We are heading up today and back tomorrow.A quick find heading back down to Geraldton for the night **Thanks for placing this cache Miss-Placed**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.

WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 84 - Geraldton to Euraday area via Northampton. Today was a steady drive north for half a day. I did a couple of caches as I left Geraldton and then managed to pick up a few more along the way. The best bit was a detour for the Ajana Binnu Trail Labs and caches. The old dam was very impressive and must have been quite impressive when the lid was intact. My roadside camp was a little noisy, but had some network coverage so I was able to keep a bit up to date. Hamelin pool for tomorrow, even less driving and only one cache to do.With the windmill nearby and a huge puddle across the track I stopped and poked around in the bush for quite awhile before I saw this. The water is almost up to the cache, but it is ok so far. Thanks for the cache Miss-Placed48607.4 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Oak Leaf A#118**Albida**
No worries about snakes in the long grass with the water that's laying around after last night's rain. Unless it was a water snake.. Fluked a lucky dry find between showers. TFTC Miss-Placed, all good with the cache.
Wells and windmills, all water. The rain falling this afternoon suits well. Luckily, the rain stopped just as we arrived. Yay for that! Nice quick, easy, dry find!
Hi there Miss-Placed. While out on the road today we found this cache at 1115am after a short search - and the container and log are in good condition. TN, LN, SL. Thanks to Miss-Placed for this cache - our find 10825 and the 1st of 8 finds for the day.FieldNotes: Slightly damp but otherwise ok
Sent Mr in after this one, too long grass snakey for me but given the good size worth it.TFTC

Brad and Janet are on another epic journey.
This time it involves many of Len Beadell’s 6500km of roads including the Anne Beadell, the Connie Sur, the Heather, the Neale, the Gun Barrel Highway, the Gary, the Talawana Track and more.
And of course a 2 day visit to Maralinga which Len also located, surveyed and largely built as he had with Woomera and Emu. An amazing man.
If you don’t know of him he wrote some wonderful books. Laconic with a dry sense of wit, they are an excellent read. They are also available as audiobooks as is a recording of his brilliant after dinner talk one evening in Shepparton. Worth a listen

Well thank goodness for the previous few cachers walking through and trampling some of the long grass. I was still very wary of snakes though, because it is more overgrown than I normally like to attempt but luckily it was an easy find once at GZ. All in good condition. Happy to get a smiley here. Quick find here in the boonies.

A quick road trip up from Perth to see the sights and grab some select caches along the way. This was so ear marked for an LGA as a quick park and grab. The recent rains meant it was wet under foot. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

My hitchhiking journey continues as I was picked up by a really lovely lady named Sarah, and, like myself, is camping in Kalbarri this evening. Like myself, she loves geocaching. My first find in the Shire of Chapman Valley. TFTC
First one for the day. Tftc. Long grass snakey, snakey. But fortunately we didn't spot one.
Enjoying a long, hot, weekend up in Geraldton Picking up a few caches while here, and even better converting a few previous DNFs into smileys This was the most northerly cache on my target list while here and allows me to tick off another LGA. A very convenient location for parking the car and although I could only see one windmill, the cache itself was a very easy find. Could be different at other times of year though when the grass has regrown! No problems here today - TFTC

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply cruising from Geraldton to Kalbarri.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'becknmonts' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Wells or Windmills' and the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest.

Hi there Miss-Placed.
We found your cache **"Wells or Windmills"** at 12:23:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 22633).
We are staying in Geraldton for a few days catching up with friends. When we had a free moment we started our caching run by nominating a cache some distance from our camp site and then took a route that was sometimes determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our interesting trek around the local area. Thanks also for not placing a mint tin or a 200ml Sistema here. It made us feel really good to find this "special" cache here..
We ended up finding a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route. (14 finds today & 1 DNF's). Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The cache lid was split and the contents were soaked, we made a repair and restored the cache.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge..
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

On the way from Geraldton to Kalbarri we searched and found one or the other geocache. Most could be found well. Thanks to the Owner for laying the geocach.
Travelling between Horrocks and Geraldton we stopped at this cache so the geo son could inspect the windmills. Cache is in poor condition very wet and mouldy- no longer water proof. Log well protected so we were able to log our find. Cache could do with some TLC. Tftc
Heading south, and the weather is getting colder and wetter Nice big windmills here. Cache was a quick find, but quite waterlogged inside. Thanks becknmonts for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
A nice sized container which unfortunately is wet inside and the swag is all damp.
In Geraldton for a couple of days of geocaching.

We are slowly working our way south on our way back to Victoria. Last night in Northampton and onto Geraldton for a few days. The incentive to continue south is not very high when we look at the weather forecast. Maybe we should turn around and head back to Brokme. Only problem with that up we have cleaned out all the caches up there. The further south we travel, the more caches there are for us to find!
The GPS led us on a merry dance, but once we gave it a chance to settle down we found ourselves signing the log pretty quickly. Another good sized container, which we do like to find.

Found this one laying in a puddle but was surprised to find that it was completely dry inside, other than a bit of condensation on the inside of the lid. Placed it nearby but out of the deep puddle it was in. Thanks.

Picking up some placed since I was last here. A nice easy find this morning at 11:00 on my way down to Geraldton. TNLNSL TFTC becknmonts
What a laugh this was. Four carloads of our family out to pick mushrooms when we decided on a nearby cache to keep the little ones occupied for a while. Only problem was that when we got there the son let his Jack Russel out of his car and it proceeded to roll in a carcass of a dead cow which you could smell a mile away. The dog was then relegated to the back of the ute until we reached the Chapman River where it was unceremoniously chucked in. Found the cache without a problem, signed the log and made a couple of exchanges for the kids. Thanks becknmonts, still laughing.
Found while enjoying an extended break in Geraldton from my travels. When I reached the GZ I was concerned to see a tree up rooted close by, but the cache was found safe and well. All OK. TFTC.
We were staying with muggle friends at Nanson and they wanted to know a bit more about Geocaching so we joined forces with ProspectorsWA and headed out for a days caching.
We stopped here and as we got out of the cars there was a recognizable odour and as we got nearer we spotted the dead cow. Fortunately it has been dead long enough that the worst of the smell has gone. It looks like even two windmills weren't enough for this animal.
The cache itself was found after a short search and we happily added our names to the log before leaving the beast to finish decomposing.
Thanks again beckmonts for the cache.

Day 2 of our mini road trip and still in town doing some more caching. Today's plan tackle Alexander series then head to Northampton, Nabawa, and Nanson then back to Gero.
Have a few caches on my list so fingers crossed we can manage as many as possible
Turns out another warm day in town and I didn't pack my shorts
Have to admit muggle is good at this
With dickie knees and I can trip over the smallest thing this one took longer than it should have to get to GZ but once I has some clearing cache in hand quickly

Pulled over to pickup this cache...two decomposing sheep stunk me out...heat flys and that stink ment move on to another...will have a search next time up this way

Headed out early this morning with iluvtrekking with Nanson and surrounds as our destination. Of course there were other various locations to explore along the way and some great caches. Thanks becknmonts
We had a wonderful day today exploring the countryside around Geraldton looking for history, flowers and caches.
Nice quick findhere, thanks becknmonts.
Nice quick findhere, thanks becknmonts.
Headed up to Geraldton for 4 days to try and find as many caches as we could. Its been 6 months since we were last there and there has been so many new caches come out that we will need another trip there to find them all. We ended up finding 215 and about a dozen DNFS. We picked a few up on the way and did a detour on the way home to Mullewa and i must say the wildflowers are beautiful at the moment. We found a great variety of caches including a couple of wherigo,s, lots of field puzzles, multi,s and the highlight for the hubby was doing the chirp cache. I would like to say all caches were found quickly but that definately wasnt the case lol.... There was some very tricky and sneaky hides that took quite a while to find with a few we went back a couple of times to till we found them. We managed to find a few that we previously had DNFS on and it was was great finding a lot of creative cache containers especially some of the field puzzle ones. Thanks to everyone for the caches and hope to find a lot more on our next trip to geraldton....

On a road trip to Gero for the IGD event with Kyzabra, jinta29 and SVKR_WA. Lots of good hearted banter was flung too and fro over the weekend while picking up several dozen caches about the place.
I needed a cache up Northampton way to fill a spot on a challenge I'm working towards ([GC3TR3M](https://coord.info/GC3TR3M)) and managed to convince the others that it would be good idea to take trip a little further north. On the way back we met up with Barnzy12 and cravo10 for a total of twelve eyes at several caches.
jinta29 found this in a spot I had already checked.
becknmonts I found your cache at 11:40am, this was the 14th of 40 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 3395. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Headed to Geraldton for the International Geocaching Day event on Saturday 20th August.
Barnzy12 and I packed the car at 6am and headed North. Despite making a critical error by choosing the freeway to start the journey we then made it to Geraldton and checked into the motel.
Today was day two and started with a little tree climbing caches with a group of others.
We then headed further north today prior to returning to gero for the event at 2pm.

TFTC! Today was day two of the "boys weekend" with me and Cravo heading up to Geraldton for IGD 2016, my third trip to this great part of our state and johns second. Think we will continue to do this every year? Especially with all of the new caches getting published around town!!
We picked up a number of new caches along the route and even some that we had missed on previous visits, being in a 4wd this year made it a lot easier to get to some of the hard to reach places that a 2wd would struggle to get to.
Started day two meeting up with Kyzabra, Jinta, Grannett, SVKR, M4YB, clan Wallace and others to grab some orange tree series caches. We grabbed two and missed two, with safety being a first
Priority, two of them were just simply too high up even with some pretty series ladders!!
We then headed out to Nanson, Nabawa and finally to Northampton to complete the Nabawa Bound caches and everything Inbetween whilst dodging cyclists on the "tour de Geraldton" as we dubbed it. Was some really nice country driving today, this is way I love about caching, getting out and seeing the state on remote country roads.
We headed into Northhampton and found our first cache at the window entrance to town, and were surprised not to see the motley crew of Kyzabra, Jinta, Grannett and SVKR as they were heading to Northampton from the orange tree series so I thought it only fitting to leave them a nice little note in the logbook. We grabbed a couple of other caches around town and were met up by the motley crew at one of them, before we basically joined forces to grab the caches between Northampton and Geraldton. With six sets of eyes the caches didn't really stand much of a chance, although we did have to PAF at one!!
We made our way back into town and grabbed a bunch of caches with the motley crew along the Alexander trail where we signed logs at team PGC, don't really know what it means but that's what we signed the first fifteen or so with until the motley crew decided they need lunch and went their own way and we continued to finish the series and met up with other cachers further down who were out enjoying the sunshine.
Grab a couple of other "must do" caches the chirp chirp cache (highly recommended), Roxy rotunda (previous multiple DNF), something fishy (think we've tried for about five times!!) which was great as we had no DNFs which is very good for Geraldton!!
After lunch we headed back to the room to get ready for the event, arriving slightly later than planned we were only there for a short time before caches were published!! Someone announced twenty four emails had come though and I loaded the map and started running north to the nearest cache, gaining some valuable meters on the competition
It was like a scene from the IKEA ad, with Cravo asking if he should get he car and me yelling back "GET THE CAR!!" So I legged it to the first cache and he got the car and picked me up, it was the first of about fifteen FTFs for the day, we
Completed all of the caches north of the event and then looped back around to grab the caches furthest north and then back toward the event. We had a couple of DNFS Which was disappointing.
We headed back to the event and had the pleasure of completing some of geraldtons finest caches, the shake rattle roll, emergency were awesome. We were one of the few teams that actually didn't need the CO to assist by bringing the key!! Definitely a favourite and probably easier doing it with a beer in hand by the foreshore!!
After finishing the event we had a quick drive out to grab the new plane caches, got 3/4 there and then headed down to the water to complete he whereigo cache (highly recommended) and the two traditionals on the walk. Can't wait for tomorrow's adventure.
Thanks to the local COs for their caches

The IGD Geraldton trip is fast becoming a MUST ATTEND weekend and this was my second trip up. Joining forces with Jinta29, Granett and SVKR_WA, we bundled into the SanteFe and headed up.
After a big day yesterday, we hit the ground running with an early start again today.
A couple of early first to finds, followed by some tree climbing, then a trip up to Northhampton.
A proper by jinta revealed the prize.

A proper by jinta revealed the prize.

This one was a nice quick find
The second day of our Geraldton IGD trip and we had a plan to grab a few oddball D/T rated caches around town and also a few caches north of Geraldton . Kyzabra, Granett, SVKR_WA and I had an early start today as we had a fair distance to cover. This one was on the list, thanks for the cache

This took a bit of hunting .... but I even managed to beat the geokids to this one! TFTC beckNmonts

As we headed back down the highway from our Pilbara maintenance run I asked my geobucket app if there were any geocaches on the road ahead that we hadn't previously found. This one showed up so I quickly placed the coordinates into my GPS. We had the caravan trailing along so was initially worried we might not be able to find a safe place to pull over, that turned out not to be a problem as the small road had an area we was able to turn around in.
Leaving Ian to do the turn I headed off in search of the cache - as I approached I was concerned that the area may well be hiding some boggy soggy ground so treading very carefully I continued on over some fallen timber. Soon I was on solid ground and at GZ according to the GPS, silly me decided to look elsewhere. Back to GZ and a little more hunting and the cache was in hand, as I opened the log I noticed it hadn't been used! Yippeeeee..... A first to find for us.
Thanks Becknmonts
