With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.

A short days caching today - a slow start and an early finish so we can go to the Cowboys game. We headed out to finish off the lab and check out where we used to live. We enjoyed our tour and all the going on in the park today.

Thanks for contributing to the fun burgo78

Thanks burgo78 for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

These logic puzzles do my head in but at least you can work through them methodically. We were in the area today completing the Tourist Trail adventure lab and decided to drop by for a quick find. Thanks for the cache

On our last day together, Earthbound Chief, ahomburg and myself headed off to find an assortment of geocaches. Another fun puzzle to solve! Thanks for the cache burgo78.

Cori Celesti
The central mountain at the Disc's hub. It is a spire of grey stone and green ice and is roughly 10 miles high. Suffice it to say, from the very top you can see right to the rim, but due to the flatness of the disc, this can also be achieved from the tops of fairly tall hills.

Find #12673

In Townsville, hit the trails with beckNmonts and Earthbound Chief. Found this one along the way.

Day 16, again no pattern today, a few Adventure Labs and then random caches along our travels. My last day in Townsville

Massive thanks go to burgo78 for placing this one.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

I'd love to see the CCTV footage of the playground area, to count how many cachers zipped through to get access to GZ. That would make for some good footage. Big Grin

Securely in place and on the right side of the fence, I hadn't read the clue and decided the container had to be in 'there'. Sadly it wasn't but there was plenty of green ants to welcome me... Twisted

After realising the mistake, Ghostgums and I widened the search and the container was located. Having made an interesting arrival into the area, we would have hated to leave without our names in the log. Surprised

Business done, the cache was returned as found, I sprinkled a little lite camo over it to keep it out of sight, then we headed off.

Cheers burgo78.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend! Big Grin

Today it was heading out to James Cook University and then back towards to the centre of town, before seeing Gunnie69 off as he headed back to Brisbane

A smiley has been added to the cache! Big Grin

Thanks burgo78 for the cache, the hunt and the smiley today! [D*|

**This Cache:**

It was dark and there was no muggles about so I just took a direct route to this cache, through a gate into some sort of garden but then had to jump a fence. I thought I would take the correct way back out, but seems like that isn't possible either. The actual pathway was closed off - ooops!

And then the sprinklers in the garden I had crossed turned on...... ahhhh!
So I had to go around anyway to avoid getting wet.
But hey, I got the cache in the end and it was a good find!

**Today:**

Day 14 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event! Big Grin

Today was an early start at 6:30am to fit in the last caches for the trip for sebass19 before he had to catch a mid-morning flight!

It was then back to caching solo for me, I started off with a very hot hike near the Breaking Bad series, grabbing a couple challenges and the first few puzzles in the series itself.

I then headed over to the RRPT series where I met up with the "MEGATRONS" to get a cache that needed a special TB to access it which they had obtained, that was a success and I started to find more high terrain caches nearby before having my earliest night of the trip as exhaustion was starting to catch up to me!

The 17/02/2022 online Sip and Solve event appeared to confirm what I thought was needed for this puzzle, and then it was just a matter of time in working through the possibilities and combinations. I do enjoy these types of puzzles, as they are rather logical!

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.

In the area today with e.gregory1, and we were nearby whilst completing one of the Townsville Mega Adventure Labs. We took the long walk to GZ, and after a short search, we managed to locate the geocache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks burgo78 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Out and about with Swearah and jodsta83.

What a nice area and nice pools.
Well after being on the wrong side we had to jump the fence to find this hide.

Thanks

18-Apr-22
This was a tricky puzzle, but perseverance paid off with some good coordinates.

At GZ, Stephyy found this where jodsta83 had already looked! Checking my notes before writing my log, I still haven’t told them that there was a hint in the checker that I’d forgotten about… oops!

Thanks for the puzzle and the cache, burgo78 ??

Out and about for a day of caching in Townsville with swearah and stephyy. Cache blindness has definitely set in for the day, I raced to GZ eager to make a find, methodically checking all the spots. Luckily stephyy was checking my work and managed a quick find. Tftc burgo78 ????

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.

I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.

While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.

All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

Thanks burgo78 for the puzzle and the cache.

In town for the mega, using caching as a guide to show us the best of what the region has to offer.

Was glad this one wasn't in the kiddie zone, making for an easy grab while no-one was looking

This one unexpectedly earned its terrain due to the now-unconventional access needed to retrieve it! Fantastic area, wish I could say more but it’s a puzzle, so… Found while exploring lovely Townsville and surrounds during the CacheQld Townsville Mega, with DisSister and Dragonsky. Great Northern escape 2022 Day 6. Townsville Mega section Day 6. For today I started caching with TikvaNZ for a section of the RRPT. I was on my e-scooter and we had a great time out in the sun visiting interesting locations along the river, some were a bit to much for us today. After lunch I caught up with Kittly Katch, Joolay, Isopeda and Barb2e for some pole caching. Sometimes this was quite a challenge. The day ended with a trip back to Ross River for a pre Mega dinner with heaps of people I have not seen for ages. A great way to get the Easter weekend started.

Thanks for the cache burgo78

Day 6 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today was mostly Ross River Power Trail caches by bike. This morning Albida33 and I joined forces to tackle the section from the Riverway lagoons heading upstream. Cache easily found in good condition. Puzzle solved a few weeks ago in preparation for the trip. TFTC.

So excited to be attending my second MEGA and to fly
to a destination for fun! And return to the tropics in an equally long time

Great to meet new faces and to spend caching time with some familiar cachers as well.Find #5398

A few days ahead to explore this beautiful hot city. So much caching on offer, and apologies for the generic log.

And so it goes, just happy to pick up caches such as this one. Thanks to burgo78 for putting out and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment!

Logic is totally not my kind of puzzle but I stuck with it. I thought my first result looked good but the checker must have found it illogical. I tried again and no surprises, a different answer. This time it was freakily right. Surprised

We couldn't have picked a busier time to look for the cache... the place was abuzz with people, runners, cyclists, organisers and spectators. We couldn't believe we'd be lucky enough to be able to get the cache with a triathlon in progress but we did... no problems at all. TFTC burgo78.

We liked this puzzle. Another creative way to pull up some coordinates.

While in the area this afternoon we grabbed the chance to look for this cache. Cache was soon found.

Thanks All good here.

After solving a few days ago. We finally had the chance to come down and look for it. Cache is in good condition and log is dry.

I love this type of puzzle. I started with an A4 piece of paper then moved to A3. But with pen and paper and a lot of arrows I soon had this puzzle solved.
Nice quick find with KerriMG today.

Visiting town for a few days & planned a wander along the river, so couple days before I had a look to see what was on offer. I love a good logic puzzle and tackled this amongst the kids climbing on me for about 20 mins. Whilst doing it, I would have put money that there would not be one solution, but a few variations..... I was proven wrong and got the green light on first attempt, WHOOT!

Of course it’s starts drizzling as we were wandering to GC after having a chat to the turtles & climb on the playground first. So I made quick find & log, whilst the rest of the family went for cover.

There is water in the box, but log is nice & dry!

TFTC!

I liked this puzzle a lot, very creative solved it quite a while back but never really visited this area so hadn’t made the find. I’m needing to extend my search radius to maintain the streak though so I’m heading over this way now.

Didn’t feel like cooking so grabbed some fish and chips and headed down to the tables near river way and ate in the lovely spot. Tried to look for the one near the bbq down further but didn’t have any luck so wandered up to here instead. Made the find easy enough and everything was good. TFTC

Day 5 Townsville.
Another day on the bikes doing the RRPT with the Snakepitters.
A mixed bag of hides, some very difficult ones. A nice ride along the river side.

I had listed all the cachers name down & a fair bit of paper shuffling was going on. Eventually a PAF was enlisted to help sort it out.
I do know some of these very good cachers none were listed in the final places.

Thanks for placing this amazing series burgo78

TFTC burgo78 (4:10pm)

On a rainy afternoon I solved this Geo Tournament puzzle, then hurriedly picked up my geo-munchkin MissCharlieBear from school. We then had a lovely walk with umbrellas to GZ. Found Geocache hide easily enough by being very careful with stick to avoid snakes as I’ve seen a few about the last couple of days around Townsville. However there was a keeper of the cache being one of the biggest toads I’ve seen for awhile behind it

Unfortunately the geocache was full to the brim with water, covered in mud & creepy crawlies & some SWAG with metalwork was rusted. Log book & baggie was soaked but I managed to sign it. I emptied the water out

I was hoping to drop a Geocoin here, but will look further afield. This geocache requires maintenance. Signed log, took SWAG, left SWAG & RAF. I enjoyed the puzzle ~ cheers!

07-Jul-19
This had sat unfound for about 8 months and then cops 2 finds in 3 days. Worked out the top 15 i think and then the maintenance clue helped a lot as it had to be close by. Thanks for the cache. Still have no idea on the full results but got the one i required.

TFTC. The weather had turned a little and put paid to plans to be out on the river. Instead I took the geo-mobile to walk along the path from the Arts Precinct. Luckily it did not rain but it did drizzle on and off. Got muggles out of a couple but still ended with 7 trad and a puzzle cache. On my own a good walk of around 4K. This puzzle had been solved sometime ago with them help of friends. We guessed the position of several but we got the green tick eventually.
We had been here last weekend and had searched in the exact spot I found the container today. Needed to dig the container out. It was full of water but the logbook was dry. Took the TB.

10-Feb-19
With the recent floods the container, as expected was missing so I have replaced. Happy hunting.

03-Feb-19
Given the current flooding I'd be very surprised if this one hadn't been washed away.
I don't expect that anyone would be out anyway but disabling until the water has receded and I can check and replace.

08-Jan-19
Checked on this one as I was nearby.
No problems here.
Happy hunting.

This took quite a bit of research about some characters who, except for a couple or three, we know little of. But we got some acceptable numbers in the end and packed them away for this little winter trip.
Near GZ we searched everywhere near where the Garmin first settled and found nought. Then it moved to another spot that had more promising opportunities, but none bore fruit. Dejected, we sat and pondered. Meanwhile the satellites suggested somewhere between their first guesses. I poked and prodded and heard a familiar and very welcome sound. This cache really resisted being found and had buried itself deeply for winter hibernation. Our triumph was all the more enjoyable for it.
Thanks burgo78.

Another puzzle cache that did create a lot of discussion on the home front as to the best way/s to proceed.
While we were able to get most of the digits required calculated, some further assistance was required before we had the correct set of coordinates.
Once at the GC the cache was located in the second spot we searched.
Thanks for a very different puzzle style and for the hide.

We could log it with the help of our dear friends from FNQ.

After the recent DNF I checked on this one today. I couldn’t find it so I have now replaced.
Happy Hunting.

11-Jan-18
Using my puzzle brain calculated the winners, then we all set off to find the prize however at GZ the long arms and the roving eyes could not find it, maybe next visit.

DNF - Come up blank on this one. We worked out the mystery part and set off with our coordinates. Over two evenings JTLTN and Lildonnasadventure searched the GZ but it eludes us. Hopefully still well hidden and we overlooked it.

Managed to pick up a few solved puzzles between shopping centres this afternoon. Geomum solved this one and it was an easy grab with few people on land, thanks for another cache Burgo 78.

Interesting puzzle that I managed to find a solution to a bit quicker than I expected. Cache was located reasonably quickly between people walking past. TFTC!

Solved the puzzle and then it was an easy find. Left Darth Vader trackable. Found BFE style.

28-May-17
We found this together. Took 2 trackables, one may return soon.

As usual this CO required a whole lot of thinking before I could even begin my search. After coming to a solution the hunt was on. A fair amount of searching in the various nooks and crannies and trying to avoid the muggles wandering around on a Sunday afternoon eventually found the cache. Thanks again for another fantastic mystery TNLN TFTC

I went on a Townsville puzzle solving frenzy a couple of weekends ago as I have a planned trip in March. Cue medical emergency with the hubby and it bought me up earlier. With things all cleared it has been good to pick up a couple of solved puzzles early. This one took a couple of go's to solve but I was very happy when it all came together.

just a quick overnight stop in Townsville
after a quick trip North to visit relatives
I have been sitting on a heap of solutions for some burgo78 puzzles for awhile
and I finally got a chance to test some Big Grin

well I haven't met the CO yet
but definitely know a few of the competitors in "The Geo Tournament"
got some numbers and a green light without too much effort
but then had to sit on them for quite a few months
today, got out to GZ [?] damn
lots of people, lots of possible hides, lots of leaf litter
but we got it in the end
cache fine, signed and replaced as found
forgot to bring the TB's I had planned to drop from the car
so they just visited

thanks for the cache
now to try and test another solution before we run out of light Big Grin

This was my planned log for last night but as I could not find it I had to resort to plan B in the dark.
Today it was an easy find in more or less the first place I looked.
Surprisingly the place was muggle free, my work at GZ was a soon done.
Solving this took some time, always honored to be the part of the problem or was it solution Smile
Thanks burgo78 for puzzle and cache

Somewhat surprised and a little bit flattered to see our name in this geo-tournament [^]. We needed a puzzle for today and after a mandatory excursion to Cactus Jacks on our visit, we decided to collect this cache for the souvenir. The puzzle took a couple of goes to unravel but eventually we had the tick from the checker. The hide also took a while, with plenty of hiding spots. With persistence we eventually found it. Night seemed to be a good time to visit, with no muggles to contend with. Happy to have got this one while in town. Thanks for the puzzle and cache burgo78 Big Grin

Yes!!! FTF!!!
Got the notification earlier today. But was held up with parental duties. When we finally got home I got to work on the puzzle and 20 mins later I had viable coordinates. Now I had to wait for the kids to get home from school. Finally Frullet Jr and I were able to make a dash for the prize,we arrived at GZ and there were school muggles playing on their phones. So we sat close by on a rock and waited them out, then they finally moved on and we made a quick discovery. Thanks Burgo78 for the puzzle cache.
