Heading home after a two week holiday on Norfolk Island. Love seeing these monuments, so it was nice to stopThank you Balla-Rat-Black for placing this game piece here, contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Indeed a long walk. These monuments seem to be everywhere. What a great idea for a 1700km cache crawl. Events. Fun caches. Why not? Just throwing it out there. Found on the 2024 epic Norfolk Island jaunt. Thanks Balla-Rat-Black and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! This was a great one. Loved the cryptic hint and my bro found it straight away. Well done.
Found it. Quick find today in some pretty nasty weather, watching for flying branches and trying to stay dry, but still collected a few smilies. TFTC
Would not have known this was here. Liked the pink pencil so just had to sign in pink! TFTC
Out in the PeuGEOt on my own today as both Mrs Cogs and little littlecogs are both crook. Want to have 500 chalked up before my knee replacement next month. TFTC
Found It.........While up in the area working we decided to take the scenic way home. Once at GZ a quick search soon had the cache in hand. So with the log signed we continued our journey. Thanks Balla-Rat-Black for the cache
Condition of the cache area has been assessed and it is now safe to enter the are to search for this cache again.
Highway is open, no access restrictions are in place, cache location was not affected by the fire. Fire is still active to the north, but does not directly affect the area but I would suggest checking ergency.vic.gov.au before heading for any of the caches in the general area. Cache should be reactivated, and I suggest Bunjil to reactivate ASAP please.
Highway beside the cache has reopened, and the fire did not come near the cache location. But, as the fire is still active to the north of the GZ, and there is still a risk of adverse for conditions elevating in the following week, I will leave visiting the GZ to check the cache condition until completely safe to do so. I recommend Bunjil to keep it disabled for the moment, and all Geocachers to stay well away from the whole region until the fires are completely extinguished. As a commercial driver who has to work in the area, I have seen how dangerous the area is as a fire risk. Stay safe.
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
After reading the description Im thinking what am I in for here!! Alas not to be and made a very quick find!! TFTC!!
Definitely a less visited spot now the highway duplication is here. A quick find and in good condition. TFTC.
Cache was open and the contents strewn around. Amazingly both logs were dry given out had just rained.Put everything back as it should be.
A nice quick find was had here! Cache was out in the open so it was spotted driving by :p.
Signed the log and replaced adding some coverage. You would never know this place excited if it wasn't for the Geocache here.
Thank you

Mr JTreeTrack2 has been up to Dromaniax Moonambel property with Mr Dromaniax and cleaned up the old shed, removing all the drums that had held an array of chemicals in the distant past, and had dropped them all off at the Beaufort Transfer Station.
With that job complete, some enjoyment was required in the shape of finding a few caches in the area.
Loved studying our explorers in Primary School so happy to check out this cache.
Stamped and put back carefully.

We were heading back to Beaufort, and this one was a short detour from the Freeway, so we turned off and stopped at what was an old roadside stop.
Unfortunately, the plaques have been removed from the memorial.
We made a quick find of a cache in very good condition. The description of the container may need updating.
Thank you Balla-Rat-Black & Tigersden, for this Traditional cache.

Nice easy find with hubby Wespro last Sunday on my birthday caching weekend getaway. Ooops it was this one that had the spider. Thanks

It's day 4 of our long weekend, and we're meandering our way back home.
I've discovered an error in my accounting. I'd left this cache off my list of "caches found". *This* cache had the huge eight-legged guardian, not "East-not-West".
Thanks heaps, Balla-Rat-Black and Tigersden!

A very nice sir to stop and weird to think that this service road was how we used to get to and from Adelaide from Melbourne for all those years.

Nice quick find. Good to have a find, when we haven't been all that successful today in Beaufort looking for caches.
Amazing to see how much Thomas Mitchell achieved in only a reasonably short time and the extensiveness of the expedition. Thx BallRatBlack. Find 84. JJHHXX

Nice little find near mount buangor! If anyone’s interested, there’s a great overnight hike up at mount buangor called the beeripmo walk! My dad and I (13 yrs) went there earlier in the year! It’s lots of fun here’s some links with more info for it! https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/victoria/beeripmo-walk-and-mount-buangor-loop https://www.trailhiking.com.au/hikes/beeripmo-walk/

As Vinz travels home from his week of setting fire to the land, it's time for a bit of a bypass off the freeway to find a few caches.
Given his great age Vinz can recall a day when this monument was on the main hwy, not relegated to a side road and left to fall slowly apart. Yes, the trails of the major were indifferent to those who had called this land home for millennia but just the effort of a white fella walking around this country and making it back are worthy of some respect.
The artifact was found with easy and after leaving his mark, Vinz continues on his never-ending quest.

A quick find while driving to Raglan from Ararat. Nice easy parking for a motoer home. TFTC.
Yes! Found at 7pm, and we so needed to get The Ocean's of the Earth! Only one wonder left to find! Many thanks for this cache Mitch et all. SL Fitted Humpty back in, found extra camo.
Nice easy one to find. Lots of swaps. Wasn't hidden very well. We covered it back up
Quick find. Had done the original on a trip, figured we’d pop in and do the new version
Out and about in the area today with Wozzle 68. We had planned a fiull day of caching in the area and then on to Bunjil’s Cave. The day was of course cut short with news that we would be heading back into lockdown. We only got a few caches done before we needed to return to Ballarat by 1pm.
This was ones of them. Thanks for placing.

Nice easy find! Found after a trek through Mount Buangor State Park. Can't believe this has been here for years and I just found it! Swappable left! Tftc
Everytime my mother saw one of these Cairns on our journeys she would exclaim "He went that-a way!" Fifty years later I never fail to do the same thing. Thanks for the memory.
Our second time caching in this location. Thanks for the break on the way home . TFTC!

A caching and camping trip up to Raglan with my (muggle) partner and day1976, who we met up with at chooknchunk's home, where we camped for two nights.
Some other cachers were staying there as well, so today we all jumped into our 4wds and headed up towards Mt Cole. After visiting the falls with the rest of the group, day1976 and myself (plus muggle partner) headed into town to get me some more fuel, and found this cache on the way there.

A 5 day caching run, over the 2020/2021 New year period saw me leave on the Thursday the 31st of December and travel to the Brisbane Ranges, down to Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Portland, the up to Heywood, Dunkfield and Horsham, camping along the way. On the Saturday I met up with my caching partner, ilukaperi at the home of choocknchunk, where we spread the coronavirus around as much as we could. Enjoyed some 4wding around the Mt Cole area before making our way back home on the Monday.
Woke up,this morning at the Upper Raglan Views campground. After the caretakers cooked a lovely bacon-pancake-eggs breakfast, Micaparamedic, geoturtle37, Papi4506, ilukaperi and myself jumped in our 4wds for an adventure to go and find cascade falls. After finding the falls, ilukaperi and I headed out on our own for an afternoon of caching.
This one was the first for the afternoon. An easy find and I dropped off a TB to continue its journey.

After doing a couple of caches up on the mountain, we made our way into Beaufort via this cache. Amazing to see just how far he did walk. Thanks for the cache.
I have replaced the cache container with one that should remain water tight, and added a second log book, along with a couple more swaps. Container is a bit bigger so there is more room for swaps or travel bugs.

A caching day with FUF009 heading down to the Beaufort area and grabbing caches along the way. From Beaufort we headed out the highway then up to Mount Buangor area grabbing a couple more before heading for home.
This was a quick find just off the highway. Getting to it can be tricky but we sort of worked it out beforehand where we had to go as you have to get off the highway. Once at the spot this was a quick find. Log signed and off we continued.

Our last brief stop for the day. Enjoyed a part of Australia Felix today. Thanks for the smilie on our map!
Hmmm, apparently my cache container repair didn't work, and it is leaking again. As I now do a regular delivery run past there multiple nights a week, I will get a whole new container, with better seals, (And a bit more volume for trades!) and I may be able to do something about the grass, as the original maintenance group (VicRoads!) seem to have forgotten about it since duplicating the highway. I will endeavour to have the new cache in place within a week. Thank you to cachers who report maintenance issues.
Day 131 of our trip. Caching along the way. On the way back from Ballarat today. A total of 1 for the day and 2718 for the trip. TFTC
An easy find once I found my way to the cache. Very solid memorial to the great hiker on his very long walk TFTC
Quick find. Thanks for the info on accessing this cache, it certainly helped.
