21-Aug-24
Reperio 09:02Today I had the day off, so decided to spend it along the TRLT series from Hazelgrove through Edith and Gingkin to Mount David. High winds throughout the day made things a bit tricky with signing logs and keeping zip lock bags from flying away, but almost all caches were found in good health, with only a few DNFs, and a few that need maintenance. As I was working from an offline list, I ended up revisiting a few caches I had previously logged due to the list not being updated. All in all it was a great day out.Gratias whitemushroomAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV

We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.

Today we will be continuing our travels on some more of "the roads less travelled" to collect some more of the TRLT cache series, and also any other caches we come across along the way. Yesterday we travelled roads to the East & North of Oberon, and today we will be travelling South towards Gingkin. This was our 2nd find of the day (day 6), and 103rd find of the holiday.

We were unable to stop at this one yesterday due to roadworks, but today there was no sign of any road workers and the temporary traffic lights had gone, so we stopped for a nice quick find at GZ. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. There's a cute cow letterbox across the road from GZ. TFTC whitemushroom.

Another one that we were unable to stop for due to the road works in operation. NO STOPPING ALLOWED due to the temporary traffic light operation on this section of road. We were actually escorted through by a works vehicle, so couldn't even do a sneaky stop-off.

Day 3
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.

Thanks for the hide whitemushroom and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

Apologies for the generic log, thank you to all the cache owners for their efforts.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.

Thanks for the hide whitemushroom Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others Big Grin

Greetings from DARKSIDEDAN.

This weekend I went on a caching trip and managed to get about 165 caches for the weekend. Your cache was one of the 165 caches that I signed CGG19 as part of our group signature for the five geocachers in our group. We saw loads of wildlife on our trip including 6 Wombats and loads of Roos. This was a fantastic series of caches. I cant wait to get back out and finish the rest of this series off. Thanks to the CO for the fun weekend.

Here is a little about me. At the time of this “Found It” log I have over 6750 finds and 350 Hides. I was the creator of the “Ducky Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Prize in the State Vs State Battle of the Labs during the OzGeoMuster – The Gong 2019. I am the owner of the largest GeoArt Series in the ACT and winner of countless Geocaching Prizes. I have got 200 plus caches in one day and I have also got 12 cache types in a day.

There is nothing that I love more than being out geocaching. I will geocache anytime, anywhere, with anyone.

I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

* * * * I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocachers to write logs with an average one hundred words or more in each log. As of the 20th of April 2019 my average is 110 words per log, which seems close to the 200 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 200 words for a long period of time to get my average up. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After more than 5500 aches (which includes all cache finds up and including today I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated. * * * * *

A plan was hatched, for a group of Canberra (and one Goulburn) Geocachers to stay overnight in Bathurst on a Saturday night and cache our way there and back - mainly doing some of The Road Less Travelled series, and anything else interesting that we were near. So, on Friday afternoon All7 and I met up with Cosmonaut97, who drove us out to Goulburn where we stayed the night with MinnieK (thanks for the hospitality), and then DarkSideDan arrived in the morning and we crammed all our gear into the back of the Cosmonaut Geomobile, all 5 of us climbed in, and we embarked upon our adventure - and what a fun weekend we had! Lots of laughs, some interesting terrain to drive through, and a whole lot of cache finds - so, sorry - most of these logs will be rather generic ... (and also rather late, because I am only just catching up with all the logging now - oops)
Logs were signed as CGG19 by at least a couple of people, or possibly CGC19 by me, because that is what I have written in my notebook (except for the first one I signed, which I think I signed GGC19) ... so I guess our group name was Canberra Goulburn Geocachers, or Canberra Goulburn Cachers, or whatever else anyone else signed - lol)
TFTC - I didn't write draft logs for any of these, because it was too difficult to keep up with that as we went ... and with all the caches we found this weekend - in most cases I don't remember which bit of fun was which particular cache. I did write a few words in my note book for some of them, so I will include those below if I did.
(Unfortunately, if I don't just copy and paste the same log for all these, and try to go through my photos or something, or read the listing and get creative, to figure out different things to write, I will never be able to catch up with my logging, and I don't like being behind).

Nice vantage point Smile

OCW frazeydaze. Today was all about the numbers. Having found the gems that were stolen from the Museum we now had to return the gems to the Museum by finding 35 caches to access the lock to the vault. Being at Blackheath for the weekend we thought that the easiest way to do that was to tackle a section of TRLT.

Starting at Duckmaloi at 10 and finishing at Jaunter at 5, with a slight detour to the Jenolan Caves to grab some lunch, we travelled many back roads through forests of pine and gum trees, saw spectacular sceenery and generally had a fun day.
Frazeydaze even saw a few wombats in the wild for the first time.

All caches were in good condition and a big thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches.

As we drove towards this cache, we thought that the cache name would led to a quick find. However when we got there, Stumpy was present along with all his cousins. The only problem was - which one was Stumpy? So it took a couple of minutes of searching before the cache was located. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks whitemushroom for the cache and the series.

This was our fourth day on this super long geocaching trail, and so first thing this morning we set off to where we had pulled out of the trail yesterday evening. The weather was perfect and once again we found ourselves travelling through some truly beautiful scenic countryside on interesting roads. This one was soon located once at Ground Zero. We were very glad to have found this one with it being placed over 1,100 meters of elevation and thus a qualifier for the NSW Altitude Sickness Challenge cache. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

Hi there whitemushroom.

We found your cache **"TRLT - Stumpy"** today. (This makes our find count 17744).

Today we headed out from Oberon so we could attempt some more of the "TRLT" series, plus any others we came across on our travels. We started at "Pine Cone Corner" & from there we proceeded to log caches up to "Stumpy" before heading back to camp. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but it is really difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]

We found 1 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** Most containers and log books were in good shape but some require a little "maintenance".
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny

Three geocachers (mizmaz, envirogirl86, and myself) embarked on a monumental long weekend to complete as much of TRLT series as we could.

Had to laugh. An old friend was nicknamed Stumpy and would have been proud of his height here. Awesome series!! TFTC!

Having completed the northern end of TRLT nearly two years ago with the Rats, was now time to tackle the southern end during a three day roadtrip with StumbleTrip and Envirogirl86. Smilies gained on 162/165 (with the other 3 either disabled or several dnf logs before us) plus a number of bonus trads/puzzle finds along the way. Though reported as the coldest weekend in 110 years, daylight hours were thankfully quite pleasant and made for a fun girl’s weekend. Apologies for generic logs but all were fairly easy finds with mostly good co-ords or obvious camo.

02-Jul-17
3 girls (Mizmaz, StumbleTrip and myself), a car, a gps and a sense of adventure resulted in 198 caches over 3 days. And, of course, we decided to go on our adventure on the coldest weekend in 110 years. Razz
Sorry for the generic log, however most of the caches we found (162/165 in total) were in good condition and were quick, easy finds. Thank you for placing these caches in such a beautiful and interesting area.

Taking advantage of the long weekend, Fitzy_1965 and I decided to head up to the Lithgow area caching along the way. Our main aim was the Jenolan Caves MPT with a few extras here and there. We appreciated the wide variety of caches found and thank the CO's for their caches.

Fitzy had already found TRLT series so just me for this search while he stayed in the car. We were driving up the wrong way so for most of these I had to dash across the road to make the find.

Apologies for the generic log-We found most of the TRLT series were good sized containers and easy finds with only a handful proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Another big day out with Caching Wench Number 1 starting with an early departure from Canberra, with perfect weather for our ramble along those country roads for many many finds. We found all the caches to be good sized containers and nice hides. Next find of the day. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Heading back out to Oberon to drop in with Mum. Living out there for ten + years and spending some time working in the mountains one got to know this road well. Road trip North to tackle The Road Less Travelled Series with JordsAU! I’ve wanted to try this trail for a while but hadn’t found anyone to try it with. I ran it by Jords a few weeks back & after checking the roster for the week, the stars aligned and we started organising it. He was aiming for “200 caches in a day”, so we planned the trail as best we could!

Monday – we drove up to Gulgong to start the trail. We worked our way down to Mudgee (~30 caches) before setting up camp for the night. We had an early night so we could smash out a big day.

Tuesday – packing up at sunrise and setting out, the big day begun! We reached the first 100 by 2:00pm (7 hours elapsed). We were worried that we weren’t going to reach the 200 milestone considered how far we had to go and how long we had been tracking! The stretch from the Great Western Highway to Oberon made great time and we were on 150 caches. Instead of heading into Oberon to set up camp in daylight, we decided the best use of the remaining daylight would be to push through into the night for the last 50. Eventually we were down to the last handful, when we hit an area of the forest that had been logged. To make up the last few, we assumed there would be caches in Oberon, so we drove 50km back to town. We made the 200 at the Oberon Memorial Site and called it a (long) day.

Wednesday – I was all ran down from the big day, so we made our way back home! I found a few in Sydney, and made the drive back down home. It was a good to unpack and have a nice hot shower. Now for the long laborious task of entering these logs!

Thank you to all the Cache Owners along this trail. It was a real joy to visit another part of this great country we call home. It’ll be easier for me to return to the trail via Goulburn/Crookwell to finish off the series (and hopefully visit any further extensions). TFTC’s!

2/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.

Left Greystanes this morning at 7, prepared for a full day of caching with morning tea and lunch water and a thermos of hot water for a few cuppas.
I have been planing this day for a few weeks and last Saturday I went and brought a tomtom to help with my caching. There the week I had help from team GoldJ in Tasmania to run a route pocket query and load it to my tomtom. With that part of my day a success I headed off. Easter Saturday it was prefect weather. This was my first cache for the day I don't know yet how many I get but from the one I tried I only missed 3 so I was really pleased with my effort.heading home I was the Jenolan cave rd it was a bit hairy scary in places, lots of places. The traffic coming home from Hartley where I turned back on the the Great Western Hwy was bumper to bump for a lot of the way so the return trip which should have taken 1:40 took about 2:10. I got home at 7:15. Big day. Great day and great caches.
I would like to thank all the cache owners for placing and maintaining all your caches. Just to let you all know, all caches I found today were in great condition and the logs were fine for sign. Thanks so much for the caches. I will be back to finish the route one day.
