Our last day of caching in Kilkivan. Today we headed out to Widgee and Glastonbury. Another great day, we found all the caches that we looked for. They were all good sized containers which made finding them easy.

27-Jul-19
Found while staying in the kilkivan area for about a week before heading for the big smoke down south. Having noticed that there was a lot of new caches placed in the area I set about converting some of them to smileys. This is of of the many I have found so far. All were easy find with no maintenance issues. TFTC

30-Jun-19
We circumnavigated the garden in opposite directions but came up empty handed. On Mr. Herbz 2nd loop he made the find. TFTC.

NyssaFlutterby, Wombles&Co and I had headed out for a holiday Wacky Wednesday up north today, and arrived at this cache with Wombles&Co and I scratching ourselves silly, suffering the effects of itchy grubs at a previous cache.
Cache found quickly then we were off on our way back to the other cache that we had just driven past.
Thanks for the cache CDAH55.

Hi there CDAH55.

Today's venture had us heading from Gympie to (Upper) Widgee bag a few caches along the road.. All up we found 21 caches & DNF'd 1.

Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander around Australia. Thanks also for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this regular sized cache here.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache about 6m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Eraser.

Regards

Ian & Penny.

We have set up camp at Chatsworth Park. Todays trip to us out away from the hustle & Bustle of town.
We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

First cache today for the July Widgee Event weekend...cruising around Widgee with teamDFL. Oops I just took the 4wd straight up the lawn to the garden, did not even think, my bad, just got excited to test the new truck out...lol. We could see where everyone had looked for this cache as all the lawn clippings were shuffled in. Cache eventually found by team dfl and log signed by both of us. Tftc CDAH55

Logging this cache a week after we found it (on Friday afternoon), now home after our adventures and am having a giggle at all of the logs from finders after us. Co-ords seemed to have us on one side of the garden but keen geosenses from geohubby WallabyTim soon had the cache in hand. We returned to the park on Sunday morning to see off my Dad who had camped here the night, when I spotted someone doing circles in the garden. I cooee'd out and pointed to send them in the right direction. They were so close but then turned around and went the other way. "Nooooo" I sung out so they went back to the right area and soon found it. Just remember, as it says in the description or hint, no need to go in the garden! Definitely helps narrow the search. TFTC Smile

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January Smile
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here Friday evening, and staying up way too late, I took up the offer of a seat in the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and we headed for the hills for an adventure, then worked out way through all but one of the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
Today, Sunday, I again headed off with powellbruce and youngoldfella to find the rest of the caches on the Sunday list and drive up to grab the far away one that was on the bottom of Saturdays list.
TFTC - first for the day ... the others had already found this long ago, but we stopped near here for yof to hide something else - so I took the opportunity to grab this while we were nearby Smile

On our way from Manyung to Glastonbury caching as we travel. Hoping to get to Glastonbury Creek before the rain hits. Muggles camped nearby, but Mr D tried to explain to them what we were up to. As backpackers with not good English I doubt they understood, but they soon disappeared into their wizbang while we made an easy find. Unable to get the CITO event coming up soon, but picked up some rubbish anyway. Thanks CDAH55

Lots of driving on the dirt today around Widgee, Wrattens National Park Smile
Loved the area around the abandon open cut mining at "Large Oasis", wow what a place. We'd continued on south Past "Hill Top" on a less travelled track till we meet up with the Black Snake Rd again, felt a bit like we were lost but we made it back to civilisation again Razz

T-Tech and I are camping for the long weekend at Brooyar with Brother Colin, and today we are going caching. We spent an hour or so touring around Widgee, followed by several hours of 4WDing through Wrattens National Park, collecting 28 caches [^]

It took us ages to make this find, but after reading a few recent logs, we picked up on a good hint. However, it all came down to the meaning of the word "small"! T-Tech finally moved the right one. TFTC, CDAH55.

I am camping for the week-end just up the road at Glastonbury Creek Campsite with IolantheK and T-tech. Big Grin

It is great to finally have some time to find those caches that were placed before and during the recent event at Widgee Showgrounds.
Last weekend I was too involved as host for the event, and also suffering from a stinking head cold, enough effort was spent staying alive.
Thanks Chris for placing a few of caches for the event, this being one. I did sign the log with the CO's permission before the event on the day of placement.

I did call in today to check on it survival during the event, evidently one of our players was having trouble finding it, and decided to rearrange the rocks around the garden bed. Re built the garden bed as best as I can.
The cache can be accessed by the removal of one small rock only.
All Razz with the cache

Today we are making our way home after a successful 2017 Newbies Event we attended at Widgee. After packing up (causing a late start because of the light rain) we made our way through Kilkiven, and some of the back roads to Nanango and Yarraman before journeying down Brisbane Valley through Ipswich to home. That way we avoided the car park on the Bruce highway with all the holiday traffic going home after the long weekend. Sad Of course, we picked up quite a few geocaches along the way! Wink Selva Girls forms the second in our two-vehicle convoy. Cool

Pleasant little park - pity the actual garden area was not better maintained - that would be the icing on the cake for Widgee. Red Face Cache was soon found due to a tell-tale sign, but upon replacing the cache we returned everything to normal. Razz

Log signed & replaced again. Found at 10.35m on 2nd January 2017. TFTC

Out in the Gympie region while camping at the event at Widgee, we took the opportunity to have a look around and sample the local caches. This one was released as part of the event, so we grabbed it on the way past.

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #3085. Thanks **CDAH55** for showing us this spot. Feel free to discover our trackable TGQNRV .

Whilst attending the nearby event cache for Newbies I teamed up with Young old Fella to have a bit of fun trying to find the caches released for this event.

Day 2 few more to find fortunately this lot where down in the low land I had a convoy for this on and a very quick estimate between us we had over 40,000 finds so much so that most of the time we'd left the gps in the car and go a hunting with great success found relatively quickly.

We decided to make a trip up to Widgee for the day to catch up with people attending the Newbies Event. We had a great time meeting some new people and spending the day with Liz & Bruce finding a few caches.

Out in the Gympie region for an event this weekend we picked up a few caches.

Met a lovely couple, who had spend a quite night in the resting area. They told us that other teams couldn't find the cache and were on their way to CO to check coords. We had a look anyway and soon the container was in our hands.

I was one of many attending the Cache up for Newbies event based at the Widgee Showgrounds for the three days of the New Years weekend. The CO Keith Sweet-Sour certaily had everything in place and the only thing I did not like about the weekend was the number of times we drove up and down Widgee Moutntain Road as it got worse as more traffice went over it, but Hey thats the fun of this obsession. on Friday Sweet-Sour and myself went and placed two 4WD access only hides as I had the right vehicle and then on Satyurday I teamed up with Bruce from Powellbruce and we tackled the 31 remaining together. Bruce lives near Gympie and I live in Nanango and we are about the same distance from the top of the big hill so we will assist the CO in maintaining some of the tougher terrain hides.

We were the lead vehicle in a little 3 vehicle convoy for some hides down in the valley and thankfully away from the mountain top for the moment as Bruce and I had to go back up later to find the multi. Looked and found the container and signed the log. Now to go back to the showgrounds for a couple of hours then back up the hill to find the multi GZ. TFTC Sweet-Sour.

Saturday. Today was the day to attend Sweet-Sour's '2017 Cacheup for Newbies' event at Widgee. Mr Slow Puncture only as Mrs SP had to work today

I was out with a group including RhoBoCacher, Wombles, Livin_in_oz, Sewrainbow and Echocage1. This one was on the list but had not yet been published. However, we thought that we would give it a go. I searched far and wide whilst the ladies searched nearer to where they had parked. What would I know? They had it found in less than a minute. A joint (FTF) and for the actual finder, their first ever! Congratulations.

This was the 4th of 10 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***CDAH55***, for showing us this place. Smile
