WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 158 - Logan Day 11. Wow, the Logan event is over. I have one more day in the area before I start heading home. I had one last county to visit, so it was off to the edge of the Gold Coast to get a few caches. It was not as far as I expected and not far past Beenleigh. Once I had the county dealt with I decided to have a go at few more of the LACH Wigs. I had managed to send my pole home early, so had to skip a few fishing caches I passed today. I spent the afternoon preparing the van for leaving tomorrow and cooked dinner at the van. It has been a great visit to Logan, and there is so much more to see and do here, alongside some future caching trip.I decided to have a look, there was only one DNF on this one. I went around and around and had almost convinced myself that some broken rubbish was an ex cache, when I found a place I could go deeper still, and there was the nice and safe cache. Log signed. Thanks for the cache RoddyC49554.3 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Landsharkz Mediterranean Cruise 2023 A#530**Albida**
Heading north we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them while staying in the Logan.area.
We did spot a snake skin, so we were very careful looking for this one!!! Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

New cache, but we did not have anything really large, so consider this as a temporary measure.
Nothing to be found here. Supposed to be a large cache which means it would be all the more difficult to miss, so I'm going to assume it is missing. Did find small remains of a large white bucket type container. Was that it?
A quick park and grab on the side of a nice road.
Saw the tree and made a U-turn because I was confident it was GZ. The GPS confirmed this and the large container was easily reached.

Today, my plan was to attend the CITO Event [Hardcore Clean-Up: Attacking the Aquaculture](https://coord.info/GC9YVBX) in Alberton, so I took the occasion of making a drive around the vicinity, as I hadn't really checked out this side of the M1 Highway and Logan River.
I set off a little earlier to find a few geocaches in Stapylton, and then arrived at the CITO to quickly understand how much work was required in assisting the clean-up. Following the CITO, there appeared to be a natural loop of geocaches (including the CDPT - Couchmen & D&Mocha Power Trail) that took me through Woongoolba and Cabbage Tree Point, and then circled around through Steiglitz, Norwell, and finally back to Yatala, where I had a late lunch at the famous pie shop. My drive did allow me to partially complete the *Our Early Settlers* Adventure Lab.
I made a stop here as I made my way north to the boat ramp (with corresponding geocache there). No issues with this cache and it was a quick find; The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Sewrainbow for the cache placement, and RoddyC for its ongoing maintenance.

After spending our time attending the excellent CITO this morning we were leaving when we remembered this cache. With our name added to the logbook all was replaced as found and we were on our way.
Thanks for placing it for us and others to find.

Today I am heading down the coast for another CITO and grab some caches with TOTT attribute for a challenge cache.
At this Cito we found lots of rubbish.
After the Cito I grab one tree climb and 9 tree fishing caches.
Today haul was 17 finds the breakdown was 10 traditional, multi m, Cito and adventure lab with 5 waypoints.
I had lots of fun today.

A couple of quick caches with my good geo friends, team Aussie Liahona before and after the nearby CITO activity.
This was our second visit here today after hearing the missing cache was replaced so a quick park and grab on the way out did the trick, loved the nice big container too.
Thanks RoddyC for maintaining this hide.

On my way to a CITO event in the area, today I took Maddie with me for a quick days outing. Having set myself a little personal challenge I still needed a few more caches for the day to complete. I saw this one on the map and we headed over to collect.
We parked right beside the cache and stepped out to get, Maddie did a swap for the green spider and I grabbed the log. A nice new fresh log and just one other name in the log. We signed the log and replaced all as found. Thanks for the hide, all good with this cache.

My kids love finding large size caches and this was no exception. I just sat back and watched them explore until they found it, which happened pretty quickly.

Caching has never really been about the numbers. I drive generally over a thousand km's a week (some for work, some to explore, some for the kids, and some just because I have to) so there's always a cache or two to break up the drive. Having said that, I also enjoy numbers, fulfilling challenges, and quirky statistics. It's for this reason, I'm going to aim to fill my dates found and dates hidden this year, and a few other challenges in the local area.
Already had two for todays date over the previous eight years, so needed three tonight. After watching Space Jam 2 at the drive-ins, it wasn't long before the kids were asleep and I was caching. Haven't done much in this area so we had a plethora to choose from, and this was number two.
This was a cool tree!! was amazed to walk up and see how it was still going, with the majority of it's trunk missing. Wasn;t long before the cache was in the hand. Unfortunately it's very wet. The log book was quite damp. Did our best to dry it as much as we could, and ensure the lid was fully sealed before replacing it and placing some extra camo on it to prolong it's longeveity.
Thanks for the cache **RoddyC**

A huge grasshopper was standing guard by this one. Once disturbed, he jumped over to my car and hitched a ride! TFTC.
Another lovely part of the river. Very quiet here today with the weather being perfect. Found quickly. TFTC
I was out and about with Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity when we decided to grab some caches after a CITO event. This was one of those caches.

Down this way for the RoddyC CITO event so picked up this cache while here. Easy find. Log in good order. Thanks RoddyC and Sewrainbow for the cache.
After attending the CITO event at Eagleby, I followed a group to this area to climb a tree.
Now I am finding caches back to the highway.
Another quick find, no rabbits were spotted but added a new logbook as this one only had one space left.

Found with Peppa and 2manytrailers. 2manytrailers and I didn’t even get out of the car - how slack . Nice easy find. Grabbed Kymmy’s rock.
We stopped down the road, but decided I would fall out of the tree... stopped here, while the rest of my crew stayed in the car... replaced the snap lock bag and returned the cache with a little more camo... tftc...
Don't understand why people leave garbage in caches ️ cleaned it out and left some goodies. Thank you for a good sized quick one
This cache was full of filthy water, hopefully I got the lid on the right way to stop that from happening again.
The landscape here reminded us quite a lot of North Queensland, flat, sugarcane and utes towing boats.
Thank you for this cache RoddyC

Checked out our Eagleby caches today. Happy to say we found this one in good order.
It's my last week in Australia for a while, unless I'm stranded here, so what better way to cram in the caches than to join RoddyC for another maintenance run. Today we went round lots of hides in the Eagleby area, not just Rod's and got quite a haul.
The description would have you fearing the worse going to this one but the good news is that it's not a nasty one at all. Tftc and UTV

Oh? The old container is destroyed. And is that a bucket filled with... err??? Found new container and log book. Lonely out here. X
Arrived at GZ and quickly realised the cache here had been destroyed, broken plastic, the lid and a few broken bits of swag strewn across the ground. Was about to post a needs maintenance log when I spied a zip lock and geocache page hiding in the sugarcane nearby.
I've replaced the container with one I had in the car and put what I could save into the cache, and tidied up the area. CO has been notified. Tftc

Out with joojoo57 for a day of caching, to get some numbers for the final Mystery at the Museum souvenir.
As I headed into GZ I heard something scrambling for cover and beat a hasty retreat myself! Then I realised it had scurrying feet, so not a snake then! I was cautious going in for the grab. TFTC, RoddyC and Sewrainbow.

WOW - what a huge paperbark tree! No rabbits here today but one very frightened goanna! Thanks.
Spotted the likely hide as I pulled up and could see the container before I got out of the car.
Thanks for the cache RoddyC. This was find #4295.

On the way to the Yatala Drive In to watch Pet Semetary ️ and Shazam ️, we left a little early to grab a few local caches . A very quick and easy find here. Signed the log and jumped back in the car before the mossies dragged me down the rabbit hole. Tftc and a large for my challenge Cache I’m working on.
Found this one, luckily the grass has been mowed fairly recently. Plunged in, signed log and returned. Quick find, Tftc RoddyC :^)
We had our fingers crossed that none of Alice’s friends were down the rabbit hole, and we were lucky -an easy cache on a sunday arvo
Was out and about today and thought a few caches today and saw this cache on the map and thought of finding it . The was a bit of muggle traffic by GZ driving past continually, so I had to time when I would start my search. Once their was break in the traffic, the search commenced. After 5 minutes the cache was soon found . Thanks for the cache RoddyC . TFTC!!!
As we drove along here we guesstimated where cache would be.. .we were right and found cache easily, which we were happy about as after several dnf's we needed to rise above our slump.
Decent sized cache and not at all hard to retrieve.
All is well with this cache.
Thanks RoddyC

Not keen on putting my hands down any holes but could see what I was after here. Hoping it didn't have company I hopped down the rabbit hole to come up with a clean dry cache. All good here.

The next stop this morning with Selva Girls. We pulled up opposite gz and the rabbit hole was obvious from there. A quick retrieve and sign for us here. Tftc RoddyC
Dropped of bear trackable. Will miss the bear... put in swaps as well. Tftc. Fave point for size.. so big...
We were having a picnic just down the road at the boat ramp, or if you went back in history about a century ago, one of the Logan river ferry crossings. Out of idle curiosity I wondered where the nearest cache was, an area such as this ought to have a cache. Ok the app reports this is the nearest cache only about 300 or so metres away. The logs had me intrigued suggesting that this was a little out of the ordinary.
We left the car in the boat ramp carpark and went walking, soon finding the rabbit hole. Wow what a rabbit hole it was. As we approached we realised we were being watched by some of the local wildlife but Mr Roo bounded off - maybe he was late for a very important date.
The cache is in reasonable condition, although the log book is very wet. We took the Travel Bug to move on.
Thanks for the cache.

Quickly found when I went for a drive down this road for the first time. I never seemed to ever have a reason to go there. Got the log out to sign it and it started to rain so had to be speedy. Replaced as found. TFTC
I was looking for a cache to welcome in the new year and these three up here were the closest to home. I figured it being late afternoon on new years day the place would be deserted but unfortunatly this was the only one I found.
After trying for the one down the road without luck I pulled up here and soon found what I was after. It's nice to see a big container for a change. They're few and far between really.
I signed in and headed for the next one then home.
Thanx agan Sewrainbow

Oh my that looks like it could house a BIG rabbit. [:o)]
Glad I am doing this one in winter. Another easy find thanks.

I have a bit of a special love for Large geocaches. They are truly a rare beast to find (especially those that are actually a Large, not just listed as such!) especially when they are just on the side of the road, rather than out in the bush. I want in!
Catscatscats22 and I had just finished a bit of a hike out in the western suburbs and I decided a drive out this way was the most logical next step. This general Alberton area is a bit forgotten I think, though I have memories of using the boat ramp at the end of Alberton Rd when I was a kid for Dad and son fishing trips.
A lovely drive ended in us parked by a tree on the side of the road. Cats was giving me grief about a certain numbers miscalculation, but without that, a find was made after some poking about. The logbook was signed, a few more laughs were had (largely due to a mirror that had been floating around in my car back seat now being whipped out and used to reflect the sun at each other's faces) and we were on our way. Thanks for this large geocache, Sewrainbow

A nice quick find on a morning out with Mrs. Thanks for placing these caches. Tftc
I had thought to stop at this one on the way in but in the end, I grabbed the one at the end first and then made the stop here on the way back out. I think I prefer the parking on this side anyway. I tried looking in one side first but nothing, so a quick grab from the other side worked out much better. Got the log signed and soon on my way.
