Visited this afternoon….my first visit. What a spectacular waterfall. We enjoyed the views from both waypoints, the water was cascading. Thanks Na’wal for bringing us here today…and for the workout we received on the stairs. Answers e-mailed.
A long weekend escape with the family. A lovely spot here - haven’t been for years! Answers sent. Thanks for the earthcache!
Two of my favourite things in life. Hiking and Geo Caching. With today being a bit cooler, than the after a beautiful weekend, we decided to take the hike from Lorne. It was a scenic easy walk with lots of photo opportunities. Ground zero was the Cherry on the cake and well worth the effort. Thank you CO. Earth caches would be one of my favourites.
A short weekend getaway to this beautiful area to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
After visiting a few other falls we were ready to head back to Lorne for lunch however we couldn't leave this one.
With the recent rains the falls were flowing beautifully. Lots of people we out enjoying the walk and the many stairs that lead to the bottom. Certainly worth the climb back up.
Thanks Na'wal for the EC

Out and about with SimsFamily to enjoy the trails and water falls with the wind blowing and the ocean raging the tourist numbers were down, which helped get a parking spot in the very limited spaces.
It’s been a few year since I was here last, a lot has changed but not the falls.
Thanks for the Earthcache Na’wal

Spending a few days at Lorne (great to get here now restrictions are eased) and doing some walks to falls. Had to include Erskine - a great spot. Log approved.
Enjoyed a great morning exploring Erskine Falls, from the top, the bottom after descending the 280 or so steps. We then walked along the tricky trail to Straw Falls. Answers to questions emailed to cache owner.
#1100. We walked up from Lorne with the Bruce cousins today. I had concerns about the capabilities of our group given there has been rain this year and Youngest Bruce is still a bit young, and shuttled a car to the top to get us home. The concerns had some foundation - it took us five and a half hours to get here, one way. But we got there, and it was as good as Cape Hauy.
We started on the wrong side of the river, but only realised when we got to a fence. We found our way down to the river though, and made our first and trickiest crossing. Youngest Bruce slipped and got her pants wet - Mum changed her into Mum's spare jumper. We moved a log to make bridge, and we all made it over.
That set the tone for the whole day - picking ourselves up and going on, and on. We met two women coming down about 2ks from Lorne, who said it took them three hours and ten crossings to get that point. Both those numbers looked bad for us, but the cousins had gone ahead to the next crossing and it turned out to be far enough away that going on then seemed like the better option.
And so when we got to the falls, we had earned every terrain point. There was plenty of water coming over as well so they looked as exquisite as getting to the finish felt. Thanks Na'wal for putting a cache here to mark it.

Being stuck at home...
Dreaming away behind our computer thinking of past holidays and geocaching...
We were here one day. Unfortunately, this cache wasn't in place yet at the time...
Just a write note to have a nice memory on the place!

Yes we enjoyed this wonderful location!
But compared to other ECs from CO: here I found the geological explanations quite complicated, even with google-translation to German. And the answer to Q1 was difficult because the top of the falls was not seen well from the lookout due to trees.
Thanks for log permission,

Well my intial journey here began back in Jan 2017.
I came down here took some snaps with the geodaughter and then went walking.
Well forgot all about it until last week.
Spent the morning trekking back to Lorne.
At gz I stopped and admired a view that never misses a beat.
Answers submitted and the thumbs up given.

While we stayed for a few days in Aireys Inlet we made some long and short hikes. This one was a very short one to the Erskine Falls. We where astonished about the cool temperature near the falls. Greetings from Switzerland

On my way to my 13,000th find today! What a cool spot! I'd never been here but H had been a regular - those steps were hard work on the way up. Answers sent! This was my 288th earthcache! Thanks for the earthcache Na'wal.

Day 19 of our adventure across Australia. Traveling from Kalamazoo,Michigan USA. Woke up in Melbourne today. Picked up rental car a day early and after a crazy Asian breakfast downtown, we headed to the 12 Apostles NP. We are driving along the Great Ocean Road. Lots of stops taking in the sites and grabbing a few caches along the way. So pretty. Had a couple of kangaroos road side, saw a flock of cockatoos, Australian Robins, and a Australian King Parrot! We took so long we are spending the night in Apollo Bay. If your cache requires answers they will soon be sent. If it needs a photo it’s attached. TFTC PS About the 5th or 6th waterfall we’ve visited while in Australia. Amazing how the Great Ocean Road was SUNY but 3/4 of the way up we were in the clouds, with mist. Also noticed the center of the lane was green with moss up here.
Thanx for the all clear to post this earth cache. We visited on the queens birthday weekend and found it very crowded but still an enjoyable experience
Very nice waterfall. Unfortunately, it rained during my visit. Still a nice visit and walk down and along the river. Tried to find the answers to the questions and send them.

gatta nera and Hai Happen married! and what comes after a marriage? ok, her name is still gatta nera and not yet gatta Happen, but would be quit interesting
so, next is honeymoon
so, the decision was made, it should go to Australia, with a 12 hour stop over in Singapore to check out the bay area.
Today, we travelled from Lorne to Torquay. On our way there, we visited the Ereskine Falls. We also went to Aireys Inlet and Bells Beach. Of course, we also did some geocaching along the route. Most of the caches we could find without problems.

Today, Hai Happen and I travelled from Lorne to Torquay. On our way, we made a stop at the beautiful Ereskine Falls. I really enjoyed watching the waterfalls. While waiting for a couple to go "out of my picture", I gathered the answers required at the bottom of the falls and just enjoyed this great view.
Thank you very much for the EarthCache!

Thanks for the EC

We were surprised to see some water flowing today. Sent geopartner down to get the second set of answers as have dodgy knee and want to do some other steps tomorrow. Thanx
Found the Cache.
Full details of our visit down under on our return.
.
I found the cache, another day, another cache or two or more, and more to my total.
.
I am currently concentrating on six types on caches, Church Micros, Village Signs, SideTracked, Village Halls, War Memorials and A Fine Pair. Sadly, there are only SideTracked caches ‘Down Under’, but I did pick up one in Sydney.
.
Mrs Dolphin and I went to visit our daughter who is spending twelve months in Tasmania. After spending four days in Hobart we then did a Whistle Stop tour of a few towns and cities in South East Australia.
.
First the records: -
• First cache in the Southern Hemisphere.
• First Cache in Australia.
• First Caches in Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
• My highest cache ever found, highest three in fact (by far).
• Most southernly cache found
• Most Easterly ever found.
• My Oldest cache found to date.
. I did try and made it my practise to get a cache in every place we stopped. I think I picked up at least one cache at every new place we stopped even if the stop was just for ‘Tea and Cake’. Most of the caching and reporting was done on my phone. I do not like doing the finer points of caching that way and now believe I am fully ‘up to date’. Out of the forty-six caches I found ‘Down Under’ seventeen were Earthcaches. I believe I have emailed everybody the required information, but I understand that one was ‘lost’ (probably my fat fingers). If anybody contacts me, I will try to resend the information and photos I took at the caches.
.
It has taken me well over a week to complete this ‘full’ log of my caches ‘down under’. It is only now I think that I am fully over the ‘Jet Lag’. After being at work all day when I have gone home and had my tea all I have wanted to do is sleep. That is what I have been doing, going to bed without typing this log up.
.
A big thank you to the cache owners for the caches and points to everyone for the caches I found. Some of locations of these caches I do not think we would have gone to had it not been for the Caching.
.
I am also trying to get my Cache Centroid back to nearer my home location. It was only a couple mile from home, until I cached in the USA a few years back. This moved the centroid away by over thirty miles. So these caches should and will move my Centroid back towards my home location. I had thought that these caches from ‘Down Under’ would not help, but they have moved my Centroid back nearer home my four miles. It is now only thirteen miles from home.
.
Thanks for the Cache. I Took Nothing and I Left Nothing only my thanks again.
.
Sorry for the cut and paste, but I have only just got round to finishing off this log and things are beginning to merge into one.
.
I am dipping my Patch (for the mileage) in and out of the cache.

Today we set off on an adventure down to Lorne to enjoy some local waterfalls and even a cave with Dyst0pia and a muggle on our RDO. Weather conditions were in our favour, not too hot and not too cold, making for perfect conditions to attack those 240 steps down to the base of Erskine Falls. A pity about our fitness getting back up, or should we say lack of fitness lol
There was a lot less water here than our last visit but we guess it is the end of summer, so you cant expect anything else! The falls were still impressive making for some great photos as we took in the tranquility of our surroundings before heading along to Straw Falls where we found even less water flowing.
Cheers Na'wal for the earthcache in such an exquisite location.

With a day to myself I headed down the coast in the general direction of Lorne to collect a few caches in that area. What wonderful, falls but those steps nearly wore me out but the falls were worth all that effort. Thanks for tempting me to explore this amazing area Na’wal
It's my second time at the Erskine Falls after 15 months in Australia, 20oookm, interesting work places and a severe accident. Back home in Germany we cache as a family but here I am alone - the oldest of 4kidssearch. We like earthcaches and a foto will of course be attached

Erin1405 and I did a round trip from Alice Springs down South along the coast and ended up in Sydney. We had a marvellous time on this amazing continent viewing a lot of new and beautiful impressions. Of course we searched and found some caches, just like this one. Thanks a lot and many greetings from Germany.
I visited this cache together with B.F.Pierce during our wonderful vacation in Australia. We drove four weeks with a camper van through this amazing country from Alice Springs to Sydney. We enjoyed the great people, wildlife and countryside so much. Thank you for the great cache! Best regards from Germany!
Exquisite is a very apt adjective for this spot. And I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't busier! Thank you for taking the time to pull the info together smfor this earthcache. Definitely a highlight of our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne.
Submitted our answers today, what a great Earth Cache. We loved the area.
Charlie The Ant and family are away for a road trip along the Great Ocean Road from Gippsland starting in Anglesea and heading through to the 12 apostles. Thanks for the opportunity.

Visiting from the Gold Coast and enjoying a few days driving along the Great Ocean Road. After spending the night in Lorne we decided to visit these falls. There was plenty of water coming down after all the rain we had last night. Hope the answers are ok. TFTEC.
This is a terrific cache at a place I had not been to before despite spending many of my weekend when i was your down this coast.
What a beautiful spot and thanks for bringing me here

After staying in Lorne last night we decided to explore the falls this morning seeing it was such a lovely day. The falls were pretty busy and retrieving the traditional nearby was a task! Answers have been sent to CO.
This was a lovely spot to visit and made all those stairs worthwhile!

We have come to the falls today for a nice family picnic. Got all the info for the Earthcache but the wooden sign was a bit hard to read. A great place for a cache.
At the visitor center a nice lady recommended us this waterfall, and because I love waterfalls, we took the 10 km detour. Of cause it was worth it.
We gathered all the informations and took some nice photos.
Thanks for this Cache say the Rukos from Germany

A delightful spot that we have enjoyed a few times over the years.
Gathered the info and sent to Na'wal and the reply came to say OK.

Amazing view. Gps wasn't working in the area, but got pictures to prove I was here.
Almost forgot to log it after approval by CO.
Visited Erskine Fall few times with muggle friends few years back.
Today my children and their partners, love it here.

Last one of the day as we were racing against time and the loss of daylight. We arrived and quickly made our way to the viewpoint. After grabbing a few pics and admiring the falls, we made our way down to the bottom, where we grabbed a few more pics.
Really enjoyed ending the day with a nice waterfall. Thanks for bringing us here.

Sorry for a very late log after misplacing the paper that had our answers/notes on it how embarrassing. Anyway the notes have recently show up and were given the thumbs up by the CO five or so months after we visited.
The Sims_family have been here a couple of time before and the love the area. Rock hoping our way closer to the fall in the past but the weather wasn't on our side at this time of year much to the disgust of Miss 13.
Still a beautiful place to visit in this the colder time of year.
Thank you Na'wal for bringing us back to Exquisite Erskine

We found this great Earth cache while on a nice day trip down the Great Ocean Road. We spent a good hour down at the falls taking photos and rock hopping all over the place. We managed to not slip into the water, others were not so lucky. I really did try not to laugh. It was quite a busy day with an endless trickle of muggles up and down the stairs, not that we had to worry about that with an Earth Cache. With all the signs read and photos taken we were off to our next adventure.
Thanks Na'wal for a great cache in a very scenic spot.

The first time that our Home away from Home has been down to the Otways.
We travelled up to Lorne from Apollo Bay with the intention of grabbing a couple of caches on the way and then out to this magnificent location that I have been to many times over the years.
Boy those steps are a killer on the way back up after gathering the required details at the bottom.
A young nurse who had walked up from Lorne asked if we were returning to Lorne as she was running out of time to return to her car and be back in Melbourne by 6.00pm.
Cleared a spot for her by shifting a heap of caching gear we returned her to her car so our good deed for the day.
At the car park parking was at a premium with all spots taken and very busy with everybody trudging up and down the steps but everybody seemed to be happy with the amount of water cascading over the falls.
Thanks Na'wal for all the work gone into placing this E.C. Now to sort all the others that I have been to over the last week or so.

found after the surf coast mega event. starting to head back to SA via every waterfall in the Otway ranges. This was the first waterfall of the trip and well worth the visit with out the added bonus of a EC or trad. Fav point.
Found at 4:21 PM
Well - that was an interesting little walk [B)] We were so pleased to have found another cache down there.
The water was flowing strongly over the edge of the drop off and it was very mossy all around.
btw - there is one of those road work flashing signs on the way to the falls that says that the falls are closed - or no Access, Please disregard that sign as all is open and ok.
Thanks Na'wal.

Spent today's Father's day with wife and son Aysen.
After Burgers at Bottle of Milk and Bottle of Milk for Aysen at Bottle of Milk, it was a drive through the lush rain forrest back to this magic spot.
I tried loading offline caches but just wouldn't open, so took pics of everything I saw to ensure I could post answer this EC.
Took the time to read the extra research done by the CO once home.
A great spot for an Earthcache, and certainly opens doors to more EC's within Otways given no caches are allowed
One day I plan to do the hike down to Lorne from Erskin. There is another waterfall here 50m down from Erskin that no longer has a cache however could def use an earthie!
Cheers and thanks for a cache to top off a great Fathers Day!

So Railwalker and I (Walk-Away-Renee) finally did it! We finally created a joint account! It takes having a kid to make this happen. Now we are finally merging our stats. So, using GSAK we are logging this cache and it should be dated by the oldest time found by either one of our accounts (so look for a post created by either RailWalker or Walk-Away-Renee). We greatly appreciate your hard work for making that cache possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us.
Once again thank you for your time and energy put into this cache/event. The hobby of Geocaching would not be possible without the likes of you to support the community!

Boy we didn't have much luck this portion of our trip. We made it to Lorne a bit later than we expected... I blame all the photos we took along the way. So we made our way to Erskine falls... but due to the elevation our gas tank kept making weird adjustments one second we had a full tank of gas and the next minute we were nearly out of gas. Rather than risk it we drove to the heart of Lorne trying to find a gas station. We manage to find it so off we went to Erskine Falls. During this time it was getting darker and it was raining... but it was light at the time. We made it to the parking lot and then it down poured. We gave it 15 minute and we debated should we go for it or not? Of course. We both took off like a bullet trying to look at the falls as much as we can running down the stairs (I'm not sure how we didn't fall). Took pictures trying to appreciate it as much as we could but of course it was raining buckets. It was dark and grey and wet... we did the best we could. See the attached pictures.
We hope the rain would have died down while we were there...but not luck so we ran back to our car to dry off (for the record I'm completely out of shape so when I say "ran" it's more huffing and puffing along ) We then drove off. The rain did stop and the night was beautiful (we stayed at one of the areas free campgrounds) but we weren't meant to view this beautiful falls in a dryer state. Maybe one day in the future.

I have visited most of the caches in the Lorne area during some random hikes, but somehow had never been to these Erskine Falls.
After a hike in Lorne I made my way to GZ in the late afternoon, where things were relatively quiet with most tourists having left already. I made my observations, spent some time looking for the traditional cache near the falls, and then made my way back up almost in the dark.
They're certainly one of the tallest drops in the area, and well worth a visit. Answers emailed and promptly confirmed by the CO.
Thanks for the earthcache, Na'wal - I'm glad I eventually made it to these falls!
