TwoEms wished we had brought our monocular to view the distant monocline, but we improvised and squinted, making our own little folds around the corners of our eyes. Thank you for the EarthCacheluckily the tide was low enough.
Thanks for bringing me here, I've now ridden, walked and even kayaked past here. Thanks to the kayak, I've manager to get up close and personal with these cliffs in a way that most people don't.I used to go to school nearby. One time our PE teacher brought us down for a bit of cross-country training (we were young) and we could see a shelter about 500m away and he said we could run to that one, or we could run to the one "just around the corner" which was out of sight. Just around the corner to us sounded much closer than 500m away - so we all took off around the corner...but the shelter in that direction was 1500m away.
Headed up here on a beautiful sunny winters morning. Main target was the multi along the shore, but this was a backup to fill a gap in my non-trad calendar. just in case. I hadn't checked ahead of time, but luckily it was pretty low tide (just starting to rise) so we were able to answer the main question. Answers sent to CO. TFTC!
A lovely day to be at or near the beach. A quick trip to Melb to catch up with Ronice88. Lovely to have ocean breeze whilst cach8ng on this rare warm day this Summer. Thanks for the geocaching geology education Pinkpiggy7Regardskbucky
TFTC! 14 December 2023 11:57:59am 6514Thanks for the earthcache. Really enjoyed our walk along the coast at Beaumaris. Thanks for teaching us something new.
A bit of a cooler morning today so out for a walk and stopped here. I remember running along this path when I was in school!Answers sent and I hope I was correct. TFTC!
It was International earth cache day and I had headed out in the lovely weather for a couple of earth caches. People were out in droves, but I had the lookout to myself. I did wonder if I was required to venture down to the water line, but obviously it was not a good idea to try to accomplish that from on top of the lookout. I had actually visited this site before heading over to the fossil beach earthcache where I got a closer view of the monocline.Answers have been sent to the CO. Many thanks to the CO for the cache page information and bringing me to this location.
Found this today on our Saturday Afternoon South West to the Bay Afternoon. After "HA" got dropped off at Southland, I scoured the coast for three earthcaches of which this was the first. Hopefully I managed to answer enough here to claim the find but I wasn't confident. Thanks from D B-A
Walked from one Earth Cache along here to the other.
For some reason I thought that this one would be down at sea level - not as such!
A lovely view though from the top of the cliffs. The information I required was easily visible with this low tide.
Thanks for this informative earth cache, often we notice natural features without knowing anything about them.

After my biggest month caching in April, I realised that the month of May was almost over and I had done much caching at all. As such, I thought I should go out and find a few more geocaches on the last day of May. I selected this Beaumaris area again for my dusk-ish adventure. Pleased to have no DNFs.
Lovely lookout here that I had to myself right on dusk. Would have been great views if the low cloud cover wasn't obstruction the views of the bay. Shame no way to get down to the water, as I do enjoy playing on the rocks and it would have been interesting seeing this Earthcache from close up. Maybe another time, I'll come back and stroll here from the beach.
Thanks for the cache Pink Piggy 7

A beautiful sunny day, perfect for caching in the Beaumaris area with pinnacle333.
A very imformative earthcache, that taught me about monoclines. I was very interested to see one. Thanks Pinkpiggy7.

A great eartch cache to inform us about the surrounding shoreline. We enjoyed the views with Echidna44 as we answered the questions. Thanks for this one PinkPiggy7
And now around Melbourn.
I really looked forward for those cliff back home, and they are amazing with the rocks and the view.

We had to look up what a monocline is on Google to be sure we were looking at the correct feature:)
Of course we came here when the tides were not quite right, but good enough to make out what was needed for the answers. I grew up in Black Rock and have walked theses beaches and tracks to Beaumaris many times, but this was my first time at this particular location.
Thank you Pinkpiggy7 for this EarthCache and for bringing us here today. Beautiful views.

I came across this EarthCache on one of my daily walks - it was good to stop here for a few moments before moving on. A guy was resting in the chair, so I didn't stick about too long. Instead, I took some photos and sent the answers along when I had the time; hopefully, they are all good

Earthcache Day 2022
I have been looking at this one over the years and it’s my closest unfound to home. I have avoided it because it seemed too hard for me. So today it was time to go down and have a look. After checking with hubby that it was low tide, I set off.
Very busy around here on a Sunday with all the cyclists on Beach Road. I had to play Crossy Road with the traffic .
Made it to the viewing platform and started to look at the monocline or at least what I thought was the monocline. I struggled a little so I reached out to a PAF who helped me a little to identify the monocline. Very interesting. I would not have taken interest had it not been for this Earthcache so I thank you for bringing me here.

Out and about today in-between a short shift at work and a big card tournament in Clayton today, deciding to go out and collect some caches before the rain sets in today. A very successful afternoon all in all with only one dnf. Thanks for the cache and the little suburb adventure.

Thanks Pinkpiggy for bringing me here. I enjoy reading the information for the earth caches. This really is a fascinating area!!
This was the first of two earthcache today .. there is something wonderful about being close to the sea and it is always good to learn something new .. thanks Pinkpiggy7 for creating this earthcache sharing information on the area ..
It was an unplanned visit to family in Beaumaris today and it potentially interfered with me finding a necessary cache today for the ** The Non-Traditional Calendar Challenge **... but by good fortune, this Earth cache was not too far away. So I set off for some "time out" from the family mid-afternoon for stroll to the Bay, timed to arrive at low tide. I collected the necessary answers, took the optional photo and then wandered back to the family... about half an hour all up and, more importantly, I remain on track to complete the challenge in 2022!
Thanks **Pinkpiggy7** for creating this Earth Cache.

Like the Description said I have always been abit intimidated by Earthcaches, but recently I have been trying to seek them out more. Well I was already in the area working on some multicaches for my multi month challenge. With it being so close I just had to stop. Luckily tide time was in my favor. Some beautiful views, and always great to learn a little bit about our game board. TFTC

An evening stroll to collect a few caches. I do find earth caches interesting... maybe don't recall all the facts but they do show interesting landmarks.
I did a little extra study on this during lunch and when I arrived at GZ a couple were occupying the seat and the tide was still going out. Made it back later and had the place to myself so did the necessary observations.
Fav given.

On a caching mission today to increase my leap day Project-GC add-on count (the little circle on the side of the badges for 29 Feb). And I'm chasing some of the Geocache of the Year Award Nominations as well.
Don't try this at home but I stood up on the hand rail to get a better view of the monocline

It’s so great to revisit these places from my childhood and see them in a new way. I knew this part of Melbourne was geologically significant but I didn’t know the details so thanks. There’s a lot of plant growth down there too.
Hey Pinkpiggy7. Met you last week now I’ve found some of your cache and solved one of your earth cache. Thanks for the efforts you go to make the game great.

The view from here is beautiful, it made me want to go for a swim, but sadly, no bathers or towel. Interesting geology.
Having driven past this spot for years (without knowing the viewing platform existed), I was thrilled to find myself looking out over Port Phillip Bay at GZ. Such a beautiful outlook on a gorgeous autumn evening, I thank Pinkpiggy7 for the opportunity to claim this Earth Cache! TFTC x
Nice spot with a great view around the bay. The tide was low enough to see what we needed. Thanks Pinkpiggy7

Found in the company of G of GJMMelb and quiet1_au. Answers have been sent already by G and Q. TFTC. Always great to come here!
Out for an afternoon of caching with lochb and G of GJMMelb, we headed to the bay hoping to get some sea breeze relief from the heat. We were lucky that our visit was perfectly timed with low tide (unlike a previous visit I made here) but the water was a little stirred up so we're not sure we saw all the ridges or not - the other question posed no problems. "International Earthcache Day" - a check for our closest unfound earthcache. Great, just 36kms away! Ahoy me hearties - way across the bay!
Having been given some sage advice at the Mordialloc Event this morning, we found this one fitted neatly into our day by the bay.

Getting this cache was a comedy of errors, but I wasn't laughing. It appears that I told my TomTom to direct me to the EC in St. Kilda and so traveled quite some distance out of my way. The traffic was horrendous but I eventually found a park in a sidestreet near GZ. As I approached GZ, I noticed a TB attached to a mountain bike. I was busy discovering that when OzHockeyChick, whose bike it was, appeared to see who was loitering near her bike. Atsmug soon joined us and then a group of cachers whose names I neglected to obtain also turned up. We had our own impromptu 'cacher party'.
The tide was still sufficiently low for me to see the features I needed and I hope I have the correct answers. I know I'll get the first question right, so that's something.

I wasn’t planning a beach trip today as I though the hot weather would bring too many muggles to the area but I needed an earth cache so gave it a shot anyway. The many muggles didn’t affect what turned into a great walk with a few more smiley faces to log. Thanks for bringing me out to this spot today.
After attending the Come Visit Parkville event we made a plan with micaparamedic and Alansee to visit this site. We hung around talking until it was low tide and then headed off to GZ.
here we could see what the cache page has described and having micaparamedic with us he was able to explain so more about the Monocline.
We collected our answers and sent them to the CO and received a very prompt reply.
Many thanks Pinkpiggy7 for the cache and very informative cache page which did teach us a lot about an area we would have otherwise thought just looked great.
A favorite point from us.

Well LouJean70, GeoUncle & GeoDaughter has been to the Event belt by Earthbound Chief this morning and decided to grab an Earth Cache to get the Souvenir too.
We approached GZ only to find a few other teams getting their info too.
I’ve got some names I need to remember.
Once answers where grabbed we sat down and enjoyed the view before moving on.

I headed out today with just 2 caches I HAD to find. An Earthcache and the Parkville Event Leadup event. It was again a beautiful sunny day, I grabbed some breakfast and off I went.
This was the closest EC to the event, so I found a car park over the road, dodged a thousand cyclists riding by and took the short walk along the Bay Trail to GZ. A beautiful spot here, not sure I have ever stopped at this lookout before. An interesting Earth science lesson. Answers submitted to the CO and approved

Sent our answers off to the CO and got the go ahead to log.
We came here very quickly after attending a nearby event, but not with the group that came later at low tide.
Unfortunately this is a public place and we accidentally disturbed a man meditating at GZ. He wasn't too happy about the interruption and left in a hurry.
We then encountered a VERY paranoid man who told us that "there were some people inspecting aliens down the path, and we should hurry to see."
Yeah. We just nodded and smiled and he moved on.
Just added a little colour to our day.
This cache gives us a Souvenir. Yay!
Thank you Pinkpiggy7!

After attending a nearby Come to Parkville event and waiting for low tide to expose the layers that needed to be viewed, Team Crackers, Alansee, Biggles1024 and I headed off. Seems as though Biggles managed to get waylaid and ended up at the wrong earthcache. Admiring the expensive motor yachts anchored in the bay, we made our determinations to the logging task questions and then proceeded to wait for Biggles to turn up. An incoming text message indicated that he was still some time off so we decided to clear the area ourselves and continue our cache locating journey today. Answers have been sent off and a quick reply was given.

I thought I'd stop by this EarthCache on our way home. Read the description when at GZ - arrived at the wrong time of day to log find. Alas, it'll be worth our return. Thanks for bringing to an amazingly picturesque spot and for the history lesson. BRB.
As a result of winning a double pass in a competition yesterday Rex and I had driven to Melbourne and arrived just in time to meet a former work colleague at the Regent Theatre in order to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert
When the fantastic show had finished, I dropped Amy off at her car and then decided it was time to get tea (after midnight, mind you ) and also my first cache find of the trip! [^]
While I found zero, nada, zilch caches on the trip down on the 4th May (obviously the force was NOT with me ) I did find 18 caches today though and only had 1 DNF with 1 I'm not doing that on my own look at a cache! [xx(]
Rex enjoyed his first ever visit to a beach at the off lead beach at Mentone and while he didn't get deep enough to swim he did have a blast running into and out of the water and fetching the ball [^]
Very interesting lesson here on folds and monoclines [^]
Rex enjoyed the wander in and I enjoyed the view and we even managed to get a pic including the GPSr and both of us: I don't do selfies as a rule so I had to learn
It was strange seeing the beach Rex had just been playing on from a very different perspective

After a day stuck inside for no particular reason we decided to head out this morning on a good walking circuit with a series of caches en route.
We headed down to Beach Road where a beautiful vista greeted us. The sun was out and the bay mirror flat. There were some boats out fishing on the reef that must be under the area, but we did not see anyone catch anything.
Plenty of cyclist on Beach Road, but all in all a great day for a walk.
This was our first cache for the day. Lovely to sit on the seat at the lookout and take it all in as we worked out the answers to the questions.

Today I was out to gain some points for the Planetary Pursuit series of souvenirs, so I was targetting highly favourited caches, multis, and solved puzzles. Unfortunately, I loaded my GPS before adding the puzzles, so they will need to wait for another day. During my last two years at secondary school, we used to run past here at least once a week for training. The path was more of a goat trail that twisted and turned, and was not wide enough for overtaking. Much nicer now.
At the appropriate spot, I admired the views, then formulated my answers, which have now been sent to the CO. Hopefully they will pass the test.
My thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for the cache.

It’s taken two visits to this site to get all the answers required. I still couldn’t reach the monocline from beach level, but I did managed to get reasonable photo of it with all ridges showing. Perfect weather for a beach Earthcache..

Despite having cached for nearly 8 years, until yesterday I've never found a cache on the published anniversary. Today I decided to continue to change that and searched my GSAK database for caches published on 11/2 and there were two close(ish) that were unfound. This was not one of them, but it was on the way. Before I left home, I checked the tides and realised that it would be the perfect time to spy the bits that needed to be spied. It must be meant to be.
I'd read the questions before I left home, so I knew what I had to do and look for. I did that, and tooks some pictures just in case I needed to refer back to them later. As asked by question 4, I also took a selfie excluding all the geologocal detail.
Took pictures, left nothing, signed nothing and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the earthcache Pinkpiggy7

I'd read the questions before I left home, so I knew what I had to do and look for. I did that, and tooks some pictures just in case I needed to refer back to them later. As asked by question 4, I also took a selfie excluding all the geologocal detail.
Took pictures, left nothing, signed nothing and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the earthcache Pinkpiggy7
Looked right. Looked left. Looked middle. Middle has some nice eye candy that attracted my attention. Interesting location.
Heading south so just picking out a few cache here and there, and an EC lesson cannot be passed up...
Thanks for the stop and great views too.

Well being earth cache day I had to head out and get an earth cache and since I hadn't been down this area for a while I went looking for the other new ones in the area at the same time. Very pleased to say I found all of them that I looked for.
A bit windy today but still a lovely spot to take in the view. A little confused by one of the questions but I did my best.
Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Beautiful weather today escaped from home to do the caching day with crank1. Got permitted from CO. Nice scene of Mentone/Beaumaris and lovely calm sea.

This is our (the Dragon and I) third day of our mini break to Melbourne and a chance to head down the coast and see some of the countryside that the Dragon has never viewed before (I used to live over here).
So as we worked our way down the coast through the early morning traffic we enjoyed numerous stops for both the views and coffee (not necessarily in that order) while limiting myself to Earthcaches due to both the ground we needed to cover and you never want to be stuck in the car with an angry Dragon.
THis being the second stop along the way and as teh wind was up and the tempretures were down (I don't think the locals were used to this) I had the place pretty much to myself.
Lovely walk along the track to the viewing platform and an interesting peice of geo;ogical history. If it was warmer it would be great to go out snorkling around some of these reefs
A big thank you to all the CO's for placing these Earthcaches as they are a great distraction while travelling the area.
Thanks for the placement

I was out and about with the kids and decided as we passed this area we would take a peek. Thanks to pinkpiggy7 we can now log the cache since the answers were correct. Cheers.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there!
Parked the car across the street and took the opportunity, and lovely weather, to walk the track a little here. I found 2 caches and this earthcache in my walk. Heaps of runners, walkers and doggos on the track today. The look-outs were great and from this one, I could spy almost all of what I needed to answer the questions for the earthcache. I learnt lots, reading the cache page as I leant on the handrail, enjoying the sunshine. Logging with permission. Thanks for the earthcache Pinkpiggy7.

Staying in Melbourne for about a week for some sport and of course some geocaching.
I found lots of different types of caches in both urban and rural areas, in natural and city environments, traditionals, virtuals etc. All of these took me to many places in and around Melbourne. TFTH

I've been to this site a few times now. This is no big deal--it's by far the closest earthcache to home. I remember the tide was very high the first time, but I took a punt anyway while passing. On the most recent occasion I was walking up the coastal path from home so it represented a detour of maybe 15 metres. The features in question were more readily discernible this time around. I'm not sure I'd even heard of a monocline before this, let alone been aware that I lived within walking distance of evidence of one, so I definitely learned something. Attached is perhaps the closest thing to a selfie I've ever appended to a log [non-GCA log anyway]. Thanks once more Pinkpiggy7!

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches. I have got a nice streak going and hoping to let it run for as long as possible. This may or may not become easier now that I have found a job but I’m still currently staying with my brother (stinky tom) and his family which includes my nephew (stinky bob).

Working towards the Lara earthcache challenge caches had me take advantage of being in the area for shopping purposes by attempting this cache.
I say attempting because I (somewhat stupidly) didn't read the cache description before arriving and didn't time my arrival to coincide with low tide. Fortunately a forgiving CO gave me the green light anyway and I was most of the way there
Thanks for bringing me to this beautiful spot and making me notice that which I would never have done so but for geocaching. I probably would never have spotted the path to the lookout either if I wasn't searching for it!

On our way down to the beach, and there's a couple of really great lookout spaces which the dog led us to - she must love a view!
Conveniently for me, it gave me the necessary time to have a peek and grab a few photos for later analysis. At home later I did what I could and provided some rough answers for Pinkpiggy7. Not entirely correct as it turns out, but Pinkpiggy7 was merciful and generous and let me know where we'd gone wrong and allowed the log.
TFTC Pinkpiggy7. And great to see a reference to Eric Bird in there! For my sins I studied under him many years ago, and remember taking a big group road trip down the coast to look at beaches and talk about all the ways that we as humans had stuffed them up!

Needing a cache for Earthcache day and with this one so close to home it seemed the logical choose. Now I wasn't the only one with that same idea. mazza-g, mark9375, annoyingtarbit,The-M-Fam had all turned up. We chatted for a bit and when we we were certain that the tide was at its lowest we gathered the required information. Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for a great geology lesson and for an even greater Earthcache.

Today was the windiest day since 2008. I started my day riding 36km into it in the Round the bay in a day cycling event. (Glad I wasn't going all the way round). Afterwards I had to meet my family in Beaumaris for my mothers 80th birthday celebrations. It was also Earthcache day and I needed a cache today to fill my calendar. I thought this cache on Earthcache day would be fitting for my 900th find.
I snuck out of the restaurant and ran the 800 odd metres to meet Jascat, Mark Dawson & the Marshalls to get the required information in order to log this cache. The meeting time was 2.30pm and Jascat informs me low tide isn't until closer to 3. I was strapped for time, had to get back to the birthday celebrations.
I took some pics,
I scratched my milestone into the dirt, said my good byes and ran back to the restaurant to catch the cutting of the cake. No realised I was missing!
TFTC and the memories of this eventful day.

##Log with full security clearance from CO##
I had woken up earlier in the day to get out on my pushie to grab some caches before meeting some people for this little gathering that I'll rant on about below, a nice day for all
A small planned gathering of a few geocachers to get this earthcache for international earthcache, the squad included mazza-g, The-M-Fam (aka marshmallow family) and n0w0rries who was unfortunately held up with some things, more people turned up and almost became a giga event, these people included were FavTanFam5, Jascat and Annoying Tarbit (nice to meet and see y'all) although I know some people already... All very nice people,
Anyhow low tide came sooner or later and we collected what requested for and of course talked our heads off for some lengthy time, a very nice view with a bonus geocache (not forgetting that good looking souviner)
A very nice area to be in, I always like beaurmaris area,
**Thanks PinkPiggy7 for this nicely thought out earthcache**
**Another souviner ticked off the list**
-Now off with jascat to collect some nearby geocaches-
--Geo bike visited as I had rode down--
**And favourite point added for location!!!!**
Log was a bit wet and windy, Hehe

Find # 522
I'd seen this cache when it was first published and was tempted to go for the FTF with it being only a 5 minute drive from home, but it was nearly the middle of the night and I didn't think I'd be able to see the necessary features. I'd not gotten around to finding it since then and fortunately so based on wanting a find to get the souvenir on EarthCache day.
Today we met up with a few others at around the right time of the day to be able to observe the phenomena found there. This cache has taught me about these formations which we'd never realised were so nearby.
Thanks for the geological lesson and for the nearby cache PinkPiggy7.
Thanks also for confirming that my answers were acceptable.

I had been waiting for this day so that I could find this cache as it as been the closest to home unfound cache for a while now.
So today I went for a look ( well it may have been yesterday ) I arrived at the platform right on low tide and had a good look around, I had been to the platform previously but didn't realise that there was a earth formation below to look at, now I do.
I gathered the info, took a few pics and back home on the push bike.
**Thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for highlighting this area with an Earthcache.**

Needing an Earthcache find today to claim the souvenir, what better excuses for a drive along the bay.
Geowife and I really enjoyed this one, our walk along the cliff top and eventually down to the beach. Thanks to pinkpiggy7 for bringing us here.

What a great spot for an earthcache. This is a spot I had been to before, but never noticed the natural features.
This is what I like about earth caches, they bring you to locations with a lovely view and you get to learn something along the way that you hadn't noticed before. With my answers sent, I was pleased to receive quick confirmation to be able to log.
Thanks Pinkpiggy7.

Headed out on Sunday arvo along Beach Road with the family to check out this one for International Earthcache Day. Given that the advice was to head there at low tide I wasn't surprised to see a few other cachers there (though we probably arrived 30 minutes after low tide). Great to meet jascat, Mark9375 and The-M-Fam and we chatted for a bit. As usual our youngest cacher was very observant and helpful in answering the questions. Answers sent off and (regardless of a power failure) I quickly received the approval to log. Many thanks for the earth cache Pinkpiggy7.

The sun had finally turned up so it was time to do some caching, I teamed up with OzHockeyChick for a days caching around the Bayside area, It was good to pick up a few puzzles that had been sitting in the solved pile for some time. there sure is plenty of activity in this area with walkers and bike riders. We had a great day of caching with twenty six finds for the day. Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for the cache.
Firstly, an apology for my extremely slow logging time (logging this find on 2/7/17).
Today was another P366 day, so I came down to Beaui to investigate this new earthcache. I was unsure if I was looking at the water at low tide or high tide so I was slightly skeptical of my answers, but I persisted nonetheless. A great lookout from here.

When this was published, it was late, it was cold and I did not have nearly enough get up and go as our beachside caching neighbour who scored the FTF.
A lovely blue sky on a winters day, led us along the path and to this serene view. We quickly gathered the answers and walked EB Nano through his geology lesson (in preparation of school starting Monday). Thankyou for bringing us here and for teaching us something else about the locale we live in.
We continued on our walk for a bit of cache maintenance observing all the changes to fencing and seating made by the council since we were last here.

It wasn't going to be low tide for another 90 minutes or so, but I couldn't stay up that long, so I thought I'd try my luck here before I went to bed.
As luck would have it, the water was as calm as glass and quite clear, and with a powerful torch my view was probably just about as good as it would have been at low tide.
I could see all the features fairly well and sent my answers off to the CO. A positive response afterwards means that I was the FTF so an extra zing on top of any already rewarding experience.
It was very peaceful being here by myself, although I did startle a fox on the road nearby.
This is a very interesting feature and I'm glad that it has now been highlighted by an earthcache.
I'll attach a couple of not very good photos.
**Thanks for placing this cache Pinkpiggy7**
PS Added a fav point too.
