Another quick find on a caching expedition near Leeston. Fourth cemetery cache of the day ... Lots of Irish buried here. This was the last success of the day. TFTH!
Another nice peaceful place today to visit. Quick find at GZ, left a new piece of log, TFTC
Today I decided to venture out towards the Rakia River to locate caches on the northern side of it.Some people do not like to mix.Cheers for the cache, Rustyman16.
I made a detour on my way to Leeston to find a few caches along the way. A cemetary in two parts it seems. I found the two caches in the other part of this cemetary then drove round to find this one. All good and found in the first place I looked. TFTC, Biggles.
After my early morning find this morning, I was 13 caches away from getting the Hard achievement in this months Wheel of Challenges. So might as well complete it.
Quickly found, the first of several cemeteries I visited tonight for caches.
TFTC Gilligans_army, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 8 find(s) of 12 today, making this find #3975

A quick stop on the way back towards town. GPS was very indecisive. As I neared one tree, it pointed me back to another. As I turned around and went there, it pointed me to the former again. Maybe Sun's too hot today

I found this today. Not too hard to fund but I wish I knew sooner that I was looking for a clear Tupperware box, haha. Apart from this, it was easy enough to find!
TFTC. I was driving past and saw 2 DNFs on last 2 logs. Decided to have a look. Quick find.
Cache is in good condition.

Found after a bit of a search with campmotherandken! Getting cold ...off to Rakaia huts I think! TFTC
Didnt take too long, i was looking at the wrong place for a bit until my gps locked on
Bewdy day to finish off the year with some caches, and hit a couple of targets.... Cheers!
Have enjoyed a little trio of cemetery caches . Great day for it, apart from the wind. Tftc
Great place for it, we got a couple of caches this morning before the predicted heat sets in!
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
I was reminded that there were still caches to log from our recent epic adventures in Christchurch. This was one of those hides... We seem to have hit a small pocket of cemeteries quite close together - No doubt, there are stories to explain why this is so... A quick find at the Ellesmere Catholic Cemetery. Thanks Rustyman16 and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Hadn't been out caching for the day with mum in forever, so had arranged today as a day to colour in the calendar a bit more, and find a whole bunch more caches if possible.
We ended up with about 40 for the day, along with a few DNFs, and ended up somehow all the way in Ashburton - that was not fully expected - but the places caching takes you! Haha!
Was so great to tick so many off, and great to just have a day of annual leave off motherhood too, while hubby looked after little miss 2, so I could head out & play!
Thanks to all the COs that we could have this day!
TFTC!!

Geocaching date with daughter for the whole day, yipee! The hardest part was to aim for those neither of us has found, so there was a slight overlap. Great fun and good chats along the way. TFTC!!
Took a while to find but was fairly obvious once I started looking in the right spot.
Interesting to have an entire Cemetery dedicated to Roman Catholics; in many other cemeteries that I have found while geocaching, the graves are divided according to religion eg Waimate, Duntroon.
Quick find, thanks for placing & maintaining this cache, Rustyman16.

A quick easy find, with good coordinates, as we finished the day at the local cemeteries. TFTC
found while out and about with CHIKO1 on a random mission to find a couple of caches on Xmas day no less tftc
I tried to get to this cache through the other Ellesmere cemetery - its so interesting how the different denominations were so segregated in the past. Very interesting signage here from 2012 - didn't see any further evidence of the threats being actioned in my short wander. TFTC # 11,598
Despite a van full of muggles working close I was able to take a quiet stroll to G Z
Thanks

Out putting some smilies north of the rakaia.
Thought I could get this without the phone but no joy so after grabbing it from the car it was an obvious hide (the next one along) didn't have my caching senses working properly. No tb in the cache . TFTC

#3526. I had a work trip to Canterbury on the Thursday and Friday but decided to stay over on the weekend to fit in a couple of big caching days. I am working on the DGSC challenge and need some 50+ days for the bulk find elective. So Saturday and Sunday were earmarked for getting some big totals. Fortunately the weather was fine and sunny on both days. I had allocated about 5 minutes per cache find, maximum of 10 minutes if it was quite a drive from other caches. Managed to locate about 130 caches over the weekend and about 150 over 4 days. This one did not take too long to locate. Was found in first place checked. Signed the log and replaced as found. The second of several cemeteries visited in the region today. Thanks for placing it here.
Got some cheap flights a few weeks ago so the plan was to come down for a big run in Ashburton to achieve the 120 in one day and get the gemstone. OMG! We started at the crack of dawn and finished in the dark. Foggy and cool but cleared by lunchtime. It should have been achieved much quicker. We had not really planned a route and detoured a bit. Some of this backfired as we ended up on some long gravel roads that had missing caches and was most disappointing. We got stuck for about an hour on a multi I specially wanted for qualifying for another cache which was frustrating. However, we made it - with a few to spare I believe - but are totally shattered. Too many to log individually so are doing the copy and paste. Many thanks to all who placed caches. What beautiful countryside and we love the fact we could pull over and park safely. Not keen on the many prickly pine trees so many were hidden under. The breeze only got up in the afternoon and it was a lovely warm breeze - not like Manawatu freezing winds even at this time of the year. More traffic on the roads than we expected and they fair motor along. Many thanks for the caches. It has made the whole trip worthwhile.
Took a long time this one,had to wait until we finally got a signal.once we did-a quick find in an easier spot than we were searching
