I will reluctantly archive this cache. It was a great idea by trails trails trails (RIP), and caused him a great deal of grief with significant maintenance required. I'll open the spot to somebody else - hopefully they'll tip their hat to trails trails trails in their cache description.
The Hand Gobbler: Heretaunga (Upper Hutt) was transferred from trails trails trails to user wb1116
Found the end of a piece of nylon that looked like it once held a cache. No cache to be found today.Love day walking from Silverstream northwards. Did with MycroMan, Ezratar and the Fairy half.
One of 18 caches located today on an enjoyable bike ride along the Hutt River trail (mostly) from Upper Hutt to Pomare Station. Knew coming up to this one that it would be my 2500th cache, and a good one it was for that ‘honour’. A quick find and worth a favourite! #2500. TFTC.
AT LAST! I can't believe it has been almost 3 years since my abortive attempt for a FTF on this one (and Yeetrees found it 10 minutes before I got there anyway). But we finally scheduled a walk along the Hutt River Trail and this cache was one that we passed. This time we had the perfect situation: a trail completely devoid of people, so I was able to fish around for the nicely concealed cache, retrieve it, sign the log and get it back in place. Mrs B was spotting and as I was screwing up the cache lid announced there were some cyclists that had appeared in view, but the cache was back and we were on our way well before they arrived at GZ.
Thanks trails trails trails for another variation on the cache-hiding theme.

I was up in the Hutt Valley this afternoon and had a bit of time to kill before my next meeting. And so what better way to spend this than by grabbing a cache or two. So after parking as close as I could to GZ, I changed my footwear as it had just started to rain. However, a little bit of rain never hurt anyone… or so I kept telling myself as it continued to get heavier. So after a short hike along the walkway I soon came to GZ. I had just found another cache of yours close by and as I had to wait then for a muggle to pass, well the same one had obviously turned around and come back along the path and once again I found myself waiting... this time pretending to be on a phone call. Once again, once the coast was clear I made a nice quick find. Love this one! So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next hunter. Thank you trails trails trails for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. A favourite point from me. TFTC.
I have finished the Māwaihākona Stream loop caches (with two DNFs ) and returned to the river walkway to get the two or three along here. I saw a cyclist on this section - but apart from that this place is almost deserted. This was a nice easy find; now it's time to start heading back to the car at Country Lane. That's my seventh for the day and seventh by trails trails trails - thanks for the cache!
Another clever wee hide. Had to wait a while for the coast to clear for this one. All safe and dry, TFTC.
Has been hot the last few days and a break in the weather finnaly came so decided to stretch the legs and do a trail Lots of neat hides along this trail. love the name Tftc
Well the weekend was nearing by and I was wondering what I could get up to then a fellow geocacher contacted me asking if I wanted to go biking this weekend and with the family away why not I thought so Friday came around got sorted for the Saturday adventure then set off early Saturday morning reaching The Upper Hutt area around 9am we had a cuppa or two or three hen though we better stop chatting and get a move on, we set off to do a trail but while doing that make sure we also get the odd ones in between and a bit out and about as we go, as ya know when caching time ticks away rather fast so we needed to keep an eye on the time as I still had to return home sometime today., lucky for daylight savings and great weather on our side today. What a lovely area to cache in we last came here with the Mega on, so only 3 months ago but never got too much time for biking trails, the weekend went so fast but most enjoyable. It wasn't long before we had our first cache in hand then second third and so on, we signed the logs and placed the caches back exactly where we found them, a few muggles today but no one seemed to be worried about what we were up, was caching with 2 Bulbars today. caches were good no DNFs so far it was a nice quick find. better get on our way to the next cache then get a bit cleaned up have a drink and a bite to eat then start to get ready to head for home all in all a great day great company. Thank you so much for taking the time to place a cache here and give us yet another adventurous day out. Dropped nothing signed log, took nothing

For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

On a mission to grab the caches needed to reach 365 for the year, 15 to go...took the river trail down past moonshine park tonight. The name says it all lol...geo Labrador enjoyed a splash around in the stream. TFTC
After timing my execution perfectly I was able to grab the cache amongst the periodic foot traffic this morning, TFTC

Jess.daphne and I took to the streets of Wellington to find some caches after the mega event and this was one of them. Tftc from team Jeje.
Found with Injeanious as we explored the area during the Mega weekend. We really enjoyed the walk around the stream here and the caches along the way! TFTC!
Down in the Capital for an extra long weekend before exams start, with Jag50, Merlot58 & Bertie Blowfish. We walked around this lovely trail by the river. Mr Jag found this one and was brave enough to stick his hand in and retrieve it.
With a group of fellow west Aucklanders Merlot58, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish To attend the MEGA and for a fun long Labour weekend’s caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for setting up and maintaining the caches. Sorry for cut and paste logs. Another quick find whilst out walking in the area.
I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go.another quick easy find on the trail
I've been putting this one off for a while now fearing that I might lose a hand But decided to be brave and give it a go. Turns out not so scarey after all. Cool cache thanks.
Finally caching up on logs been overseas. Enjoyed our caching during the Mega. TFTC
Found while enjoying our caching around the area. last for the area. Signed as Taniwha8 - caching with Dodge1923, Remaker13, Riser5, Daffy NZ. Thanks for the cache
An unexpected caching adventure. So close why not do more. A good hide. Tftc Logged as taniwha8
Cool one! I really enjoyed this little caching walk - nice to avoid the hoardes of cachers for a bit. Tftc
Another quick find of a quality cache, thanks for these trails x 3.
Mega Saturday, and Capperz and I have a few goals for the day. All lab caches to solve, plenty of events targeted to get to, and the most different types in a day for me. Add in that a bit of pathtag swapping (finally!), and it was pretty successful.
First mega for me, and loved the experience. Kept bumping into a few familiar faces on our travels and met a few new ones as well. We also didn’t embarrass ourselves at the quiz later on in the evening. Thanks to all COs, especially those keeping maintenance up on their caches especially for the event.

A good cache hide here, T F T C t t t
Back on the bike trail again now and same as earlier we got into a good successful routine;
Pedal - Stop - Find- Sign - Replace - Repeat.
Day 1 of the actual MEGA. It's the Saturday and both ricardinho.nz and I were awake early in our respective accommodations and keen as can be to getcon the trail nice and early. We were in the car before 0700 and breakfast at Maccas got us underway prior to a real busy day. We had a River Hutt-side cycle, the events and registration at Cossie Club earlyish before racing off to get all the details required for the Lab caches, attend a few associated events, another bike-ride along the nice and flat Hutt river-side. Finally there was a Flashmob before a 'few more' then the Geo-quiz where the upper South did nicely in a podium position - PHEW! What a day!!
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there isn’t a lot of down time but it's great to meet the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip
In Wellington for Mega with others from the Bay of Plenty.
Signed log Team BOP to save room. The team consists of my self Tnxpro , Philip.Perry and McJandals.

Found with StreetWakerNZ as we drove from Naenae to Upper Hutt to attend the Fish and Chip event. We still had an hour to kill before the event, and the day was lovely, so decided to do this loop walk and find a few caches .

Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Davidson Clan, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, TNXPRO and Philip.Perry and signed Team BOP. (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
(# 4660). Today is the day I assigned to get the remainder of the caches required in order to complete the Bakers Dozen Challenge where one needs to get at least 50 caches per month for 13 consecutive months. A quick find as I spotted something unusual. Got my hand back safely. Everything in order. TFTC
I was in Upper Hutt for a road running competition and thought I might find a few geocaches as a warm up, felt good when I found this instantly and luckily my hand did not get gobbled up. Logged, thanks for the cache.
Out for a river walk with the wife, decided to do the geocaches along the trail

With a name like that, I let B do the honours. He managed it without losing an appendage. TFTC T3!
Sat down next to it at first without realizing I had looked straight at it. This was a cool one! TFTC, luckily my hand wasn't gobbled
Replaced cache with fingers crossed that the muggler will not return. Cheers
#5344. Been out of the game for almost 2 weeks over on the Chathams. Needed a cache find today to stop my stats going past my worst ever inactive streak of 11 days. After a short visit to Manor Park it was up the road to Silverstream. Parked in the carpark near the driving range and headed up the path to GZ. Spotted the hand gobbler immediately. What I failed to spot was this cache had been temporarily disabled. So when I reached into the gobbler I found a container with no lid and no logbook. Not to be deterred I found a small plastic bag in my kit and tore out a page from my notebook. Signed the log and placed inside the plastic bag and tied it on so it doesn't fall into the drink. Thanks for hiding it here trails trails trails. Claiming 771 m from cache back to carpark for DGSC distance to find challenge.
I was not afraid to look for this one and very nice to see the cache in good condition. Thanks CO for the cache
