Decided to dust the bike off and complete some more of this series. It was a warm day with a nice breeze every now and then. Enjoyed my ride with only one DNF for the day. One more trip, and I should have then series knocked over. Spotted 2 snakes today, small brown at the start and a huge red belly on the way back there out and about with the change in temp. Back in the car now and collected this one TFTC!
After lunch at the pub, we continued on caching for the day, finding the last few drivebys in the area. Quick find here. TFTC
We are heading back to Chiltern after finding a few caches around Tarrawingee. This was a quick stop and the cache found without a problem. Thanks to BettyBoos3747 for the cache.
I was a little concerned about a mega search here but found it quickly,I took a nice pic from here looking across the paddocks

Hi BettyBoo3747, I found N G Sheppard Gate - Sheppard Road today.
Many thanks BettyBoo3747 for providing and maintaining this game piece for our enjoyment.
Today we found N G Sheppard Gate - Sheppard Road on our travels. We had to stop for an old, cool gate. Although the search seemed to be the blind leading the blind! Both looking at the correct spot but making the wrong assumption. A quick PAF and we had a d’oh as it should have bitten us!
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for being part of our geocaching fun.

Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.
Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way. Some finds were nice and quick and some took a little longer, but in the end, we found most.
Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away

Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.
Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.
Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.
All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.
Another one done while doing the trail nearby. Quick find here

Out with Wollaston and SeasonedBird today. This is one of the caches we targeted and found thankyou for giving us the opportunity to explore. New log placed to replace full one.
I loved the old gate. Imagine the stories it could tell, if only it could speak! A quick find, Budgie went left, I went right but there can only be one winner.
Thanks again BettyBoo3747
I had been set to attend another Victorian Mega but the damn pandemic began and for obvious reasons one was cancelled and one was postponed. I was pleased the postponed Wangaratta event went ahead but have to admit I was still apprehensive about the COVID situation. Although attending all events, (except 1 of the CITOs) keeping distance was still a priority. I had a great time touring with 1TOOLMAN and Budgietas although there was an empty void where SSR should have been.
As well as Wangaratta, we visited The Paps, Mt Buller, Benalla, Glenrowan, Winton and even popped in to Lex country, having dinner at Brady’s Railway Hotel. Our find numbers were low but our laugh count was high so I call that a win!

Found this cache as part of a run of 100 caches that included a few of the HSS caches, the gourment series and the Ned Kelly Helmet Series. We found this cache after the element series completing a loop back around towards beechworth

--------------------------------------------------------------
The Mega in Victoria I had always planned to attend, but due to covid changes I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to due to work commitments. As these commitments cleared up, I planned to go over and catch up with GoosenEgg, Stainless Steel Rat, and 1Toolman while in Wangaratta for a day caching to attempt to find 100 in one day. As things turned out Stainless Steel Rat was unable to go, so I was invited to join GoosenEgg and 1Toolman for the entire period. 1Toolman collected us from the airport and we immediately drove to Victoria’s 1st Geocache. From there during the 4 days, we visited Wangaratta, Mt Buller, Albury, Wodonga, Benella, Glenrowan, and Beechworth (although we didn’t make the bakery much to 1Toolmans disgust)
The trip was less about numbers and more about visiting places that I had only driven through before. We did manage to complete the Ned Kelly Helmet series and find a great Earthcache at Murmungee Lookout and another cache at “The Paps” which gave tremendous views of the area. The GPS maze, which I must say was one of the greatest attractions was also attended as with another cacher I was first through on the Saturday Morning at 8.15. It was great to get this icon on my profile.
Of the trip, it was certainly hot and humid, but we really didn’t get rained on in any serious way, with the major storm passing through at night time, otherwise it was just hot or very hot depending on the time of the day.

Day 2 of my Mega trip after camping out at Pioneer Creek last night I woke up early to go out and get as many caches before it starts to heat up. Caching from there moving towards beechworth then headed back toward Wangaratta where I will cache throughout the afternoon. Eitherways thanks for the cache and being a part of the day.

What incredible gates! Love the detail here. Neat piece of history! Many thanks.
Found this a couple months ago but didnt have a pen. My grandfather made this gate and it remains my parents property, so it's nice to see ppl appreciating the gates.
I had to go into Wangaratta to pick up a purchase for my mum's van and afterwards I made my way over to the Event OCR - it's finally done in Eldorado. I was hoping to finally meet the CO BettyBoo3747 which I did. Afterwards as I made my slow drive back to Porepunkah, I stopped at a few of the CO's caches along the way.
This was not a road my Tarago liked at all but where there is a cache, my Tarago will go. A quick find was made at GZ.
The cache is in good condition. The logbook is almost full - it has 6 blank spaces left to sign however looking at the frequency of dates this one gets found, it should be ok for a while yet.
Thank you for the cache here BettyBoo3747

This gate was made by my Grandfather Norman George. This is 1 of 2 gates he made. Great to see ppl are getting enjoyment out of it and appreciate the skill to make it.
Impressive personalised gate. Not too long to find but with the grass almost as high as the gate it might have taken forever!
Thanks BettyBoo for enticing me out here.

After getting a few FTFs today we thought we’d pick up a couple of others on our way back home. Glad the weather held out (rain wise) even if it didn’t get above about 9 degrees all day! TFTC
Thanks bettyboo for the cache. Sad we lost our pen and couldn’t sign the log!
Found later in the day after Huffleclaws and co. It made sense that it should be there to us. Found on a detour from the rail trail. Thank you for the hide.
2:39pm
Made the quick stop on my way out of the bush to ride the rail trail into Beechworth.
Took a little bit longer to find as it wasn’t hanging the way I thought it would be.
Nice decorative gate you usually see to the entrance of the homestead on a property, looks a little out of place as an entrance to a hay shed.
TFTC , cheers.

Off the mountain and out of the valley for a change. On the way to Melbs with yet another detour but what’s new! Time to collect this little pocket of caches before the next rain event makes it too soggy an outing. TFTC
Headed out for a caching trip with husband and no kids!! Today's mission was to recover the stolen jewels in the latest challenge. After initially looking at the wrong end, I soon had cache found.
Found while out on a caching trip up through Benalla and Wangaratta and the Winton Wetlands.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
While the initial plans were for a long weekend south-east on Mount Howitt the latest forecasts of harsh weather had us detouring north to Mt Buffalo instead. It was a good alternative - the weather was kinder, and a few days later we managed to get to Mt Howitt after all.
After meeting up at the Winton Wetlands earlier today and a hearty dinner at the Eldorado pub it was off to strike more caching gold along these trails at night.
Even in the dark we could clearly see this very distinctive Sheppard gate.
Thanks BettyBoo3747.

With a big day of hiking behind us it was time to enjoy a few drive-bys as we made our way to our overnight campground in a round about way With torches being our best friend we managed to grab 20 or so on the trail including a DNF .
Thanks very much BettyBoo3747 for the great effort you always put into your caches.

After spending the day driving up from Geelong and hiking it was time for some drive bys on the way to the camp ground. Smashed out a bunch of these on the way to our glorious little camp site at whourley. Tftc!
Cruising through here late at night with the cache crew and made a quick and easy find. Cheers Betty boo!
Driving home from WANGARATTA this evening, on a few roads we have not yet travelled. Unrealistic target on a hot afternoon, but we did manage to fit in 10 caches, with only one DNF over a combination of BettyBoo, Harrowang, Bingley and RobMC caches.
Quick find in obvious spot for us today. Watched by cow guardian, thanks BettyBoo

First day of my leave and after doing family things in the morning (and braving the last of the Christmas shopping) I had an afternoon to do some caching (and listen to a few a CDs without complaints from the back). I am hoping to crack 1000 for the year (suspect I will just be short) and so thought I would try a few more of the HSS series and then get a few more down in that part of the world. Left the geohound at home as it would be mainly a park and grab day - and some of the roads I planned were likely busy.
The damage from the recent storms in the Everton/Tarwingee area was quite surprising - there were a lot of fences missing (but hopefully in s few weeks it will have greened up, and lots of full dams). In the end it was a Jamin Appleford, BettyBoo3747 and Harrowang day with a couple of others thrown. Ended up with 25 for the day (including 13 from 13 from the free throw line which must be up there with the best days in this series - starting to really take shape now) and 3DNFs - I suspect 2 are missing, the other might have needed a harder look.
Thanks to all the COs - all were in good working order unless specified. Off to Orange for Christmas - might get a few more but might need to see if I can sneak back this way on the 31st to achieve the target.
The cache was very obvious here so had signed quickly. Put it it "back in its hole" so hopefully is a bit more challenging for the next searcher.

This was another amazing gate, this time making part of the surrounding of a neat hay shed in it’s own paddock. The paddock is well mown and one of the tidiest hayshed paddocks I’ve ever seen. The cache was quickly found in its hiding place, then we got onto photographing the gate.
As we drove past yesterday I noticed something amiss here. Back today and yep the cache was in full view for the world to see. Now back in its hiding place.
After visiting the Seven Oaks Rd. gate we ventured up to see this one at Sheppard Rd.
Unlike the previous finders there was no-one about here, not even a car passed the whole time we were there. Looks like a prime spot to raise livestock.
That was great, as we could take in the amazing panorama here, as the weather had broken and the sun was shining now, as well as the serenity. Looking towards Wangaratta and beyond, you could sit here for ages and appreciate this spot.
Once we dragged ourselves from the view, we pottered around a bit looking for the hide, before coming across it in the end.
SL at 2.30pm. All safe and sound.
One more before the trek back. TFTC BettyBoo3747.

A good variety of containers & hide. Some easy & others a little challenging.

After about 25 minutes of searching and checking previous logs we were not successful. We noticed thst all along the fence line has been whipper-snipped recently. Thanks anyway BettyBoo for the cache. Hope it is still there and just cache blindness on our part.
The rain's stopped for a while, so we thought we would take the opportunity to grab a few caches on our way to visit El Dorado.

TFTC. When we were out finding some caches on Friday we noticed a small triangle of caches that we fad not previously found. We had better put that to rights, so this morning we went out in the Geof-vehicle specifically to complete finds. Love the gates.

Hot conditions meant it was hard work going around but the caching was great fun.

Suscoe was enjoying a day caching with Phetlern to the east of Wangaratta today.
A delightful area, such long grass everywhere we went.
We had lots of fun caching together along these roads and trails.
The paddocks seemed in great condition and the cattle all looked happy.

With our base camp set up in Wangaratta, we set out up the valley in the very good company of Suscoe. The weather was ideal, there were very few muggles about and we thoroughly enjoyed the mountain scenery, the views and of course the number and variety of geo-hides the GPS'r led us to.
The lovely old gate was completely hidden behind the grass.
