Nice quick walk through a burnt out area ready for fire season. Tftc. Heading home now
Quite a hike in, love the camo, does seem slightly broken but we can see the picture
Leaving the main fire trail towards this cache I followed what the geocaching map suggested might be a track. There kind of appeared to be momentarily, but I lost it quickly so had fun doing some mild bush bashing to get here. The tree and cache were easily found. The cache itself has clearly seen better days. It is no longer attached to the tree as it apparently once was and whatever scary thing it used to be is no longer. Nonetheless, a satisfying find. TFTC
long walk into the forest with no clue where I was going but eventually got to the cache TFTC:)
Out on the bikes for a very big day of caching with CammJT and AdamWickenton; starting bright and early at 9am and finishing up at 4:30pm, covering a total of about 30 kilometers, with the main goal of completing the NHL series, and collecting a couple others on the way. The 36th, and last cache of our mammoth day through Lysterfield Lake Park. A little bit of bush bashing to GZ, where the cache was quickly located. Tftc 88andy88
Today, myself, Cooper from fisherfamfive and AdamW headed out to Lysterfield Lake Park with the main goal of completing the whole NHL series, with some extra caches along the way too. Our absolutely massive day of 36 total finds (and 0 DNFs!) ended with this cache, and the long bush bash ahead of us made me secretly hope the GPS behaved and that there would be enough of a cacher trail to follow to GZ. Thankfully both worked out in our favour, as Cooper made the find after a brief search. We would have stopped to take in the pretty area around GZ for longer, however darkness was falling quickly and we were all ready for a sit down after the huge day. Tftc 88andy88
A lovely spring day saw us caching at Lysterfield enjoying the bush walk while picking a few smilies, including this cache.
After climbing over many fallen trees we found the nice container in good condition.
Thanks 88andy88 for the placement.

Trail showing on the map is non existent and there’s lots of felled trees to navigate. Startled a pretty decent sized roo on the way also. Definitely wouldn’t attempt this at night.
Coordinates showing as roughly 10m off but great cache! Thanks for the hide!

Not sure about doing this at night their are no tracks anymore just lots of felled trees that have just been left. Their was alot of prodding going on with my walking pole as I tested each step in front of me so that I didn't fall down some random hole.. located cache, yes lid is damaged but log was ok to sign.
Spent an hour on a lovely autumn day to do a bit of caching and walking in Lysterfield
Track walking, bush bashing, road walking, roo tracks and rock outcrops added to the fun
Cache was found in pieces as earlier logged. Log signed and returned before moving on
Many thanx to 88andy88 for the cache and ongoing maintenance

The log book was lingering outside the container. All good, but it seems there used to be more to this cache...
The maps were telling big fibs about a trail here, there was nothing but an old roo trail that hadn't been used in a few years. After some stomping about, I found the cache, but it seems to have fallen off its perch. The lid is cracked and the "surprise" has fallen into the tube.
I love these caches that require a little more effort to get. Thanks

After a short hike, I managed to find the cache easily enough.
Great little spot for a walk

The lid for the cache is damaged, and as a result the cache was was holding water.
Log book is fine, but the pen is not working (gave it a shot at trying to dry it too).

A lovely winters day in Melbourne enticed me outdoors.
Very overgrown with lots of fallen trees. Both natural and more so by chain saw not sure what is going on with that. Signage says planned burn for spring so might be prep for the burn?
Interesting cache needs a little TLC. I will message the owner
Thanks 88andy88

Time to head home from this road trip. Stopping along the way in Bunyip, Garfield and a few other spots as well as a late afternoon check in at Lysterfield.
A bush bash in to this cache and it was soon located. It is no longer “attached” which makes the hide a little more obvious than it otherwise would have been originally.
A well constructed cache!
Thanks 88andy88 for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Six weeks into the year and I'd only found one cache. I set out this afternoon to make amends. I almost lived in this park when I started caching but I think today is the first time I've been back in at least four years. A bit of a bush bash to reach this one but no trouble was encountered in finding it. Cache and log in good condition.

After attempting and failing to find a cache in Birdsland this afternoon I decided to come here and find this cache instead! I was almost certain I had found it before but there was no smiley on my map so I figured I give it another go.
Walking in through the scrub I was met with hundreds of monarch butterflies floating around. With every step I seemed to be putting more to flight, it was quite breath-taking!
I started on the barely there track and eventually headed uphill as I seemed to remember the tree being difficult to access from the bottom last time I came through here. I was happily walking along fallen logs and following roo trails until I looked down at my phone and realised I was wayyy futher up the hill than I needed to be. Oh well, it can't be that hard to get to from here I thought... I was wrong haha!
The scrub had gotten very thick and as I attempted to head towards the cache my boots kept getting stuck in holes between the bracken. I slowly picked/stumbled my way down the hill and made it safely to GZ.
I found and signed the logbook, with my heart rate noticeably slower than last time, as I knew what I was in for today. Looking through the logs it seems I found this in August last year, but I'll log it today for both times. The way out was definitely easier than the way in, as is usually the case. Although the track is still unrecognisable!
Thanks for the cache and fun, twice over!

YAHOOOO!!!! My very first DGS cache. Okay so maybe it wasn’t one of the hairier ones, but I’m pretty chuffed with myself all the same. I didn’t do this at night time because I am out hiking alone but I imagine it would be awesome at night because the tree itself is scary, let alone the container.
Left one of my painted rocks.
TFTCDGS. This has made my day.️
A favourite for sure

A nice challenging little walk, and some absolutely awesome camo, I really enjoyed this one! That’s a favourite point from me…TFTC
Don’t be fooled by the maps - there is no track here!!
Yesterday I walked along this ‘track’ from the granite summit track for half an hour with my 8yo. It was wet, muddy, overgrown, and he cried the whole way. When I got to gz I didn’t even bother looking for the cache because it was the biggest disaster of a walk ever. If I didn’t have gps leading me along the invisible path we would have gotten lost and lived the rest of our lives in the bush here!
I will return on a less wet day perhaps without geo-son in tow.

The path wasn't totally clear in a couple of spots and found myself bushbashing until I was able to get back on it. Apart from my poor heart, the actual find went well.
Btw, it's a little damp in the container...

A quick walk into the bush as I passed here today.
Cache is still in good nick after being chucked about 3 meters away in shock and surprize at what I discovered but I managed to get the log signed and the container returned.
Cache logged with sanitised hands.

Awesome to be out and about with the girl gang and instead of dad man we too some friends to introduce them to caching! Great find for the kids and lots of foo sightings
Out at Listerfield again hoping to turn more of the caches in the area into smileys . Its a great sunday morning for a walk . I bush bashed over to GZ after finding the nearby Rock n' Knoll Cache. Took a bit of searching but eventually spotted something not quite right . Liked the container . Thanks 88andy 88

Out caching for the day, I was walking past this one and decided I could brave the snake infested ground (seriously why so many this year?) and go in search. I was glad I did. No snakes and a favourite point. There was, however a nice big tiger snake at GZ of the next cache. I didn’t make a find on that! Thanks for placing the cache 88andy88
While the race that stops the nation was on this geofamily decided to head to Lysterfield for some caching. What a lovely day to stroll through this park. I don't think we've been to this section of Lysterfield Park before so it was a treat. When we got close to GZ the family decided to stay on the track and argue about something, I'm not quite sure what but I went off the beaten track to search for the prize. It took a little bit of searching but managed to spot something that looked like it didn't belong. Extracted the cache, log signed and replaced.

The old man looked majestic as we approached in the dark. Even us old guys need some love and attention at times. Very nicely done Andy. A fav point from me. Signed, said goodbye to the old fella, and moseyed off to find another cache. Tftc.
This morning was my first visit to this area of the park. After finding another cache nearby, proceeded to this one. Saw the 'dead thing' and made my approach. Really appreciate the effort put into the cache construction. The arachnids were a nice touch. In good condition.
Even though it was daytime. I was still half expecting something to jump out at me. Cache was brilliantly camouflaged and as soon as I work out how to get into it I'll be signing the log. Can see now why this would be best found at night. TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams
Well that took some effort. The wood on this brilliant construction had obviously expanded somewhat and so took a bit of convin I g to access the log book. Got there in the end though.
I was WAAY to soft to try this at night after reading the description, I wee my pants and the sight of a DEER let along ‘dead things’
So since I would be on my own I decided I’d go during the day and maintain com’s with the DIRTY crew while attempting this one.
Took me a minute as the hose was deleted enough I looked past it a couple times !
Clever and NICE SIZE CONTAINER !
I do love some effort put in.
Good to see the semi retired CO is keeping busy with building cool caches, keep
Up the good work mate

Yep definitely dead! Love this cache so gets another favorite. Very clever! Thanks 88andy88
Thanks 88andy88. All in good condition here. Chest pains are normal aren’t they? Ha.
Naturally we took the hard way in, completing missing any sort of track or trail to follow. Due to finally having some rain, the ground was a bit “moist” so I carefully stepped over logs, dead trees and any other obstacles that I could fall over. Just as we were nearing GZ, and a slight decline, the geo hubby turned and said “don’t slip”, one second later I was on my bottom, then back. Now I was a little moist:) We’re both a little nervous about this CO’s caches after completing Knot Frightening Enough, so when when the brilliantly camouflaged cache was discovered, I took a few steps back, just in case. Yep, got us again. Typically, we found the trail on our way out.
Thanks 88andy88 for the fun and the fright.

Early morning walk around the Lysterfield tracks to catch up the NHL series before very hot day in the afternoon. Very quiet tracks. Nice and found. Cool cache. Thanks 88andy88 for placing the cache.
The problem with delayed logs is the caches get confused. Well the cacher does anyway. I made a log for another cache in the area but confused it with this one. I guess it highlights the importance of logging caches as soon as you find them.
I was in the area the previous night and was collecting a couple of caches. It was only once I got home that I realised there was another one very close to where I was that I did not collect. So back I went to collect this one. There is a lovely path running parallel to the road but that would make things far too easy and the GPS was showing a slightly different angle. Straight through the bush. There are a lot of trees down which made the going harder than it should have been but maybe that is the T3 part of the adventure. Once at GZ noticed so many options where this could be and after a couple of misses I noticed this creative hide. Very clever.
Thanks 88andy88 for the cache.

This afternoon I enjoyed a pleasant walk around Lysterfield Park and decided to stop and have a look. This is a nice part of the park, and after following the little trail I was close to GZ. Up a little and the very well made hide was soon discovered. That is some very good camo, a great hide!

My gps was a little off, but we found it. I love a bit of good camo, TFTC. Fright was a nice touch.
Out this way with Happy pants and omegaman1971 with our bikes, collecting the last of this NHL puzzle series. Took the opportunity to also grab anything else we came across, along the way. There was heaps of muggles and wildlife about, along the trails. We had no DNF's and made some good discoveries and clever hides during the day. We had some fun and laughs along the way, then even ended the day, with a bit of drama.
Nice to see something a bit different, so found after a short search.
Thanks 88andy88 for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

It was a cold day and we decided to stay indoors. After a game of trivial pursuit the geomums got restless so to the moans of the genius geokids... we hate geocaching... we set off to get s few local NHL solved and whatever else was close. It wasnt dark but with so many trees down we played "the ground is lava" most of the way to this cache. The kids had a ball so i had to remind them they hate geocaching. GeoboyB11 made the find... he thought it was awesome (even tho he hates geocaching). We love ur efforts here so giving a fave. Thanks Andy.
Well we thought the terrain was a lot harder than 2.5 but i guess each of us have different perceptions of difficulty levels. So up the hill we went, then went level and then went down until we arrived at a likely looking object. I suppose on a cold dark night this could be frightening, especially with bugs dropping down the back of your neck, ha ha. The hide was good, pity I did not bring the Ryobi with me... Anyway it took some time before we could extract the cache and a hell of a lot quicker to put it back.
So another fav point for cache construction and thanks for the cache 88andy88

Out and about with Mr The Swaggies for the day working on the NKL series. Made the diversion to pick this one up. Interesting piece of work. Made the easy find. Thanks for the cache 88andy88
Heading off the path we discovered this well constructed cache which was cleverly hidden. We didn’t attempt it at night, but the park was pretty empty on this Monday, so it was still eerie.
We took the Trackable. Thank you so much for putting this cache together, we enjoyed the find!

Do we dare look for a Fright Dead Tree? The lure of a geocache beckons, so off we go. When we approached GZ, many trees were beginning to give us a fright. Thank goodness GPS took us straight to GZ. Love the effort out into a well crafted hide. TFTC 88andy88.

Wow I would be scared out of my brain if I did this at night!great area and cool tree, and the cache, woweeee! Love the effort and care put into this, thanks for a brilliant cache!
Is that a walker walking past?(the walking dead)....no just some muggle hikers. Left Garmin travel bug. Took other bug.
Thank you 88andy88 another great hide. Have left a trackable to keep the fright tree gods happy
Headed here from Knot Frightening and happened upon a geo trail, so that was helpful! Spotted a few kangaroos on the way, and lots of their poop, until my GPS led me right to the dead tree. Once again, very impressive camo and construction, love it!
This was another great quality cache. The last one for the day as it is just too hot to do any more, so was pleased that the last two were worth the walk. Another favourite. Thanks for the caches, I look forward to doing more of them.

13yo and dad needed to burn off a little energy before family Christmas descends on our house. So we rode a loop of the north end of Lysterfield Park. Easy find but had us stumped to work out how to retrieve. Finally worked it out, opened the cache and a very real Huntsman scurried across our hands and jumped to the ground - that’s a great touch!!
Out on a great day for a walk in the bush with a kangaroo or two and
maybe a cache as well. After a nice stroll of the track it was soon located
but a little bit of seniors moment it took a little longer than it should have to
sign the log. Thanks 88andy88 for a great bush cache. Fav added.

I was back in the area today in an area I haven't walked much as this area is huge and there is so many trails. No one was around today and I followed the trail as much as i could til i went off track to find the cache. I searched for a bit here and found nothing so i expanded the seaech area and found the cache nicley tucked away about 11m from where my GPSr wanted me. Stamped and returned as found.

Thought we find some more caches around Lysterfield. Sun is out and the birds are chirping ... perfect weather. Was a lovely walk around here, and the kids enjoyed sitting on the rocks admiring the view and sunshine... Even saw some Black Rock Lizards (so the park ranger told who happened to pull up as we were admiring them).

Well with the weather forecast being pretty ordinary I wasn't expecting to be out here today but after a bit of hike to get the final of the hockey series we headed in to this one during the day so we didn't get scared. (Plus I am never over this way at night so it had to be the day time)
The smallest geokid found this one really quickly and she was very happy about it. Really nicely done, I'm giving it a favourite.
Thanks 88andy88 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

After finding perhaps the sequel first, this time the path to GZ was miguided as I took the high side of the ridge and found no clear trail. Back tracks and bush bashing later and a quick find at GZ. Love the construction. tftc
Out with buddyclub to pick up the last of the NHL series and decided to grab the nearby trads as well. Initially had some difficulty - the lid was stuck - and then was nervous about what might be inside but buddyclub was on 'opening' duty so no shrieking...out loud anyway! Tftc
Back to finish the NHL series today with CashewMinx and thought we would grab these nearby ones too. Absolutely beautiful day for it and didn't encounter another person which made for ideal hunting conditions Great location for a cache - fits the theme nicely. Not scary in the day time for this little black duck though! Well set up. Fav from us. Cheers for the cache
Just catching up on my logging.... In the area checking out a possible new walk for my walking group. Geodaughter and I made our way to the cache location, spotting a very big kangaroo on the way. Despite my warnings as we approache, geodaughter still got a fright

Found this very nice hide this afternoon this afternoon while grabbing a few outstanding smilies. We entered the forrest and made our way through to the gz and with spot on co-ord's very quickly had this one in hand. Nice work 88andy88 with this hide. Must admit we wussed out on this one and did it during the day, night time would be another story altogether.
Loved this cache, very creative. My GPS was jumping about heaps so I was searching the wrong place. Once I spotted it though, it was pretty obvious. Was trying to figure out how to get to the cache too. Thanks!
