I took the recommended route via the lookout, but I wouldnt recommend attempting this cache at the moment. It was very slippery clay following rain and the path appeared overgrown with blackberries about 20 metres from the GZ. A hot day would be snake bonanza which is difficult when you cant see through the bracken: David
As geocachers we should know that there is always an easier way out. So take it in instead of taking the track marked "fit walkers only" keep going up the hill after crossing the creek and walk on the flat ground all the way to the waterfall viewing area then descend the stairs to access the path this cache is on. Don't go over the side when you are level with it either.
I had a good scratch around for this one but no find for me. A bit disappointing after the walk in.
A camping and caching trip out towards the Brisbane Ranges, we were not as prepared as usual so freestyle cached our way around. This was the last of the day, and it was soooo not worth it. The walk was through a hot field with zero shade, and then we got there and there was no water in the waterfall! Then the 100m from the track to the cache was insanely overgrown with blackberries and thistles it was a nightmare to get through. Luckily day1976 found the cache quickly so we could get back out of there. We ended up finding a way to the road and walked back to the car that way, it was much quicker, and a shadier walk than the track was.
I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the logs so decided to find out for myself.
At around 50 metres away I decided I couldn't do the steep descent and continued along the trail and I'm glad I did because I found an easier way. I say easier but it is really overgrown now, lots of blackberry bushes booo! Luckily I came in with trekking poles and gaiters, if I was doing it again some long sleeves would be good. Or a machete! It wasn't overly difficult though, I just took my time to avoid injury.
The cache was found in it's hidey spot, logged and replaced. I'm guessing this cache has never been found by a muggle!
I'm giving this cache a favorite point for the effort to go hide it here

A cool moist area near the falls. The track was a little slippery near here but negotiated it ok. Now for some uphill walk before the winding but level walk back to the geovehicle Lovely to have a traditional here TFTC wozzle68
I wasn't actually geocaching today but I decided to have a quick look while I was walking to the falls. I was not dissapointed. Best part was, I had the whole place to myself. This area would be perfect to spend the day exploring. I'm not even mad my shoes are wet. tftc.
Lol few ‘logs’ to chose from!! Great spot, we’ve loved our Sunday stroll!! Tftc
This second track back from the falls is a bit tougher then the main track, got to the cache and turned around again. TFTC
I liked the walk to this cache.
It was long but an easy walk. The last 100m was the hardest as it was slippery and there were some blackberries.
Thanks for showing us the river.

Found with the family.
I liked the walk and walked the whole return trip.
Dad had to help me to GZ though as it was really overgrown.
We found the cache after a short search.

We have left this cache and the Earthcache for a few years until Maeve was big enough to walk the whole way there and back.
Today was that day. Just a beautiful temperature for a walk and quite a busy trail as well.
Cache was found after a bit of a poke around the tall undergrowth.
Thanks for the walk and the hide.

The afternoon was warming up quickly so the walk down to the falls was taken with the fit Triton wearing his cane hat and a lather of sunscreen. Taking the worn track with long grass either side made him vigilant of slitheries on his trek. The track was steep and undulating closer to the falls but nothing he couldn't handle. ( Lucky the unfit Triton was left on car minding duties )
Once the falls had been visited it was time to make his way to the nearby trad. Not being able to find the defined track a walk through some prickles was needed to reach GZ. The stinging nettles hidden amongst the prickles still left their mark hours later lol
The cache was straight forward so after signing the log , it was time to head back to the car and the relief of the air conditioning.
Thanks wozzle68 for the adventure today, you did bloody well getting here by yourself.

I did not take an easy route to this cache! It was only after I’d clambered down the long slope (getting stung by nettle and pricked all the way) that I realised there was an easy path to the cache. Doh! A very pretty spot and enjoyed seeing the falls - although I think my experience at the last cache being able to sit in the waterfall definitely trumped this. Tftc
I'm not sure why the car park is so far away. The track then meanders for over 2km each way pretty much alongside the road. Anyone could just drive closer, climb through the fence and save themselves 1.8km of walking. I wouldn't do that though. Chris would. But not me.
I can say however, don't approach this cache from the top. Chris might. But not me.
Go down the bottom, and around, stomp through the thorns, and do the long walk back. Don't bush back down the hill because it's only 40m away.
Either way, the walk will bring you to these falls. Just following winter they are in full flow. A nice little viewing area where one can sit with a young man perced and watch nature in all it's glory. The young man speculated that the water would be very deep. And to be very careful. That's Ok. We were following the rules today. Not getting to close. Not climbing fences. Taking the paths to the cache.
Now off to Ballan for 2 sandwiches, a vanilla slice, and a cookie. The second highlight of the day.

Another day in the company of Na'wal, with a few caches to find. With the weather being pleasant enough, we had an enjoyable time. We had to watch our footing on the walk in, but we made it without slipping over. A scenic area for a cache, love it. TFTC wozzle68
We were lucky enough to have another great sunny winter's day so after I had the kids sport first thing, I met up with DAB and headed out to make a few more finds for the weekend.
I had been wanting to get out to these falls for ages. I didn't want to come out here in Summer due to snakes and low water flow so today was the perfect day. We trudged through some very wet areas along the track and along the slippery salt creek track to this cache. The GPSr was a bit jumpy but once it settled along with the clue, we found the hide.
**Thanks to wozzle68 for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

Some solo caching today which meant i could tackle some of the longer walk and higher terrain caches around Lal Lal as the geofamily struggle a little with these ones.
What a fantastic cache this one turned out to be, very unassuming on the map but it had everything; great walk in, fantastic views along the way, some gnarly bushwalking and finishing with that fantastic waterfall at the end!
Well done Wozzle68 for placing this one, now one of my favorite caches I've found in all of the Ballarat area. CIGC. Definite FP for this location cache, cheers!

Found by Mary and David at 16:15:00. What a hike. Accessed the track from a point on Harris Road about 500m from the cache. Good exercise so that did help to keep us warm. Salt Creek track was overgrown, narrow and, today, quite slippery in places. Cache turned out to be easier to find than we'd feared. Great view there too. Our thanks to wozzle68.
Fought our way in here, got a thousand grass seeds in my socks and shoes! If anyone reads this, bring junk socks and sneakers, or gaiters.
Nice day for a walk... sounds easy doesn't it?
Well we got there after bush bashing through a 5 foot high wall of foliage to firstly see the falls...we actually stomped down these weeds so ou could actually see the falls.
Then we continued on the salt creek track and were faced with the same proposition of stomping our way through thistles which were very thick.
Previous walkers had told us it was impassable but we did it.
This trail needs a serious whipper snip all through here.
Any way we got here and the cache was a nice find.
The falls are grand, but with time and weeds including the blackberries it's quickly getting overgrown.

A lovely day for a walk so it was decided to tackle the hike to pick up the two moorabool falls cache. The recent rains have ment that the last section of the walk is quite overgrown and a real challenge at the moment. That said it was a great trip and well hidden cache. Thank wozzle68.
Enjoyable walk around the local creek the case was an easy find once I was in location the marble falls with running and look spectacular
Thanks for bringing me here

With a free afternoon and the warmer weather of late I drove out to the country for a bit of caching. I had previously visited Lal Lal Falls and completed the two caches there, but I didn't have time to walk to Moorabool Falls.
Today was a different story and after completing the enjoyable walk I found myself at GZ with an unhappy GPS that was jumping all over the place! After an extended search I uncovered the cache and had the log signed. I completed the walk to the falls and enjoyed the view from the observation platform. TFTC wozzle68!

After having a great time at the International Earthcache Day Event we joined forces with Alansee and Phetlern to try our luck with a few caches in the area.
After collecting the required information for the earth cache here we then headed down to try our luck with this one. With the steps being a little eroded and a dicky knee this one wasn't as easy to get to as we had thought but once at gz the views made up for the effort. It was also a nice quick find that made it even better.
We added our names to the log and retuned every thing as it was and then happily found the return trip a little easier than coming down.
Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

We walked to these picturesque falls from the top of Lal Lal Falls and did the circuit clockwise from the first sign at the track junction, which turned out to be a good choice as it was the easiest route. Thanks for showing us this beautiful location.

After attending the International Earthcache Day Event, we enjoyed an interesting walk to the falls in the very good company of Alansee and Team Crackers, who made a quick find here.
There was a dog thoroughly enjoying swimming in a pool downstream.
Thanks wozzle68 for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Wow! What a hidden gem! The kids and I decided to tackle this wall today before the nearby geocaching event. I didn't read the description but knew it was a long hike. Oops - I was a couple of kms under in my guesstimate - good job kids don't understand distances yet! Anyway the kids and I parked at the beginning of the walk and had a wonderful meander along the track. Stunning views at various points. We continued on and made it to the Falls. Such a gorgeous amazing secluded spot. We took plenty of pics and then made the slow trek out via the this cache which was a nice quick find. We also cut through the fence and walked back to the car along the road as we had taken a fair while! Many many thanks.
Out with gmj3191 and 08151605 today and we tackled this walk at the end of the day. Didn't realise that it was such a long walk here and I was quite hot by the end of it. Great exercise and a really hidden gem both here and at the falls.
It was good to have company as it helped pass the time and take my mind off my ankle.
The clue helped here. TFTC wozzle68

I could see where this one was hiding from about a 100m away - it was helpful a group of others had found it for me as I approached and they were kind enough to add my name to the log. It's quite hot out here now. Thanks Wozzle68.

Today, Sheppythekid, geobub and myself spent the day in the Lal Lal area grabbing the caches in the area. This is a fantastic area with a great mix of landscape, history and geology to be seen. We had a great day even though it rained of and on with a really strong wind in the exposed areas.
We started of at Moorabool Falls. The falls were flowing nicely after some recent rain, such a pretty area.
Thanks wozzle68 for all your caches in the area, we had a great day.
Cheers BWBandit

Spent most of the day on back roads and dirt tracks turning green boxes into smiles.
Those steps aren't regulation size nor was the trail to GZ but all is good when you make a quick find.

So I checked out this trail at the trailhead near the dip in the other track. It looked OK. After I worked out the earthcache and took some photos, I realised I'd have to take the lower track to this cache. It's overgrown, deteriorated and there are plenty of trees down along the goat track. I managed to get to GZ and find the cache easy enough though. I decided not to head back and juts go straight up the side of the hill and out of the gully - huffing and puffing - heart ready to burst out of my chest! I got there... In one piece! Happy Easter to all! Thanks for the cache, wozzle68.

Went for walkies and could not find it so diverted my attention to this longer walk around the trail. Beautiful day and lovely scene at the falls. This one was nestled neatly in its hidey hole. TNLN TFTC.
Another cache on a nice day, the track is invaded by hairy brown caterpillars today.

After making it to Moorabool Falls Neville_devil, Miss10, Miss12 and myself ventured off to try and find this little guy along a very slippery and muddy path. Miss 10 was having a few troubles making her way along so miss 12 stayed back to help her along to make sure she stayed on her feet.
Neville_devil and I made it GZ and we started looking in a few likely spots. Then Miss 10 and Miss12 caught up and Miss 12 located the cache in the first place she looked. The log book was retrieve and signed before all was returned as found.
Thank you wozzle68 for bring us to this wonderful part of the world

At the Lal Lal duck event today, so doing all the nearby caches too. Great location in this area. We are having a very fun day today. We decided to do the full walk from the car park to this cache and on to Moorabool Falls. May have ended up quite a bit longer than the map said, lol. Beautiful walk that lots of other people missed though. Again, nice to see a waterfall with lots and lots of water. The path there was quite slippery in places and a nearly took a detour a few times, haha. Very well worth the extra effort to get there though. Not for the faint hearted. Tftc.
After absorbing the beauty of the falls and discussing the answers of the EC, we went on to find this hide. Well, the terrain is impressive, we certainly watched our steps very carefully as we climbed first down, then back up those tall steps. The river and its flats are beautiful, a real treat for the senses: seeing and hearing the water flow, stepping on the soft ground and smelling the fresh air around here was just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for bringing us here!
Well the ageing Bushfire made the trip back up to this area that caching has bought me too before.
Like others I left Geelong where the weather was cool and sunny but by the time I arrived here the temperature had dropped into single digits and so I rugged up with the warmest that was on board but I cannot say I was cosy. This is a good opportunity for me to get into training for my trip to Alaska next week and taking a dog sled trip in the snow and walking on glaciers.
Parked and started the wander to this guy and then meet up with the lara folk who had been there and were on their way back who told me that there was a lower and an upper track and which one to take.
I really don't know how Wayne found his way to this hide as it is not easy and the ageing Bushfire struggled as I had left the trusty walking stick in the White Beast. Big mistake.
Thanks Wayne for showing me this area but one I do not think I will be back before I fall off the plank.

Found after strolling from the Moorabal Falls reserve carpark. A stroll which began with Venies13 and finished with bushfire. After logging the find, Laurie and I headed off to the Falls for the earthcache there. Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

Parked my car with other cachers cars. Tried to figure out which way to go toward 'Above The Falls' ... walking down and cross the creek without wet my boots then climbing up eventually found a post with a white triangle shape which I was suppose to follow these trail post toward the cache.
Found it nicely.
Great day for a leisure around Lal Lal especially these beautiful falls.
