinner was going to be a real reward.

Last of the day and now for a shower and chateau briand for dinner. T4tcsl Added favourite because I can and seeing it was my 50th for the day.
Breakfast at the chateau. 18.5km, 49 other caches with little blue hen and yeetrees on the LOR series. Dinner about to occur at the chateau ( Chateaubriand) so why not make it 50 for the day. Tftcsl
On a tour round New Zealand, visiting from the UK. We got the information and soon walked to GZ and found the cache. It was a beautiful morning, enabling us to have great views.
What a nice hotel in a great nature! The puzzle was easy to solve and to find the can quickly. One day we may still be here. Wonderful! Thanks for the Cache! TeamZwenzy

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "Chateau Tongariro".
yorkshirekiwi83, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

Our last day in Turangi so having a drive into the National Park, decided to some of the LOTR trail. Chose the linear walk and parked up, completed the walk and then walked back to the car along the road. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk as it wasn’t too hot today. Picked up the information we needed and after walking back to the car drove to GZ and soon found the cache. TFTC
Spotted the plaque when we arrived at the Chateau and solved the coordinates on our first night. Nabbed the cache after checking out. Nice hide. TFTC.
We are on vacation in New Zealand and of course we seek some caches.
Thanks for this one!

While waiting for our dinner in this beautiful building, we found the coordinates and also the cache easily on an evening stroll. Thank you very much for the cache.
TFTC

On our 29th day in New Zealand we visited the National Park area. We left Turangi in the morning on drove up to Whakapapa Village. On the route we were looking for some caches. One main aim was to get the Te Maari Earth Cache. We were here three years ago and there the weather was so bad, we couldn't see even one of the mountains. So this morning when sun came up we headed straight to this area. And it was a wonderful day well worth the visit. We did some smaller hiking trails and searched for a number of caches. With many of them the logs were damp to wet, they all suffered a bit from the bad weather these last days. We then looked at this multi, oh great, oh short one that should be solvable also with just little time to spend. And so it was, all the numbers were quickly figured out and also the final was within short distance. Great, we liked it a lot.

Came and sorted this one out after dinner tonight. The final looked very likely so off we went and signed this one off. Still plenty to do in the area but this is the last one for this trip. TFTC # 13,256
[#4350] It was a rainy start of the day at Whakapapa Village and it seemed we could not go for a walk. But when we were ready to leave it was dry and even the sun came out, so we decided to do the walk to the Taranaki falls. Before we started we picked up two traditionals near the DOC office and the chateau. During the walk we logged all LOTR traditionals we passed, except the three my pocket query missed as they were inactive some weeks ago. Nevertheless we managed to calculate the coords for the bonus despite two missing codes. Before leaving we also found the two-stage multi at the chateau and the letterbox at the NP sign. In total 18 found caches. Thanks to all cache owners for making our visit even more fun and interesting.

Enjoying the weekend in Whakapapa Village to get some hiking training in for my upcoming big hike of the Green Gully Track in OZ. Today I enjoyed a stunning day exploring the Lower and Upper Tama Lakes collecting some more of the LOTR on the way. Quick find after solving the multi. TFTC
Having walked up to Tama Lakes on a cold and somewhat wet day, we were pleased to be able to relax in the cafe to enjoy a hot drink. We calculated the coordinates for this multi and as it was only a short walk we were able to add it to our list of caches found in the day.
After solving the puzzle last night I took a quick walk down from the Chateau which we were lucky enough to be staying in. When I approached from the right direction the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
I had done a trail or two and having a rest ...decided this needs looking at ...ha ha At GZ soon had the info ...calculated out the results and soon had the hide in hand ...thanks Yorkshirekiwi 83 well done
After doing one of the trails, we decided that we had time for a couple of other caches. This was close to where our van was parked so we wandered over to get the required information. Most was straight forward, but one question had two possible answers. The two waypoints were plotted an one seemed more logical than the other so headed for that spot. I was very relieved to find the cache which was in good order. Thanks for setting up this multi yorkshirekiwi83.
Staying at the Chateau Tongariro and since there were some handy caches, just had to take a walk and grab them.
Puzzle sorted fairly quickly then wandered to GZ where cache quickly found, log signed and left as found.
Thanks for the placement yorkshirekiwi83.

Today we had our third day in National Park Whakapapa and made a trip around the wonderful walks here. Special emphasis had we on the vulcanic mountains around us. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was bad in the morning, not sunny, but it got better and worse all day long, including raining from time to time. Only sometimes then there was some sun to be seen.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had better things to do than observing two geocachers.
The found answers quickly led to senseful coordinates. Thanks to yorkshirekiwi83 for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Chateau Tongariro. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Back on the road again for another international trip. This time to Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and South Korea.
Like our previous trips we focussed on old caches, high favorites, rare cache types and pretty locations.
Most of the trip was together with Plaguerider, Zanna and FLtravelers, but some of it I did solo.
Logs were signed as DATT (Do All The Things) and if there were answers, we typically sent them as a group.
Thanks for maintaining the caches for us.

**Trip log:**
Found during Team DATT's (Do All The Things) annual international caching trip consisting of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5 and myself. Africa kicked it all off back in 2016, with a follow up European tour last year. I tried to pitch Asia but the pull of the Great Ocean Road and completing our 6th continent was too strong, and we landed on week long road trips through both Australia and New Zealand. Before meeting the team in Sydney though, I was able to schedule some layovers in Asia (Beijing, Bangkok and Singapore), so in the end I got a bit of everything. =)
**New Zealand Day 11 - Taupo -> Tongariro National Park -> Wellington:**
Today was pretty long as we covered a large portion of the north island on our way to Wellington and our ferry ride tomorrow. We detoured west around Tongariro National Park to enjoy the views, which were unfortunately obscured by clouds a majority of the time. It was overcast all day but luckily we never got rain. We were able to get into Wellington early enough to walk around and enjoy a Cinco de Mayo dinner at a restaurant called "Mexico," which I thought was just too funny.
**Cache Log:**
Nice, quick multi in a cool location.

We’re on our annual international geocaching trip as Team DATT (Do All The Things) comprised of FLtravelers, PlagueRider, waterfan5, and zanna. This year we chose to explore Australia and New Zealand. Zanna and I decided to do a two-day stopover in Beijing, a three-day stopover in Bangkok, and a 12-hour layover in Singapore on our way to meet up with the rest of the team in Sydney.
Once we got the Team back together, we made a “bee-line” to Lane Cove and various caches around Sydney. Then we headed down the coast on A1. After visiting Wasp Head, we headed up through Canberra and down M31 to Melbourne, after a webcam stop on Mount Buller.
We had a great time in Melbourne, which is my favorite city in Australia so far, then onto the Great Ocean Road, the highlight of Australia for this trip. After a couple days (not nearly enough) we left the ocean road and headed up A6 towards Victor Harbor (webcam) and Adelaide (webcams) for our flight to Auckland. Seems we found every webcam in Australia.
After a short week in Australia, we flew into Auckland and continued with our explorations in New Zealand. We drove over to Tauranga, and then down to Rotorua and Taupo, enjoying the thermal features. We headed down 5 to Napier, with stops at a couple of waterfalls, and then down to Wellington to catch the ferry to the South Island.
We spent the night in Picton, and then over to the awesome west coast, before crossing over Arthur’s Pass on our way to Christchurch for flights home.
We targeted old caches, highly favorited caches, earthcaches, virtuals, and of course webcam caches, and anything else that got our interest along the way. Logs were signed DATT. Answers, where required, were sent by one of the team members. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of our trip with this cache. Great spot. Nice quickie.

Collected this one on the way out. Great view of the mountain today.
Yesterday we tramped for 10 hours to get back to the Village. It was very windy without rain. The views were spectacular even with the clouds covering Mount Doom. Thanks for the cache.

Mum and 6YO had searched for this one unsuccessfully earlier in the morning, but went back after finding a few other caches... of course it was found in a place already searched!!! It must be pretty hard to find these ones in winter - brrrr!
Although there were some options with the numbers game, instinct took over and it worked out perfectly. Mrs Tparty and muggle Julie worked out the puzzle and Mr Tparty got the find with the coordinates. Waited for a car full of muggles to clear first. TFTC
Heute haben wir noch diesen kleinen Multi gemacht. Sehr schöne Aussicht auf unser Hotel. Danke fürs Legen
Did a quick calculation with the standard dutch way of letters and numbers, but that did not work. Then used an easier method and bingo!
found out the coordinates on a previous visit and logged when stopped at chateau for lunchTFTC

Find number 3764. I had a plan today to collect a First to Find in Owhango, Complete the LOTR series and end up in Taurmarunui to have dinner with my brother. So it was out of bed at 5 am and straight on the road. I arrived at Owhango at 7.40 and achieved the First to Find. Stage 1 completed. Then arrived at Whakapapa about 8 and decided to shout myself a big breakfast before starting. I did the 3 loops in numerical order 1-19 then 20-33 and finally 34-49. I managed to find all the caches (Stage 2 completed) and a few others as well. In the end I achieved a total of 56 finds with only 1 not found and that was "Naki Splash" (too many muggles round). Total walking time was 8 hours. And still made it to dinner by 6 pm. (Stage 3 completed). Thank you for all the placements.
This is another of the extras. I had the numbers before I started my 2nd loop thought I would leave it until I had completed it. Muggles around but I was not of an interest to them. Sat I signed as I had a drink before heading on my way.

On the way up the mountain on the way back from our South Island road trip to Dunedin. Wandered up to the Chateau feeling very proletarian. Got the info then had a pleasant walk down to GZ. No hint but cacher's instinct soon had the cache in hand. All good. TFTC.
After the LOTR falls loop I found this one, too!

Thought I had it right but it was trying to send me off on another hike so I sent the photos to the muggle hubby to work out, sure enough he corrected it for me! Had the month part wrong! Found on our way to the LOTR series. TFTM
I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Today I started my day biking down The Old Coach Road, that was a very nice experience with lots of interesting history and a beautiful scenery. Afterwards I drove up to Whakapapa and did the wonderful LOTR-series around the Taranaki Falls-track. I finished my day by driving up to the end of Bruce Road and watched the beautiful sunset from up there.
About this cache:
Wow, what a nice hotel!! Wish I could afford to stay here.... Found the plaque and did my calculations. Wasn't sure if it was correct, so I was very happy to find the cache on the first shot. Nice and easy hiding-spot. Thank you for a quick and good multi.

Beautiful chateau and beautiful surrondings. Stayed here a night 11 years ago when we did the Tongariro crossing. Will do it again tomorrow. Easy multicache.
Back for a second day of geocaching in the Whakapapa area. During which, in the company of team cacher zboy wonder, we found a goodly number of well placed geocaches. This was one of these.
Always enjoy a cache with a historical bent to it. This is one of those. Worth the extra effort to collect the needed for the final coords.
At GZ the cache was a straightforward find. All in order, log signed, then cache safely re-hidden, just as found.

Today Kerstin.nds and I hiked 23km trough the NP with endpoint im Whakapapa Village. Exhausted and happy we arrived the doc I-Site and took a break here. Before traveling to Taumarunui we did three caches here, this was one of them.
I think the concierge was a bit suspicious while we read the plaque but we made it and nobody saw us getting the final

Last night we checked the plate and calculated the coords in our room. I wonder how much effort it took to plan and construct this building here. For example the windows – the huge screen in the lobby – is just incredible.
And for the cache, this morning, on our way to the hike, we just stopped for a photo. The chateau with the mountains in the background… and then some fresh powder sugar like snow – just a perfect view.
The box was good to find, we had a look at the hint to be sure.
Thanks for hiding the box!

Found it at 10:37 hrs. Staying at the hotel, we just had to do this cache. The puzzle wasn't too difficult, although we had 2 options for what to do with the answers B and E. First option, nothing there, second option was a straight bingo! TFTC!
Found whilst on a wonderful 3 week tour of this beautiful country. Many thanks to the COs for placing caches in great spots to visit and make our holiday even more special.
For some reason we solved the location a lot faster than we made the find. But we got it. TFTC

We set out today to spend a few days at Whakapapa to do a few shorter walks, enjoy the scenery, hopefully find some alpine spring flowers, and to do as much of the LOTR series as we can manage. This will depend on our energy levels, and the weather!
This was a nice little multi, which Mrs G had managed to solve online before we left home, but we still enjoyed our visit. The cache was quickly located and then it was off to the cafe at The Chateau for refreshments as the weather closed in again. TFTC

What a great Multi to do, discovered all the history of the building and then a walk to where I knew it had to be -;)
Great cache, all ok
Thanks.

Together with a big group of orienteerers I have made a long journey from Sweden to Singapore, through the New Territory Australia from Darwin to Ayers Rock and then Sidney. Then we continued to New Zealand for the World Masters Orienteering Championship, this year as a part of World Master Games in Aukland. After the games we went to the south island and traveled from Queenstown and Milford Sounds north along the west coast and reachet Picton. Then we got on the boat to Wellington and went north to Tongariro and Rotorua before we returned home to Sweden.
This was my first visit to this part of the world and it was fantastic.
We also had the time to find som caches on our way. TFTC!!

Finally I'm here. I have always dreamt about going to New Zealand and now I'm here. Yepee!!
I, and a bus load of other orienteerers from Sweden, came via Singapore and Darwin (Aus) to start with a two weeks journey through Northern Territory along Stuart Highway and then to Ayers Rock before heading off to Sydney and finally Auckland for the World Masters Orienteering Championship, this year as a part of World Master Games in Auckland. After a week of competitions, we continued with yet another two weeks of exploring your beautiful country, from Queenstown and Milford Sounds north along the west coast via Wanaka, Fox Glacier, Punakaiki, Nelson and Piction before we crossed Marlborough Sounds to Wellington and further north to Tongariro (walked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing .. magnificent and majestic views) and finally Rotorua.
I absolutely LOVE New Zealand, and I will be back.
Logged some caches along the way, obviously. TFTC"

Bit of an iconic landmark which I first visited when only 7!! Here with Mapper Ted, getting chilly so headed back up the hill. TFTC
The clue for D gave us 2 possibilities which got sorted a few seconds. How refreshing to have something different and interesting after the Tranaki Falls LOTR series. Found with Tramper Ted.
Cache soon found after a short walk from the plaque on this amazing building which does look rather out of place here! No problems in collecting the necessary information. Many thanks
Travelling around the world with Dartmoor Deliverer celebrating her taking early retirement!
NB Dont forget our Devon UK Mega 2017 GC6JZNY this August in the beautiful East Devon area of our county. UK Megas are over one week full of events and geocaching - a wonderful way to enjoy our county!

Out with Red Roaming as we tour around NZ, what a lovely country. Unfortunately it was raining and very misty so the views were not much. As we were passing we stopped to get this one. What an amazing chateau. Coords soon worked out and the cache was soon found at GZ. TFTC
Late afternoon arrival in Whakapapa with sveppi. Plans are to summit Mt Tongariro tomorrow but it looks like the weather won't be cooperating. Anyways, we had planned on picking up some of the caches that have popped up since our last stay here. THe weather today is intermittent rain, and as we approach the Chateau the fog sets in quite heavily and we can hardly see anything. Great time for a "caching from the car" occasion. Drove by the sign and took a photo, then parked up to sort out the coordinates. It was sveppi's turn to get out of the car to grab the container, and by the way the fog was so think we could only see halfway to the Chateau, not a sign of the impressive building from here!
We drove in and took a photo of the sign for this one before sitting in the car to workout the final. It's looking pretty bad weather wise. Fog at GZ so no view on the chateau. TFTC.
To the end of the day an easy multi[:p].
Thanks for the little riddle and hidding the box.
Greeting from Germany!!!

Spent the afternoon checking out caches in the area, making repairs and replacements where needed. All sweet and good to go. Enjoy!
After 20 km by foot today we were glad, that the final was nearby . We stayed in this hotel for four nights.

Day # 14 in New Zealand on a geocaching holiday-trip covering Thailand, Australia and finally my beloved NZ .
Today was supposed to be a very special and extensive caching-day
Around and of course in the wonderful Tongariro Natiol Park everything was extreme :
- The weather went from 'slightly sunny' to 'close to awful' [B)] over the day.
- The walking-distance on my two feet counted more than 22 kms, burning more than 1000 calories (Did not count the elevation-meters ...)
- Counted 65 (!) finds over the day, including the complete LOTR-series (only 1 DNF [xx(]), a beautiful earth cache [^], a mega-mystery , a cute letterbox [^] and several handsome traditional caches at the side of the road .
My personal highlight of this great day came on top of it all: I made my find **#10,000**
- a multi-cache with a great name: Chateau Tongariro [:X] - wow! ...
How lucky I am [:o)] ....
What more shall I say?
I wanted my #10.000 to be a NZ-cache, and it was supposed to be a multi-cache.
It couldn't have turned out better than to have this great cache at this scenic and awesome place as the major milestone in my records - Wow!
Sure this deserves a favorite-point! [^] [:X]
Hey - dear owners around Tongariro - you have cool caches [^] !
A big thanks [:X] to all Owners involved [^] for hiding and maintaining .
And of course a special thanks [:X] [:X] to yorkshirekiwi83 for providing the great LOTR-series **AND my #10.000-multi** - this is awesome! [^]
Cheers from Germany

#13724. Having checked into the Chateau it was time for a spot of caching, and this was the ideal one to start with. No problems getting the coords and a quick find. TFTC.
Day 3 our North Is trip, and today we are traveling from Lower Hutt to Chateau Tongariro. It was rather drizzly at times, and we had to curtail our caching activities as we are fair weather cachers. Luckily the day ended with fine weather and even better, a view of the top of Mt Ruapehu .
We've made it to our destination, and the rain has stopped! After checking into the hotel, we headed out to find a few caches. Soon had the final co-ords and a short walk later, we were signing the log book. Thanks for the interesting info about the hotel and TFTC.

On our second day in the national park there was rain in the morning. After the rain arround 11 a.m. we started our roundtrip to the silica rapits and back to the village. There were a few geocaches on the way so we had lots to on this "bad-weather-day". In the afternoon we decided to look for the geocaches near the bruce road.
This one was our first multi in new zealand. It was a very short one.
Thank you very much for the cache in this stunning national park.
Greetings from Switzerland, Team Fludia

Got the info the day before but couldn't find the final - overnight I realised I'd put the coordinates in wrong! Returning the next morning we had success at last! TFTC
Had high tea at the chateau and then went in search of this cache. Nice quick and easy multi in a beautiful local.

Wow, yes, this is a late log. This was part of a fabulous trip to NZ that got me way behind my logging. I've always liked to tell stories about caching adventures, and so even though life was getting busy, I told myself each of these caches deserves a story and so I'll log them as soon as I have time. In hindsight, I probably should have just logged them, because now many years later I have a huge pile of draft logs and unfortunately am destined to write a generic log just so that I can get back into caching. Having so many to log I think ultimately contributed to the several year slump I'm realizing I need to get out of. So anyways, since it's time to get back into the hobby, this log will have to suffice. Here's to many great adventures ahead, and the ability to tell future stories. This was part of a fabulous trip which I really enjoyed! TFTC!
Found on our big Christmas evening hunt around Whakapapa village! TFTC
