Driving the reskins drive and this was pur first stop. WOW! Absolutely stunning! Thank you for placing a cache here. Some really interesting information on how this was formed.
[8996] Holidays on Tasmania, day 7. Today I had to travel the Tarkine Drive alone as my wife stayed sick in our bed & bedfast. A complete circle, starting in Smithton, took 6,5 hours with 10 scenic stops/ short walks and I also logged 12 geocaches along the route, this one for example, a drive by EC so to say. Answers sent via message center. Thanks for placing another EC close to that spectacular route. TFTC!
Thanks Jump Pilot for hiding this cache and giving us some fun chasing it down This was find number 1,086 for us We are traveling Australia full time in a Coaster Bus and of course grabbing some caches along the way. [Feel free to follow our journey HERE...](https://linktr.ee/SalandAnth)
Today Im starting out early from Smithton to do a lap along the coast, then head into The Tarkine and back to some tall timber where Im staying. Its gonna be a huge day exploring, driving and caching You could easily miss this sinkhole while driving down this road, which makes me wonder how many more underground voids are around just waiting to collapse??TFTC Jump PilotKeep smiling
Today we did a loop around the Tarkine from our base at Julius River. We had an amazing day out we loved the area and especially that it isnt overrun by tourists meaning could be immersed in nature - brilliant. This was another super example of a sinkhole in the Tarkine. What a lovely spot TFTC
Our second day driving through this beautiful area and stopped here for a look see. Absolutely stunning and the reflection on the water made it even more stunning. Answers have been sent. Thanks Jump Pilot
Find Number 2632 found at 12:20. Today we found 5 caches. We had 3 DNFs. This was the 4th find of the day
Day 6 of our tour round Tasmania. Today we drove from Stanley to Arthur River via the Tarkine Drive, in gale force winds and sudden heavy showers of rain. We did, however, manage to attempt some caches between showers.
Given a short break in the rain it was good that we didn't have to hike a long way for this one. Answers have been sent to the CO.
Thanks Jump Pilot for the cache.

The colours of the mosses and other vegetation here are brilliant. Thanks for the information about the sink hole.
We drove past this and had to reverse up to do. A nice little sinkhole. Photo below.
Woah! This one should be called a stink hole! That black still water has been sitting there for years with who knows what rotting below the water. Don't fall in!
Thanks for the earthcache.
Thanks for the earthcache.
We collected this one while out driving the Tarkine. A beautiful place. Answers sent to the CO. TFTC
Finally got around to logging this after sending the answers to the owner
Great place

3 days off from work, and Geo Kid O joined me on a journey to Stanley and then down along the western explorer road towards Corinna. We have a great time finding a number of caches and driving a road I had not travelled on before.
The Western Explorer road was closed for a while and recently had been reopened with a new bridge near Balfour. Some very interesting sights along the way, with part of the road feeling more like a forest track, and other parts felt like a place where no one else has gone in the past, other than on the road. The open button grass plains were amazing along with the mountain views.
We stayed in Stanely, and the caches in and around Stanely were very good, including one walk to the top of the Nut. Gee that is a steep 400 metre walk.
Thank you for the cache which was part of our journey

I’ve wanted to come to Tasmania for ever, it’s always just been too expensive to bring our 4wd and van over, nearly 2.5k just for the boat (return) that $ always seemed to be have been better off spent ‘up the road’ on the big island for a few weeks rather than coming over. Anyway when plans were made to do a Big Lap we knew that it must respectfully include a lap of the little Island as well.
Having sold our hobby farm and put all of our possessions into storage here you have us, on the road wild and free in Tasmania.
Sorry for the generic log, but time, data and reception (gosh Tassy has spasmodic reception) are all factors in the decision to use a copy and paste log, we will always endeavour to leave a photo or two with each log and always leave a favourite point and unique comment(S) where applicable for the truly outstanding caches.
Earth, Virtual, Letterbox, Handmade and Gadget caches are always at the top of the list for us to find.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.

I was here early in the morning so there was no traffic which was convenient as I had driven past and had to back track. It was also convenient that it was located beside the road. Thank you Jump Pilot for the cache because without it this sinkhole would be driven past and not stopped to enjoy.
On a day trip around the Tarkine Loop. Great to have some caches on the way, and earth caches in particular are so interesting.
Thanks for giving us an extra reason to stop Jump Pilot.

Driving along and almost missed this cache, stopped here and had a look at this amazing sinkhole, these are very random! But a cool spot
Today I set off to do the tarkine drive and find the caches within in the area. Set off from home at 5am and covered just over 800km for 38finds plus 5 labs. An amazing area that a lot of people need to visit.
Thanks for the cache

Found this cache back on the 10th Feb but forgot to log at the time. Had no idea this beauty was here right under our noses. Thank you for highlighting this place you get a fav from us for doing so.
T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!
Today we are travelling from Arthur River through Trowutta Forest Reserve, and plan to take a couple of walks to get some exercise! An easy stop here, and a good discussion about the questions. We feel we are "experts" on sinkholes now! I have sent my answers to the CO. TFTEc, Jump Pilot.

Another one of many on our travels through Tassie [^]
Kind of weird to think that if I just pulled out that one log it could all drain away

Op onze rit op door de Tarkine staat het bezoeken van the sinkhole op het lijstje. Wat een prachtige rit en mooie omgeving.
On our drive through the Tarkine, The Sinkhole is on the list. What a beautiful ride and beautiful surroundings.

Another fascinating spot visited today whilst touring in the Tarkine. A nice and lazy earthcache but still very interesting. Thanks for setting up this earthcache.

Staying in Smithton for a week during our month long exploration of Tasmania. I had heard that this was an area not to miss and after our day exploring, I wholeheartedly agree. Fabulous piece of the country. Answers have been sent to CO. Thanks Jump Pilot
With a bit of time off and a chance to get away from Sydney was what I needed TeamMerlin was also free at the time. So Tasmania seemed to be a good place to spend about a week. It has been a while since I last went when I was there for photography and before I knew about Geocaching. We found a lot of nice caches including one of the oldest caches which was a Hide month I was missing. A lot of puzzles had been solved either before we went down or the night before between us. While here we also visited a lot of EarthCache and learnt a lot more about what makes up Tasmania. Stopped nearby so headed a bit further to this EarthCache got the required information and teamMerlin sent in the joint response
Thanks for bringing me to the area and giving us something different to learn Jump Pilot

Well needing a earthcache and it's getting a bit thin round home so a bit of a drive was needed, a stunning location i would love to share pictures of but they would be spoilers.
A great day out so thanks for the earthacche.

A nice Earthcache on a great tourist drive around the Tarkine Tourist route in some typical rainforest weather.
A pleasant spot to stop for a lunch break too. And by the way this place is really worthy of a visit as it appears that not many people realize that it has been opened up again after the fires of 2016. Wacked a Favorite point on this one!

Wow a driveby earth cache. Seems funny but it was still suitable in an amazing area. The lichens and mosses where so thick. Favourite awarded. Hope to come back to the area some time to spend more time exploring where I don't have to meet the requirements of other family members. TFTC
Thank for bringing us to the area, would not have come if if hadn’t been for the cache. Favourite point for the site. Answers sent. TFTC
We almost drove right past this cache even though we were on the lookout for it. In fact we did go past and had to walk back. Fascinating earth feature. Thanks for placing this very interesting cache.
Had to dodge a snake on the road just around the corner before the cache. Read the info and took a few photos.
This was a great 'drive by' earthcache on our Sunday afternoon tour of this beautiful area. Took some most picturesque photos and gathered the information required. Many thanks for putting an earthcache here Jump Pilot, and am giving it a favourite point.
Spending some quality time in Tasmania on holidays and exploring some very special places. This Sinkhole was amazing. The photos didn’t do it justice. We heard some really weird bird noises in the bush while we were here. Thanks for a great EC.
Tassie Trip Day 33 - Today was a great day for the Tarkine dirve so we started at the final location as the weather was good and the first half being in the forset and at hieight. So the trip started with a cache close to town and then on our way to the main drive area.
We arrived at this wonderful place to stop and collect the required infroamton and admire what has happened.
Thanks for the lesson Jump Pilot.

We loved this magical spot and thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. In the sunshine the mosses glowed an emerald green. A perfect spot for an earthcache
Another fabulous EC. The information you have provided really adds to the experience of visiting this amazing area. Thanks
This is not a good road to take after a stormy night. The road was littered with debris from trees and there were quite a few fallen ones too. Two were right across the road, one we could move the second was too big and we had to move the road instead ( a video on the Geocaching Tasmania Facebook page will show you what I mean). Looking back now it was fun but could have been dangerous.
We found a couple of great caches along this drive but ran out of time for some of the side trips so will have to come back. This little sinkhole was just stunning, sadly the photos didn't t do it justice but it was raining but we saw it in the flash, in all its glory and that is better than any photo.
Permission to log received.
Thanks Jump Pilot, just one question: Who took the other goal post away?

Today we drove the Tarkine Loop and I was hoping for a good haul of smilies. It was not to be. There were 2DNFs and in one location there were 4 vehicle loads of muggle campers still packing up, so I didn't even try and the third disappointment was caused by lack of safe parking space for a big rig like ours. We did have some success in finding caches and I will hang on with bated breath to see if my answers to 2 Earth caches are acceptable.
Many thanks to all COs for placing these caches which add interest and excitement to our travels.

Hi there Jump Pilot.
We cached around North West Tasmania today - and found your cache **"Tarkine Sinkhole"** at 1:42:00 PM. (This brings our total find count to 18448).
We ended up finding a variety of container types and sizes on our journey & found 13 caches (& DNF'd 1).
Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Email with answers sent to CO. This is a lovely place to visit. It was raining here today and that made the sinkhole seem to sparkle as the raindrops fell. A kookaburra landed in one of the trees here too. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot.
Driven past here many times and had not noticed the sign before now. TFTC Our answers have been sent via email message.
Today we decided to do the Tarkine Drive. We stopped at many nice spots. We did in total six caches. This was one of them.
A short stop at the sinkhole to take a photo and to figure out the answers. There are many sinkholes in this area. Nice!
Thanks for showing. Tftc
